All right, I'll give you a longer oneStellamarisIII: |
NENE "Richard is having an affair, do you know that?" Nene told Cassie casually. "Richard Ke, How can Richard cheat on you? He's devoted to you" Cassie said. "Devoted indeed, he's not only a gold digger he's a cheat" Nene hissed. Dara rolled her eyes as she came into the living room with a drink. "I don't think that he's a gold digger, if he's cheating you probably pushed him to do it" Dara said. "Darasimi, how can are you say that?" Nene asked hissing at her friend's comment. "Nene, Dara is right. If you weren't like a sister to us, we wouldn't tell you. You're ruining your marriage yourself. You rarely cook for him, you don't do chores, you disrespect him. You don't even have sex with your husband, so how do you expect him not to cheat. Body no be firewood" Cassie said. "That's no reason for him to cheat, I'm pregnant. You can't expect me to cook everyday, do chores or fück him. It's dangerous for me" Nene defended stupidly. Dara laughed amused. "Oh please Nene, pregnancy won't stop you from doing those things. You're just being a lazy and terrible wife. Listen to me, if you want Richie to start treating you like a jewel then you have to start doing your duties as a wife. If you don't, you will lose your husband" Dara warned. "He won't leave me" Nene bragged. "You think so? Nene you better change. Richard is a rare gem, now that you have him you better hold him tight. Shine your eyes o, one Lagos babe go just snatch am from you. You will regret it if you lose him" Dara warned. "Fine, Fine whatever. I will change" Nene rolled her eyes. "Nene promise me, I will hate for you to get hurt. You know you're my close friend, please change. Don't ruin your marriage" Cassie begged. "For Christ sake let me be, I've heard you" Nene hissed. Richard should be grateful that he had her, instead the bastàrd was paying her with unfaithfulness. Hmmmm, she'd pay him back. She'd think of a plan and deal with him. He'd regret messing with her, she promised herself. |
CASSIE Cassie sat on her bed nervous what did Dele mean by he'd handle it. She'd already heard the sound of Tobi's car and wondered what next would happen. Would she really sleep with Dele tonight, could she cheat on her unfaithful husband? Dele was the one who answered the door when Tobi got back. "Hey brother" he grinned. "Dele" Tobi acknowledged. Dele moved out of the way, he couldn't help but grin again. Tonight I'll be fùcking your precious wife, he thought. "Cassie in?" Tobi asked dropping his blazer and leather file. "I think so, come on man let's catch up. Have a drink with me?" Dele said. "A drink? I just got back Dele. I haven't even seen my wife yet or had a shower and dinner. The drinking can wait" Tobi said. "come on, I'll be going out soon. Celebrate with me before I go" Dele said. "All right" Tobi followed his brother into the mini parlour. "What are we celebrating?" Tobi asked watching Dele pop a bottle of champagne. "I just finished up a deal today, I figured I'll celebrate with my big brother" Dele lied. He handed Tobi a glass of champagne. Tobi accepted the drink and lifted it up to the air. "To more wealth" He said smiling at his brother. "More wealth" Dele smiled. "I'm having just one drink, I have to go upstairs to Cassie" Tobi said. "Come on brother when did you become a püssy. Cassie has got you so whipped that why she treats you like dirt" Dele frowned. Tobi chuckled shaking his head, "I don't think you get it Dele, I love Cassie. One day you'd fall in love with a woman and I bet she'd drive you crazy like that" Tobi said. "I did, don't you remember. I even engaged her, too bad my brother couldn't keep it in his pants" Dele frowned angrily. Tobi stilled " Dele, she wasn't good enough for me. She came on to me, that's not the kind of woman you marry Dele. You should be happy you never married her, I'm sorry" Tobi said remorseful. Lies, Dele thought. "It doesn't matter anymore, it's a closer chapter" Dele said. He watched Tobi carefully waiting for the pill to set in. Soon you'd fall asleep brother and I'm going to go upstairs to your bed and fück your bloody wife. Hopefully I'll get her pregnant too, Dele smiled to himself. Twenty minutes later Tobi dozed off on the couch. "Fucking bastárd, you will pay for what you did to me and what you did to the love of my life. Dele swore loudly before going upstairs to devour the sheep. |
OK thank you yhungbrowhne: |
DARA Jidenna wrapped his hand around his wife basking in the post sex glow. "J, sooner or later you'll have to man up and ask your family to leave" Dara said. Jidenna glared at her and pulled away. "Dara this is not what I want to hear after sex with my wife. Leave this family issue alone, my family isn't going anywhere get used to it" Jidenna said getting out of bed. "I'm your family too J, I want a family with you too but not when your family is occupying our house!" Dara said. "What is wrong with you Dara, where is this coming from?" Jidenna frowned. Why was she bringing up his family now and why the hell did she even have to bring up his family? He wore his sweatpants and T-shirt before returning to bed. "J.....I'm not happy" Dara murmured. "Don't start Dara and don't even try to shed those crocodile tears. You're being selfish, this house is freaking big for everyone. You have the whole upper part of the house to yourself, why can't you live with my family" Jidenna shouted. "You know why, your mother hates me, your sister and your brother has absolutely no respect for me J" Dara complained. Jidenna rolled his eyes and turned his back to her. "J... You said you were going to make me happy. You promised, you said you'd do anything for me" Dara reminded him. "Don't even play that card with me Dara, I've done everything you wanted. You pushed me into buying this house, I've given you everything you asked for" Jidenna frowned. "I wanted this house for us and our babies, not your family Dara said. "Dara please let me be, I'm not in the mood for this" Jidenna said. Dara was about to reply him when they heard the knock on the door. Dara hissed "See what I'm talking about, no freaking privacy" she said before moving into the bathroom. Jidenna hissed, women and their troubles. Nothing can ever please a woman, he got up and went to the door. "Lanna what is it?" he asked his junior sister at the door. "Brother, you need to come downstairs now. Pastor Levi and Mazi uchendu are downstairs" Olanna replied. Jidenna looked at her confused. "Who invited our pastor and why is uncle here?" Jidenna asked his sister. "Brother, ask your mother when you get downstairs. She said you should come with aunt Dara" Olanna said before walking away. Jidenna shook his head confused. What has his mother done this time? He had to think of a way to get rid of his family without hurting their feelings, lately he hadn't gotten any ideas. He was hoping they'd up and leave. Hopefully soon before he loses his mind and sends them out. |
