Crime › Re: British Gay Couple Who Raped Their Adopted Baby Son To Death Set To Be Sentenced by GodHimself(m): 2:45pm On Jun 16 |
The adoption process itself is faulty. BlackViper: A teacher has been found guilty of sexually abusing and murdering the 13-month-old baby boy he adopted with his partner.
Preston Davey died in July 2023 at the hands of Jamie Varley, 37, who took a year off work to adopt him.
Varley, from Blackpool, told police Preston had accidentally drowned in a bath, but a post-mortem examination discovered the child had suffered 40 injuries.
His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, has been found guilty of sexual assault, child cruelty and allowing the death of a child. The pair will be sentenced on Thursday.
Preston was adopted by Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley, a financial sales manager, in April 2023 and in the next four months he suffered sexual abuse and ill-treatment, the trial at Preston Crown Court heard.
Preston was born in June 2022 and taken into care by Oldham Council.
Preston's mother, Sarah Davey, now 42, had been jailed at the age of 14 for the murder of a frail pensioner in 1998 and had been in and out of prison since then.
In court, his mother and grandmother sobbed throughout as the 29 guilty verdicts were returned.
Preston was placed with foster parents at five days old, remaining with them for the first 10 months of his life.
Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley were approved for adoption and Preston began living at their home in Blackpool in April 2023, when he was nine months old.
But in the just under four months he was in their care, he was routinely ill-treated, sexually abused and physically assaulted, suffering 40 traumatic injuries.
He also had indecent images and videos taken of him.
The trial heard Preston had been taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital three times in the months before his death with suspicious bruises noticed by medical staff, but these were explained away.
Preston had also been seen by several social workers.
Varley rushed Preston to hospital for a final time on 27 July, unresponsive. He claimed to have left the child in the bath for a couple of minutes and returned to find him submerged.
But the trial heard Preston's hair was dry, he had a nappy on and he did not appear to have swallowed any water.
A Home Office post-mortem examination ruled out drowning as the cause of death, with the cause found to be acute upper airways obstruction by an object or objects inserted into his mouth.
'Pure evil'
Varley stood in the dock and put his hands to his face as the guilty verdicts were read out, before collapsing to his knees, retching and vomiting.
McGowan-Fazakerley did not react but his father, who was watching from the gallery, shook his head.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fallows said the two men were "pure evil".
"Almost from day one, they set about abusing Preston and making his short life a harrowing tale of misery and pain," he said.
"For the first nine months of his life Preston was a happy and healthy child but by the end he was a broken shell.
"This was due to the sordid and wicked acts of Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley."
Karen Tonge for the Crown Prosecution Service said it was one of the "most shocking and horrific cases I have dealt with in my career".
Following an eight-week trial a jury spent about 14 hours considering the verdicts before returning to court.
Varley was found guilty of murder, two counts of assault by penetration, five counts of cruelty to a child, grievous bodily harm, sexual assault of a child, 13 counts of taking indecent photos or videos of a child, one of distributing an indecent photo of a child, to his co-accused, and one of making an indecent photo.
McGowan-Fazakerley was found guilty of allowing the death of a child, two counts of child cruelty and one count of the sexual assault of a child.
'Heart-wrenching'
A spokesperson for Oldham Council said: "The death of any child is a tragedy, but this is a particularly heart-wrenching and disturbing case.
"We are thankful that the perpetrators of the sickening murder and abuse of an innocent child have today been convicted for their crimes."
They said an independent Child Safeguarding Practice Review was already under way, which would examine the handling of Preston's safeguarding.
"Our thoughts remain with Preston's family, loved ones, and the many people affected by this case."
Regional adoption agency, Adoption Now, said it was a "deeply upsetting case, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by these truly awful crimes".
It said it followed "a strict and rigorous process... in the assessment and approval of adopters".
"An independent Child Safeguarding Practice Review is being completed."
Both defendants will be sentenced on Thursday by Mr Justice Turner.
He thanked jurors and told them, "bearing in mind what we have called upon you to do", they would be exempt from jury service for life.

Tell him. mayDtolu: Guys I need advice on this matter.
