With what I'm observing about the Christian Genocide in Nigeria, I have come to the conclusion that our Christian religious leaders are nothing but selfish, self-centred lots that use the name of Jesus to deceive millions of people for their own pockets. I mean, with all these calamities falling on the Christians in parts of the country, why has no religious leader come out to heavily criticise and pressure the government to intervene? Why has the so-called "daddies in the Lord" and General overseers of the big and prominent churches not said anything? That is because they don't care about you. They only care about your tithes and offerings and the fact that the the whole insecurity doesn't affect them directly. Your "Daddy G.O" will ask members to pray for safety while he would go to his house with an entourage of security and bullet proof cars. Our religious leaders are supposed to be the eyes of the people. They should at least represent and defend the rights of the Christian body. It is sad that we are not United as a body in Christendom. We only look at denominations and ignore problems that doesn't affect us personally. This is what I think Christians should try at this point and see what happens: Christians all over Nigeria should stop going to church for like a month irrespective of whether your area is safe or not. At least for the sake of our Christian brothers and sisters being murdered just for going to church. Also, they should be no form of streaming of church services. They should be a total boycott in protest. No offerings, no tithes, no donations. When this happens, just watch how they will start speaking up which by now you should know why! Nobody will go to hell for not going to church. We've been deceived enough! Prayer doesn't work in things like this. Action does! Any religious leader asking you to fast and pray in times like this is being intentionally deceitful! The problems with Nigerians is fear. All our noise is only on social media. We fear more than anything! |
Please how do I get started on Web 3. I want to join a web 3 community. |
Bendeco02:You have a point here. I think it depends on where you're marrying from in Igboland because I have seen alot of Igbo couples that don't seem to have much, or are even living in one room. It is not possible for a man to spent millions in marrying an Igbo lady just to end up living in one room with his wife. Most Igbo men wouldn't do that. |
I have heard that Igbo women are usually very expensive to get married to. Like the families of these women are usually known for their outrageous monetary demands either in the form of bride price or "marriage list". But what I don't understand is if marrying an Igbo lady seems expensive for an outsider, then how do the average Igbo man get married? Do they invest so much money in marrying their wives like someone from another tribe? |
What does it mean to forgive someone who did something bad to you? Because I have heard people say we ought to "forgive and forget". How easy is that? I don't think that's how the brain works either! Let me give you a scenario: Imagine someone rapes your sister or a wicked uncle confessed to doing something fetish that cost the life of a loved one. Would you easily forgive the person and pretend it didn't happen? Can there be forgiveness without punishment? I need clarification on this. |
I made a research and I discovered that the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wasn't written until about sixty years after Jesus died. These were the possible reasons: 1. The Apostles of Jesus were busy spreading the story of his resurrection and his teachings as they were instructed by Him, so they didn't have the time to sit and write the accounts of what happened. 2. They were also waiting for Jesus to return because he told them he would return in their lifetime, so they felt they was no need. However, when the witnesses of Jesus started passing away, the need for a comprehensive biography of Jesus needed to be recorded to avoid the risk of twisting or exaggerations that could make the whole thing look like a myth. You know how stories can change quickly when there's no written proof. If you tell a friend a story today, the story will not be the same if your friend decides to tell another person tomorrow. Not to talk of sixty years! Apostle Paul, who converted to Christianity, never met Jesus in his lifetime. He only became a convert after that divine encounter on his way to Damascus to persecute Christians. He saw so much division in the churches at that time because many people were coming up with their own version of what Jesus's doctrine and teachings actually was. (Remember, there was no written evidence yet), and some charlatans were twisting the gospel for their own selfish interests. Paul spent over 20 years of his life writing to the churches in the different areas in Greece, telling them how they were supposed to behave as Christians and being of one mind. You could tell he was trying to stop the different doctrines that was flying around in Christianity which has led to the different denominations of churches we have today. I believe that since the Jesus and the early Apostles died, Christianity has gone through a lot of changes over the centuries that has been far from what the people who started it had in mind. Humans are good at spoiling things. The concept of Christianity might be valid, but it is also being abused as well. People had done some outrageous things in the past using Christianity as a shield. My take is to be open to knowledge and apply the principles as best as I can |
