You can notice my continuous use of Der, Die and Das in the Alphabets,they are known as the Definite Articles. we are going to study all about them tomorrow.

The 4 special letters are;

Ää (ah) - der Ägypter ( The Egyptian).
Öö (oh) - das Öl (oil).
Üü (uh) - die Überraschung (Surprise).
ß (ess ) - der Fuß (The foot).

Das Alphabet (The Alphabet).

The German alphabet has 26 characters just like English alphabet and 4 special letters(ä,ö,ü,ß) with double dots called Umlauts (die Umlaute).

Aa (ah) - der Apfel (The Apple).
Bb (beh) - das Buch (The Book).
Cc (tseh) - die Chemie (The Chemistry).
Dd (deh) - die Decke (The Ceiling).
Ee (eh) - das Eis (The Ice).
Ff (eff) - der Füller (The Fountain pen).

Ii (eeh) - der Igel ( The Hedgehog).
