Business › The Future Of Cryptocurrency And How It Will Change The Financial Sector. by Godhealer(op): 3:53pm On Jan 18, 2022 |
The financial sector has always been at the forefront of emerging technologies. Even today, it’s still one of the biggest adopters of newfangled technologies like blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI).
The rapid increase in cryptocurrency prices over the past year has led to a growing interest in the technologies supporting these currencies. There are many different types of cryptocurrencies, each with its own unique features and characteristics that help it stand out from others.
Each cryptocurrency is supported by a blockchain, which is essentially a public ledger of all transactions made using that currency. The blockchains for most cryptocurrencies are open source, meaning anyone can view their contents at any time. They are also decentralized, which means they do not subject themselves to centralized dictatorship.
What is Cryptocurrency? Cryptocurrency is a type of digital asset that is designed to work as a medium of exchange using cryptography to secure the transactions and to control the creation of additional units of a particular cryptocurrency, called “coins” or “tokens.” Cryptocurrency is decentralized digital currency without the backing of any central bank or government.
How is cryptocurrency being used today? Cryptocurrency is being used for many different things. It can be used to pay for goods and services, such as in the case of Bitcoin. It can also be used to make donations to charities or causes that you support.
Another use of cryptocurrency is that it can be used to buy merchandise anonymously, without a middleman and involving lower or no fees and no banks. The digital nature of cryptocurrency also makes it easy to transfer funds between countries and across borders, facilitating international trade.
It has been used for this purpose on the dark web for some time, but also more recently in the physical world by major retailers including Overstock. Now, a new study by the University of Portsmouth has found that cryptocurrencies could also be used to improve the management of public finances. Business › Honduras Installs First Cryptocurrency ATM by Godhealer(op): 2:02pm On Aug 29, 2021 |
A Central American country, Honduras, has installed its first cryptocurrency Automated teller machine (ATM). This is the first cryptocurrency ATM in the country. Bitcoin and Ethereum can be purchased using the country's local lempira currency.
Honduras is not the only country that has adopted cryptocurrency. Its neighbor, El Salvador, passed a legal tender bill that will see Bitcoin become a legal tender in September 2021.
Venezuelan Turpial airlines also announced that it will now accept #bitcoin as a hedge against hyperinflation.
The cryptocurrency ATM was installed by Honduran firm TGU Consulting Group. Popularly called La Bitcoinera, the machine is located in Tegucigalpa, the country's capital.Juan Mayen, 28, chief executive of TGU, who led the crypto ATM revolution, said:
"You had to do it peer-to-peer, look for someone who … was willing to do it, meet in person and carry x amount of cash, which is very inconvenient and dangerous given the environment in Honduras."
Sadly, while this cryptocurrency revolution is sweeping across the globe, Nigeria is yet to lift the ban it imposed on institutions facilitating cryptocurrency transactions. https://genesis.com.ng/threads/honduras-installs-first-cryptocurrency-atm.45/#post-72