NENE "I asked for lavender, lavender! Do you ever get anything right Richard? Our baby is coming soon and the room isn't properly fixed" Nene screamed. Richard sighed and sat beside her. "You're tensed baby, I'll order the lavender sheets tomorrow. Stop stressing, it's bad for the baby" Richard said rubbing her shoulder. "Stop it, don't touch me" she shoved him away. "Nene, I'll get the lavender sheets tomorrow. I just saw the violet flowery bedsheets and felt it was better for the baby" Richard explained. "You think you know what's best for my baby?" Nene scoffed. Richard looked at her perplexed, for the past few days he'd done everything Nene wanted. He turned himself into her freaking servant and she wouldn't stop behaving this way. It was terrible, Nene is spoilt, ungrateful and insatiable. "Nene, I can make a few decisions concerning these things. I want what's best for our baby too" Richard said. "Get out!" she said. Richard said nothing else and walked out of the nursery. He called Idara when he stepped out of the house. "How much longer? I can't stand this woman. She drives me nuts, she's fùcking crazy and she's a freaking insatiable brat. I can't keep on pretending to care about her! I hate her." Richard groaned. "Richard my team and I are working on it. Soon you'll be a free man, trust me" Idara promised. "Okay, no problem. I've heard you" Richard sighed rubbing his jaw. "I'll call you tomorrow morning" Idara said before ending the call. He turned to go inside when he saw Nene by the doorway. "Nene" he started unsure of what she'd heard. Nene stood rooted to her spot, staring at the same Richard who had been acting really sweet and different for the past few days. "Nene, what are you doing downstairs? I thought you were decorating the baby's room" Richard said. "I just wanted to tell you that I decided to use the violet sheets" Nene said. She crossed her arms and pretended like she hadn't heard the conversation between him and God knows who. "Oh" he smiled. "I was just speaking with the clerk at the store. I'll tell her not to bother sending the lavender sheets anymore since you want to use the violets" he said. Nene nodded before going back into the house, Richard followed grateful that Nene hadn't heard his conversation. "I'm going to Cassie's house" Nene rushed shoving her phone and her wallet inside her bag. "Should I drop you off?" Richard asked. Nene shook her head before picking up her bag. She turned to Richard. He's always been a liar, she wondered why he was pretending now. Who he was talking with, the things he was doing behind her back. "I'll be going over to my parent's house. Goodbye" She said. "Nene, is everything okay?" Richard asked. He wondered If he'd done something wrong that she wanted to report to her parents. "I'm fine" she said grumpily before leaving the room. She'd find out what Richard was hiding, she already suspected that he was having an affair. She'd be watching him like a hawk from now on. |
FOUR CASSIE She was no saint, Dele knew that. He knew if he kept pushing her buttons she'd give in eventually. But when? he wondered He had to have her, afterwards he's gloat to Tobi. Tell him how he had fücked his beloved wife. He also intended to get her pregnant with his bastard. A bastard like him, all his life Dele had struggled to be accepted by the ademola's but he was always regarded as the family's bastard. The mistake and Tobi always got the better end of the deal, the love, the family's pride, the inheritance. Tobi even had a lot of beautiful women flocking around him but it wasn't enough for him was it? He'd seduced Tessy, the woman he'd intended to marry three years ago. Dele had been heartbroken when Tessy broke off their engagement only for him to find out a month later that she'd done it to be with Tobi. She was equally pregnant for Tobi, but nine months later Tessy had died along with her baby. Tobi had merely mourned her, he'd compensated her family with money and moved on to the next woman. It was Dele who had mourned Tessy every night and sworn that he would revenge. The opportunity presented itself when Tobi found love, a certain Cassandra who occupied all his attention he was ready to settle down and start a family. Dele knew what had to be done, seduce Cassandra. Get her pregnant and leave. And she was quite easy, his mission would be accomplished soon he assured himself. "I love this dress on you Cassandra" Dele smiled wickedly when he saw her entering the house. "Dele, good evening" Cassie replied uneasy. He was the reason she's left the house. She didn't want to give into Dele, the temptations were getting hotter. Occasionally he'd caress her waist, faintly kiss her neck. "But I can imagine what a pretty sight you will be without the dress" Dele flirted shamelessly. "You can't say things like that to me Dele, I'm your brother's wife" Cassie protested weakly. Dele cornered her till her back was against the wall. "But you like it when I talk dirty to you, don't you?" Dele bit her ear. "Dele....please stop" Cassie said. "I know you're unhappy beauty, I can make you very happy" Dele said. His lips fell to her parted ones and he kissed her. Cassie didn't hesitate to kiss him back, throwing her arms around his neck. "You're exquisite, I can show you just how beautiful you are" Dele whispered. His hands brushed against her breâsts and felt the hard nubs of her nipples. See... Easy. At this rate, his work would soon be done. "Come to my room tonight" Dele said. "I can't, Tobi" She whispered. "I'll take care of him, Just come. You won't regret it" He kisses her again before pulling away. Cassie watched him walk away, her heart raced and she pressed her hand to her lips. Could she get him out of her system forever, just one night and she'd been done. One night. |
DARA Mrs Okolie watched her son chop tomatoes happily for his wife. She looked baffled as she watched the both of them in the kitchen. "See his head, despite how I raised him he's contented with being a slave for his wife. Mba, this is not ordinary" she decided convinced that her son was under a spell. "J, don't cut it like that na. Dice it into smaller pieces" Dara said coming over to look at what he was doing. "Yes madam" he smiled kissing her lightly on her lips. "What is this nonsense? Is this the kitchen or your bedroom. Take that rubbish play into your bedroom" Mrs Okolie hissed angrily. "Mama if you aren't comfortable with the heat, leave the kitchen" Dara said wrapping her arms around Jidenna. "Yes mum, Dara and I are handling the cooking. Go and watch TV and relax" Jidenna said returning his attention to the tomatoes. "Tah! kpuchie ọnụ. That's all she does, confuse you. She can't give you children, yet you remain in the marriage. You act as if you're not your father's son" Mrs Okolie hissed. "Honey, slice the carrots when you're done with the tomatoes please" Dara ignored her mother in law. "Slice what carrot, if this is how your mother turned your father into a slave you won't succeed with my son ndi amoosu. Tell your people, you have failed" Mrs Okolie. Jidenna chuckled but Dara didn't find it funny at all. "Mama again with the theatrics, I'm simply helping Dara to hasten up the food preparation. I'm hungry or aren't you?" Jidenna asked amused. Dara glared at him, he found this funny? His mother calling her a witch. Mrs Okolie only crossed her feet and watched disgusted. "Baby hurry up" Dara urged Jidenna just to annoy his mother. "Almost done baby" Jidenna replied. "Chai, adịghị ike bụ ihe ọjọọ. My son has become a woman's slave" She got up from her stool and walked out of the kitchen shaking her head. Dara laughed heartily. "Seriously your mum is a character" she laughed. "You should ignore her or she'd keep frustrating you" Jidenna advised. "I just wish we were alone right now, mmmm. Privacy, we can't even bang in the kitchen or anywhere else in this house because of your people" Dara pouted. Jidenna chuckled "Oh Now you're trying to manipulate me with sex. Come on sweet heart, soon they'll get tired and Leave. Just endure for the main time " Jidenna kissed his wife. Last night he'd discussed with Adanna's husband Emeka and he'd talked about moving out in a few months. He didn't tell Dara that though, didn't want to fill her with high hopes. In due time, they'll get their privacy and perhaps Dara will consider having a baby. |
