Since both the left and the right have big issues as you just admitted, then, what should be a common denominator based on which to judge them? The answer is the 'ECONOMY'. Despite Trump's character, the US economy did very well under him, and it wasn't unrelated to his tough stance against immigrants from poor/Islamic countries who constitute economic minus in many ways. For instance, terrorist attacks in the US (including school shootings) is being traced to the presence of jihad-minded immigrants accepted into the country over the decades.

If you are the one that suffered to build such a country, what would be your first priority regarding it? Isn't it how to protect it from getting destroyed while building more upon what you have?
