mandarin:If you still don't believe this.....and u don't mind being stalkerish, simply go to Workforce.....on Tues and We'd btw 12-4pm.....then you will see guys that have made it to the finals (if dem use mopol bounce u, no mention Goodgrace). |
mandarin:Lolzzzzz! Trust me emails have been sent to successful candidates. About 2 people per role proceeded to this final stage. The news on this process will become thinner, as fewer candidates progress. Now I am not sure how batches would be treated going forward...... Will CPFA consider guys that they are yet to talk to if they are not satisfied with finalists or would they prefer to still consider a few guys that made it to the first stage but did not get to the final stage. Fingers crossed. Keep praying. |
Mathad:Cool. Hope you are also worth waiting for..... Extremely gifted, a unicorn in your discipline. |
mcthewills:It has been sent to everyone that made it to the final stage. Scheduled a test day for Workforce next week and another session with CPFA the week after the next. |
mcthewills:Yes! |
mcthewills:really? That's interesting! Keep hope alive. |
@Mcthewills: if you do not want to talk further...no wahala. |
mcthewills:For what role? |
@MrSanity, you are funny. Baba.. u dey fall my hand! For an investment analyst, I no expect your deduction to be better nah.... 1) how many people are active on this forum? 10 or 12? How many people are likely to be in the first batch 25-30? How many people participated in the process? Over 1,000. So the probability that someone who was called is active on Nairaland is ca. (0.015*0.03). 2) People are quite guarded with roles like this! This is not a graduate role o. Guys keep quiet all the way till they get the job! If you are ahead in the process, you gain nothing by louding it here.... 3) Very smart guys won't say a word sef! They are aware that people who participate in the later stages are at an advantage! So you are best served not talking (I know of two friends involved in this process... One asked the other for information on the process, and the friend responded saying "I can't remember" standard and smart answer!) And before you say there is croynism, I would ask if you do have 10years experience with a private equity, infrastructure or real estate fund? @People were further separated into batches.... If you finished with a first class from a federal uni and had a good performance at the tests CBI and technicals, you obviously stood a good chance to be in the first batch. Now CPFA would go through the first batch to pick a candidate before considering the second batch! So do not expect any communication from the company for the next 2-3weeks. @Mcthewills: bro how can you expect a call for the final stage, when they did not even call you for the first stage? Or did you attend the first panel interview at CPFA last week? So your prayers would be 1) that CPFA does not like anyone before your batch 2) that your batch comes up quickly 3) that you blow them off when they see you. |
mcthewills:Yes! |
@All: Some news...…. CPFA has started scheduling guys for the final stages. Personality test at workforce and final interview at Total. It may be advisable to take your mind off the process at this point. |
Another thing you should consider is that we are in June! Recruitments that involve panels are usually slow in June! You want a 4-man panel to see peeps, but one oga is out for summer this week, another one is out next week.... Or you think they won't go on holidays because you want to join the company? Haba na! So there is reasonable quiet on the process. |
Relax @ everyone. This phase happens to everyone. Think about every time you were applying for a job, you believe that they should respond to you asap, right? This is not the case in reality. Now when you get into the company, you see how they approach recruitment... usually at snail speed, because they have other things on their plate. Don't forget that there is work in CPFA as well! This process should not take up to 10% of executive time (even HR has other things on their plate!). So these are the issues: 1) Long list of holidays 2) Getting the panel set up-not an easy process 3) Selecting the guys for the next stage is also not easy. My advice still stands! Keep praying! @MrSanity: you are a funny dude! You seem to operate in extremes. |
Ykman:At this rate, I would assume they have called about 3-5 persons for each role. I would simply make up my mind to prepare like it was a life exam, and go give it my best shot! Can only pray and prepare at this point, any other thing is useless. |
Mathad:That's the spirit! The koko is to prepare. They had only 3guys come in today. |
@Mathad: btw just confirmed that some risk analysts were at CPFA today. |
Mathad:Mr Mathad....I keep seeing your PMs .... Please relax, I don't think they have reached out to risk analysts (don't have a view of the process). Go and eat, relax and sleep. Don't lose your current job or state of mind, whilst pursuing this opportunity. But let's for a second assume that they have reached out to other guys, what you should spend time doing is preparing for your opportunity. The people before you in this process have the burden to impress. However, if you are coming later in the day... all you need to do is enchant! Even if you were in the first bucket/batch, it doesn't mean you are top of the list! So do what you can to enchant! Prepare your shot! You can't be too equipped for this opportunity. Gather all the arrows you have on your way! When you have your chance, your output should be enough to cast a spell on the interviewers. The challenge for coming later in the day is you must enchant! The advantage is that it has recency effect! So guy go and prepare! ugonchukwudi:I sincerely hope this isn't directed at me! I have only shared safe and true information on this platform. Good to see that most people can now see that I was indeed correct when I said there were interviews last week Monday. |
Mathad: nickae:Lolzzzzz! Quite a number of roles are yet to be attended to for now! As far I know, only two roles have had some interview days..... Keep the faith! There is an advantage in being on the waitlist! In fact the advantages are enormous. Think about how you selected a spouse.... Sure most of us looked down at the first guy or lady we came across. In fact being first in line places on you the burden of heavy expectations! You have got to be very great for interviewers to remember you after talking to 10candidates. Most times during this processes, expectations are high at early stages, then recalibrated later in the day! The only thing is you have got to be prepared if you are going later on in the process! Let your performance dazzle the members of the panel in such a way that people ask why you were not presented earlier in the process. Each bucket has its own burden. |
mcthewills:CPFA's pay is not on the same scale as E&P's. People in CPFA have been clamouring for years to make them same. However, there is a high probability that it may be higher than what you are currently taking. So it may not be Eldorado, but it is in the right direction. Bear in mind that not so many places in Nigeria offer the environment and work conditions that you are likely to get at CPFA. |
