How sick can a society get if a hungry seven-year-old boy can be burnt to death for allegedly attempting to steal garri from a shop?

According to Information Nigeria, a seven-year-old boy has been burnt to death in the Badagry area of Lagos State for allegedly attempting to steal garri from a trader’s shop.
Though there have been conflicting reports especially concerning the age of the victim or what he actually stole, eyewitnesses say he was caught while trying to break into a shop where food stuff are sold in the early hours of Tuesday, November 15, 2015.
The suspect, it was gathered, was nabbed by some men in the area who descended on him and beat him to a pulp before hanging a tire on his neck and setting him on fire, despite pleas by many to hand him over to the police since he had not actually committed the crime.
This is not the first time suspects have been lynched to death in the most gruesome of manners with the crowd often not wanting to know what offense they committed before killing them.
Some of them have been found to be innocent only after they have been sent to their graves.

A seven-yr-old boy has been killed by a friend of his father's for money ritual.

A man has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his friend's seven-year-old son for money ritual.
The shocking news was disclosed by the spokesman for the Command, DSP Idrissu Kenedy, on Wednesday, November 16,Punch reports.
The suspect identified as Mr Emmanuel Ishaya of Ushata village was arrested after the father of the deceased, Joshua Ebini, filed a report on his son, Isaac Joshua's disappearance on October 10.
Kenedy also revealed that information gotten from the suspect has also led to the arrest of three other suspects, with a fourth accomplice still at large.
Punch reports that the suspects confessed to the crime during the interrogations, each explaining their level of involvement.
The prime suspect, Ishaya, confessed to luring the boy from his father's house on a motorbike to the forest where he killed him using a stick.
According to the reports, Ishaya removed the boy's genitals and right buttock, the parts which were requested by his collaborators.
Kenedy said that the investigation finally revealed that the whole idea was put together by Aderogba Tunde.
Punch reports that Tunde convinced another suspect, Isah Ogah, that his aged father in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, could make money ritual as far as the required body parts were provided.
Kenedy said, “Isah claimed not to be interested in taking human life in order to make money, but contacted Yohanna Ibaku, who brought Emmanuel Ishaya, the prime suspect, into the deal.”
He added that the remains of the deceased have been recovered from where they were dumped and handed over to the family for burial.
The spokesman said that the police are still on the trail of the last suspects and they would all be prosecuted upon the completion of the investigation.

A 63-year-old man and his accomplice have been arrested for allegedly killing his stepdaughter for money ritual purposes.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 63-year-old man, Korede Odubela, for allegedly killing his 16-year-old stepdaughter, Amudat Oshimodi, for ritual purposes,and selling her head for N3,000.
New Telegraph reports that Odubela connived with another suspect, Lekan Lawal, to murder the teenager at Imosan area in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of the state.
While parading the suspects at the State Command Headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta, the State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, said that men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad received information about their activities and swooped on them on Monday, November 7, 2016.
While answering questions from journalists, Odubela said the girl's mother said she should be killed because she was always stealing her mother’s money.
“The mother said we should kill her as a sacrifice for other children she had. She (Oshimodi) normally slept by the outside door.
On that day, around 12 midnight, I invited Lekan Lawal, and he held the girl by the neck and strangled her while I held her legs.
I then sold the head to my son, Seun, who is a herbalist. He gave me a part payment of N3,000."
The CP said that the case was still under investigation, while the corpse of the deceased girl had been deposited at the morgue of the Ijebu Ode General Hospital.

He added that the suspects had been involved in ritual killings and sale of human parts in Ijebu-Ode area before eventually meeting their waterloo.

An eight-man armed robbery gang has reportedly killed a decorated police officer during a shootout.