NENE Nene was surprised when Richard got in early, she'd been expecting him to come home late as usual. She kept a straight face as he walked into the house. They'd both said enough this morning and she didn't want to talk to him at all. "Good evening Nene" He sat opposite her. She ignored him, her eyes stuck on the television. "Nene" he called her again. "Richard don't start" she spat angrily. "Can't I get a welcome from my wife?" he asked smiling. "What wife? You told me the only thing I am to you is your baby carrier l. I'm not your wife, that's why you don't care about me. You treat me like crap" Nene hissed. "You treat me like crap too Nene" Richard countered. "This is why I can't stand you, you never admit your mistakes. You're so infuriating" Nene hissed getting up from the chair. Richard remembered Idara's words and reminded himself that he had to thread with caution. He came up behind her and wrapped his hands around her waist. "Promise I'll treat you better from now on" he breathed down her neck. Nene frowned still not convinced. "You can start by apologizing to daddy, you've refused to show up at work" She said. "Well I would call your father but you've destroyed my mobile" He said. "You can use mine" Nene insisted. "Okay, honey. Anything for you, where's your phone?" he asked. "Upstairs" Nene murmured grumpily wondering what switch had been turned on. He'd been really mad in the morning and now he was acting like nothing had happened in the morning. She naively concluded that he'd probably run out of money and needed her help again. "Richie" she followed him to the room. "Yes honey" He replied fishing out her phone from her drawer. "Why are you being nice all of a sudden?" she smirked as if she had discovered a huge secret. "I can't be nice to my wife?" he asked her. "Need any favors?" she asked. "It's not that Nene, I've just had enough of our fights. I'm going to do anything you want just to please you" Richard said. Nene crossed her arms still not convinced, the Richard she'd married was an accomplished schemer she decided. How else had he succeeded in becoming the son in law of Amaechi Nwankwo? Nene was convinced that He'd gotten her drunk purposely and taken her to bed. Luckily for him, she'd gotten pregnant. Huge score for him, he got promoted and got a wife. She'd never trust him, low classes bred people were never to be trusted. Richard might be married into her rich family now but she'd always see him as the same poor Richard. "In that case, you should do the dishes in the kitchen" she eyed him before leaving the room. Richard sighed wondering how long he's put up with Nene, he'd pretend to love her just because Idara had instructed him to. He'd become her slave for his freedom. |
CASSIE The noise from the room startled Cassie and broke her out of her reverie. "Tobi" she called from the bathroom. There was no response, she called the second time but there was still no response so she grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her wet body. "Tobi" she walked into her bedroom and met a woman rummaging through Tobi's closet. "Who are you and what are you doing in my bedroom?" Cassie asked the strange woman confused. Who was she and most importantly why was she in her bedroom. "Oh, you must be the wife" the lady smirked eyeing Cassie condescendingly. "And you are?" Cassie frowned. "I'm Tayo, I'm the mother of his first son" The woman replied. "That doesn't explain why you're in my bedroom" Cassie crossed her arms. "Calm down you, this is also Tobi's room and you aren't the only woman in his life. I can come in here anytime I like, I'm the mother of his child and you what claim do you have?" the woman hissed. Cassie gaped at the woman in disbelief, she was in no mood to argue or fight so she went to her closet and wore a T-shirt and leggings. The woman can keep the room to herself, she walked out of the room without sparing the other woman a glance. Tobi was downstairs in the kitchen with his sons. "Why is that woman in our bedroom?" Cassie asked. "What woman?" Tobi asked confused. "Don't play games with me, you brought one of your women here didn't you?" She nearly yelled at him. "Cassie, Tayo wanted to use the bathroom. I had no idea, she'd go to the one in our room" Tobi explained then he apologized. "Everyday Tobi, every freaking day you push me to the edge. To the damn edge Tobi" she hissed and walked out of the kitchen. She went straight to Dele's room and knocked. "Hey...why is there such a frown on this pretty face, what has my idiot brother done?" Dele asked smiling when he opened the door and saw Cassie. "I need your help, could you drop me off at my mom's house? My car is at the mechanic" Cassie said. "Sure, come in. Let me get dressed then we'll go" Dele smiled. Cassie hesitated, the man was pure temptation and she'd vowed to stay away from him. He made her feel foreign feelings that she wasn't used to. "I won't bite....yet. come on" Dele urged. Cassie walked into his room and looked around. It was still the same plain guest room, he hadn't decorated. She sat on the sofa and waited for Dele to get dressed. "Cassie" he said coming out of his bedroom. "My brother might be an idiot, but I'm not. I see beauty and I know how to appreciate it. If you ever need anything, anything at all. Come to me, I'll be happy to fulfill your needs" Dele winked. Cassie shivered, not from cold but from the naked hunger in his eyes. She could tell he was undressing her with his eyes and eyefücking her. Didn't he know she was forbidden, she was his blöody brother's wife. Forbidden things were so enticing. where Dele was concerned, she was another eve. She wanted a bite. |
DARA Dara wrapped her arms around Jidenna. "I'm sorry" She sobbed. "I just can't believe you Dara, you know how badly I want children. You could have talked with me first" Jidenna said. "You would have said no J, look I just don't want your to bring a baby into this commotion. You know I want children too" she sobbed. Jidenna rubbed her head comfortingly. "Next time, we talk first D" Jidenna said. "You never take my own opinion, when is she leaving. Her husband already has a job, they can afford a house now. And while your mum is here who is taking care of the house at Enugu. Jidenna listen to me, we've never really had privacy together. I can't do certain things in this house because of your family" Dara said. Jidenna sighed thinking over it. "Family is Family Dara, I can't send them away. I can only talk to them about it, I'll try to Make them understand" Jidenna sat on the bed. "J but it's your house, they have to listen to you. Adanna is already snooping around our room, she has no respect for our privacy" Dara pushed the subject. "I don't want to discuss this now Dara, I'm tired. I just want to go to bed" Jidenna said. "Jidenna please, can't you see I'm unhappy?" Dara asked. "And I want to make you happy Oluwadarasimi but you're asking for way too much. Why can't you get along with my family." Jidenna shouted. "All right J, whatever you want" Dara said. It didn't matter what she said anyway, Jidenna's family was more important to him than her happiness. She picked up her container of pills and shoved it into her wardrobe. "Aren't you getting rid of that?" Jidenna asked frowning. "Why? I told you already if you want a baby then you have to get your family to leave. I'm not having a baby with your damn family in my house" Dara hissed. "Dara what has gotten into you?" Jidenna asked perplexed. "You want your family to stay in this house? fine but don't expect me to do anything for them. Not even your mother, and make sure they stay out of my business, including your mother" Dara said. She was done putting up with Jidenna's family and their nonsense. She was going to serve them trouble if they gave her trouble too. Jidenna shook his head at his wife's behavior, he convinced himself that she was just overreacting and she'd get over it in the morning. |
