THEY will just push a certain narrative about his or her past that will appeal to viewers,and the bandwagonwrs will latch onto it.The narrative might not be true as we have discovered in the past.but before you know it,it would have helped that particular housemate.Also some of them have influenceers who push this thing for them on the social media.Its marketing .Showbiz .People like davido do it.They pay people to promote them seriously on the social media.And it just booms from there.look at that zazu riffraff that is everywhere now.Who knew him before?It's the work of influenceers.Notice his story is always on instablog everytime. People are too soft these days because they know what all those insults from childhood did to them as adults, they know how much it depleted them and they would rather not mete out the same to the younger people of today.

I watched a video of a 70+ woman, who said that as a child, she once tried on her mother's make-up in excitement, and although she thought she looked pretty, only for her mother to see her, and snidely tell her she looked like a clown with all that make-up. She said it's been almost 60 years since that day, and she rarely puts on make-up, because everytime she does, she thinks of those words.

You're speaking on something that happened to someone as a child. Those teachers have probably forgotten they even met her or said such to her, but see how she still remembers it. Thankfully, she has been able to get over it as an adult, but there may be someone else that got that teasing that still has not gotten over it.

The thing with words is that, you can never say how far it will go, or how deeply it hurts. Some people even dey collect from loved ones, so, the self esteem is bad from childhood. The one constant thing in life is change, if you see that something is affecting people negatively as they age, wisdom allows you to change that thing.

I know the kind of ideas I had years ago, that I have had to change, because I realise it may be just words to me, but I may be saying something that reminds someone of a terrible time in their lives.

People are not being soft these days, people are trying to be more human. Yes, this life na dog eat dog and survival of the fittest, but really, basic empathy should not be that hard to find.

If it is not something you absolutely have to say, honestly, just keep it to yourself. That's the only thing. Especially when the person is a child, like, don't comment on children's looks anyhow

The problem is that these days a lot of people are just too soft.

Growing up we teased ourselves so much.

The person with big head is called isi ukwu. The person who is thin is called atịka. The person who is fat is called akpa akpụ. The person with thin legs is called ụkwụ nza. The person who is slow in understanding is called iti or ewu. The person who is very dark in complexion is called blackie or ekwensu. The person with big eyeballs is called ọkpụrụkpụ anya. The person who acts stupidly is called atụrụ or anụ mpama or akpa amụ. The person who is short is called short engine. The person who is albino is called ọbanze. The person who is very fair in complexion is called ụtụ ọcha and the person with big breasts is called ala nwanyi asaba

And so much more.

We teased each other over various physical attributes and it was all fun at the end of the day. To this day, some people are still being referred to by the nicknames they got as kids as a result of one physical attribute or another.

Granted, some of those teases were really mean but we learnt on time that there's really nothing you could do about it other than fighting the person/s teasing you if you can, or reporting the person/s to an authority figure, or just simply find a way to tease back.

So that's why for someone to tell me that because their teacher called her ọkụkụ ọcha like 20 years ago and she still cannot outgrow the "trauma" really sounds more than strange to me.
