Education / Misogyny In Islam by Gentlewitch(f): 2:32pm On Jul 19, 2017
In traditional Islam, Muslim girls are expected to be virgins on their wedding night, regardless if they are 9 or 100 However, when the bride-to-be undergoes her “virginity test” and is found to have been “defiled” or "deflowered" the inflicted punishment is almost too gruesome to imagine.

In a lot of Islamic societies, girls fear even being accused of not being a virgin, even if they have never touched a man. Muslim men, however, are not expected to remain virgins, and enjoy the pleasure of marrying multiple women throughout their lives.
This double standard in Islamic culture and religion is not only misogynistic, it can prove painful or even fatal for Muslim women.

In many Islamic societies women and children are monitored by their husbands after consummating the marriage, ensuring that their new property was “intact.” The sheets are checked for blood stains, signifying the breaking of the bride’s hymen during intercourse. If the sheets are soiled, the groom can rest assured that the woman he paid for was worth the generous dowry.

Religion / God Is A Sexist. by Gentlewitch(f): 9:05am On Jul 16, 2017
The first chapters of the holy books (Christian Bible and Muslim Qur'an respectively) tells of how a loving god created man and woman, "male and female he created them."

The writer is definitely referring to physical differences, and as we proceed further into the book we sense some sort of gender issues. How society constructs it's customes and traditions, laws and values.

So the question is, how could a loving god create two physically different humans but the same and make the woman a lesser being? What makes one lesser or weaker? Is it measured by physical strength alone or is it measured by the mental capabilities of a human? Are you saying men do not have weaknesses or can not be weak? A helper is one who gives assistance or support to someone and nobody can survive without an helper. How much more a woman? If the god could create something so beautiful, extraordinary, one who bores life within her for months and delivers it in extreme pain through cleft between her legs and blood dripping down her thighs, her bones breaking with every push - mythical, the stuff of magic even science or religion cannot comprehend.. yet she is demeaned and degraded again and again in the holy books. Beaten, raped, sold and commanded not to speak.

After what seemed like a coup between a god and his creation, Adam and Eve were sent out of this imaginary garden, both having different curses each. The man will toil the earth before he prospers and the woman gets a double.. she will cry her eyes out during child birth including subservience to the man: "your desire will be for your man, and he will rule over you." And so began the divinely ordained paradigm of the subordination of women, straight from the holy books of Christians, Muslims and Jews.

Romance / The Pros And Cons Of Being A Lesbian In Nigeria by Gentlewitch(f): 12:52pm On Jul 15, 2017
Since the signing into law against LGBT groups in Nigeria, there's been several arrests, prosecutions, public lashing and execution of victims. This has forced thousands into hiding since 2013.

People will always hate you because they don't understand you, gay people are already aware of the fact, but this doesn't stop gay people from being happy. They can't kill themselves because the world hates them or feel they'll end up in hell. Oh that talk of hell..

These are the pros and cons of being a lesbian in Nigeria, and yes, those days come when you feel worthless and disgusted. It's a human behavior.

Education / What FEMINISM Really Is. by Gentlewitch(f): 11:18am On Jul 15, 2017
Is it a rebellion against nature and god? Is it a senseless war that will never be won? Is it a systemic strategy created by man to oppress the woman for the fear of the unknown? What is feminism anyway.. what is the fight all about and why? Is it even a fight?

Seven gorgeous Nigerian women and a black American who's smiles reminds me Christmas share their views on feminism and what it truly is.. for it is not a fight but a revolution.

Celebrities / 10 Reasons Why You Should Watch This Short Film, She Found Strength. by Gentlewitch(f): 9:59am On Jul 14, 2017
SHE FOUND STRENGTH is a short film from the stables of Dialogue Box Production. The short is written, produced and directed by the adorable Francisca Eleyela, who also starred along side Ifeoma Ezeigwe.

1. The theme:
The short film focuses on suicide and as we know, once upon a time in Nigeria suicide cases were reportedly high especially in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kano, Delta and Ebony state respectfully. I love the story because it talks about a serious social issue and I am glad filmmakers like Francisca are helping in spreading the word on the silent illness, depression, which is moving a lot of people to commiting suicide.

