Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by giggsy: 3:58pm On Aug 03, 2014
Hello everyone. I plan to study for a 1 year Certificate course in Canada in September 2015 and I have contacted three schools concerning the admission requirements. They have all requested for my high school/secondary school transcripts in addition to my post-secondary/degree transcripts. Please has anyone been able to successfully collect transcripts from their secondary schools; is this possible? Its a bit of a challenge to obtain them. I currently have my WAEC Certificate and my degree transcripts. Thank you for your help and good luck with all your TRV applicatiions.
Travel / Re: Renewing Nigerian E-passport In London by giggsy: 7:43pm On Jan 06, 2013
Hello. I have applied for my e-passport to be renewed in London this year. The N.I.S. website generated an automatic interview date-January 20, following my successful payment of $65. However, my e-passport booking appointment date that I got via the Nigeria High Commission's website is on March 15. Please has anyone else experienced such a scenario? Would I need to show up at the High Commission on the 20th of January or on the 15th of March? Thank you.

@ukredbone I think you should take justwise's advice concerning the attestation letter and transcript. I don't know why getting a transcript from some universities is so difficult, I know what I went through before I got mine. Also, remember that you do not need to include your transcript with your application if it wasn't used in obtaining the admission. I wish you all the best.

fali:

People pls i need your advice. I work in a financial institution and am using  statement of account with another bank for my application. Hope it will not affect my visa  if i should submit my employment letter together with my application.

Hi Fali, the tier4 guidance does not require you to submit your employment letter along with your application. You ought to submit your completed application forms, passport, documents used in obtaining your admission and personal bank statement (depending on whether you are self-sponsored or not). You are not required to submit any proof of income. I also have a job and did not submit anything relating to my work and still had my visa issued.

ukredbone:

Mr Giggsy: Did your school send the attestation letter directly to BHC? or did u collect it by hand?
             What skuul did u attend? private or federal cos most pple are having problems with BHC being unable to verify such letters as they contain phone numbers and emails that don't work.
             What of your transcript how did u come to have an original copy with you?

I attended a federal university and I personally collected the attestation letter. The letter was addressed to the BHC. A word of advice-people are still getting their student visas issued regardless of the fact that they don't have these letters of attestation. I have my transcript with me because I applied directly to the school when they visited Nigeria in February for the Education UK exhibition that was organized by the British Council. They made photocopies after verifying the original and told me that I would require it for my visa application.

BTW, I am a girl, not a man, lol (as per Mr Giggsy).

@tyolsgirl Congratulations. @justwise thanks for your best wishes.

@gbemleks The answer for question 4.2 was stated on my CAS letter as NQF Level 7. Check your CAS letter, perhaps the answer was specified, if not I think you should go ahead with justwise's answer.
Business / Re: Charge For Not Using Atm (bank) by giggsy: 3:02pm On Aug 05, 2010
GT Bank charges N100 for withdrawals less than 50k that are made over the counter, of course I only got to know after I had been charged for withdrawing 40k (due to their Naira Mastercard issues).

Thanks to ell77 for starting this thread and to everyone else who has contributed meaningfully, especially justwise. I have gotten my visa and it was issued under a week. Thank God for His mercies, I am so grateful. I submitted the following original documents along with the application forms: CAS letter, laminated WAEC Certificate, Bachelor's degree Certificate, letter of attestation from my former University, Transcript and Personal Bank Statement. My visa was issued despite the fact that I submitted a laminated document, as well as an unsealed transcript (which, by the way, is not addressed to the BHC). Again, I didn't submit any letter of introduction from my bank along with my account statement.

I hope this info will help to ease the minds of some worried house members.

All the best. smiley

persist:

I need some info guys .  The statement of account given at the bank is just printed on on long sheet.Is that all i need or will I request the manager write a letter saying i have soo soo amount of money in my account.

Also How do I book appointment with the BHC  and how do I pay the fees. I really don't know.

Please I want to apply this week My money is already 28days this week.

Hi. You don't require any letter from your bank manager, all you need is a valid bank statement. To apply for your visa, you don't need to book an appointment with the BHC, visas are processed by VFS Nigeria. Payment for your visa application can be made in any of their offices during the submission process or you can pay in any of the Sterling Bank branches. Check out their website: www.ukvac-ng.com/ for more info.

I hope this helps. All the best.

@justwise Hi, hope you are doing well. I am submitting my application this week.

Please if you are on this forum and have submitted your application, could you kindly guide me on how to properly complete section 5.5 on the PBS Tier 4 General Student Self Assessment form? The question is below:

5.5 Have you been assessed by your sponsor by other means, for example by progress on a continuing course of study, as
part of a study abroad programme, by your sponsor’s internal test, a portfolio of artwork, or other means (state which)?
(Please do not submit this) Put a cross (X) in the relevant box.
No - Go to Question 5.6
Yes - Say how you have been assessed in the space below
then Go to Question 5.6

My CAS letter states that the evidence used to obtain my firm offer is my Bachelor's Degree. Do I fill it in this space or not?  I am a bit confused. Thanks.

@justwise Hi, I will be applying for my student visa this month. I got this info that the BHC has been calling up the phone numbers listed on applicants certificates/statement of results/ transcripts for verification and cases of visa refusals when the numbers do not connect. I don't know how true this is but I tried the numbers on my documents (land-line numbers which did not connect, lol). I was advised to get a letter of attestation confirming the authenticity of my documents from the university with updated contact numbers. What do you think? Thanks.

lakavana:

@giggsy,

I'd wanted to pay but I was advised not to make any deposit. Have you secured your accommodation?

It is well,

Yes, I was sent an email from the Accommodation Office with instructions on how to apply for accommodation. I downloaded the form which I completed and sent back to them last week. You could also do that, just visit http://www2.hull.ac.uk/student/hullaccommodation/downloads.aspx and download the Postgraduate Residence Application Form 2010-2011. Best wishes.

lakavana:

@Justwise & all,
I got an admission to study MSc in Hull University. But I have not paid any fee including tuition and maintenance fee because when I asked the University, I was told not to make any deposit. Though I have the maintenance and tuition fee in my account.

Please, do you think this could affect me getting a visa? Thank you for your response.

Do they tell you why you shouldn't pay fees? Were you given CAS?

@Justwise,

In my offer letter, it says "The University does not require a deposit* to be paid for your tuition fees before you arrive, whichever payment method you use, in order to register for your course, you must be able to pay 50% of your tuition fees at the point of registration" I have been given my CAS.

I have all my certificates scanned, Please advise on what to do. Thanks

@ lakavana Hi, I am also going for my Masters in Hull. Indeed, the school does not require a deposit BUT I paid my school fees in April and have gotten my CAS and the statement reflects my tuition fee payment. Best wishes.

@ justwise- Hi, I am planning to apply for a student visa in July. I got admission using my statement of degree result and transcript. Can I use the statement of degree result to apply for the visa or would only degree certificates be accepted? Thanks for your advice.
