Religion / Meet The Prostitute Who Has Helped Others Turn To Jesus !! by gister2: 3:58pm On Dec 27, 2012
How can one be a prostitute and then be a “a virgin in Christ?”

Annie Lobert, an ex prostitute has appeared in a new video in which she shares how she became “a virgin in Christ”.

Before turning her life around, Lobert worked on the streets for 16 years. She is now a new woman in Christ and wants to help as many other women find their away to Jesus as possible.

Now 44 years old, Lobert who has survived cancer and drug addiction shares her story which starts with a troubled childhood, growing up in an abusive home. She admits to looking to boys at school to boost her self esteem. She tells a emotional story of getting intimate with a boy who told her he would marry her and then finding out he had told the same story to her best friends and they had all been intimate with him.

After high school graduation, at the tender age of 18, Lobert left home and went to Minneapolis. She says:

”I had to work three jobs to have my own place and buy a car. I thought if I had nice clothes and went to the clubs, maybe I could meet a rich guy that would sweep me off my feet and would take care of me like a prince would. I thought money was the answer to the deep seated, rooted unforgiveness towards my dad, towards that boy in school. I just wanted revenge.”

She describes going into prostitution for the money. One night she says she and a friend sold themselves to some Japanese clients and that is how the prostitution started. Suddenly her $3.47 per hour wage, at her job, paled in comparison to the “$500 per hour with no attachment, no relationship, $1000 per hour, now it was $2000 per hour, it gave me this immense power and if you wanted me for the night it was $10,000.”

Lobert describes being beaten by a man who said he loved her, suffering through cancer and chemotherapy and overdosing on coke before finally realizing that she needed a savior.

”I went completely blind. It’s like the whole room, the light that was on in that room turned dark. And I remember lying there and I felt like this demonic presence just come over me… I knew it was over. And I saw my family, I saw my funeral, and I was in the coffin. And everybody was crying. They were wiping their faces, and they were saying, ‘She was just a prostitute.’

The former prostitute say she remembers calling out saying,

”Jesus, please save me. I do not know if you are real, but I don’t want to die. …And I knew that Jesus heard my prayer. And I laid there and I had this peace come over me, that was nothing like I had ever felt in my entire life. I knew God gave me a second chance.”

After getting better, Lobert shared that she started reading her bible and reluctantly going to church. She felt reluctant because she was “an ex-prostitute.” In church she found that she was accepted and embraced.

In January 2005, Lobert founded Hooker For Jesus to help victims of sex trafficking, sexual violence, and exploitation linked to pornography and the sex industry. In June 2009 her and Oz Fox, a guitarist in the heavy metal Christian band Stryper, got married.

Sports / Eagles Afcon List Out January 8 by gister2: 9:57am On Dec 27, 2012
Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has told supersport.com that the 23-man list for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations will be released on Tuesday, January 8 in Faro, Portugal.

The CAF deadline for the release of squads is January 9.

Keshi released a provisional list of 32 players comprising of 14 players from the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) and 18 overseas-based players last week.

The ‘Big Boss’ has now lifted the lid on the date the final list of Nigerian players to the 2013 AFCON will be released as the Super Eagles begin their quest to win the trophy for the third time.

“The final list will be released on January 8 (2013) at our training camp in Portugal. We would have ascertained the level of fitness, form and mental state of the players in the provisional list by that time,” Keshi said.

Stellar names like Kalu Uche, Obafemi Martins, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Peter Odemwingie were excluded from the provisional 32-man squad but Keshi is optimistic the players who made the cut will deliver the goods in South Africa.

“It’s not going to be easy but I am sure all the players are up for the task. We urge Nigerians to support all the 32 players in the squad. Those players are all Nigerians and deserve support.

“This is not the time to start talking about players who were not here. Everyone cannot play at the same time. We can play even without the players who were not selected.

“What these boys (in the provisional list) need now is confidence and I am sure they will deliver the goods for Nigeria,” Keshi said.