2. No dialogue:
As the popular saying goes, action speaks louder than words, the short film is actually a silent film. Absolutely no dialogue, the drama alone is so intense, literally kept me on the edge of my chair.

3. Evokes emotion:
The performances by Ifeoma (The depressed young lady who's about to drown herself) and Francisca (The pretty chick that saves the day) was absolutely great, very convincing. We can actually see and feel what the character was going through. One would actually be forced to tears. Especially the part where Francisca came to stop Ifeoma from jumping into the sea. That part made me cry.

iamHighDee:
I'm not being bias (because some people immediately affirm every anti-gay talk to religion), but I think your points are invalid. I'm of the opinion that 'gay' people are just people with serious issues.

You tell us "People can be born gay", but never in the histories of our fathers (I'm authoritatively speaking for Yorubas and Igbos), have we had or heard stories about such abominations, especially for Yoruba people who would immediately spill such abominations via stories so as to warn their kids against them.

Even in the US, when it started slowly, people who were gay were considered mentally ill until it was eventually accepted. My point is you get influenced by a lot of things you learn from others and without knowing, your brain begins to accommodate the idea, and your body in its bid to explore, gets used to it and makes you think its a normal thing.

You want to be gay? Sure. Go ahead. But do not force yourself or your ideology on other people. Do not teach our kids that being gay is normal (You are a part of our society, and whether you like it or not, you teach them these things).

Did you know? some people are now fighting for bestiality and paedophilia as well, because they believe 'love' knows no bounds... Same way homosexual fights started, innit?

Coming from a religious perspective, it's forbidden. And on a final note, this post should not even be here, since the act (homosexuality) is punishable under the laws of the land.

What is a mental illness? What is normal and what is not? What is truth? As humans we see things from our different point of view, we believe everything we know is the truth. Therefore you are right and I am not, and on my side, I am right and you are not. There is no truth.

You speak of homoeroticism in Africa and say our fathers call it abomination.. did you know gay love was practiced in Africa long before the Western civilization came?

Yes, people, culture and traditions change over time, good and bad but the question is.. how does being gay affect anybody? Pedophilia should be condemned because people are being hurt by it. Rape is a bad thing because it leaves the victim traumatized.. but being gay. Is a beautiful thing and not a crime or a sin. It is love in a different form and not everybody will feel this kind of love no matter what.

You say I am imposing my beliefs.. I am not. I am asking you why? Why do you hate me because I prefer the soft thighs of a woman than your erected penis? Abnormal you call it.. how is it abnormal? Are you going to compare me with an insane person? What an insult to my person.. I went to school, I graduated, I have a good job and roof over my head, my partner is interior designer and my colleagues at work love me because I make people happy and you say I am mentally ill?

You know nothing man.

first experience at 11?? having sex at that age is abnormal gay or striaght!! you were abused and brain twisted, but the pleasure was new and exciting for you that you didn't let your parent know about it which could've help you a great deal. and dont bash me pls ain't got nothing against yall les, what I'm saying is if everyone was homosexual like you, this world would be bleeped ........how the hell do you plan to procreate?? when you have men fucking themselves and women doing the same all over?? and stop talking about Jesus and forgiveness pls coz you don't even agree you're sinning...... for you its either Jesus adjust His laws about gays or you're out. I know you trying to justify your dark fantasy and all that but dear women and men are wired for the shit you're doing

If I wanted it, then it's not an abuse.

How does being gay affect anybody?

Everybody sins, my point is.. don't judge gay people because they sin differently.. for all have sinned and if you judge, you will be judge but instead love like he has loved you.

When we start to put god first before humanity, calamity strikes..

Everybody cannot be gay, it is impossible.. so why are you afraid for your daughters and sisters? Not everybody wants children but to be loved by a partner. So that procreation talk is by the way. If I decide not to have kids, it's my decision.. its my business, it's my life.

What is it with humans? You have plenty kids, they talk. You don't want to have kids, they talk. You're straight, they talk. You're gay, they have plenty to talk.

Okk...hope you don't mind me asking me.