NENE Nene waited for Richard to come out of the guest room. Since he'd locked himself there all night, she hadn't been able to reach him. These days she didn't even see him at all. He came home really late and went straight to the guest room and he wasn't going to work either. She'd purposely gotten up early in hopes that she would block him on his way out. The door came open at last and she watched him walk out, his phone stuck to his ear. "Richard" she called him but he ignored her. She went up to him and pulled the phone away flinging it to the other side of the room. "Nene, why do you enjoy provoking me!" Richard yelled. A slap hit his face. "Are you stupid, what do you think you're doing? You're avoiding me, avoiding my father's calls and work. Who do you think you are?" she screamed at him. "Listen to me little girl, don't try this stunt you just pulled this morning again . I know a couple of pregnant women who didn't die or lose their baby from a few slaps" Richard grasped her shoulders. "I have no business with your family, I'm here for my baby. Tell your father I quit, I'm not longer interested in working for him. I already submitted my resignation letter" Richard said. Nene pulled away from him and glared at him. "You're just a stupid ungrateful fool" Nene spat. "And you're a rich spoilt bîtch Nene! Grow the fück up, when do you stop being a baby. Daddy this, daddy that, you're a disgrace" Richard moved away and went to get his phone. "And you've ruined my freaking phone Nene!" Richard said angrily. "Serves you right" Nene hissed. Richard glared at her. "The only reason I'm not going to walk out on this marriage and my unborn child is because I don't want he or she to end up like you" Richard said walking out of the house. "What took you so long?" Idara asked when she saw Richard. "I'm sorry there, family issues" he said taking idara's hand. If he hadn't gotten drunk and slept with that brat at home he probably would have married Idara. They were so good together, the perfect couple but alcohol had ruined everything. And he would never touch another drop of alcohol in his life. "How's your wife and baby?" Idara asked. "That's what I want to talk about Idara, I need your help" Richard sighed. "What's wrong?" she asked concerned. "I'm deep in trouble Idara and I need to get out, my marriage is hell. I want to get out of it, but I want joint custody of my child if possible full custody. I need you to help me" Richard turned to Idara. Idara looked at the only man she'd ever loved, the man who had been with her through thick and thin. They would have gotten married, he looked so unhappy now. Was there still hope for them? she still wanted him, she's never stopped wanting them. "Of course Richie, I will help you. I guess as payback for all the time you supported me in law school. It's a good thing I'm a lawyer and divorce is my specialty. Leave everything to me, I will get you full custody of your child" Idara smiled. "Thank you idara, thank you so much. How can I pay you back?" Richard grinned. "I can think of a few ways but let's wait till you're divorced" Idara teased. Richard chuckled and rubbed her arm. "Thank you" he said. "It's okay, just do me a favor okay. Till we file for divorce, be good to Nene. Do everything she wants, be the model husband. I'll handle the rest" Idara said. "Okay" Richard nodded. Idara grinned. "I have to get back to work, I'll be in touch" Idara said and hugged Richard. Richard hugged her too, wondering how he'd missed someone like Idara in his life. Idara patted his back and pulled away. "Bye Richard" she got into her car. Once she was in her car, she called her PA, "Hello Bayo, I need you to find every dirt on Amaechi Nwankwo, his wife and their daughter. I'm about to hit them, gather enough dirt to cause a blast" she ordered. Richard needed her help and she would help him. She would get him his wish, divorce and full custody of his child. |
THREE CASSIE "How do you want to me to just forget!" Cassie screamed at Tobi. "Forget you were shoving your dick into a teenager, forget you have sons, forget you are in a cult? Am I amnesiac?" Cassie shouted. "Then pretend, pretend like it never happened. Let's start over Cassandra. Pretend I'm not in a cult, pretend I never cheated you on you. I won't ask you to pretend that I don't have children Cassandra because I love my children, and I want to have kids with you Cassie. Please pretend, pretend I'm just the Tobi you fell in love with" Tobi said. Cassie picked up her night robe and slipped it on. "You're delusional, what do you think this is, fiction?" She asked and wore her slippers. "We can't keep going on like this, we have to try something" Tobi said. "Try setting me free from this marriage" Cassie walked out of the room. She bumped into Dele as she was entering the kitchen. "Goodmorning my sister in law" Dele said cheerfully. "Good morning Dele, how was your night?" she asked. "It could've been better" he winked walking out of the kitchen a plate and cup in his hands. Cassie sighed and went to the refrigerator. How did Tobi want her to pretend, how can she even pretend behind closed doors? She picked up a can of beer from the Fridge. "Beer this early in the morning" Dele asked from behind her. Cassie felt his breath on her ears and turned sharply putting them in a compromising position. "Dele" she shifted. "Did you have a rough night?" he asked taking the can of beer from her. He smiled and opened it, taking a sip. "You can always come to my room.... To talk" Dele said handing her the beer. He turned to leave the kitchen. Cassie remained in her position confused. "Nice bra" he said walking out of the kitchen. Cassie looked wide-eyed and saw that her robe was untied. She quickly pulled the sash together and shut the fridge. She had to stay away from Dele, he seemed like trouble and she already had enough trouble in her life. "Cassie" Tobi called from the doorway. Cassie looked up immediately, still flustered. "You okay?" Tobi asked noticing her jumpiness. "I'm fine, don't you have work to go to?" she frowned. "The kids are coming over tonight, I want you to meet them" Tobi said. "And their mothers?" Cassie asked frowning. "They won't be here Cassie, see you at dinner. Have a lovely day, I love you" Tobi turned to go. I love you too.....he hurt her but she still loved him. Why was everything so damn complicated. She picked up the can of beer and took a long sip. Fleetingly she wondered what Dele's lips would taste like. |
Thank you Cadec007: |
Ah thank you. I'm trying Ayemileto: |
DARA "Aunty Dara went out since morning and she's not yet back" It was the first thing Olanna said to Jidenna when he got back. "Olanna She's probably with her friends and that how to greet your elder brother" Jidenna teased. His little sister was his favorite and she was the only one that got along with Dara in the house. "I just wanted you to know that mama has prepared a lecture for you" Olanna smiled. "Tatafo would you get into that kitchen and make eba for everyone in this house. Oh I will cook soup and still make eba for everyone. Since the madam of the house has gone out and forgotten that she has duties in the house" Adanna hissed coming to meet Olanna and Jidenna in the hall way. Jidenna frowned, he didn't understand why his family found fault in everything Dara did. That's why Dara felt suffocated everytime. Jidenna acknowledged his elder sister and walked into the living room bracing himself for his mother's sermon. "Mama Good evening" he kissed her cheeks. "Thank God you're home, where's your wife?" Mama asked. "She should be out with her friends, what's the matter?" Jidenna asked loosening his tie. "Your wife is the cause of your childlessness" Mama said. "Mama not again, children are God's gift. What's the rush? Dara and I will have children" Jidenna sighed. "Jidenna what she means is that Your wife has been taking contraceptives" Adanna shoved a bottle of pills into his Hand. Jidenna eyed the container critically. "Where did you get this?" He frowned at Adanna. "Your wife's make up bag, I was