Apple has never released not more than two new iPhone models per year, but reports have it that the company is planning a third model iPhone for 2017, to celebrate the iPhone's 10th anniversary this September.


While the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were reportedly to be mere spec upgrades to the existing iPhone 7 design, the so-called iPhone X will feature an entirely new design with a larger display, facial recognition, and 3D camera sensors intended to enhance augmented reality application


Some analysts and reports have speculated that the device could cost $1,000 and will be the most expensive iPhone the company as ever produced.

the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has decided to block the entire country's access to Valve's Steam store following the company's refusal to remove a controversial fighting game involving religious figures.

The game in question, Fight of Gods, is a pretty standard fighting game except that it features religious figures ranging from Jesus to Odin where they basically beat the crap out of each other. In a report by the country's national news agency BERNAMA, Salleh Said Keruak, Malaysia's Minister of Communication and Multimedia said that this was done to help maintain solidarity and harmony amongst the people in the country who are of different faiths.


“This action is necessary to protect the users and to prevent untoward incidents. (To ensure) solidarity, harmony and wellbeing of the multi-racial and multi-religious people in the country are the main objectives of the government. The government will not compromise with any action that can jeopardise these objectives.”

The game's publisher PQube has since stated that they have not received any communications from Malaysian officials regarding the game, but it seems that they won't be contesting it either. “We are disappointed that such freedom of choice is not given to everyone and in particular that the game has been forcibly removed from sale in Malaysia, although no direct communication has been received by us as to the reasons for this. Nevertheless we respect any rules and censorship imposed in any given territory.

The Benue state-born London-based transgender said that she looks absolutely nothing like the said man in the video.

In an video shared by an online newspaper[Not DAILY POST] an elderly man, Chief Agbo Ella, claimed Miss Sahara was his daughter and he had accepted her decision to change into a woman.

The chief added that he will accept her bride price from any man who comes to ask for his son/daughter’s hand in marriage.

the Galaxy C8 is a mid-range smartphone, which comes with a metal unibody design, and sports a fingerprint scanner at the back.

As far as the specs are concerned, it comes with a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display on the front while being powered by a 2.39GHz octa-core processor. Even though the exact model is unknown at this point, we’re guessing it’s the same Exynos 7870 chip that powers the Galaxy J7+.

The Galaxy C8 are in two varieties i.e. a 3GB RAM+32GB RAM+storage config, in addition to 4GB RAM +64GB internal memory option. The storage is also expandable upto 256GB via a microSD card. The Galaxy C8 is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery, and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.


The highlight of the smartphone is, however, the dual rear-facing camera setup. It sports a 13-megapixel RGB camera sensor, which is accompanied by a 5-megapixel monochrome shooter. The main sensor has an aperture size of f/1.7, whereas the other one has an aperture size of f/1.9. On the front, for the selfies, there is a 16-megapixel shooter, also f/1.9 aperture, and this is accompanied by an LED flash.

Has Apple finally lost its touch? That depends on how you see it and, more importantly,
when. According to Counterpoint Research, Apple is no longer the number 2 smartphone vendor in the world, but it's still in the top 3. Actually, it is exactly number 3, with Huawei taking up that precious second spot. At least for now. Android fans, don't worry, Samsung is still number one. Again, at least for now.

The market research firm's conclusions were based on the numbers flowing from September 2016 to July 2017. However, it might be too early for Huawei to revel in its victory. Those same numbers show, and Counterpoint Research does say, that Huawei only took the lead in June and July sales, though the projected numbers for August are just as positive.

Even then, as the graph below shows, it only overtook Apple because iPhone sales started to fall after last year's holiday season, and climbed a bit up last July. This trend is not surprising to market watchers and Huawei might quickly lose whatever small gain it has starting this month, when Apple's iPhone refresh comes out. Yes, that includes the most expensive iPhone 8 (or iPhone X) as well.



Numbers aside, the fact that Huawei came this close does show the changing trends in the smartphone market, as Chinese OEMs like Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo start to eat into the pie held by Samsung and Apple. That even despite many of these smartphone makers having very little to no official presence in the US.

It is, however, all a numbers game at the end of the day. Smartphone sales numbers doesn't exactly discriminate between specific models. So while Huawei does have the numbers, none of its flagship models, like the P10 or Mate 9, have entered Counterpoint Research's top 10 phones.

Shigeru Kumekawa, president of Sony Europe, said the company’s products are focused on the “last one inch between our customers and the experiences they seek”.

He continued: “We continue to innovate, improve, and connect with you at the last one inch. With that in mind, perhaps no product captures the last one inch experience more perfectly than our mobile products.”

Sony appeared to regain some of its mobile mojo at Mobile World Congress in February, where it picked up a “best in show” award for its Xperia XZ Premium.

Hideyuki Furumi, EVP of global sales and marketing at Sony Mobile, said the smartphone delivered “very impressive sales that have validated our efforts advancing what is possible in smartphone technology”.

Joining it now are Xperia XZ1 (pictured) and Xperia XZ1 Compact, which include a number of features offered by the bigger sibling, including super slow-motion video capture and high-resolution audio.


While both devices have 19MP main cameras (Sony is yet to join the dual camera game), the front camera is different: a 13MP unit on the XZ1 is replaced by an 18MP super wide-angle module on the XZ1 Compact.

The latter unit also stands out as a device worthy of the name. In a market where devices have generally shifted to screens bigger than 5-inches, the Xperia XZ1 Compact features a 4.6-inch HD display, compared with 5.2-inch full HD with HDR on the XZ1. Indeed, Sony does not have a strong Android-powered, premium rival in the 5-inch and over segment.


Another new feature, which Furumi said is “yet another innovative smartphone technology that is totally unique to Sony”, is 3D Creator, an in-house tool for fast and easy scanning of 3D objects. The company said there are “many playful options to enjoy”, such as creating an avatar for use in the camera AR effects options; setting a live wallpaper; sharing on social media as a 3D sticker; or sending to a 3D printer to make into a “memorable keepsake”.

Processing power comes from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB (XZ1) or 32GB (XZ1 Compact) of storage. XZ1 supports category 16 LTE (up to 1Gb/s), with XZ1 Compact supporting category 14 (up to 800Mb/s).

The devices will also be among the first tranche of smartphones to use Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo platform. Sony is also making Oreo available for a number of its existing products, although some operator and market restrictions will be in place.

Both new smartphones will be available in September, but Sony did not provide guide prices.

Not present at the press conference was a third device, Xperia XA1 Plus, for the “super mid-range”. It sports a 5.5-inch full HD display, 23MP camera and 3430mAh battery. It will be available soon.