nickae:In an earlier post with MrSanity, I addressed this personality test thing! This is not a Biggie, as they may ask the psychologist to meet with u or even ask you to take the test on the day of the interview. This test should not take more than 10-20minutes of your time, and does not require practice. |
So Workforce has done a 'technical' interview, but trust me the Total panel would be more relevant and broad as well. The panel would have HR, CIO, Legal and Risk managers. So they may each get to ask you a question and assess your technical competence, ethics and others. To practice for the Total panel interview, I would advice that you go to threads on Total E&P recruitment. Trust me the format would be the same! |
mcthewills:Too many mixed signals.... 1. There is talk of the invitation being in batches... So they invited some people earlier in the day, then invited a few more in the evening. 2. Don't know criteria for who goes first, as a number of guys that were bounced and readmitted got into the next stage. 3. The technical bit seems to have played a huge role, and a few investment analysts have been saying they are not too sure of the competence of the assessor.... (They say he seemed lost on some answers). 4. They interviewed 2 IT guys last week---- this is solid intel! In fact some of the contract staff in Total CPFA's office that applied for the same role were shocked when these guys came in for the interview.... However, if you are yet to be invited, you are still in the race for the prize, and trust me this may be to your advantage! Affords you the opportunity to be better prepared! Now I am not sure of Workforce's process, but they may just be putting across candidates according to the level of previous performance... I don't think the Panel would be patient enough to see everyone SHA. Especially, as they are saying first and second panels...... But keep hope alive and keep praying. |
ugonchukwudi:You are welcome. Note that the invites that I can verify so far are for investment analyst roles. Interviews have been scheduled for Tuesday. |
ugonchukwudi:First panel interview with Total CPFA. |
......and new mails have started landing. Congrats to everyone who is going to the next stage. |
Nigerians need to be better educated. Let's assume that there is a case of $25k involving Gbaja and someone else in the US. Has he been convicted? No! Is the client a party to this suit? Another no! So on what grounds is he to be disqualified? The first step is that the client in question needs to seek legal redress and explore options in Nigeria. What's the locus standi of the people seeking to disqualify him? Are they beneficiaries to the estate of the client? It appears that this is not the case! What a waste of judicial time. That being said, I could not care less for his person or his ambitions. |
@ MrSanity to even prove that your hypothesis is false, are you aware that they asked some of the guys that were screened earlier to come for the technical test last week? Maybe not, and it wasn't on this forum. My hypothesis is that after the technical tests for some roles, they did not have enough people to go to the panel interview and form a good wait list. Trust me that technical interview is the Koko! If the lady doing technicals says you are very strong, you are very likely to get a place in front of the panel even if you did not do too well on behaviourals (note too well). My advice to myself is too keep looking to God, because a lot of variables are in place to determine who braces the tape. |
@ Mr Sanity: Personality test is not meant to be a hurdle. It is to understand you better.... In fact the way they do it for Total staff is for you to meet with a psychologist on the day of the panel interview. So they could have contacted anyone last week Wednesday to do a personality test before Friday and also get ready for an interview the following Monday (trust me they can). To your second hypothesis that this is a large enough pool for us to know if someone was contacted or not, I would like to beg to differ. This is akin to saying that one of must get an offer, which is also a mathematical fallacy! Let's play the numbers a little, let's say the invite was for SIA or Law or IT. Law had about 130 candidates for a start, SiA about 125 and IT had 250 candidates. Bear in mind that this position is for only one. How many people do you think Workforce would send to Total? I would say 5-8 for each role (this is at most - for panel interviews success rate should be 25%). Now about 30% of initial candidates scaled the first hurdle. If you were observant, you would discover that they batched candidates according to performance on the apptitude test. Don't think the listing was random! Hence, the reason they screened later candidates from participating in the technical tests! It was a case of if you were weak on the apptitude test and you are weak on the competency test, no need proceeding to the Technical test! Now that you have considered all these, do you think that this group of less than 15 active participanns is large enough to be a determinant of when people get to the last stage? The screen rate is expected to be around 80% between the last stage and proceeding to Total CPFA. I wish everyone good luck. |
@MrSanity These things are not mutually exclusive! The honest truth is that people went to CPFA yesterday for interviews! Bear in mind this may be for just a role. The fact that a recruiter says he would get back to you doesn't mean he hasn't contacted others. The way I expect Workforce to run this going forward is to get in touch with top tier candidates to proceed to the next stage, whilst they waitlist others. Second-tier candidates would only proceed to the next stage of Total CPFA is not satisfied with any of the top tier candidates. Once CPFA selects a candidate, Workforce gets in touch with others to communicate that they would not be proceeding to the next stage. So Mr. Ciwi was not lying, you only need to feel the other parts of the Elephant.... But I guess the mind reads what it wishes to see. |
MRSANITY:Hello! Guess you were the investment guy from AIICO. Bros you said they invited you for 10:30am on Monday... They started interviews for investment people by 1:00pm, and lawyers for 10:00am. However, I get your point that everyone was delayed due to poor organisation. |
mcthewills:Not necessarily! First off, I think this set is in batches, so they may be reaching out to lawyers or IT guys for now. Lastly, they would not be sending a long list to Total CPFA, not at all! Workforce's task is to weed out as many people as possible. If you get to the last stage, Workforce is essentially saying you are fit for the role. The last stage is to determine culture fit and perhaps management may prefer some idiosyncrasies.... so don't expect to hear anything. From this stage onwards, it gets quieter.... also bear in mind that this is for experienced hires, so most people would be quite discreet. |
ciwi:This is actually true! Some people went to Total CPFA for interviews today! Tried reaching Rita, but could not get through. |