looking for nail paint when I found it" Adanna said. Jidenna didn't know how to scold his elder sister for going through Dara's things in their room. He looked at the bottle of pills again, why was Dara taking contraceptives? "You must be mistaken, Dara wouldn't take contraceptives. She... " he paused. She knew he wanted children, she wouldn't take contraceptives. As if on cue, Dara walked into the house. Her smile faded when she saw mama and Adanna sitting in the living room. She walked to jidenna. "Baby" she kissed jidenna. He pushed her away slightly. "What is this?" he shoved the bottle of pills at her. She looked at her bottle of pills, "Where did you get this?" she asked. "Does it matter, is it yours or not?" He asked angrily. "Yes... " She admitted. Jidenna shook his head and picked up his brief case. He looked at her in disbelief before walking out of the living room. Dara knew that Jidenna would never go through her things, which meant it was his mother or Adanna. She eyed them with disdain before going after her husband. She had to explain to him, she didn't want a baby now. Not with His mother and the rest of his family members in the house. The influence they would have on her child, she didn't want that. She had to make him understand her reasons for going on birth control. |
NENE Nene got into the house after dinner coming back from the usual Sunday family dinner at her father's house. "Richie!!." she shouted walking into the living room. She sat down on the sofa wondering where he was. He hadn't come to the dinner with her and she'd left him off the hook because he'd complained of headache. "Richard!" she shouted glaring at nothing in particular. She got up from the chair and walked to the kitchen herself to get a glass of water. Her eyes darkened when she saw a woman cooking in her kitchen. "What the hell are you doing in my kitchen?" she yelled at the woman. "Kainene how are you?" the woman turned to look at her smiling. "Please leave my kitchen" Nene said frowning when she realized it was Richard's mother. "I was just making dinner for my son" Richard's mother looked appalled at Nene's behavior. Nene crossed her arms angrily waiting for the woman to leave. "The rice is almost ready" His mother continued before picking up a hand towel to clean her hands. She walked out of the kitchen and went into the living room. Nene hissed before taking down the pot from the cooker. "Nene, why are you shouting all over the house?" Richard frowned entering the kitchen. "Why is your mother in this house and why was she cooking in my kitchen?" Nene attacked him immediately. Richard looked confused, wasn't his own mother allowed into the house again? "Don't give me that stupid look, answer me. Does this house look like a guest house? " Nene said emptying the contents of the pot into the sink. "Nene isn't my own mother allowed into my house again?" Richard asked. "Your house, can you afford anything in this house Richard? Everything belongs to my father. You should have asked for my permission before bringing your mother into my house" she shouted at him. Richard looked at her in disbelief, she was so vain and selfish. "If your house is so precious to you Nene, then why don't you enjoy it alone" Richard hissed walking out of the kitchen. "Don't you dare walk out on me!" Nene followed him as he went upstairs. Richard picked up his wallet and a backpack. He shoved some T-shirts and trousers into the bag. "Enjoy your father's house Nene" he said going downstairs. "Richard, come back here. I'm talking to you!" she yelled following him downstairs. "Mum let's go" he said. "Go where? Richard I'm fine. Stay with your wife, remember she's carrying your child. That's what is important" his mother murmured rubbing her hand in a comforting gesture down his back. So many times he'd been tempted to walk out on Nene and her Family but he couldn't. His child with Nene was important to him and that was why he stayed. "Goodnight Nene" Richard's mother smiled before walking out of the house. "You're a disgrace! You were going to walk out on your wife and your unborn child" Nene spat eyeing him with disgust. "Wife, You call yourself a wife Nene. All you are to me is the vessel carrying my unborn child" He hissed. "You're useless to me" he said walking out on her. He went into one of the guest rooms. He switched off his phone knowing Nene would soon call her father who as usual would call to scold him. Nene can keep the rest of the house to herself, from today he'd keep his distance away from her. Might as well start looking for another job because he wanted nothing to do with her father or his company again. |
CASSIE Cassie watched her mother laugh at Tobi's jokes. "Take care of my daughter, she can be stubborn sometimes but she's really soft on the inside" Miss Evelyn said. "Yeah, I know. We will be leaving now. We'll see you next Sunday" Tobi smiled. He turned to Cassie and watched her say goodbye to her mother before heading to the car. "Maybe your mum should move in with us Cassie" Tobi smiled. "Why? I doubt she'd be excited to stay with a cultist" Cassie hissed. "I am not a cultist, I'm simply hooked in tradition" Tobi replied. "The difference being?" Cassie asked. Tobi didn't bother to explain himself again, Cassie would never understand. "Cassandra I love you, I want you to know I would never hurt you" Tobi said. "You have already hurt me Tobi, I doubt you can change that. Why didn't you tell me you had children? Or you have an insatiable appetite for sex, or your family's cult?" Cassie asked. "I didn't think you'd understand Cassie, I love you and I didn't want to lose you" He said. "You already have, I might not be able to get out of this marriage but don't think you have me" Cassie hissed. "Cassie I know you love me, I know you still do. We can work things out" Tobi suggested. "Can you stay faithful to me?" Cassie asked. "I can't promise you that Cassie, I don't want to lie to you again" Tobi said. "That's all I need to hear, I can't love a liar on a cheat" Cassie said. They remained silent through out the rest of the drive, there was nothing else to be said. Tobi didn't know what else to tell her, hopefully with time she'd get over it. He drove into the compound and saw a benz parked outside the house. He rolled his eyes and got down from the car. "Who is that?" Cassie asked getting down from the car. "Hello brother" The tall man addressed Cassie. "Brother?" Cassie turned to Tobi. "Cassie meet my brother Dele, Dele, my wife Cassie" Tobi frowned. "How come I've never heard about him?" Cassie asked taking Dele's hand. "Oh I'm the family's bastard, they never talk about me. I'm a result of his father's mistake" Dele smiled. "Nice to meet you" Cassie grinned. Tobi took Cassie's hand "let's go in" he said stiffly. Cassie glared at Tobi but nodded and went in with him. She turned to look at Dele again and he smiled. "Is he also in the cult?" Cassie asked Tobi. "No, it's not for the mistakes of the family" Tobi frowned. "So your other sons won't be in the cult...just ours" Cassie said. Tobi nodded. "It's a good thing we won't be having children then" Cassie sobbed and went into the bedroom. Tobi sighed, was there anyway he could fix this? |