A celebrated sergeant attached to the Inspector General of Police (IG) Special Intelligence Response Team (SIRT), has been shot and killed on Monday, November 14, in the line of duty.
A gallant police officer celebrated for his feat at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Lagos prior to his transfer to the SIRT in Abuja, the deceased, Felix Igbasan, was reportedly shot during a gun battle with an eight-man armed robbery gang.
According to the reports, Igbasan and his team members were engaged in a shootout with the gang who had reportedly robbed a senior immigration officer in Abuja.
Instablog9ja reports that the robbers were later apprehended with four AK47 rifles recovered.
The team said that Igbasan's contributions in terms of high risk operations in Lagos at SARS and IRT in Abuja, were simply too numerous to mention.

Kufuor was said to have been flown to South Africa for medical attention after complaining of an excruciating pain on his spinal cord.
A former President of Ghana, John Kufuor, has been reported dead.

According to Vanguard which cited New Mail and Reuters, Kufuor died in Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday morning, November 15, following a spinal surgery.

Kufuor was said to have been flown to South Africa for medical attention after complaining of an excruciating pain on his spinal cord.
A team of doctors were said to have conducted a second surgical operation on Mr Kufuor’s spine; but unfortunately, he passed away just after 45 minutes of the Surgery, the report said.

Born John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor on December 8, 1938, he was a retired Ghanaian politician and statesman who served as President of Ghana from 2001 to 2009.

Men naturally want to feel superior to women but some of them fall prey to low self-confidence issues which force them to believe that they are inferior to women.

How wrong I was. Barely six months into the adulterous affair, I got a text message from a man who claimed to be her husband, warning me to stay away from his wife or I would not end up well.
The next time Amaka came, I showed her the message and she confessed that her husband had gone through her messages and found out we were dating. But she assured me that there was nothing to fear as her husband was just blowing hot air.
But not long after that, the man proved himself. It happened when my fiancee who had been in school, came to visit me. When it was time to have sex, I noticed that my manhood refused to get erect no matter what she did to me.
I attributed it to work stress but the next time, it was still the same. I became worried because my manhood had never failed me. Tried as much as we did, it would not get up.

Odekunle was stabbed by a Burundian man, Joe Ndikuriyo at a place called Piper’s Bar and Grill.

Solomon Odekunle, the son of a Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor, has been reported dead following stab wounds he sustained at a bar in Ottawa, Canada.
According to reports, he was stabbed by a Burundian man named Joe Ndikuriyo at Piper’s Bar and Grill.
Odekunle, who gained admission to study Economics in the University of Ottawa in 2012 was stabbed during a brawl between Ndikuriyo and another person.
His sister, Deborah, gave a heartfelt eulogy of her brother whom she apparently had a high regard for.
She wrote, “If I did know it would be your last, I would have given you more than a fist bump. I would have gotten down on my knees and give you the deepest bro-hug.
“If I did know it would be your last, I would have pleaded with the drama leader to allow the rehearsal to linger a little so you and Peter could make us giggle a little more with some frog jump.
“If I did know it would be your last, I would have treasured those great words you shared with me a couple of months ago in the technical department, have them handwritten with the best calligraphic pens, framed and given to you right after doing those frog jumps.
“To the Solomon I saw last week, to the Solomon that finally got his picture taken properly last week, to the Solomon with an intellectual smile and chubby cheeks, to the Solomon his friends described as kind-hearted and meek, see you next.”
According to a report by CBS News, Odekunle was the 17th victim of homicide in Ottawa since the beginning of 2016.

