A 2017 UN report states that Nigeria has the highest number of out of school children and has hovered at the top three countries in the world ranking since 2013.

Here are some of the best quotes on education

Jean Piaget the Swiss psychologist who is remembered for conducting a systematic study of the acquisition of understanding in children and is also widely considered to be the most important figure in the 20th-century developmental psychology said "The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things."

It is with this understanding that Global Family funds on Education have set up a foundation that is geared towards creating and fostering opportunities for future generations to be empowered for innovations for global impact with Africa as its primary focal point.

Education / Is There Any Hope For The Nigerian Education Sector? by GFFundsOnEdu: 4:22pm On May 02, 2018
Despite the fact that the nation launched the Universal Primary Education (UPE) in 1976, a 2017 UN report states that Nigeria has the highest number of out of school children and has hovered at the top three countries in the world ranking since 2013.

It is beyond saddening that Of the 10.5 million out of school children in Nigeria, only 5 percent of the primary school–aged kids are dropouts while three-quarter of the children who aren't receiving education presently are likely to never even step foot inside of a classroom.

This dire situation has been blamed on various factors such as Culture and poor enrollment but the biggest culprit is the lack of money necessitated by corruption and mismanagement.

Government funded schools in Nigeria have practically collapsed over the years because of poor funding, while majority of primary schools, especially in rural areas, lack basic amenities such as water, electricity and toilet facilities.

The situation is worse in the northern part of the country where UNICEF estimates that 60% of Nigerian children not attending school live and almost two-thirds of students are functionally illiterate.

What do you think can be done to assuage this situation before it is too late?