DARA Dara stretched out her hand to hug Cassie when she stepped into the house. "Hey sweetie" she kissed her cheek. "Where are the battalions?" Cassie whispered. Dara chuckled, "Don't worry, I'm alone today. Olanna is in school and mama and the trouble maker are out. Thank God" Dara sighed. Cassie chuckled, Dara's house was always one house of commotion. "Where is Nene?" Cassie asked. "I don't know, I haven't called her yet. She'll soon be here. Come on let's go to the kitchen, there's this new dish I'm trying to cook. It's a French dish" Dara said and pulled Cassie into the kitchen. "How is Tobi?" Dara asked. Cassie stiffened for a bit before faking a smile. She couldn't exactly tell her friends the mistake she'd gotten into. "He's fine, we're fine. Perfect" she lied. "I'm so happy for you, you finally got what you've always wanted. The perfect husband and at least you don't have intruders in your house" Dara said. If only you knew, Cassie thought sadly. They heard noises in the living room and rushed to check. It was Nene arguing with Richard. "If you know what's good for you, you'll wait for me in the car till I am done. I'm not taking a taxi home!" Nene shouted. "Then take the car key, you can drive yourself home" Richard suggested frustrated. "I can't drive, I'm pregnant. It's not safe for me or our baby" Nene crossed her arms. "That's absurd, I know pregnant women who drive without trouble" Richard scoffed. "I don't care, wait in the car. I'll be done in a few hours" Nene said. "Richie it's okay, I'll drop Nene at home" Cassie said. "Thank you Cassie" Richard turned to Nene, shook his head and left. Nene turned to Cassie angrilly "I didn't ask you to Interfere Cassie" she said. "Nene, asking Richard to wait in car till you're done gisting with us isn't fair you know" Dara said. Nene frowned and sat on a sofa. "He just makes me so angry!" She said. "Richard is the most nicest and patient man I've met. You're a lucky person" Cassie said. "Yeah? Well maybe we should switch husbands" Nene hissed. Dara rolled her eyes at Nene's behavior. "I'm pretty sure you're the problem and not Richard. You need to change Nene, I'm not sure how Richard copes with you at home" Dara chuckled. Nene glared at her friend, what did they know? She hissed. Cassie sighed 'If only we could switch husbands' She thought. Richard was perfect. |
NENE "You don't have to call your father everytime we have a fight Nene" Richard sighed. Nene only rolled her eyes and hissed. "We could settle our problems ourselves, why do you have to invite the third party everytime?" Richard continued. "Third party Richard? Don't forget that you're living in the third party's house, using his cars, working in his company and using his money" Nene spat. "I never asked for it Nene!" Richard shouted. "Oh just stop pretending, this has always been your plan. You would still be rooted deep in poverty if you hadn't gotten me drunk at that party, raped me and gotten me pregnant. I was your target all along" Nene hissed. "How many times will I tell you that I was also drunk and I didn't rape me. You wanted me just as bad as I wanted you" Richard ran his hand over his face. "You're a liar" Nene spat. "Good day Nene, I'm going to work" Richard picked up a couple of files he'd left on the table. "Who's going to take my clothes to the dry cleaner Richard?" Nene asked. "It can wait, I'll do the laundry when I get back" Richard hissed. "I don't want you to wash my clothes, I want you to take it to the dry cleaner. If you value your job in my father's company you'll take it to the dry cleaner immediately" Nene pushed him roughly. "You disgust me" Richard said. He picked up his bag and left the house. He'd almost gotten to his office when his father in law called him and told him to come over to their house. It wouldn't take a genius to know that Nene had called her father. He met her at the house when he got there, shedding crocodile tears and reporting him to her father. "He called me all sorts of vile names daddy, he said I'm the most disgusting person he's ever met. That I'm a spoiled brat, he even told me not to use his money that I was wasting it. And he called you a third party too" Nene's mother was comforting her daughter. Nene's father on the other hand looked really angry. "After everything I've done for you Richard, you treat my daughter like crap" Her father shouted. "Mr Nwankwo you have to understand that I treat you daughter very well, she's just ..." Mrs Nwankwo cut Richard off. "You're saying our daughter is a liar?" she scoffed eyeing Richard hatefully. Richard sighed, there really was no winning with this family. Their daughter was the saint who could do no wrong to them and he was the villain of course. |
TWO CASSIE Cassie shoved her wedding dress and jewelry into the bag. The shoes and veil, even the dress she wore at the reception into the bag. She took the traditional attire from the traditional marriage and eyed it in disgust before shoving it roughly into the bag before zipping it. She couldn't bare to look at them. Everytime she did, she remembered what Tobi had done. She didn't even want to remember her own wedding, she hated thinking about it because of Tobi. She took the bag downstairs to the back of the house and started a fire with kerosene and a match stick. She watched it burn black before she left, all her wedding finery gone. She headed back into the house, the living room. She looked at the wedding photos Tobi had hung and suddenly she felt like destroying them all. She ran her hand over them before taking down the pictures from the frames. She gathered all of them and took them to the back of the house again and lit another fire. "Cassie what are you doing?" she head Tobi's voice. He was too late, she watched the pictures burn. "Something that needs to be done" she said nonchalantly. "What are you burning?" he asked coming closer. He looked closer and saw she was burning photos. "Our wedding photos?" he asked. "Yes" her voice sounded broken like she was going to cry again. "Why?" he was angry at her now, she's been in this state for too long. Why couldn't she just let things go and forgive him. During their wedding reception She'd caught him banging a sixteen years old girl who had been on the flower girls train. She'd caught them in the toilet, he couldn't forget the shocked look on her face. Then she broke into tears and stormed off. He'd caught her before anyone else saw her and begged her not to cause a scene. The girl's mother was a friend of his father and he knew it would cause a stain on his reputation if the news got out. Fortunately for him, His mother had come to his aid. She'd taken Cassie into one of the rooms at the hotel. "It's not his fault actually, he couldn't control himself. You have to forgive him and you have to understand. I thought Tobi has explained his condition to you" Mrs Ademola had said. Cassie looked wide-eyed with tears on her face, a condition? "Oh no, don't tell me he didn't tell you that. Did he at least tell you about his kids?" his mother asked. "Kids?" Cassie asked. "He has two sons, two baby mamas. I think you and Tobi should have this discussion at home" Mrs Ademola said. "Home? There's no home. I'm not going to be with Tobi after this" she'd said. "Sweetheart you don't have a choice, you and Tobi can only be separated by death now. Didn't Tobi also explain the rites done at the traditional marriage?" she asked. "Rites?" she looked confused. "Oh you're so clueless, you poor girl" Mrs Ademola left the room. What be worse than finding out your husband had spiritually tied you to himself, or the fact that he was also in a some sort of cult? It doesn't matter if the cult wasn't into Rituals or bloody things, it was sort of a family cult for the men in the family. He'd lied to her and he'd deceived her, she couldn't ever forgive him. Never. |