The teenager, who was rescued by NSCDC officials resorted to doing so after losing hope of any life improvement.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) have rescued a pregnant teenager simply known as Deborah, who attempted to kill herself after getting abandoned by her mother.
Deborah, who is a native of Osisioma Local Government Area, Abia State, was found in a forest located in Ossah Mission Hill, Umuahia.
The Nigerian Tribune reported that girl lost parental care when her mother, Mrs Happiness remarried after her father died in 2013.
She abandoned Deborah and her three sisters and went off to live with her new husband.
Walter Akubiro Chika, the NSCDC state commandant confirmed that the teenager was rescued on Friday, November 11, 2016.
“Deborah took in for her boyfriend in the course of their living together, but he denied the pregnancy and pushed her out of the house.
“So having been overwhelmed by her unbearable condition without a helping hand, she resorted to wandering in the street until she made up her mind on committing suicide.
“Fortunately for her, an officer of NSCDC attached to the presiding pastor of Heavenly Jerusalem Assembly Ossah sighted her in the forest and rescued her.
“Efforts made by NSCDC Anti-Child Trafficking Unit to reach the mother of the girl and her boyfriend proved abortive," Chika said.
Members of the public have been urged to provide any help possible to vulnerable people as they could be saving their lives.

Odugbesan-Omede explained that Nigerians and Africans in general had more to benefit from Clinton than from Trump.

The Nigerian community in the U.S. will vote en masse for Democratic party candidate Hillary Clinton ahead of her Republican rival Donald Trump in Tuesday’s presidential election, Mr Michael Adeniyi said.

Adeniyi, who is a former President of a Nigerian U.S.-based group, the Organisation for the Advancement of Nigerians Inc. (OAN Inc.), said this in an interview with a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Richmond, U.S.

“We have a lot of Nigerians who are Republicans and who support Trump but the majority of Nigerians support Clinton.

“Most Nigerians in the Northeast states like New York, New Jersey, California, among others, support Clinton and I see Clinton winning.
“I think she is qualified for the job, being an experienced wife of a former governor and wife of the president when her husband was president and she was actually involved.

“She was a senator and secretary of state. So, she has learnt the ropes and you can’t compare her against someone who is not experienced,” he said.

The ex-leader said Nigeria and Africa should expect to benefit a lot from a Clinton’s presidency, considering her involvement with issues that concern Africa.

He said “As secretary of state, Clinton visited many countries in Africa; she understands what goes on in the continent and in her capacity, dealt with those issues.

“You can’t compare her with somebody who does not have any affiliation with Africa. I don’t think Trump has ever been to Africa or even knows anything about Africa.”

According to him, the only link he thinks the Republican candidate had about Africa was when his sons went for shooting game on the continent.
“I will bet my money on someone (Clinton) who has got the experience,” Adeniyi declared.
Prof. Olusoji Akomolafe, a professor of Political Science at the Norfolk State University, also told NAN that Clinton would win, from political point and his personal views.

“If you have to go by the polls it can be deceptive but Clinton is going to win all the Blue states including Michigan, that President Barack Obama won, but excluding Ohio.

“As far as the margin is concerned, it is not going to be that too significant,” Akomolafe said.
The don explained that the American electorate was very unpredictable saying that it could have an opinion on Monday but by the time it is Friday, it has hd an entirely different one.

He also said that the reason an average American would give for not voting for Clinton would be as a result of the email scandal.
“But that cannot compare to the lies that the other candidate has made.

“I project with confidence that Clinton will win the election on Tuesday,” the professor of political science declared.
He added: “The Electoral College will be far apart but popular vote will be close.”

Prof. Yetunde Odugbesan-Omede, a professor of Global Affairs and Political Science, at Rutgers University and Farmingdale State College, said most Nigerians and Africans in Diaspora would elect Clinton.

“Nigerians in Diaspora and Africans will be voting for Clinton. We have some minority who will vote for Trump but over 90 per cent majority will vote for Clinton.
“We have over three million Africans in Diaspora who have pledged to vote for Clinton,” she said.
The don also said that Clinton had a better chance to win the election above Trump.

“I am heavily involved in the campaign as a Hillary supporter. Clinton has higher chance of winning this election.
“She is projected to win in a lot of states and right now, she still has four-point edge over Trump. We believe her 47 per cent to Trump’s 43 per cent will make her win.