Successsearch90:I think it is still a religion with a decent ideology on how people should live. You're easily a Christian because you were born in the right place. What if by chance, you were born into a remote tribe far from civilisation? (Yes, there are people who still walk around naked in the bush in this time). If you were born there, would you know what is called salvation, heaven or hell? You'd probably be praying to a statue or a stone and thinking you're doing the right thing because that's the only thing you know! |
Sp33i:That means you wouldn't readily die for what you believe if your life depended on it. Please don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to know how much we can take as humans for what we claim we can give everything up for. Your not retaliating in a fight Is impressive, but it could also be because you were outnumbered and walking away was a wiser choice. |
But as Christians are we supposed to endure evil or oppose it? A slap is not a kiss on the cheek. Would you really pretend nothing happened if someone slapped you in an argument? Sp33i: |
Over the past two years I have been having serious thoughts about religion, Christianity in particular because I was raised a Christian. A lot of things don't make sense to me lately and I will explain my points now. 1. Salvation: Christians believe that without salvation, which is accepting Jesus into your life, you're going to hell. But I have been curious to know what is the fate of these categories of people: People who existed before Jesus was born, and people who by their background, are likely not Christians. I mean, if I were born in India or Pakistan, I would like be a Hindu or a Muslim. If you were born in that region, you're likely to die practicing the religion of your parents and never get the chance of hearing about Jesus. 2. Religion seems to forbid you asking critical questions: I have come to realise that you're not allowed to ask critical questions if it is seen as a threat to how the system has been organised. Even if you do, you're told something that is very shallow and unconvincing. I have once tried to ask why God decided to choose a small tribe in Israel to start the salvation of mankind and risk a lot of people in other civilisations not being aware of anything. As always, I was given another unconvincing answer. 3. Teachings from the Bible sounds good, but not really applicable to real life situations: Imagine you're coming from church and somehow you enter into an argument with a bus conductor and he suddenly slapped you in the face. What would you do? Would you 'turn the other cheek ' like Jesus said or fight back? We are humans, and most times, we act as our emotions leads us. We're fallible and yet we're to live with the burden of being perfect enough for heaven. How is that possible. I'm beginning to start believing that Christianity is an ideological concept, not very different from other religions. I have a thousand thoughts concerning the whole Idea of Christianity, but let me stop here yet. 4. Money and billing is driving me crazy!: I attend a Pentecostal church, and to be honest, I don't agree with some of the doctrines. Why would you tell people to bring half their salary every January to sow seed? That's outrageous if you ask me. I watch as I see people being milked dry with multiple offerings every service. Events upon events that dig holes in the pockets of members in the name of contribution. Like, I'm tired! The church doesn't even know how you survive from Monday to Saturday or how your life outside church is like. I think I will stop going to church for now. |
1. Offerings like four times in a single service 2. Pastor support 3. Building support 4. Welfare support 5. Contribution for upcoming events 6. Evangelism support 7. Thanksgiving 8. Tithe All these in a single Sunday! As a member in the church does anyone know whether I have eaten or not? Do they know if I have food in the house. Don't I have responsibilities outside church? Churches are involved in so many things that is taking a financial toll on members that always make them groan silently but they always keep it to themselves because they are always told they're doing it for God or that they will go to heaven. I believe this is too much!