DARA Jidenna heard the commotion right from outside the house before he parked quickly and got out of the car. He hurried into the house quickly wondering what was causing the noise. His mother was sitting on the floor, legs spread when he entered. Her hand was on her head and she was wailing. "Mama" he looked around and saw his elder sister Adanna arguing with his wife by the dining table and his junior sister Olanna was comforting his mother. "Mama what's wrong?" he asked setting down his briefcase and looking at her. "The Yoruba demon you put in my house wants to me kill me. Ekwensu!!! Hei! Jidenna didn't I ask you marry an igbo girl?" His mother shouted. Jidenna sighed, it was the same issues everyday. Dara wouldn't get along with his family. Ever since his family moved into their house from the family house at Enugu, it's been one problem or another. He couldn't ask his mother to leave his house, his junior sister schooled in Lagos so staying with him was more convenient. His elder sister on the other hand had financial issues and had to move out of their apartment at Ketu to join him here with her husband and two kids. His brother worked for him, and had to stay here. The house was big enough for everyone, why couldn't they just get along. "Ola what happened?" he asked. "I don't know, I got back from school and met this. Ask aunty Ada and aunty Dara" she shrugged. Jidenna sighed and picked up his briefcase. "Dara, let's go upstairs" he said. "She's not going anywhere till she apologizes to mama" Adanna hissed. "Ada, I'll handle it" he said. "I am the senior and I have spoken! Your wife doesn't have respect for anyone. Are you the first woman to marry a richman?" she asked. Dara hissed and rolled her eyes, like mother like daughter. "Dara what happened?" he asked. "I don't know, your mother is acting as usual" she shrugged. "I will slap your face, idiot. Is it my mother you're referring to? it's your mother that is an actress" Adanna said. "No one is slapping anyone, Dara...upstairs now!" he said. Dara eyed her sister in law before going upstairs as Jidenna instructed. "You are spoiling your wife, it's because you don't beat her. That's why she has mouth to talk to mama anyhow" Ada hissed. "Adanna Ogini? What happened?" he asked. "I don't know, I saw mama like this. Ask her?" Adanna hissed before going into her room that was downstairs. "Mama...what did Dara to you?" he asked. "Go and taste the food that your wife cooked. Go and taste it, she wants to kill me!! Jidenna your father will not rest in his grave until you send that woman away and marry an igbo girl who will give you strong sons" Just like that mama was on her feet again. As if nothing had happened, she wiped her face and dragged Olanna into their own part of the house. Jidenna shook his head and walked upstairs. His house was one big theatre, he had no Idea when the drama would end. He couldn't please his wife and hurt his mother. They were his responsibility, Dara needs to understand that. |
NENE Richard walked into the room and met Nene sitting cross legged on the bed. "I got you chocolates" he said. She heard him but she ignored him. "Where should I keep them?" he asked. After asking a few more questions and getting no reply from her, he went downstairs and kept the chocolate in the refrigerator. He checked the microwave and didn't see dinner, he wondered why because Nene always left the dinner in the microwave whenever he was late. He didn't bother to ask her for it, knowing whenever she was in her mood a conversation with her never turned out well. He picked up the debris around the kitchen, Nene never cleaned up after cooking. The only thing she even did in the house was the cooking, Richard washed their clothes, their dishes and cleaned the house too. He was going to toss the debris in the trash when he saw the wasted food. It seemed that Nene had emptied an entire pot of jollof rice into the dust bin. He dumped the debris in the trashcan and went upstairs. "Nene, why did you waste that amount of food?" he asked calmly not wanting to offend her. "How is that your business?" she asked rudely. "It's my business because I gave you money to cook it" Richard shouted. How could she waste that amount of food, did she know there were people in the streets who wished for food but couldn't get any. "My father's money!" she screamed getting up from the bed. "Nene, calm down" he said, this was what he wanted to avoid. Confronting Nene never ended well. "Everything belongs to my father, this house, the cars, my father pays you. I can do whatever I want with the money!" she shouted. "Nene...I work for it" he reminded. "That's your business, I don't care. I'll do whatever I please with the money and you can't do anything about it" she fumed. She continued shouting, insulting him and his poor family and wretched background. "Nene calm down!" he shouted. "Too bad I can't be like your poor mother who would rather save than spend because of her meagre earnings. That's why she looks so tattered all the time" Nene mocked. "Don't bring my mother in to this spoilt brat!" he shouted. That did it for Nene, she burst into tears. "Nene, I'm sorry" he apologized. She ignored him and picked up her phone before going downstairs. Twenty minutes later he got a call from his boss and father in law. "Good evening sir" he started. "What is so good about the evening, what have you done to Nene? She called minutes ago, she was crying and rambling that you wouldn't stop yelling at her and insulting her. What's the meaning of that? you have no right to treat my daughter badly, see me first thing tomorrow at my house . And bring Nene along" His father in law said angrily before ending the call. Richard sighed and dropped the phone, how long will this go on? Nene did this everytime they had an argument, she'd lie and play the victim everytime. He was tired of her, but he couldn't leave her. He couldn't leave her because of his unborn child and because of her father's wrath. |
CASSIE "Good morning, I brought you breakfast" Tobi placed the tray on the table beside the bed and turned to his wife. "You didn't have to" Cassie sat up on the bed. She looked everywhere else but she wouldn't look at him. "Cassie I don't mind doing these things for you, I love you" Tobi smiled, a smile that always left Cassie weak. "I'm not hungry"Cassie got up from the bed. "Should I leave it in the microwave for you?" he asked. "I won't eat it, throw it away" She responded. Tobi sighed and turned to his wife. "Cassie won't you let it go already, I'm sorry" He said. Cassie tried to restrain the tears but they came anyway. She clutched the table and sobbed. Heart wrenching tears that broke Tobi's heart. It wasn't his intention to hurt her but he couldn't control himself. He'd tried to but it never worked. He tried to comfort her but she screamed at him. "Don't touch me with your filthy hands" she shouted. "Cassie I'm sorry" he begged. "It doesn't matter, you betrayed my trust , you deceived me. I can't forgive you for that" she hissed. Tobi sighed and sat on the bed, he didn't know what else to tell Cassandra. He had no excuses, he just wanted forgiveness. He couldn't even promise her that it would not happen again because he didn't trust himself. He did love Cassandra, that's why he'd married her but that love wouldn't change what he did. He didn't have enough control to stop himself, he tried but it just wasn't ever enough. "How do you expect our marriage to work if you won't forgive me?" he asked. "Our marriage stopped working immediately after our wedding ceremony and you know why. You have yourself to blame, you're the reason for the failure of this marriage" Cassie said coldly. She stormed into the bathroom trying hard not think of what Tobi had done. The secrets that had been unveiled too. |