“Clinton is projected to win 322 Electoral College votes. Right now, she has 239 Electoral College and Trump has 161,” she said.
Odugbesan-Omede explained that Nigerians and Africans in general had more to benefit from Clinton than from Trump.
“Trump’s stance on migration, how he feels about African, Latinos, Muslims and other minority is bad.

“Clinton is going to follow the legacy of Obama; we have so much to gain from Clinton than Trump who is going to change everything Obama has achieved.

“So Clinton’s presidency will have a lot of impacts on Nigerians, both the documented and the undocumented and also on African-Americans,” she said.
NAN reports that U.S. president is elected by Electoral College made up of 538 electors as against popular vote and to be elected president, a candidate must win 50 per cent plus one (51 per cent) electoral vote.

Each of the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, has a certain number of Electoral College votes to award a candidate, based on the number of members of Congress it has.

This is also in line with each area’s population and the votes are given on a winner-takes-all basis, except in Maine and Nebraska.
In 2008, President Barack Obama won 53 per cent of the vote but got 68 per cent of the Electoral College vote.

Banire said the N500,000 in question was a gift he gave Justice J. T. Agbadu-Fishim when he lost his mother.
Dr Muiz Adeyemi Banire (SAN) has stepped down as the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following an allegation that he bribed a judge with N500,000.
In a letter to the APC Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Monday, November 7, Banire said he decided to step down on moral grounds until the investigation into the allegation is concluded.
The senior lawyer also wrote to the Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN) about his decision to quit his membership of the Electoral Reform Committee.
Banire’s letter is entitled: 'Offer to Step Aside as National Legal Adviser Pending Conclusion of Investigation of My Person by the EFCC.'
He copied President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN).
Banire said he read an online publication on October 29 alleging that he offered a federal judge N500,000 bribe.
According to him, he voluntarily reported himself to the EFCC to help clarify the issues.
The letter reads:
"The allegation, as I have come to understand it, is that a Statement of Account of one judge of the National Industrial Court, the Honourable Justice J. T. Agbadu-Fishim, who is the subject of an ongoing EFCC’s investigation, contained a June 2013 entry of a ‘N500,000.00’ payment ascribed as being from one ‘Dr. Muiz B’.
"I did not hesitate in confirming that this probably referred to me because I remember that about three years ago, I received a text message from someone I recollected at the time to be an old colleague in my days as a lecturer at the University of Lagos, an ‘Agbadu-Fishim’ who was then a Research Fellow at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, informing me of the death and funeral programme of his mother.
"The last contact (of any sort) I had with this person before that text would have been about 14 years earlier, that is, before I was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State at the inception of civil rule in 1999 (now 17 years ago).
"Indeed, it was with considerable difficulty that I was able to eventually recognise his face when I eventually saw him again (after 17 years of my leaving the University of Lagos) on my attendance at the EFCC on Thursday the 3rd day of November, 2016.

A member of the House of representatives from Benue state has said his suspended colleague, Abdulmumin Jibrin is on the run because the anti-corruption agencies are closing in on him.

Jibrin was suspended over the allegations of corruption he levelled against the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and other principal officers of the House.

He is currently in London where he was honoured with an award and has vowed not to return to Nigeria until his safety is guaranteed.
But Hembe said Jibrin fled to London to avoid prosecution.

"My attention has been drawn to a statement issued by the suspended member Abdulmumin Jibrin who has fled to United Kingdom," Hembe said in a statement issued on Monday, November 7.

"Jibrin’s allegation that his life is under threat is laughable and foolish. I understand that the anti-graft agencies are closing in on him with their investigation into his past deeds.


"He might have got the hint of his possible and prosecution and decided to flee while raising false alarm.

"May I remind him that no matter where he goes justice will surely catch up with him as there is no hiding place for criminals in our today’s world," he added.

However, in an interview with London's Ben TV on Monday, Jibrin had claimed that he left Nigeria because of threats he has been receiving from colleagues he accused of corruption.
He also berated President Muhammadu Buhari for his silence on the budget padding scandal that has rocked the lower chamber for months.