There is this girl I know very well. We were very close before and we had casual relationship.( Just sex and no dating) but During that time, I also had something with two of her friends she introduced to me.
At that time I didn’t really think much about it because it was all casual but I won’t lie, she’s a very attractive lady and one of the sweetest people I’ve ever been with. We got along really well, and I enjoyed her company.
But later I started noticing her lifestyle and the kind of things she does, and I began to feel she is into runs / hookup lifestyle.
I’m not judging her o, but that’s what I observed over time.
Fast forward, I just found out she is engaged to one of my old university friends. The guy even don propose already.
When I saw their pictures I was shocked.
This guy is a very good and calm person because we lived together and I squatted in his place for a semester . That is why this thing is disturbing me.
Part of me feels I should tell him everything I know about her so he can decide with full information. Another part of me feels I should just mind my business and let her past be her past.
What do you guys think? If you were in my shoes, would you tell him or not? |

I assure you something was gained. The war was simply a distraction, a sleigh of hand. josielewa: ATIMES I ASK MYSELF THE REASON FOR THIS WAR. THERE WAS NO NUKE BEFORE THE WAR, STRAIT OF HORMUZ HAS BEEN OPEN SINCE AGES.
THIS IS A SENSELESS WAR WITH NO AMBITION OR OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED, JUST DESTRUCTION. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE WAR IS TO STOP IRAN FROM HAVING NUKES, THEY CLAIM IRAN HAS ENRICHED URANIUM. LAST YEAR JULY, A B2 BOMBER BLEW THE SITE OF THE URANIUM ENRICHMENT WITH TRUMP CLAIMING THAT ALL IRAN NUCLEAR POSSIBILITIES HAS BEEN DESTROYED.
FAST FORWARD TO THIS YEAR, ITS BEEN ENDLESS BOMBING WITH THE DEATH FROM THE BOMBING OF 140+ CHILDREN IN A SCHOOL. WHAT HAS AMERICA ACHIEVED, JUST DESTROY THE IRANIAN ECONOMY, WASTED AMMUNITIONS AND MONEY ON A SENSELESS WAR WITH NO AMBITION. IT HAS NOT EVEN BEEN VERIFIED IF AMERICA TRULY DESTROYED IRANIAN ENRICHMENTS. AMERICA WASTED MONEY AND AMMUNITIONS WHILE IRAN LOST A LARGE CHUNK OF WEAPONS,MONEY AND ECONOMY. NO OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED AT ALL.
THIS WILL STAY COOL FOR A WHILE, UNTIL ISRAEL WILL RAISE ANOTHER ALARM THAT IRAN HAS 50 NUCLEAR WEAPONS. SAME TRICK USED IN IRAQ IN 2003. I ASK MYSELF IF THERE ARE OTHER SINISTER MOTIVES FOR THESE UNNECESSARY WARS WITH NO CLEAR OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED. |

Key statement, "I've told you..."
[quote author=EmmyMaestro post=139683606]"I have right to my privacy" — Man sends back girlfriend for visiting unannounced
A man has sent back his girlfriend after she arrived at his home unannounced, insisting that she should always seek permission before visiting.
The incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows the man standing at his doorway while exchanging words with the woman, who is off camera at the time of recording. The disagreement quickly escalated over her unexpected visit.
Dispute over unplanned visit In the video, the man appeared visibly irritated as he asked the woman to return home. He reminded her that he had previously warned her not to show up without calling ahead.
“You go back, I’ve told you, you don’t come to my house uninvited. Go back. When you get home, call me and ask if I am at home and if you can come. The fact that we are dating does not mean you can just come to my house. I have the right to my privacy,” he said.
Accusations and suspicion The woman, reacting from behind the camera’s view, questioned why she could not freely visit her boyfriend without prior notice.
She expressed frustration and accused him of possibly hiding another woman in the house.
In response, the man allowed her inside to check the house herself. She reportedly inspected different parts of the apartment but did not find anyone.
Final disagreement and departure After the search, the woman insisted on staying, but the man refused and maintained that she must leave. He repeated his earlier position that she should always call before visiting.