Nigeria are in Group C alongside Ethiopia, Burkina Faso and the reigning champions, Zambia.
The Super Eagles open their campaign against Burkina Faso’s Stallions on January 21 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

When Romeo Beckham, 10, was unveiled as the latest model for Burberry's trench coat, more than one eyebrow was raised in recognition.

The middle-son of David and Victoria looked mighty similar to another fan of beige outerwear - his father.

Studying snaps of father and son it soon becomes clear that the two have a lot more in common than just genes, dimples and a love for a certain type of jacke

Politics / Overland Airways Crash Averted by gister2: 7:51pm On Dec 18, 2012
A second horrible crash in two days was averted last Sunday when an Overland Airways flight from Ilorin to Lagos developed technical difficulties, as the plane was taking off, the pilot unable to retract the wheels for the rest of the journey.

A passenger on the flight told SaharaReporters those passengers aboard Flight OJ 1188 thought they were crashing as the aircraft took a long to stabilize after takeoff.

He described an unusually turbulent take off, the aircraft wobbling its way into Murtala Muhammad Airport with its landing gear hanging dangerously out of its belly throughout the flight.

Overland Airways began the Sunday flight service from Ilorin to Lagos on July 08, saying it wanted to offer comfort and satisfaction to passengers who want to travel at the weekend and boost inter-connectivity within the region.

Overland Airways, which has been in business since 2003, is linked to the Bauchi state governor, Isa Yuguda. It has yet to make a comment on last Sunday’s flight experience, and SaharaReporters has been unable to confirm if the aircraft is back in the air.

The company claims to operate “a fleet of well-maintained Beechcraft 1900D, ATR 42-320 and ATR 72 aircraft operating non-scheduled and scheduled flights to various destinations in Nigeria, West and Central Africa.”

Taking delivery of the ATR 72 aircraft last October, Overland indicated it was the first of six.

Religion / Five Nigerians Emerge As Richest Pastors In Africa - Forbes by gister2: 4:56pm On Dec 18, 2012
Africans view the wealth of men of God from different perspectives. While some think there’s nothing bad living a good life filled with abundant wealth, others believe men of God are just supposed have enough, and that their calling doesn't require luxury spending.

Whichever way you choose to look at this, everyone has a right to their opinion.
Here are the five pastors Forbes think are the richest in Africa.

1. Bishop David Oyedepo

Affiliation: Living Faith World Outreach Ministry, aka Winners Chapel

Estimated net worth: $150 million

David Oyedepo is Nigeria’s wealthiest preacher. Ever since he founded the Living Faith World Outreach Ministry in 1981, it has grown to become one of Africa’s largest congregations. The Faith Tabernacle, where he hosts three services every Sunday, is Africa’s largest worship center, with a seating capacity of 50,000. Oyedepo owns four private jets and homes in London and the United States. He also owns Dominion Publishing House, a thriving publishing company that publishes all his books (which are often centered on prosperity). He founded and owns Covenant University, one of Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions, and Faith Academy, an elite high school.

2. Chris Oyakhilome

Church: Believers’ Loveworld Ministries, a.k.a Christ Embassy

Estimated net worth: $30 million – $50 million

Last year, the charismatic preacher was at the center of a $35 million money laundering case in which he was accused of siphoning funds from his church to foreign banks. Pastor Chris pleaded no wrongdoing and the case was eventually dismissed. His church, Christ Embassy, boasts more than 40,000 members, several of whom are successful business executives and politicians. Oyakhilome’s diversified interests include newspapers, magazines, a local television station, a record label, satellite TV, hotels and extensive real estate. His Loveworld TV Network is the first Christian network to broadcast from Africa to the rest of the world on a 24 hour basis.

3. Temitope Joshua

Church: Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN)

Estimated net worth: $10 million – $15 million

Nigeria’s most controversial clergyman is also one of its richest and most philanthropic. T.B Joshua heads the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), a congregation he founded in 1987, which accommodates over 15,000 worshippers on Sundays. The Pastor has remained controversial for several years for his inexplicable powers to heal all sorts of incurable diseases, including HIV/AIDS, cancer and paralysis. For miracle-craving worshippers, it’s the perfect seduction. The church currently has branches in Ghana, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Greece. In the past three years, he has given over $20 million to causes in education, healthcare and rehabilitation programs for former Niger Delta militants. He owns Emmanuel TV, a Christian television network, and is close friends with Ghanaian President Atta Mills.

