Rabbits eating fresh grass:

AgricultureRe: The 2nd Most Prolific Animals!!! by GlorytoGod(op): 6:22am On Nov 21, 2016
The main component of every rabbit's diet should be fresh grass or hay. The high fibre content in grass is essential and the single most important thing in maintaining optimum intestinal and dental health in all rabbits. Without this crucial fibre, a rabbit's digestive system will not function properly. The movement of food through the gut will slow down, causing all manners of illnesses and, more often than not, can lead to an early death. The dental health of rabbits also depends hugely on the crucial fibre obtainable from fresh grasses and/or hay. Rabbit's teeth grow all the time, and need the chewing action of course substances to wear down and stop them becoming painfully too long inhibiting rabbit's ability to eat, swallow and groom themselves, all of which are essential functions for any rabbit. We can now see why some rabbits eat up the planks of their cage, plastic water troughs and other such items.
Hay not only meets some of the rabbits basic nutritional requirements, but it helps to keep rabbits occupied, reducing boredom. Rabbits will chew on almost anything, They seem to have little concept of what they can digest and what they cannot digest so keeping hay available will give them something to chew on that they can digest. Hay is an essential part of your rabbit’s diet, and you should no more leave your Rabbits without hay than you would leave them without water. Rabbits need lots of fiber, and hay provides it to them. A good quality hay should not be too expensive, and is really essential for your rabbit’s health and well being.Proof of the diet playing an important role in gastric stasis is seen when wild rabbits are compared to domestic rabbits. Wild rabbits don’t succumb to hairballs or most GI problems so why should domestic rabbits? The primary difference between wild and domestic rabbits is diet. In the wild, there is plenty of grass, leaves and other plant material for the rabbit to eat. With a domestic rabbit, the diet is frequently offered as pellets or a few vegetables and fruits. Without sufficient hay, these rabbits tend to succumb to various illnesses, including gastric stasis and hairballs. So for the health of your rabbits feed them hay!

Grasses and Hay as an Integral Part of Rabbit Feed
Yes,grasses and hay should form an Integral Part of your rabbit feed!We all know grasses of various kinds but what about hay? Hay is just grass that has been cut and left to dry out. It has about the same health and digestive benefits that fresh grass has.Did anyone of us wonder why the Federal Govt want to start importing grasses?Have you ever imagined how much grass horses and cows eat?Have you seen on some foreign movies how dried grasses(hay) is preserved and fed to animals, especially when the rains are gone?Follow me as l expanciate on this interesting topic.

pls do add me to the group 070 30280 111. More importantly how do u havest urine in your deep litter system?
Since the floor is covered with sand,l simply wait for the sand to be drenched in their urine (usually sand around their feeding spots) and we fetch the sand together with the poo straight to our plants. We then spread sand from other areas to cover the open spots. However, there is a way you can construct your cage so that their urine is collected to a container for you.

To know the gender of a big or mature rabbit, just look out for the male testicles around the genital area.It is easy to see a male rabbit's testicles especially on a hot day. The testicles must be kept at a certain temperature in order for sperm to be produced. The testicles descend further on hot days and are withdrawn inwardly to the body on cool days.In this way their temperature is regulated.Regardless of the age or size, you can always determine the sex of a rabbit simply by applying gentle pressure using your finger on either side of the genital area to open up the area so that you can see if your rabbit has a vulva or a penis. If the rabbit is a female, you will see a slit-like structure, commonly described as a letter I .If the rabbit is male you will see a round structure, which can be described as an O .ln other words,if a penis is present, it will protrude and become more obvious as a tube like structure. If a vulva is present, the lips tend to peel back in a petal shape.

How

Picture pls
Dear Friend,to have a self-cleaning cage, simply use galvanized wire mesh throughout the floor of the cage. You can also make a place for their fodder using large wire mesh. The fodder place is where you put all the fodder for them to eat from and this helps self-cleaning further.

GiggsTk:
Please, at weaning do you separate the sexes or just keep them together in a large space?.
A good job you're doing sir, it's beautiful, God bless.
One can let them be together as long as the space is big enough, whether cage or open space. They can always be together until the males are sexually mature and start competing for females.

(Ipomoea aquatica) is a semiaquatic, tropical plant that flourishes naturally in water and moist soil. Kangkong is an edible plant harvested as a leaf vegetable. Kangkong thrives in tropical and subtropical regions and is more commonly found in Southeast Asian countries.
Kangkong can grow rapidly spreading through waterways forming floating mats that can block water flow and passage of small water crafts. The USDA categorized kangkong as a “noxius weed” and is included in prohibited aquatic plant list.
Kangkong is a herbaceous trailing shiny vine with milky sap. The stems are hollow, rooting at nodes, usually found trailing in moist soil or floating in aquatic locations. Kangkong leaves are alternate, simple, in the shape of arrow heads about 3–14 cm (1–6 in) long. The hollow vines float on water and the leaves are held above the water line.
Kangkong bears trumpet like flowers whose petals are white or pink-lilac with mauve color at the center. Kangkong has oval or spherical seed pods that contains 1 to 4 gray seeds which may be used forplanting.
In Southeast Asian region, kangkong is a popular leaf vegetable and can be found in most Southeast Asian cuisines. Young shoots can be eaten raw as in salads or cooked with other vegetables, spices and meat.
Kangkong is a good source of amino acids, calcium, iron, vitamins B and C.

Kangkong, ScientificStudies - MedicalUses
Benefits of Kangkong for Diabetes
A study conducted in Department of Biochemistry and Nutrition, India reported that by administering powdered kangkong supplements to pregnant rats, both the mother and the fetus exhibited an increased resistance in diabetes induced oxidative stress versus a control group. The results suggest that kangkong supplementation during pregnancy may provide beneficial effects against diabetes induced oxidative stress both forthe mother and the fetus.(Journal of Diabetes. March 2013: Dietary supplementation with Ipomoea aquatica attenuates maternal and fetaloxidative stress in streptozotocin-diabetic rats)
Beneficial Effects of Kangkong Against Liver Disease
The Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Malaya in Malaysia conducted a study on the protective action of kangkong against thioacetamide-induced hepatotoxicity in rats to determine if kangkong can indeed help treat jaundice. An ethanol extract of kangkong has been administered to rats subjected to liver damage by thioacetamide. Results had shown that the rats when compared to a control group showed resistance against liver lesions, cell necrosis and inflammation. The study further suggests that the protective effectof kangkong extract in chemical-induced liver damage might be contributed to its modulation on detoxification enzymes and its antioxidant and free radical scavenger effects. Moreover, it confirms a scientific basis for the traditional use of kangkong forthe treatment of liver disorders. (Molecules. 2012: Ipomoea aquatica extract shows protective action against thioacetamide-induced hepatotoxicity)