I have come to realise that Africans and the rest of the world react to the death of a loved one differently. It baffles me that whenever a person dies in Africa especially in Nigeria, before you know it obituary posters will litter every where. Some even go as far as making mugs, cups, handkerchiefs, jotters, calenders and even t-shirts bearing the image of the deceased as souvenirs during the burial. This gives the impression that the dead are celebrated instead of mourned. The most shocking one is the partying. Imagine people partying and enjoying themselves outside while the family of the deceased are in distress. Why is it so? In the western world on the other hand, they handle the death of their loved ones differently. First of all, they would ask for privacy as the family members plan the burial and the person would be buried quietly with few people present to pay their last respect. At that period, you'd notice so much sorrow and despair while the family of the deceased are consoled by friends and family. In Africa, the expenses of burying a loved can even make you depressed and sad more than the sorrow caused by the person's demise. This is not even including the 'traditions' and 'customs' if you come from a certain ethnic group. Everything ends with expenses. I have never buried anyone in my family but this is just what I noticed Na wao |
The FIFA Best Player Awards was held yesterday, 17th December 2024 with Vini emerging as the winner of the covetous price. Many people thought this is the least he deserved after losing the Balon D'or to Manchester City's Rodri. However what caught my attention after the whole thing was that after the ceremony, it was revealed by Fabrizio Romano that Lionel Scaloni, Argentina national team manager voted Messi as his top player of the year! Coming in second and third places in his list were Rodri and Bellingham. I couldn't help but think why Messi would still be considered as a contender for this award. I like Messi very much, but I think one of the reasons why he has won so many Balon D'ors is because he is liked by coaches and other sports enthusiasts better than his arch rival Ronaldo. Messi is a talented and amazing player but that is not all. He is also portrayed by the media as a humble, cool headed player that deserves everything because of his personality even when his efforts doesn't necessarily deserve that particular recognition. Ronaldo on the other hand is seen as an arrogant, selfish and immature individual. He has to work his ass out for everything he gets, and also have to deal with how people perceive his personality. They both have a huge section of fans, but when it comes to voting for prestigious awards, fans don't vote. Some selected individuals do, which I have noticed that Messi have triumphed more in this area because he is liked better. Ronaldo gets to win only when Messi is having a bad year. Rodri triumphed over Vini because a set of people liked him better than the Brazilian even when the latter has more fans and supporters. In this life, sometimes hard work will not always get you want you want especially when they are people to decide your fate. People might like and prefer someone else even when you are equally or even more deserving of recognition. People are loyal to their emotions and how they feel about the person they like. Just do your best and accept it. Life goes on. |
But seriously why are women like this? Let me tell you what I mean: There's this girl that lives in the same compound as me that I guess she's around her late teenage years or possibly early twenties. She's a very wild girl and I suspected she's into hookup based on her careless dressing and men often dropping her off in their cars early in the morning after night outs. Her friendly nature made us to get along quickly as neighbours. One day she came to me to borrow money, and I innocently gave her. I waited for her to return the money but she never did, and when I asked her about it, she gave all types of silly excuses that made me realise that she didn't want to pay back. The worst thing is that she would only come to me when she needed something either financially or in items of which I would give to her out of the sake of being just nice. As time went on I started feeling stupid and used. Even when her friend came over and started living with her, the friend started knocking my door to ask for stuff within a few weeks! She must have told her about "the nice guy who never says no!". One day I decided that enough was enough and I told them that I will not be borrowing them my stuff and they should buy whatever they need for themselves. We didn't talk to each other like before but I liked it that way. This made me realise something about women : 1. Women don't respect nice guys, they only pretend to like them because of what they get from them. 2. Any money you give to a woman is gone. 90% of them will never think of paying you back even when they have it. This is why most guys demand sex before rendering help to ladies. They believe the sex is the only thing tangible that can come out of it. Some sort of a collateral. In all you do, learn how to say no to ladies that only take from you and never give. That is a parasitic relationship. My neighbour banged the hell out of a lady that asked him for 2k. He knew she would never pay him back. They might start to hate you when you stand your ground but it is better to be hated for saying NO than to be loved(If it is real) for being a FOOL. |
I've been struggling to accept the existence of a god for some time now. I believe a divine or a supreme being might exist somewhere, but which one of the gods of the thousands of religions of the world is he? Let's take the Christian God for example. Why doesn't he reveal himself like in the days of old when he spoke to humans in the Bible? Why do we defend his actions and personality when they're at times questionable? Why do we have to live our lives carefully enough to please a being that we've never met or seen and hope to make heaven at the end? Just take this scenario for example. Imagine you never met your father and you don't know how he looks like. Then your mum says the only way to please your father or even getting to see him is by following some instructions in a book. If you don't follow the instructions well enough or he's not impressed with your efforts, then he will reject you as a son! Why are we created, brought to earth and then spend our lives trying to impress someone we've never seen and hope we are "righteous enough" to earn a spot in heaven? I have considered atheism in the past but I don't have enough evidence to completely conclude that there isn't a god somewhere. The Bible is a great book full of wisdom yet surprisingly, it is not void of contradictions and things that leaves you with a thousand questions. I guess we might never know. No one has died and came back to tell us if heaven and hell exist, which makes the concept of heaven and hell a brilliantly crafted one. For you to know, you need to die first which means you can't come back and reveal the truth. I think religion is the biggest mystery man created for themselves. |
I wonder why people say "she left without saying goodbye" as if many people know when there were going to die. All this write-ups self dey annoy me. RIP to her |