4. Matthew Ashimolowo

Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC)

Estimated net worth: $6 million – $10 million
In 1992, Foursquare Gospel Church, a Nigerian church, sent Ashimolowo to open a satellite branch in London. But Pastor Matthew had other ideas and decided to set up his own church instead. Today, his Kingsway International Christian Center is reportedly the largest Pentecostal church in the United Kingdom. In 2009, the church posted profits of close to $10 million and assets worth $40 million. Ashimolowo earns an annual salary of $200,000, but his real wealth comes from varied business interests including his media company, Matthew Ashimolowo media, which churns out Christian literature and documentaries. Ashimolowo’s representatives did not respond to a request confirming his net worth and ownership of all these assets.

5. Chris Okotie
Church: Household of God Church
Net worth: $3 million -$10 million
Pastor Okotie made his first success as a popular pop musician in the 80s. He found the light, embraced the bible and set up the Household of God Church, one of Nigeria’s most flamboyant congregations. His 5,000 member church consists predominantly of Nollywood celebrities, musicians, and society people. He contested and lost Nigerian presidential elections for the third time this year under the Fresh Party, a political party he founded and funds. An automobile lover, he owns a Mercedes S600, Hummer

Celebrities / World’s First Gay Bible: Includes Chapter And Verses That Promote Same S*x by gister2: 10:26am On Dec 18, 2012
A book claiming to be the world’s first ‘gay bible’ has been published to coincide with the debate on same-s*x marriage.

Titled the ‘Queen James Bible’, its editors claim that it is a re-working of the King James Bible translated in a way that ‘prevents homophobic misinterpretation of God’s Word’.

‘Homosexuality was first overtly mentioned in the Bible in 1946 in the Revised Standard Version. There is no mention of or reference to homosexuality in any Bible prior to this – only interpretations have been made’, the book’s official website said.

KING V QUEEN: BIBLES COMPARED

Genesis 19:5 (King James)
‘And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them.’

Genesis 19:5 (Queen James)
‘And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may r*pe and humiliate them’

Timothy 1:10 (King James)
‘For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine’

Timothy 1:10 (Queen James)
‘For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine’

Jude 1:7 (King James)’
‘Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire’

Jude 1:7 (Queen James)
‘Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after nonhuman flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire’

The publication, printed and bound in the U.S. is timed to coincide with the current debate over same-s*x marriage.

The sales pitch on the website says: ‘You can’t choose your sexuality, but you can choose Jesus. Now you can choose a Bible, too’.

The book is on sale online but does not advertise its origins, with no specific publisher, editor or translator listed by name on it’s offical website. ‘God’ is listed as the author and ‘Jesus Christ’ a contributor.

Douglas J. Moo, Wessner Chair of Biblical Studies at Wheaton College and a professional Bible translator, told The Christian Post that the Queen James editors’ assessment of past translations is not entirely accurate.

‘Few, if any English translations use the actual words ‘homosexuality’ or ‘homosexual.’ But the history of English translation shows that versions have consistently used other language to refer to what we would call homosexual relationships’, said Mr Moo.

‘For instance, the King James Version of Romans 1:27 refers to ‘men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly.

‘It would be very difficult to deny that this language, and the language found in many other places in both the OT and the NT, refers to homosexuality.’

Celebrities / I Am Not Competing With Davido – Wizkid by gister2: 6:47pm On Dec 15, 2012
About my career

Although I am hardworking, I would not be where I am today if God had not made it possible. It has been hard work all the way. I am just thankful to God. Initially, I prayed to God to bless my work. I have always believed in hard work. If you work hard, you will be rewarded. I just kept working hard and staying on my lane and doing my thing. I wouldn’t say I saw this success coming. But I kept praying to God to make it happen for me and He did. I don’t intend to stop now, just because I have achieved this ‘little’ success. I am just on my first album. I am not fulfilled yet. I am not even close to getting fulfilled. I have not started anything. I feel that God has a big plan for me. I have to live up to expectation. That is why I am always working. My album is ready. I dropped my album last year. It is going to be another two years before I release another one. The new album reflects a more mature Wizkid at work. I will be involved in a number of collaborations.