NAF spokesman said the attack, which started at about 5pm, lasted till 7:15pm - with the terrorists subdued.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter aircraft has repelled a fresh Boko Haram attack in Kangarwa, Borno State, the Army said.

Famuyiwa said while the fighter aircraft scrambled to repel the attack, the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft was deployed to give guidance to ground troops.

He said the operation, which started at about 5pm, continued till about 7:15pm before the terrorists were subdued.

Famuyiwa also said NAF had conducted a number of day and night operations on Sunday, adding that the air interdiction missions were aimed at decimating the operational capability of the insurgents.

This is coming few days after Buhari's meeting with Niger Delta elders on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

The Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM) has threatened to blow up more crude oil facilities in the Niger Delta.
The militant group also claimed responsibility for the destruction of the Trans-Forcados Crude Export pipelines in Warri South-West Council Area of Delta State.

The NGDJM described the meeting of the Niger Delta elders as a humiliation of the people of the oil rich region, and also said that they are ready to go to war.

This is following an announcement by the Minister of state for petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, that Nigeria’s crude oil production has increased.
The militant group also accused President Buhari of planning a full scale war against the Niger Delta people.

The NDGJM, in a statement signed by its spokesman, Aldo Agbalaja, said “As a matter of fact, what the Avengers did to the oil industry will be nothing compared to the grand plan already set by our central command. We shall bring Nigeria’s daily output quota to below 500,000 barrels. Just be ready for the approaching tsunami.

“The multinational oil companies, we know you are recalcitrant and will always come to test wills, we hope you will continue in this tradition so there will always be reason to let the world know that ‘you don’t contest the corners of a house with the owner of the house.’

“The destruction of the Trans-Forcados Pipeline is just a warning. We warned against the restarting of the facility, but the daring companies won’t listen. That shadow operation that brought the TFP down was only meant to let these companies know that we aren’t kidding with them; when we say stay down, you stay down, and it’s in your best interest.

The humiliation that came with the meeting of the elders with President Muhammadu Buhari did not come to the NDGJM as a surprise. We expected it because we know even the government knows the character and intent of the man and most of those he led to the meeting.
“The only painful part is the fact that the humiliation is stamped on the collective image of our people. However, we want to dare President Buhari and his administration to attempt or fully carry out his military action against our people and see the response that will follow.

“We want to say here, without mincing words, that we are aware of his intentions. We heard loud and clear his hostile message, we understand his message and the NDGJM is saying we are ready for him. We know he has reportedly threatened war on our people; we had been calm enough not to respond to the threats, but at this point, we believe it is time for us to come out to say to him ‘enough is enough.’

“If it is war, bring it on, we are no cowards, just be sure you can sustain the consequences because this is not going to be another vanquished ‘Biafran Uprising’. Niger Deltans are nobody’s slaves; we shall fight until there’s nothing left to defend.”

Reports say other militant groups in the Niger Delta have also complained that their interests were not fully articulated by the elders during the meeting with Buhari.

The Niger Delta Peoples Democratic Front (NPDF) leader, General Playboy, has called on the Federal Government to drop charges against Tompolo, Henry Okah and Charles Okah.

Tompolo was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraud amounting to billions of Naira.
The Okah brothers on the other hand, were accused of plotting the Independence Day bombing of October 1, 2010, in Abuja.

Playboy, who dissociated himself from the meeting between President Buhari and elders from the Niger Delta, said the elders went there to pursue their own greedy agenda.

The militant leader also called for the release of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Playboy said “The stakeholders are talking about negotiation. They are talking about $10bn for Niger Delta people; they (stakeholders) are thinking about oil blocs that will be released to Niger Delta people and how they will share it among themselves. That is the only thing they are thinking of.

