The prayer program was for 30mins, 12:00 - 12:30.

The prayer program was also enforced upon staffs as lateness wasn't condoled. Few staff and students who came late for the program were forced to make their own prayers outside the chapel under the hot sun.

The police have arrested six persons who allegedly vandalised the NNPC pipelines at Abule Egba, Lagos, that destroyed 100 houses and 77 vehicles worth millions of naira. Gistvic Reports.

The suspects are PDP House of Assembly aspirant Hon.(Amb) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, 40, Rasak Oyakunle aka Akeregun; Abdulazeez Agboola aka Boggy, 29; Akin Ayansola alias Babalati, 44; Kazeem aka Aladija, 50 and Saheed Isiola alias Obama, 36.

Parading the suspects yesterday, Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, said: “On December 18, 2018, at about 2am, there was a fire outbreak at Isopako Awori in Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

The fire emanated from the NNPC pipeline that was deliberately ruptured by the vandals in their bid to siphon premium motor spirit (PMS) from the pipe. It destroyed 100 houses and 77 vehicles worth millions of naira.

Following the development, operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, were detailed to investigate the incident and ensure that the suspects are nabbed.”

He said the operatives were mobilised to the scene and they picked up pieces of evidence for analysis, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

Edgal said during interrogation, Oyakunle confessed to committing the crime and revealed that he owned the generator repair workshop on the spot where the ruptured pipeline was laid.

“Oyakunle confessed that the workshop was located on the spot to enable them siphon fuel undetected,” he said. Edgal said the gang had been in the illicit business for years. Gistvic Reports.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Office, on January 24, 2019 arraigned one David Eseli before Justice Mohammed Tukur of the Kaduna State High Court, on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and employment scam. Gistvic Reports.

Eseli was arrested by operatives of the EFCC acting on a petition by one Mrs. Hauwa Musa, who alleged that sometime in November 2017, she was called via a “strange” phone number, which the person later disguised as a staff of Guarantee Trust Bank, GTB and advertised a job at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC, for her relatives.

She further alleged that she was persuaded to succumb to the request and thereafter informed her husband (Musa Ibrahim), and she was instructed to furnished names of her candidates which she did. She then paid the sum of N365, 000 and additional money which he claimed was for medicals, training, accommodation and feeding through different account names and numbers.

He pleaded “not guilty” to the charge.

In his ruling, Justice Tukur ordered that the defendant should be remanded in prison, and adjourned the case to February 28, 2019 for “hearing”. Gistvic Reports.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Office on January 24, 2019 arraigned three suspected fraudsters and their company before Justice Z.B. Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on a two-count charge bordering of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of £100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Pounds). Gistvic Reports.

The suspects – Benjamin Soile, Okoro Junior, Abubakar Mustapha and Abueleven Limited, are alleged to have defrauded Sa’adatu Dasuki of the said sum.

They were arrested by operatives of the EFCC, upon receipt of the petition by Dasuki, who alleged that in September 2018, Okoro and Soile, officials of Access Bank Plc, Kwato Road Branch, Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna conspired with Mustapha to defraud her of £100,000.

They pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

In his ruling, Justice Abubakar granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N500, 000 each and two sureties in like sum, who must own a landed property within the jurisdiction of the Court. One of the sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 9.

The case was thereafter adjourned to February 14, 2019 for hearing, and the defendants ordered to be remanded in prison pending the perfection of the bail conditions. Gistvic Reports.
