Politics / Bayelsa State Hon. Commissioner Engages In A Fight With Street Boys Over N10,000 by GistMeInfo: 7:36pm On May 17, 2017
The Commissioner of Water Resources Bayelsa State, Hon. Tubonah Talbot; was seen recently in the public engaging in a fight with Street Touts over what they called “Destruction Of An Un-commissioned Road By The Commissioner’s Bulldozer”, a project which was made possible by the former IYC President.

According to multiple sources, the Street Boys demanded money from the Commissioner for tilting their road with his Bulldozer but the Commissioner refused by claiming that he had given them about N10,000 the previous week. The boys made their displeasure known by saying that the money he gave them was for securing the Bulldozer and not for repairing the road.

These series of misunderstanding among the Street Boys and the Commissioner’s boys resulted into a fight which later required the intervention of the Police force from Azikoro town in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

One of the sources, having witnessed what happened said, the Commissioner failed for not diplomatically managing the situation. He allowed his driver and his boys to blow the issue out of proportion.

Whereas, another eye witness said, the Hon. Commissioner was only massaging his ego to intimidate the boys with his swift call to the police for mass arrest”.

The swift response of the police at the scene made some of the boys scamper to avoid arrest but a policeman was seen trying to scale through a Residential Fence in other to get some of the street boys arrested.

Trendclock also gathered that, some of the arrested boys were later released due to a prompt call put through by the former IYC President.

Health / Staffs Of Jos University Teaching Hospital Begins Sit-at-home Strike by GistMeInfo: 7:46pm On Jul 11, 2016
Staffs of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) have embarked on a sit-at-work strike to protest the non-payment of their June salaries.

A reporter, who visited the hospital, documented that the workers came to their working place but barely sat down and did not resume their normal duties.

Some of the staffs were seen signing the attendance register at the hospital but blatantly refused to attend to patients.

Secretary of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU), JUTH chapter, Mr Samfi Kesuwo said that they embarked on the strike on Friday to press home their demand for payment of the June salaries.

“We just come to work and sit down doing nothing. We wonder why only 394 members of staff were paid, out of the 2094 workers.

“Although we are yet to be addressed by management over why we were not paid, rumours have it that it was a system failure from IPPIS.

“But it is amazing to us that the system recognised only Heads of Departments and the Chief Medical Director (CMD)’s loyalists and paid them”.

“The burning question is, how did the system recognised the CMD’s loyalists and the heads of the departments?’’

He said that the workers would continue with the strike until their salaries were paid.

The CMD of JUTH, Prof Edmund Banwat while reacting to the development attributed the non-payment of salaries of most of the workers to “an error from the IPPIS’’.

“An error occurred on the IPPIS platform in the course of the payment”.

“The management of the IPPIS admitted the error and promised to rectify it immediately after the Sallah break, but the break was extended, leaving them with only Friday to carry out the rectification”.

“Unfortunately, we woke up that Friday to find the gates and offices locked by the workers over the non-payment of salaries”.

“IPPIS is in Abuja, but the workers are venting their anger on us here”.

“There is nothing we can do outside pleading with the workers to just wait for IPPIS to rectify the issues,’’ he said.

The Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) is one of the Federal Government of Nigeria Public Financial Management reform initiative. It is aimed at improving the management of human resources and eliminate fraud in the Nigeria Public Service.

Celebrities / See The Reason Why They Wanted To Kill Comedian Gordons by GistMeInfo: 6:36pm On Jul 10, 2016
According to an interview he had with HipTV, Gordons says they wanted to kill him when his mother gave birth to him because he had pre-formed teeth immediately after delivery.

This is due to the fact that, in the traditional belief system of the community where he was given birth to in Ondo Sate, it is a taboo for New-born babies to have pre-formed teeth right from the mother's womb.

Gordons also said, one thing his fans don’t know about him is that he is a very shy person and that when he is on stage, he is known as Gordons. But when he is not on stage, he is known as Godwin.

Godwin Komone popularly known as Gordons is a Nigerian Comedian and Musical Artist. He is an indigene of Delta State and an Urhobo by tribe but was born in Ondo State.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Fails Water-resistance Test by GistMeInfo: 5:55pm On Jul 10, 2016
Consumer Reports, a non-profit organization that is well respected for its product testing, says a Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, a rugged model available only through AT&T in the U.S is not Water Resistant as being advertised.

Different Companies that label their devices “water-resistant” have a variety of benchmarks. In this case, Samsung says the Samsung Galaxy follows an engineering standard called IP68 that covers both dust- and water-resistance, and that the phone is designed to survive immersion in five feet of water for about 30 minutes. That was the spec Consumer Reports used in testing the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.
Although, the standard S7 and S7 Edge models have the same claims on water resistance and passed several tests.

Consumer Report’s technicians placed a Galaxy S7 Active in a water tank pressurized to 2.12 pounds-per-square-inch, the equivalent of just under five feet of water, and set a timer for about 30 minutes. When the phone was removed, the screen was obscured by green lines, and tiny bubbles were visible in the lenses of the front- and rear-facing cameras. The touchscreen wasn’t responsive at all.

Following Consumer Reports standard procedure to avoid bias, when the first phone failed the immersion test, a second Galaxy S7 Active was subjected to the same test. The second phone failed as well. After it was removed from the tank, the screen cycled on and off every few seconds, and moisture could be seen in the front and back camera lenses. They also noticed water in the slot holding the SIM card.

For a couple of days following the test, the screens of both phones would light up when the phones were plugged in, though the displays could not be read. The phones never returned to functionality.

Some worshipers have been killed on Friday after two suicide bombers attacked the Damboa central mosque in Borno state. Two suicide bombers have attacked the Damboa central mosque in Borno state in the wee hours of Friday as six worshipers were reportedly killed. Sani Usman, the acting director of public relations of the Nigerian Army, confirmed this in a statement, saying that one of the bombers successfully detonated while the other insurgent was said to have “exploded” after being prevented from detonating.

“At the early hours of today, precisely at about 5.15am, two Boko Haram terrorists’ suicide bombers attacked Damboa. “The first suicide bomber targeted Damboa Central Mosque but due to stringent security measures, he could not gain entry. Obviously frustrated, he exploded and died near the Central Mosque.

“However, the second bomber veered off and gained entry into another smaller mosque and detonated the bomb killing himself and 6 other worshipers and injuring one other person. “The wounded has been evacuated to a hospital while efforts are on to clear the rubbles. Troops and other security agencies have been mobilized to the area,” he said.

Politics / Niger Delta Avengers Shades Buhari As New Twitter Handle And Website Is Being Launched by GistMeInfo: 4:22pm On Jul 08, 2016
FEW hours after its twitter handle was shutdown, Niger Delta Avengers, a highly dreaded militant group operating in the Southern part of Nigeria, has launched a new twitter handle @Real_Ndavengers and a website .

The militant group had, in the previous months, promoted attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta using its Twitter handle @Niger Delta Avengers before it was taken down by the officials of Twitter.

However, the group believes that the Federal Government must have instigated “Twitter Nigeria” to shut down its twitter handle and throws shade at the Federal Government saying “@NGRPresident We are back in it” via its new Twitter handle.