2. Have you ever had sex with a guy after your experience in your 11th year? If yes, was the experience different?

3. Have you ever developed a fantasy feeling for the opposite sex? Did you explore those feelings or subdued it?

4. The next question is an extract from here: 8. If a straight girl has fantasies of kissing another girl,
does that make her a lesbian
Likewise, if a lesbian fantasies or develops feelings for the opposite sex, does it mean she is straight or bisexual or still getting to know her sexuality?

5. (this is very important) How do you deal with rejection? You know we guys when we ask a girl out and she says no, we take it as one of those things. But rejection from lesbians may likely come with backlash of insults, curses, abuse, public embarrassment, humiliation and knowing the society we are in, could be a threat to your life. So how do you deal with such?

Thank you.

I've never been with a guy and I don't imagine myself being with one, nor have I had any fantasies of them.. except one time someone drew my attention to it and some unpleasant images kept flashing.

If a lesbian starts having fantasies of the opposite sex it's likely she's moving from les to bi phase.. but I wouldn't know, I've never had those kind of thoughts except once and it wasn't nice.

The rejection is heartbreaking, true. It's why we are careful with telling straight people our feelings. It's why we try not to get involved. It's why many of us have learned and studied the human behavior and figure out who's gay and who's not.

Gentlewitch are you telling me no guy has ever touched those fresh thighs?
2. What made you hate men? Your dad? Uncle?
3. Were you raised by a single parent?
4. What role do you play in the relationship? The protector or the weakling?

Being gay is something that comes natural for some, for people like me.. I wasn't abused or mistreated. I don't hate men, the ones that do are hateful daughters of their fathers.

Being gay doesn't mean you have to hate the opposite sex.

I was raised by two parents.

And the thing about who is the protector, there's no such thing in a real relationship.. we're both women, either of us can protect each other and help each other in our different capacity.
Romance / 10 Reasons Why Older Women Are Bae! by Gentlewitch(f): 9:43am On Jul 13, 2017
I've always been attracted to older women, even since high school. I had this massive crush on my English teacher, Mrs. Esther (How could I forget the name?)

My friends said I was sick and the act was abnormal but I didn't see anything wrong with it at all. I've been in two relationships and they were both older. The beautiful thing about dating an older woman is, you get less drama. Besides that there's this uniqueness about them that just blows me away each time. Here are my top 10 reasons why I think older women are bae.

1. She knows what she wants and how to get it:
You don't even have to worry too much about trying to please an older woman, she knows what she already wants and isn't ashamed to tell you what it is. You will be shocked that she knows how to please you in areas you didnt know existed.

2. Flattering:
She likes to say nice things to make you feel wonderful about yourself which you rarely get from younger girls. These remarks are often times pretty genuine too, they make you want to go the extra mile.

3. Less pressure:
Unlike dating a younger girl, an older woman has her own problems so she doesn't have time to ask you for this or that, instead she understands what you go through as a younger man who has just started life. That is why when you're on a date with her, she wants to pay the bills, that is why she wants you to follow your dreams, and generally take care of you. That's what they're all about, to Carter to you.

4. The sex can be likened to Eden:
What can I say, the sex is always mind blowing. The other beautiful thing about it is she initiates it, unlike a younger girl who wants you to start everything. She is willing to try new styles with you, she will teach a few styles too and let you control the wheel. Though she's older but when it comes to sex, she wants you to control her and give her your everything because that's all she'll ever ask of you. Your love.

5. She doesn't have time reading meaning into things:
Ever had a younger girlfriend who keeps making excuses or complaining about petty things and all that sensitive stuff? Unlike them older woman come straight with you and it will be wise if you come straight with her too and that's it, problem solved.

She wasn't repentant, that wasn't in the Bible.. stop lying to prove a point. She was afraid because she was about to die, the same way many sinners beg god for forgiveness when they are in trouble.. it doesn't mean they wouldn't go back to their vomit.

My point is, Jesus never condemned the woman but loved her. He never judged her and this is what many so called Christians fail to do and this is why many of them will burn in hell (if he'll even exist) you must love unconditionally.

Is it too much to ask for? To love us as you love yourselves?