About Empire Mate Entertainment

I am not a greedy person. I am very open with the people I work with. All the people on the EME label act like members of one family. What we have is not just a working relationship. I am not scared or worried about the other artistes signed on to EME. When Banky W and I started the records label, our dream was to make EME an empire. It was after my album became successful that we started having new artistes. If Banky W didn’t pull me up, I wouldn’t be where I am today. It is all about talent at EME. There is no rivalry here. That is not how we work. Before I release any song, I let my label mates listen to it. Even if there is a beat I have, I let them listen to it. This is a family thing. We work together. There is no rivalry among us. If we had any competition, it would not augur well for the growth of the label. All we have is love. I am grateful to God for taking us this far. We are not competing with anybody, even outside EME. We are doing our thing and getting our money.

Davido and I

There is certainly no friction between Davido and I. We are friends, just as I am friendly with other Nigerian artistes. I think some people are just saying what comes to their minds. When I emerged as a singer, people were comparing me with Wande Coal. The sky is big enough for every bird to fly. He (Davido) has not stolen my fans. Nobody has said that he has lured my fans away. I am still performing at shows and getting well paid for it. I am not competing with him either. My fans still show me love. But then, in Nigeria, all of us actually have the same fans. If I mount the stage, people will scream. They will do the same thing if Tuface appears on stage, too. This shows that the sky is big enough for all of us. You cannot be alone in the music industry. We need more people. This is not a one-man show.

My kind of music

When I go into the studio, I try to record a song that would sound different when you play it in a nightclub or on the radio station. I had to create my own type of music. I had expected people to think of my music as different from what they are used to.

Occasional regrets

It is not often that I wish I wasn’t involved in entertainment. But when I think of not doing what I used to do anymore, I feel bad. I cannot walk freely on the streets again. But then, the other rewards I get from being an artiste make up for such moments. You cannot have everything at once.

Back to school

I have planned my career. If I have to go back to school, it means I have to study music business. I want to learn more about my business. Although I have my lawyers handling stuff for me now, I really want to know more about music. If I have to have my own company in future, I will be able to handle it. Definitely, I will go back to school one day. Right now, everything is fine. If I have to go back to school, it has to be on a part time basis. I have concerts to attend and I am always going on tour. It will be difficult for me to go back to school and study full time.

Music fans
I feel blessed when people cluster around me. Although it can get crazy sometimes, it is still a blessing. I used to walk freely on the streets before and nobody gave me attention. But the story has changed now and I think it is a good thing. I don’t have to feel bad about it.

No love child

It was rumoured that I had a love child. Even if I had a child, I don’t think it is something I should be ashamed of. Instead, I would come out plainly and declare that I am a father. Everybody makes mistakes. But it was just a false rumour. I don’t have a child anywhere. Besides, women hang around every male artiste. It comes with the job. Girls will definitely fall in love with any successful musician. They may find you attractive just because you are talented. I handle women my own way.

Aspiration

I want to be a good father to my children when the time comes. I intend to have a great family. Right now, I am working to have a better life. I always try to plan ahead. It is too early to ask me if I have seen the woman I would spend the rest of my life with. I am not even involved in any relationship.

My family

My family gives me plenty of support and love. They are always with me. When problems come, they are the ones I run to.

Managing fame

I know that many people have not been able to manage fame. So they get hooked on hard drugs and other vices. People don’t know that I am under pressure most of the time. In spite of this, I have managed to go this far....

Politics / “you Will See Changes Next Year” – Pres. Jonathan Promises Nigerians by gister2: 9:48am On Dec 14, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan has promised Nigerians that his government will make remarkable improvements next year. He urged citizens to be law-abiding and eschew violence assuring that the nation will see changes in infrastructure and security in the coming year.