“They have refused to talk about the fact that there is a matter against Tompolo that should be dropped. None of the stakeholders is thinking about others; they are only thinking of themselves. But it will not work as far as I am concerned except President Buhari comes down here to know the problem of the Niger Delta. That is when Nigeria will have peace. If not, there will be no peace. We are not interested in what the stakeholders went to do in Abuja.’’

The militant leader stated that a situation where ex-agitators like Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo, Boyloaf and Soboma Jackrich (Egberipapa) were not part of the stakeholders’ meeting, was an indication that government was not ready for peace.

“Any meeting geared towards peace without protecting Tompolo’s interest will fail. Tompolo himself cannot come out to negotiate his freedom. As far as we are concerned, Tompolo’s case needs a political resolution, just like that of Henry Okah and Charles Okah.

“These are forces in the region that should not be undermined. We want the Federal Government as part of the dialogue process to get a legal framework to free Okah and let Tompolo have peace otherwise peace will continue to elude the region, and oil pipelines will be blown off continuously to protest their persecution.”

The EFCC has confirmed the release of Reuben Abati, the ex-Presidential spokesman.

Former Presidential Spokesperson, Reuben Abati has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), its Spokesperson, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed on Saturday.

Uwujaren told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan was released to a surety without further conditions.

An online medium, PREMIUM TIMES, had earlier reported that Abati confirmed his own release on Saturday morning and was “putting up somewhere in Abuja.

The ex-presidential aide turned himself to the EFCC on Oct. 21 after he was accused of receiving N50 million from detained former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki.

A total of 13 people have died in a fire and boat mishap that occured in Niger State of Saturday, November 5, 2016.

A total of seven people have died in a boat mishap on River Gbako in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State on Friday, an official of the state emergency agency said.
Similarly, six people also died when fuel laden tankers collided in Mokwa.
Malam Ahmed Inga, Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency told newsmen in Minna on Saturday that four women and three children drowned when the boat they were travelling in capsised.

He explained that the boat was conveying 10 female farmers from Balsa community to a rice farm across the river.
Inga said that three women were rescued by local divers after the accident, which occurred at about 11 am.
“Yabagi Ibrahim, the owner of the farm lost a wife, a daughter and granddaughter in the unfortunate incident,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Gbako river is located on the border between Katcha and Lavun local government area of the state.

Similarly, six people also died when fuel laden tankers caused multiple accidents in Mokwa, the headquarters of Mokwa Local Government area of the state.
The director general said that two petrol tankers were invoolved in the accident which occurred on Friday due to break failure.

“It was said to have hit the one in front, which veered off the road and rammed against the wall of a guest house in the town,” he said.

He said that the tanker with the failed break also hit another one parked with the product by the side of the road, causing an explosion and fire.
Inga said many people sustained injuries, with two in critical condition and receiving treatment at Mokwa General Hospital.

Speaker Dogara stated this at a dinner to mark the 10th anniversary of Sultan Abubakar on the throne.



Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the House of Representatives says the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III has worked to sustain Nigeria's democracy than some politicians.

Speaker Dogara stated this at a dinner to mark the 10th anniversary of Sultan Abubakar on the throne.

" I want to say without fear of contradiction that his eminence is a man of peace and this should he showed in our region and indeed the country at large," the Speaker said.

"He (Sultan) has traversed communities, chaired sessions talking about how to improve the living condition of our people; how to engender peace and religious harmony in the nation."

"The Sultan has done all these in the last 10 years and we know that democracy itself abhors violence. Without peace, there is no way we can enjoy the benefit of democracy."

"As a royal father, he has done the work of democracy perhaps more than some of us that claim to be politicians ."

"To his singular credit, we have noticed a remarkable progress in this part of our country where the menace of religious crisis has to be degraded," he added.

He urged both traditional and political leaders to emulate the exemplary life of the Sultan who has worked tirelessly to build bridges of friendship across the diverse peoples of the north and Nigeria at large.