DARA Living in your matrimonial home with your in laws is hell. Life is no longer only about pleasing your husband but his entire family too. Dara stood by as her mother in law stirred her pot of soup. "That's why my son cannot get fat because you can't cook. Which kind of soup is this ehn Married woman" she hissed. Dara rolled her eyes and walked away, how long will this go on. She wanted them to leave her home for her and her husband. She'd talked with Jidenna about it a lot but he did nothing about it. His family was a pain in her neck, she went to the dining room and sat on one of the chairs. His mother followed and stood opposite her. "Madam, you don't have respect okwia? You can just walk on me anytime. I asked Jidenna not to marry such a mannerless girl but did he listen?" she hissed and went back into the kitchen. Dara rolled her eyes and hissed, the woman was a trouble maker. The worst thing was that Jay didn't see any wrong in his mother's actions. He'd always tell Dara that she was overreacting. His mother came out again and faced her. "My son's cousin all have children, you still haven't gotten pregnant. You can't cook, can't Clean and get pregnant. Nwa na-abaghị uru" she hissed again and walked away. "Hmm, this woman is just looking for words from my mouth. I won't answer her" Dara hissed and picking up her phone. "You only know how to press the phone that my son bought for you, living in his big house like a big madam. You can't do anything, lazy woman!" His mother hissed again. "Mama leave me alone na, leave me alone. Ahan what is it?" Dara asked angrily. "You want to beat me? Oh because we're the same height you want to beat me. Try it! I will make sure my son sends you packing. Insignificant " the woman hissed and went back into the kitchen. Dara eyed the woman and hissed, She didn't even blame the woman. She blamed her husband who brought in his mother, his brother, his elder sister's family and his junior sister to their matrimonial home. "Married woman, come and taste the soup that you cooked for your husband. Chineke! My son has married something, you want to poison me and my family with pepper!" the woman shouted hysterically. Dara hissed and walked back upstairs to her room and slammed the door. |
Thank you Cadec007: |
NENE "I cooked your favorite, when are you coming home?" Nene asked her husband over the phone as she wiped her hands with a napkin. "I don't know, don't wait up for me. Just leave the food in the microwave" he said. "As usual" Nene clicked her tongue. "I'm working late Nene, you understand that don't you? Coming home early won't help our finances , especially with your extravagant spending" Her husband hissed. "Extravagant spending, I'm only buying things for the baby we're expecting. What's wrong with that?" Nene asked slightly irritated. "I don't expect you to see anything wrong with that since you've always been used to spending extravagantly. I'll see you when I get back home" he said before ending the call. Nene had to restrain herself from slamming down her phone on the counter. This man never ceased to infuriate her, she did everything to please him but it was never good enough for him. Wasn't it the same Richard that told her to use his ATM card to get anything she wanted and now he was complaining. "If he doesn't want me to use his money, why didn't he say so?" she hissed and walked out of the kitchen. She wasn't even buying things for herself, she was buying things for their baby. The baby they were expecting in four months. She marched up to her room angrily and slumped down on the bed. "Such an annoying man, I have my own money. I'll return his bloody ATM card when he gets back" She hissed before going into the bathroom. She turned on the tap and seethed angrily, complaining about how he'd just insulted him. "I have money that can last me a lifetime without having to work, what's his little change to me?" she hissed loudly. Kainene Nwankwo was the only daughter of oil magnate Amaechi Nwankwo and minister of Education Mrs Regina Nwankwo. She was the heir to their properties, their gem and everything. Common Richard wouldn't have stood a chance with Nene if he hadn't gotten her pregnant. They'd at met a dinner party at the oriental hotel months ago, had too many drinks and gone up to the room together. There was no protection, nothing. Just a quick lay that Kainene had regretted in the morning. She'd screamed, raged and cried the next day. She even accused him of rape and had slapped him before storming out of the hotel room. Her heart was shattered when she'd peed on a stick at Cassie's house months later and discovered that she was pregnant for no other that an ordinary employee in her father's company. She loathed him, loathed the baby she was expecting. She contemplated abortion but her father would have none of it. They were strict Catholics so Richard had been forced to marry her. Everything was arranged quickly, he was promoted in her father's firm, given a residence at Victoria Island and three new cars. Nene never failed to rub it in his face that she was the cause of his success and that their marriage was a mistake that she hated. She couldn't get out of it though, her family's reputation mattered greatly to her. It was the only reason she remained in the marriage. |
ONE CASSIE Cassie walked into her house late from her outing with the girls, she looked around sourly before sitting on the sofa in the living room. For so long she'd been wanting to get married. She'd wanted a husband for so long just to please her mother and she'd finally run into Tobi. She felt so happy, she felt like her prayers had been answered. And now she felt empty, this marriage she didn't work out well for her. She wanted to break free, she wanted to escape. Tobi was rich, handsome and charming to other woman Cassie was a lucky woman to get a man with all those qualities but they didn't understand that his handsomeness, and charming nature was the major problem in their marriage right now. Three months ago, she'd met Tobi at Nene's wedding. She'd been smitten and charmed by his looks, the way he spoke and the manner which he carried himself. Tobi was loving, attentive and he wasn't proud like most rich men she knew. He was funny, smart and everything a woman wanted in a man. She'd been so happy to have caught his eye, for weeks that was all she could talk about. Even when Nene and Dara told her she was rushing things with Tobi, she disagreed. She was in love, Tobi loved her too, her mum was happy. Everything was going perfect for her, a month into the relationship Tobi proposed. They'd gone to the mall together and right there, in the midst of shoppers at Shoprite he'd proposed with a beautiful, expensive yet simple rose gold diamond. They'd planned their wedding together with the help of her family, his family and friends. Everything was going smoothly till her wedding reception. She'd discovered a dark secret she could never forgive. That was the problem in her marriage now, she cried herself to sleep every night. Right from her childhood, Cassie had always had an unforgiving spirit, it was a bad trait but she could never get rid of it. Not even the love she had for Tobi could make her forgive him for what he'd done to her. |
PROLOGUE Cassandra turned to her friend Dara as the bride and groom kissed. "Who would have thought that Nene would get married before me?" She rolled her eyes before picked up her glass and gulped down the entire cocktail. "What's the rush Cassie, marriage isn't a big deal is it?" Dara asked. Cassie turned to eye her friend, "Look at you, you're married to a rich man who spoils you. I'm the only single one even Nene is married" she hissed upset. "Honey, Marriage is not a bed of roses" Dara smiled. She kept checking her phone every minute as if she had somewhere else to be. "It is a big deal for me, I'm twenty six already. I want to get married quickly okay? My mum is bugging me and I just want to get married" Cassie sighed. Dara pointed to the single ladies gathering by the table of the bride and groom. "Well it's time for throwing the bouquet, I heard that most couples meet at weddings" Dara shrugged. "You're right" Cassie said. She got up and danced out to go and join the single ladies. Nene threw the bouquet but Cassie didn't catch it, another girl beat her to it. She was just about to return to her seat when she bumped into him. Who knew she'd be marrying him three months later?? |
