The attacks on Saturday, December 24 and on Christamas day in Goska, Kaninkon chiefdom of Jema’a Local Government Area of the Kaduna State have been confirmed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

He described the attacks as the handiwork of forces of darkness.

The attacks in Goska occurred in spite of a 24-hour curfew the state government imposed on Jema’a and two other local governments in Kaduna. The other local governments are Zangon-Kataf and Kaura.

President Muhammadu Buhari had also endorsed the curfew after a closed door meeting with Mr. El-Rufai.

The curfew was put in place to prevent violent attacks like the one that occurred in Goska. It was announced a day after an attack by demonstrators in Kafanchan on the governor and his officials after a state security council meeting in the town.

Mr. El-Rufai, in a statement on Sunday by his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, expressed sympathy with the families that lost loved ones in the renewed attack. Although the details of the attacks and the casualty were not stated, the governor charged security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“While the government and security agencies were working assiduously to block all windows to ensure that citizens throughout the three local government areas and the state at large are protected, these forces of darkness that represent evil and inhumanity struck again, killed innocent citizens, burnt their houses, injured some and terrified many”, the governor stated.

“Government and security agencies will not be deterred, we will continue to be resilient, up and doing and courageous in tackling this unfortunate situation.

“Their tactics are to create a chasm, divide people, breed hate and prejudice and plunge the state into chaos but we will triumph over these evil forces by the grace of almighty God”.

“Our deep empathy and prayers go to the families that lost their loved ones and those that lost their homes and properties. A total of N54.76 billion was spent on road
construction during the eight years tenure of

The federal government yesterday confirmed the discovery of crude oil in Borno State, North East Nigeria, thus raising the hope of the region joining the league of oil producing areas in the not-too-distant time.

The disclosure was made by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Jamila Shua’ra, when she presented her welcome address at the presentation of the 2016 petroleum sector scorecard held at the auditorium of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PDF) in Abuja yesterday.

Nigerians have been again warned by the

MISCONCEPTION TAKEN TOO FAR.
During my growing up days, we are fed with the news about a state in the south east (Ebonyi state) been so primitive that nothing good comes out of it. People believe that, Ebonyi people are always aggressive and usually fight among themselves. I told myself that , i don't believe in principle of generalization, and that i will pay a visit to the state to get a first hand experience, before concluding about the earlier stated facts. As God may have it, we went for one week field mapping in Ebonyi during my undergraduates days. I discovered that, Ebonyi people are hard working and God bless them with a lot of mineral deposits, arable land for agriculture, good climate and above all, they are wonderful people and peace loving. People don't know that, Ebonyi rice, is the most cheapest rice in Nigeria and is accessible, unlike my state Governor's rice that is available only in the media and trade fair centres. Every year, Nigeria ranks them along side kastina, kebbi and zamfara states. I have a question for them, on what parameters, were they ranked ?. People say they prefer hard labour, instead of following the normal trend, Igbos are known for, business. I beg to differ, there is what we, call environmental determinism, were the environment, determines peoples behaviour, and lifestyle. They feed Nigeria, which is hard work, because if you are not strong, you cannot go into agriculture. They like hard labour because, without it, one cannot quarry. Ebonyi state is one of the fastest developing state in Nigeria. If you doubt me, pay a visit to Abakaliki or Afikpo. Dedicated to the peace loving people of Ebonyi.

His son ,Uzoma Igbonwa, whose people described as the true son of his father. He is a philanthropist and a great leader as the father. He was the immediate past chairman of Alor peoples Assemble. He tarred, one of the road in the community, provides scholarship to the indigent students, and equally builds houses for the widows. He was giving the title, Okife by the community. The Reigners Bible church building has
collapsed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with
many feared dead and several others injured.
The Church, located along Village Road, was
filled to capacity because its pastor was
being consecrated as a Bishop, when the
tragedy occurred, witnesses said.
“Pastor Akan Week was being consecrated
today so the programme was holding inside
the Church when suddenly, the whole building
collapsed,” one witness said.
The witness said the Church was being
renovated and upgraded because of the
expected high number of guests on Saturday.
“Many people are buried under the debris as
emergency workers continue rescue exercise,”
he said.
Governor Udom Emmanuel was expected to
attend the occasion, but, sources said he was
not at the church when it collapsed.
“The governor has gone to the scene and is
presently there helping with the rescue,” a
witness said.
Our sources said many victims have been
taken to various hospitals and mortuaries in
the town.
A source at one of the hospitals, Premier
Hospital, said many of the injured were taken
there and were receiving medical attention.
A police spokesperson who sounded
emotional when contacted by phone, said she
could not speak on the matter immediately.
“You need to be here to witness it, there is so
much confusion,” she simply said.