The disagreement ended with the woman leaving the house after being asked to contact him properly before any future visit.

Family › Re: Social Media Is Quietly Becoming The Third Person In Many Marriages by GodHimself(m): 12:34pm On Jun 10 |
People have intentionally and unintentionally outsourced their thinking to Social media. Dpsychologist: SOCIAL MEDIA IS QUIETLY BECOMING THE THIRD PERSON IN MANY MARRIAGES
One thing that genuinely worries me about this generation is how comfortable many people have become with exposing the most private parts of their relationships to complete strangers on the internet.
A husband and wife have a disagreement in the morning. Before they have even had the chance to sit down, calm down and discuss what happened, screenshots have already been uploaded, videos have been recorded, status updates have been posted, and thousands of people who know absolutely nothing about the relationship have been invited to judge, condemn and take sides.
What happened to resolving issues within the home first?
What happened to sitting down with the person you chose to spend your life with and having the difficult conversations that every marriage eventually requires?
What happened to protecting the dignity of your spouse even when you are angry with them?
What many people fail to understand is that social media is not a counselling centre. It is not a court of justice. It is not a place where people genuinely care about your marriage more than you do.
Most people following these stories are not emotionally invested in your happiness. They are entertained by the drama. They will leave comments, pick sides, throw insults, create assumptions, laugh at your pain, and then move on to the next trending topic as if your marriage never existed.
The sad reality is that many people no longer go online looking for solutions. They go online looking for validation. They are not asking, "How can we fix this?" They are asking, "Who can help me prove that I am right and my spouse is wrong?"
Once the comment section starts rolling in, objectivity disappears.
One group begins calling the husband toxic, wicked, useless and abusive.
Another group begins calling the wife disrespectful, manipulative and attention seeking.
Within a few hours, thousands of strangers have formed opinions about people they have never met based on a story they have only heard from one side.
What is even more concerning is how many people automatically assume that every story posted online is the complete truth. Life does not work that way. Relationships do not work that way. Most conflicts have context. Most arguments have history. Most reactions are connected to things that happened long before the camera was switched on.
When someone uploads a thirty second clip or writes a short paragraph about a disagreement, nobody watching truly knows what happened before that moment. Nobody knows the conversations that took place behind closed doors. Nobody knows the sacrifices both parties have made. Nobody knows the frustrations that may have built up over months or even years.
This is why mature people are always careful before rushing to judgment.
A marriage cannot survive when every misunderstanding becomes public content. Trust slowly disappears. Respect begins to erode. Resentment starts to grow. Before long, the couple is no longer solving problems together. They are performing for an audience.
Marriage was never designed to be governed by likes, shares, comments and reactions from strangers.
The strongest marriages are not necessarily those without disagreements. Every marriage has disagreements. Every marriage has moments of disappointment, frustration and misunderstanding.
The strongest marriages are those where both people understand that protecting the relationship is more important than winning public sympathy.
Not every argument deserves a Facebook post.
Not every disagreement deserves a live video.
Not every mistake deserves a public hearing.
Sometimes the person you should be talking to is not your followers, your online supporters or your comment section.
Sometimes the person you should be talking to is the same person sitting across from you at the dining table.
Because at the end of the day, when the comments stop, when the trends fade away and when the internet moves on to the next controversy, it is still you and your spouse who must live with the consequences.
A marriage that constantly seeks validation from strangers will eventually become a prisoner of strangers' opinions.

