Quakertellicus1: Will you people stop making cracks about that promise....and go and face the fact that since 1956....Southern Nigeria has not been able to build a refinery from scratch. Or that Nigerian companies are not ready to even develop the technology to build refineries.
You people just want to chop oil money. You do not want development. You are still angry about an election that held ages ago....because it means that your opportunities for eating have been lost to the North.
Well.....you and your northern pals better face facts. The era of oil is over. It was fun while it lasted...but now...whether together or apart...we must use our brains, stop blaming other people...and work for our development.
No more money to chop. what is this "our" you are harping about? You don't even have a country yet and you are busy giving grandiose theories that would never see the light of day due to too much national entropy. Are you people blind or just dull? |

rusher14: Even before the man became president you called him all sort of names.
You disliked him for being a northerner. For being a muslim. For being a general.
You are the divisive ones.
Till date there's never been a policy, plan, statement from the stable of the ruling government that has pleased you.
Rather you must find a fault even if it would be of benefit to you directly.
You lot are the tribalists.
Then you claim your America.
Anarchists looking for failure of their own kinsmen.
Sorry, I really don't know what you are talking about. I don't need to like a president. Obama is not liked by all Americans which is expected. That does not give the president the right to be divisive. It is my right as an electorate in a democratic society not to like a president for whatever reason. It is his duty to win me over, not bully me to submission. |

He knows the most common fear that resonate through all Americans which is terrorism, and that has been the thrust of his campaign. |

The writer also pointed that Ethiopia launched a light rail across it'll boarder smthing that dat d fastest and second growing economies cannot boast of which is Nigeria and South Africa respectively. of course they have much better leadership than Nigeria. My only problem is with the recent China hype. The same China that was already building rails, roads, and power stations in Nigeria as far as 2013. The same China that was already supplying your army and Navy MRaps and warships since 2014. There nothing new about China. |

pheliciti: What do you understand as fiscal federalism? Have you ever read a copy of the PIB? Stop repeating clichés without understanding. Please think of this question, what more can fiscal federalism do for Bayelsa that is owing workers' salaries despite receiving record allocations monthly? There was poverty in those places even when we made $130 per barrel! And hoping my country does well is not chasing shadows, it shouldn't be for you, except you're a masochist. And to correct you, i own my share of the country and I'm sure you can own yours with hardwork and the right attitude. No need to be bitter. Fiscal federalism briefly is autonomous States taking charge of their vehicles of production. It invariably confers adequate economic power on the states without backward federal oversight and bottleneck. Bayelsa is a poor state because it has been rendered a mere giant oil well pumping oil for parasites and dictators. The state does not have the wherewithal or legal standing to add value to its own resources how best it see fit, because the National budget is hanging on how much oil is sold. And yes, you are chasing shadows if you believe a divisive president will take you to the promise land in eight years. You are chasing shadows if you believe the enemy of your country are fellow citizens like you who see the president as hopeless and rightly so. A president whose legacy after a brief eight years would be a couple of road projects and a highly divided country on the brink. And no, you do not own shitt in your country. You can't even get fuel to power your generators. |

enlightenedmind: I do not support full autonomy because we still have corruption. There should be a nationalist and socialist bill that require states to take charge of ensuring regions r not marginalized. The resources must be managed at d federal level. Autonomy means states can make decision s on foreign policies. No way. That is deadly. States can have d power over how the benefits of resources is allocated but not how it used. That must be at d top. What we really need is to begin to train good leaders. Patriotic authoritarians with democracy at civil level. Not at the top. US states can not make decisions on foreign policy, yet they are more autonomous, independent and progressive than Nigeria as a country. Look at the backward country you want others to share with you. Sad. |