The president reportedly said this yesterday at the Presidential Christmas Carol held at the Banquet Hall of the presidential villa.

He said, “I urge Nigerians to, in the spirit of Christmas, embrace peace. The wars will not save us. Christ brought peace to free everybody. If we embrace peace, we will progress. We have challenges, but we have everything in place to overcome them.

“In the New Year, we will see the changes in the airports, seaports, power and security as we progress. Surely, 2013 will be a better year for the country,” he assured.

In his sermon, Bishop of Ogbia Diocese, James Oruwari urged Nigerians to love their enemies, adding that God will manifest in the life of any believer who shows love to his neighbours and forgives them.

The president has assured the citizens but skeptics will reiterate that all they get from the Jonathan government are promises and more promises.

Celebrities / I Do It Alone.i Don’t Have A Team! Gidi Traffic Speaks About How It All Started by gister2: 4:24pm On Dec 11, 2012
GV: Who or what is Gidi Traffic?

Who: -GidiTraffic is just a regular person who decided to affect the society positively by rendering a service to the people.
What: -GidiTraffic is basically an online service that facilitates in the sharing of various useful pieces of information mainly Vehicular traffic updates, security alerts and lots more

GV: When was Gidi Traffic established? And can you please provide some more details around how you got started?

Well no ceremony to it, on the 23rd of September 2011 i picked up my handheld and created a twitter account “@Gidi_Traffic”. Prior to that i had made my intention known to my brother who shoved the idea aside saying it wouldn’t fly, well i guess only i could see a clear picture of what i wanted to do.

GV: What is the size of your team?

Well contrary to suspicion, its not a team behind @Gidi_Traffic. Its just an Individual and yes i do it alone, well my alarm clock also plays a vital role in getting me up so i guess i cant take all the credit.
But in retrospect its I and my followers we are the ‘TEAM’ that make up GidiTraffic, “Lending Each Other An Eye” Plain and simple

GV: Do you work from a single location?

No i don’t work from everywhere. Its the World Wide Web remember?

GV: What was the motivation behind this brilliant idea?

I loathe Traffic jams a lot and i know that feeling isn’t peculiar to me so i basically wanted to create a service that would help remedy an unpleasant phenomenon in our society.

GV: Have you had any ups and downs since you flagged off Gidi Traffic on twitter?

Ups and downs? well all the time, My tweet counts go Up and Down depending on the time of the day

GV: Do you also have a 9-5 job or is Gidi Traffic an all Time for you?

No I dont have a 9-5 job i have a 5-10 job basically.

GV: You recently clinched an award at the Future Awards. We’ve seen tweets from your followers referring to you as Nigerian google, how does that make you feel?

Yes i did get the Future Award 2012 for the ‘Best Use Of New Media’ and that felt good.
Nigerian Google? Well, what ever names they might call or refer to me as doesn’t make or break the service i am willing to render. What matters is they are benefiting from the service i am rendering and that’s all i care about.

GV: How do you manage to respond to tweets on a minute by minute basis?

Very Simple, i just try to be available when they need me.

GV: Ok. Here’s the question we’ve been itching to ask and has been on the lips of everyone, is Gidi Traffic male or female?

Well i’ld like to think GidiTraffic Is human though this seems highly debatable these days

GV: What key lessons have you learnt starting up Gidi Traffic?

I’ve learnt quite a lot since starting up Gidi Traffic especially about people and their interactions with each other. I have also learnt that we have a very slim tolerance for each other. while we have some good people out there who would take their time to help others, we also have those, sadly the majority, who would exhibit a high level of insensitivity to the plights of others. I always say “We Are All Equal But With Different Privileges”. The fact that you know something does not make you any better than the other person who doesn’t it only gives you a privilege. The world will be a better place if we all helped each other in the little ways we can, instead of mocking one another’s dis-privilege.

GV: Which people in the industry do you look up to as your role models and mentors?

Well i really don’t have one. My mentor is an animated character and i believe that has worked pretty fine for me

GV: What are your future plans for Gidi Traffic? Should we expect a PH Traffic or Enugu Traffic in the later future?

