cy99: Pls House, one very important thing. Anybody with knowledge of these things should enlighten me further: For DSSC, applicants must be between the ages of 22 and 35 as at Sept. 2013. Somebody just informed me that I don't qualify since I'll be 35 next month. I'm sure he's wrong. But then again, he might be right, considering I'll be technically over 35 by Sept. Can anybody pls enlighten me further. Thanks.

The person is wrong. Dont be afraid, be strong. Once you are shortlisted, ua gud 2go. According 2 what I heard, they will not check ur age up to the month level. They said, when u get there, u will see men of 40-45yrs. Relax, pray to God and trust him for breakthrough. It is well wt ur soul sir.

To do push up:
(1) First warm up your muscles and make sure you are ready.
(2)Lie in a prone position on the flöor or any surface that can support your weight.
(3)Position hands palm down on the floor, approximately shoulder width apart.
(4) Raise yourself using your arms. Lower your torsos to the ground until your elbow forms 90 degree.
(5) Raise yourself by attempting to push the ground away from you. Repeat the last two steps for the remainder of the exercise till you are exhausted. Thanks.
Then for sit up:
(1) Lie with your back on a floor or surface that can support your weight.
(2) place hands behind the head with knees up in an attempt to reduce stress on the back muscle and spine.
(3) Then try to elavate both the upper and lower vertebrae from the floor, until everything superior to the buttocks is not touching the ground. Do it up and down.
Repeat step three till you are exhausted.
Try to add one or two more each day and keep developing your muscular endurance.

Do it for as many times as you can. It will help prevent you from developing Agada and Mukede.

cyril83: bruv! The race is very far from jogging,it's an endurance race which every pains must be endured until you get to d gate at d given time,if you are unable to meet up with the time,you will be locked outside d gate which means you are out.

If you really want to meet up with the time,you better make it running and jogging, this will also give you more strength and you will be free from any injuries.

Bro, I dont think anybody can make it with only running. U can combine it o. I even made it this morning wt only jogging (3.2km in 16minute) after I had ran for about 1.8km unmeasured & untimed.
Bro u can make it with jogging o. Don't injure or kill urself by thinking u will run for 3.2km unrest, be warned.

ocheezie: people are running away cos this thread which was supposed to give technical details on preparation,requirements and general way forward has been turned into a preaching and prayer forum.we undertand the need to pray,but another thread can be created like'Prayer for Success in the DSSC and SSC 2013 recruitment', so that those who are in'spirit' can come there and pray.I posit that this thread be more of details,especially from those with experience,on how best to conserve energy during race,what tests are very key,when to expect list,if any insider info,why d need for extension of sales when u have about 1000 candidates times available slot already and that general thought-line,and people will flood here.No offense pls.I'm prayerful too,but I do it in the quiet of my room,and I'm sure a whole lot of others do too.thanks

Yeah, the distance between normal electric poles is SUPPOSED to be 50metres (but you know our naija short-cut systems nah) That's why I mentioned concrete(transformer) poles, they are the only ones I can vouch for as STANDARD poles.

Like in my area now, the way they arranged the poles does not follow the standard procedure due to topography. Its only our transformer poles, which were installed by certified technicians, that are appropriately measured. And I'm sure that's how it is nationwide.

So, in order not to confuse yourself, I'll advise you make use of the transformer poles in your locality sir.

idris4r83: Tips on how to run 3.2km in less than 18min. 1. Set your goals: the goal is to be able 2 run 3.2km comfortably in less than 18mins, then get ur weekly plan, at least 2 times or 3 times a week should be enough. 2. Get a good trainers, make sure they have good grips and are fitted for your foot shape and size. Remember, good trainers can also reduce ur risk of developing a flat foot. Cos running without trainers causes the posterior tendon to become weakened after long term wear and tear, so get a good trainers. 3. Get at least 8hrs of sleep the night before you want to run. Rest is d number 1 key 2 d door of stamina. 4. Stay hydrated, take a glass of water before starting. 5. Try running just a kilometer in or less than 5minutes. I started with 1km in 5minutes but now I can run 5km in less than 20min. But with constant practice. Do it repeatedly for like 2 to 3wks and at least 3 or 2 times a week 6. Proceed to 2km in at least 10minutes, at first it might be difficult and boring but remember "NO PAIN NO GAIN" do it 4 like 2-3 wks and at least 3 times a week. 7. Try the almighty 3km in 15minutes do it repeatedly, then aim 4 kilometers in 20minutes. If you can run 4 kilometers in 20mins then u r good 2 go. Remember that without practice and constant training it might be difficult to start the training when u are shortlisted and have only 2wks to report. There are other health benefits u can derive from the weekly exercise apart from getting accustomed and ready for the interview like lowering ur BP, reducing ur blood sugar, reducing ur cholesterol and fat, boosting ur stamina. Etc