Your story is possible. In fact it's easy to believe, doesn't require much of a stretch of imagination. You might also be lying, but I've seen enough "impossible" things like this happen. Kalulu44: Hey hey hey! Was I expecting any of you to believe me, nope. But this is my story and it happened just the way I wrote it. But if you think it's a Nollywood or Bollywood scripted story, then that means I am good in script writing. If you guys don't know, things happen. . Let me tell you another surprising story. There's a guy working as a bus conductor at the park I used to work as a driver back then. This guy has no house, lives with his Oga at his place and sometimes sleep inside their bus. We were all surprise one day, when two expensive cars drove into our park and told us they were looking for so so and so person. The name they called for us wasn't known. Apparently the guy changed his name. . It was when they showed us his picture that we recognize him immediately. By then he and his Oga has loaded and gone. They were told to wait till they comes back from their trip. Before then, the mother who looks exactly like him started telling us how he ran away from home without anybody chasing him away. That it's been long they have been looking for him, until someone told them they have seen him as a bus conductor. The mother told is she wept when she heard it. Ever since then, they have been going from park to park looking for him. . When they eventually return and the boy saw his mother, he wanted to run away but was held back. What is chasing him, nobody can say. His mother called him, Chibuzor what have we done to you that you're running away from us. After every every, he was taking home and the mother dropped some huge amount of money for we drivers to buy drinks. The next time I saw Chibuzor on the road, he was driving his own car. I didn't even see him. He was the one that called out and wave at me smiling. So make una forget things dey happen.
I tell una something wey happen to me and una dey say na lie. Alright no problem, it's not your lie but mine, let's leave it like that 8 |

Crime › Re: How Lagos Big Boy Lifestyle Landed Showtime Flag Football Boss In Trouble by GodHimself(m): 2:34pm On May 31 |
This looks like a sponsored attack. Graficasolution: Fresh details coming out of Lagos social and business circles are now painting a shocking picture of the luxury lifestyle allegedly lived by former Pan African Towers Managing Director, Azeez Olayode Amida, as the controversy surrounding the alleged multi-billion naira scandal continues to grow bigger by the day.
Although the matter before the court centres on allegations of abuse of office and financial misconduct, insiders say what has truly left many people talking is the extravagant lifestyle allegedly funded with company money during his time in office.
Those familiar with the internal investigation claim Amida, who is the promoter of Showtime Flag Football, allegedly lived more like a celebrity than a corporate executive, with a lifestyle built around expensive nightlife, luxury entertainment, premium hospitality and constant social outings.
According to sources, top Lagos clubs, exclusive lounges and high-end restaurants allegedly became regular relaxation spots for the former CEO, with company accounts reportedly footing the bills for costly champagne, premium spirits and VIP packages, all this happening at a time when the company was struggling and investing heavily in its asset base to better serve its customers.
“He loved the soft life,” one insider allegedly revealed. “The board approved N5 million monthly for entertainment and business-related hospitality for the MD and his team, but investigators allegedly discovered that Amida always shot far beyond the approved limits without seeking fresh approvals.”
Documents and receipts allegedly reviewed during the investigation reportedly showed shocking spending patterns. In one particular outing, Amida allegedly spent over N1million in a single night at a Lagos club, with most of the money reportedly used for expensive drinks and premium liquor.
Receipts of some other club and lounge transactions allegedly linked to him and seen by this writer included N960,730, N390,500, N353,500 and N418,500 at different times.
What has also generated even more whispers inside corporate circles is the alleged massage routine. Sources claimed that every Tuesday allegedly became “massage day,” with about N130,000 reportedly spent weekly on therapy sessions charged to company resources without approval.
Within just three months, insiders alleged that the company spent over N1million on massage treatments alone. What reportedly shocked many staff members was that the sessions allegedly took place during official work hours.
“He would simply leave the office during working hours for the massage appointments,” a source claimed. “People inside the company started noticing the pattern because it became very regular.”
The source further claimed that Amida’s flamboyant social lifestyle allegedly extended beyond entertainment bills, adding that his interactions with women also became a talking point within the company's circles.
“There were always women around him during trips and events,” the source alleged. “At some point, people within the company started complaining quietly because it became too visible. He allegedly brought ladies to official functions sometimes, which many people considered inappropriate.”
The insider cited one particular incident during a conference in Kenya that allegedly caused unease among some board members.
“During one conference in Kenya, it was alleged that ladies were flown in from South Africa. Two of them were reportedly brought to one of the official meetings, and some attendees at the event were miffed at the irresponsible behaviour of a top executive. There are evidence of him ordering telephone gadgets from office suppliers for different ladies loaded on the company bill,” the source claimed.
However, all the allegations remain claims contained in internal investigations and court documents, and they have not been proven by any court of law. |