Well i’m really not one for letting the cat out of the bag pretty early but, all i can say is i have got a lot cooking in the kitchen soon it’ll ready and everyone shall have a taste of this delight

Celebrities / Chris Okotie Made Me Work Without Pay For 14 Years, Man Tells Court by gister2: 11:50am On Dec 09, 2012
A former Church worker said Mr. Okotie made him work for 14 years without pay.
On February 5, 2013, the flamboyant head of the Household of God Church International, Chris Okotie, is expected to appear before an Ikeja Magistrate Court.
In his trademark smooth, and colourful language, Mr. Okotie will tell Magistrate T.A. Akanni how and why his church did not pay a former church worker and keyboardist for 14 years salaries totalling N39 million.
Dafiaghor Okiotor, a former keyboardist at the church before he fell out with Mr. Okotie in 2009, said that the money covers the
14 years he worked for the church without emolument.
The church, however, insisted that he was “working for God.

Coming to Lagos
A 21-year-old Mr. Okiotor arrived in Lagos in 1993 to pursue a music career with his friends – a dream he said made him abandon his study at the Delta State University.
“We wanted to become superstars overnight,” said Mr. Okiotor, 40, leaning forward from his seat in his lawyer’s office.
“I came to Lagos to do music,” he added.
On arrival, he joined Winners Christian Centre, Surulere, where he doubled as a keyboardist as well as choir master.
For his efforts, he said that the church gave him a one room apartment as well as a N4,000 monthly salary.
However, his sights were still set on a musical career and, on his way to Tabansi Records at Alausa, he bumped into a charismatic Mr. Okotie at Oregun.
And a 14 year affair ensued; a relationship that would later become tempestuous, landing Mr. Okiotor a short stint in prison, and eventually ending up in a court room.
The Okotie connection
In mid 1995, Mr. Okiotor said that he met the head of Household of God Church after he learnt that there was an opening for a keyboardist.
The perks that accompanied that opening included a N10,000 monthly salary and, after an undisclosed probation period, a three-bedroom apartment, according to Mr. Okiotor.
“He (Okotie) said that he wants to see my faithfulness before giving me the three-bedroom apartment,” Mr. Okiotor said.
“But first, a room apartment, and when that expires and they think that I’m good enough…
“I was so excited; from a N4,000 to a N10,000 monthly salary,” Mr. Okiotor added.
The keyboardist said that barely two months into his new job, the salaries stopped coming.
“About 5 to 6 months after I’ve not been getting anything, I met him (Okotie) and he told me that ‘Didn’t I tell you that we have to see your faithfulness? It was because we thought you were good that was why we rented you an apartment.’
“That sounded like a subtle threat, so I left the matter,” said Mr. Okiotor.
“Then again, it is easy to believe if a pastor says ‘I’ll give you N50 million’ because he can wake up anyday and give you.
“And again, other members of the church will tell me, if I want to grumble, that ‘Do I know how much he is worth? How much is my salary?’”
At the expiration of the one room apartment rented by the church, Mr. Okiotor said that he was unable to renew it and was subsequently evicted by the house owner.
“I told pastor about it, he was not even in the mood to listen to me. He said he was travelling and when he gets back, he was going to sort it out. He never did.

Celebrities / Covenant Uni Was Built With No Collection Of Offering,Tithe, Donation- Oyedepo by gister2: 11:36am On Dec 09, 2012
The General Overseer of the Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has replied critics who accuse him of living a flamboyant life with funds generated by his church.

Oyedepo reportedly opened up on Friday at the Shiloh 2012 saying the last time he received remuneration from the church was 25 years ago, he said he has maintained that stance since then.

According to him: “The last time Church paid my salary was December 1987, nobody heard it, not even the Ministers in the church until 1997 and church members didn’t hear this until 2007.

“In January of 1988 my wife asked me of money for feeding and I told her I had given my salary to God, and that was the last time she ever had to ask for feeding till date.”

