The Ijebu Army controlled everything North and East of Lekki and the Oyo Army of Alaafin controlled Badagry Area and all the
way to Porto Novo

That was how the British Colonial Government met things on Ground when they arrived in 1851

Ijebu Egba and Oyo had spent almost a Century fightIng over the Lagos Coast and it had ended in a 3 way Draw

The Egbas also took Iddo Island and Could have taken Lagos Island but decided it would cost them too many men to
Capture Lagos Island because of the Sea Warfare that would have been necessary


It in the End it was the Egba Christians who Brought the British into the Conflict as allies of the Egbas
