Senegalese-American musician, Akon, whose
"Akon Lighting Africa'' initiative is aimed at
bringing electricity to some 600 million Africans,
on Tuesday declared the launch of new "Solar
Academy''.
The academy, according to a statement by the
group investing in solar power for the future
could help to implant a viable platform to power
homes that lack electricity.
The institution is scheduled to open this summer
in Bamako, Mali's capital.
It would try to give African engineers and
entrepreneurs the skills needed to develop solar
power.
European experts will help to supply training
equipment and programmes.
"We have the sun and innovative technologies to
bring electricity to homes and communities.
"We now need to consolidate African expertise,''
said Samba Baithily, who founded Akon Lighting
Africa with Akon and Thione Niang.
"The academy will aim to teach people how to
install and maintain solar-powered electricity
systems as well as micro-grids," which are
really taking off in rural Africa,''Akon Lighting
Africa said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that
Akon is the performing name of the Senegalese-
American singer Aliaune Thiam, whose 2004
debut album, Trouble, spawned the hit singles
"Locked Up'' and "Lonely''.
He is the son of jazz percussionist Mor Thiam,
Akon spent his childhood in the U.S. Source: http://www.gidimasters.com/2015/06/singer-akon-launches-academy-in-africa.html?m=1

If you happened to be around the popular Jahlobia
Garden along Airport Road in Lagos on Tuesday,
you could have spotted a big party going on with
everyone clad in all-white with a touch of blue as
accessories. Your first impression might be there
was a big wedding going on. Yes, you are not far
from the truth, but not right on spot. It was a
wedding alright but a different kind. It was
Pasunma
shooting the video of his wedding song 'Oruka'
released on May 15th and dedicated to Edo State
governor, Adams Oshiomole who recently got
married to his new wife, Lara Fortez.
Another unique thing about the gathering was that
it
was strictly graced by Yoruba actors, males and
females. From Adebayo Salami, Femi Adebayo to
Fathia Balogun, Biodun Okeowo, Sobola Sotayo,
Tope Osoba, Iyabo Ojo, Lasun Ray, to Wale
Adebayo. The list is endless. For years, Pasunma
has been rolling with Yoruba actors and even
featured in a handful of their films. It would seem
his association with them has paid off as it is
unimaginable that Pasunma would have paid such
retinue of stars who could have numbered between
30-50. most of them big time A-list in their own
rights. The video was directed by Clarence Peters. Source: http://www.gidimasters.com/2015/06/pasuma-pulls-yoruba-actors-for-oruka.html?m=1

Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah, yesterday
donated
huge undisclosed amount of money and several
gift
items to victims of the June 3 tragic flood and fire
disasters in Accra, the capital of Ghana. She
visited
the 37 Military Hospital and later Nima, a suburb of
Accra where she interacted with the flood victims.
She donated several items including bags of rice,
cartons of water, drinks, toiletries, other food items
and an undisclosed amount of money to support
the
victims
After presenting the items to the authorities of the
37 Military Hospital, Jackie also visited the
children's ward where she interacted with the
children on admission and presented several items
to them and their parents. Jackie said she was at
the hospital to commiserate with those who had
lost
loved ones, help offer some relief items and wish
those on admission speedy recovery. "Events of
last Wednesday still leaves me in shock. Seeing
the
destruction, loss of lives and properties saddens
my heart." She offered a word of prayer to all
those
who were affected directly or indirectly by the twin
national disasters of flood and petrol explosion. The
actress also made a passionate appeal to well
meaning institutions both in Ghana and across the
world to offer any kind of assistance; both in cash
and kind to the affected people to enable them
rebuild their lives. Source: http://www.gidimasters.com/2015/06/jackie-appiah-donates-huge-cash-gifts.html?m=1

It all started from Nokia, when they ported their OS
from Windows to Android
by introducing Nokia XL running on Android OS
even though it has limited
internal memory. I've over head some IOS users
complaining of being tired of
iOS devices, and needed to make some changes
by using Android devices…
Now, its blackberry…
Its been rumored that their next device may come
with an Android operating
system . According to the report, the move to use
Android is part of
BlackBerry's strategy to pivot to focus on software
and device management.
BlackBerry, which once dominated smartphone
sales, now has a market
share of less than 1 percent.
Though It isn't clear from the report if this shift
would be for one particular
upcoming smartphone, or if it would be a larger
move away from BlackBerry
10.
My question now is, what is so special about
Android OS that every body want
to port to it? To all blackberry users like my
grandma, we'll be glad to
welcome you to Android Club.

if they have sent you an email, follow up with them and do what they says. as a protocol, you must be verified because of credit card theft. for your information godaddy is still the cheapest domain registrar so far. for calling it normally takes them 2 to 4 minutes to pick your call. to have an easy access when you call, put your customer number and CALL IN PIN

Ok...they sent me a mail to change my password which i have done... but it still shows account is locked......