The bishop went further to inform attendees of the programme that the Covenant University, which is owned by the church, was built in 7-months without receiving offering, tithes, or donation of any kind.

“Covenant university was built within 7 months without any collection of any one Naira tithes and offerings or donation of any kind from anywhere.

“I have personal accountants managing funds from my businesses so that I don’t miscalculate my tithe,” he explained.

So there you have it people, are you satisfied with the bishop’s explanation? Let’s have your say?

Celebrities / ‘I Don’t Feel Any Pressure Being Eme’s First Lady’ – Niyola by gister2: 12:50pm On Dec 07, 2012
Born Eniola Akinbo, she’s better known as sultry singer Niyola. The only lady in the EME squad, she’s had a career that has spanned over 10 years, and in this interview, says she’s ready to stage a comeback, challenges notwithstanding.

What has your journey to and through the music industry been like?

I started doing music quite early. I was part of Starlet music competition in 2000. It used to be part of the events for the AMEN Awards. I was the first runner-up for that year, and it was where I met people like Plantashun Boiz, Psquare, Paul Play and Slam, who I used to see on TV and hear about. From there, I started singing back up for Sound Sultan and Baba Dee, and I did a duet with Faze on a track for his first album. I was also on Trybe Records for a short period. After I left them, I recorded my first two singles with Make Some Noise Productions. The songs were accepted and from there I decided to continue, after which I got signed to Westside Records label.

Has your journey been what you expected it to be, considering the fact that you’ve been in the game for over a decade?

Because I am doing this for the passion I have for it, I will say all the time and effort I’ve put into this business has been worth it for me, and I won’t say I have regrets, because I know this is the beginning of a new dispensation for me. When I left Westside, I took some time off to retreat. I felt I needed some time to put certain things in place, especially because I thought I was going to be starting on my own. I knew I needed to set a lot of things right and be sure I was ready for the journey I was about to take, and as God will have it, I came back with EME.

Your video ‘Don’t go there‘ was just released. How did you find the experience?

It was amazing. We rehearsed for about four weeks before the video was shot. The choreography, the dancers and the dances made it all fun.

Politics / No Longer FRESH: INEC Deregisters Kris Okotie’s Party, 27 Others by gister2: 7:40am On Dec 07, 2012
The Independent National Electoral Commission yesterday deregistered 28 political parties including Fresh Party promoted by Pastor Kris Okotie.

Also on the list of deregistered parties are Balarabe Musa’s Peoples Redemption Party (PRP); the National Reformation Party (NRP), founded by the late nationalist, Anthony Enahoro; The National Advance Party of Dr. Tunji Braithwaite (NAP), as well as the Democratic Peoples Alliance (DPA) of ex-Finance Minister, Olu Falae.

In a statement signed and issued by the secretary to the commission, Abdullahi A. Kaugama, INEC said it acted in good faith and in accordance to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

“In the exercise of the powers conferred on it by the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), the Independent National Electoral Commission has, today, Thursday, December 6, 2012, deregistered the following political parties: . .,” the statement read in part.

The reason for the party deregistration was not made clear to the public but it appears this has been communicated directly to the parties affected.

Kayode Idowu, spokesman to the INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega spoke to newsmen yesterday night saying, “The statement is clear and the commission had contacted the affected political parties and they know the reasons for our action.”

There are speculations that the party licences were withdrawn due to their inability to win any electoral seat in the 2011 elections.

Former presidential aspirant, Tunji Braithwaite yesterday reportedly reacted to news of the deregistration saying, “I am not aware of the deregistration; and if it is true, they are wasting their time. It is a matter we shall address. We will not accept it. It is an interference with the fundamental rights of the Nigerian people.”

Balarabe Musa also said that the action of the electoral body would not stand. He said he was not told why his political party was deregistered.

“We have contempt for those who think they can kill PRP and what it stands for. We will rely on Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution to continue to function as a political party and also continue the struggle for democracy.

“This deregistration will not stand. In fact, it is the beginning of dictatorship in Nigeria by (Chairman of INEC, Prof Attahiru) Jega and it will not stand,”
Musa said on the phone Thursday night.
