PoliticsRe: 10 Major Takeaways From Tinubu’s 64th Independence Anniversary Speech by gotnel: 3:13pm On Oct 01, 2024
Nigeria is a very great country that have been in the hands of clueless leaders.
This reforms under the Tinubu administration can not help Nigeria and Nigerians.
Tinubu reforms are tailored to favour world Bank and imf, not the people of Nigeria.
Tinubu independent day speech is additional pain to the people of Nigeria..
He is just repeating himself on why the suffering in the land must continue.
We were told that crude for naira will start today, October 1.
A policy that will help make naira very better than it is now
Our president did not even mention anything about it.
We all know that his statement on the issue of petroleum products prices would have become a policy statement.
However, the man did not see reason to talk about it.
Tinubu is much more favourable to the imf and world Bank than the people of Nigeria.
God help us

BusinessRe: The Unique Story Of Wema Bank; The Oldest Nigerian Indigenous Bank by gotnel: 5:30pm On Sep 27, 2024
brain54:
Oldest bank in Nigeria is first bank...

Oldest indegenous is wema.

Wema bank was the first commercial bank account I operated(my first ever was a micro finance bank)

It was my school account.

I hated the bank so much because of their archaic ways of transaction.

I later abandoned the account when other new generation banks started coming to the vicinity of my school. I still have some money abandoned in that account sef, although not much. (maybe one day I will walk in and request to close the account. Even though I can't remember the account number again. Maybe the money would have yielded a sizable interest grin. Very unlikely though)

I don't know if they changed or modernized their banking systems. As I can't remember using that bank ever since. But I just have the impression and bias they haven't.

Ironically, I have hardly had any transaction carried out with the bank since then.

And when I pass through any branch the thought that comes to my mind is "people still use this bank"?

I guess they do!
A very good bank.
They are enjoying the old reputation while evolving and matching very well with the latest version of banking technologies.

I am afraid, the mafia in the oil market will not let Nigeria and Nigerians have any sweet moment about petrol.
How are we going to explain the situation now?
Even, the exchange rate of naira to dollar is not reflecting anything about the petrol, aviation fuel and diesel being purchased from Dangote refinery.
At least, there should be a little respite on the exchange front.

PoliticsRe: NNPC, Dangote Eye Crude-Sale, Product Buy-Back Deal by gotnel: 7:09am On Sep 13, 2024
God help us to be able to make headway in this country of ours.
NNPCL and the oil cartels are very much in deep heat of business and they don't care about how their Nigerians feel.
The president and the government are too busy to make changes to the status of how oil business is being run by the greedy cartels.
The first thing to note in all these push and shove between the Dangote refinery and the cartels led by NNPCL is the reason why the government own refineries have not been able to work and why it they will never work.
Unfortunately, Tinubu has already shown that he is incapable to deal with the powerful oil syndicates.
How much time will it take to make decisions for Dangote refinery fuel to be on the streets for Nigeria and Nigerians?
The oil mafias/cartels must be crushed by any means possible to prevent any further harm they are causing the masses.

PoliticsRe: Nobody Is Out To Sabotage Dangote’s Refinery - Dumebi Kachikwu by gotnel: 1:42pm On Aug 14, 2024
9jatriot:
Here we go again. Always trying to make it look as if Dangote held other people's brocus and told them not to invest in the same sector that he is investing in.
As a matter of fact, it has been shown that there is no sector where Dangote is a monopoly. He may have a larger market share but definitely not a monopoly.

If anything, it is even in the refinery that he may even enjoy some sort of monopoly since there are always no one with a working refinery in the country.
To disprove the Kachiukwu guy, why has the federal government own refineries not working up till now, if there are no sabotaged?
Billion of dollars have been spent to bring the refineries up to working conditions.
Promise upon Promise that the refineries will work at certain dates are all empty.
Definitely, the group of people who are addicted to seeing Nigerians and Nigeria importing petroleum products are desperately trying to stop Dangote from refining crude oil to finish petroleum products for Nigerians consumption.
Tinubu government needs to take a decisive action against the selfish business men.

I was optimistic about his ability to govern the country very well.
Not until he started rolling out fluctuating policies.
thing is becoming increasingly difficult for ordinary Nigerians and the president have nothing to do to stop the pain of the people.
Of course things must be tough for us to witness changes in our economy. But Tinubu government has not yet taken any action to show that his administration is different from the previous administrations that brought up the suffering.
Rather than breathing new systems to help make life easier, Tinubu government is making the same mistakes other failed government before his own administration made and even more worse than the previous administrations.

PoliticsRe: Why Fuel Importers Will Frustrate Dangote – Obasanjo by gotnel: 8:31am On Aug 06, 2024
EponObi:
See how Baba Iyabo dey talk like say the rot and mess we are experiencing today didn't start with him.

He's talking about Nigeria putting all her eggs in one basket. Lol. What did he do to diversify our economy as a military head of state and the first and a two-term president after 1999? The man even pushed a third term agenda.

Didn't everyone of them since 1960 abandon agriculture and chase after oil money?

"I believe we made a very, very deadly mistake" - No sir, I believe YOU made a very, very deadly mistake.

When you invited Shell and they told you about the corruption ruining our refineries, sir, what did you do with the power given to you by the people to crush the cabal and rot in our oil industry? You were president for 8 years, what did you do to put the interest of the people as priority? What efforts did you make to change the trajectory of the NNPC for the benefit of the common Nigerians?

What was OBJ's stride in our gas sector? What policies and reforms did he introduce to the gas industry? What were his implementations? Didn't he flare our gas too?

OBJ is saying shit, with all due respect. This is the person some idiots are rallying around because the man they hate so much became president.

Tinubu's bad policies implementions aside, at least for the first time since 1960, we have a brave president who has the political will, muscle, and clout to repurpose our economy. And if he and the APC had allowed GEJ the weakling remove the subsidy in 2011, we would have moved past this pain - Tinubu has a share of this blame too.

There's no going back from here, inshallah. The economy must be rejigged, no matter how pain and strenuous the process may be. History will remember Tinubu for not taking the easy route of padding our economy.

Edit: Some idiots are quoting me to say trash. The truth is bitter, so deal with it. Some were saying shit about good economy under OBJ. Lol, even a retard could run our economy like he did because of the oil boom. Go and check how much Nigeria earned with crude oil sales between 1999 and 2006. Then compare with next successive governments.

The crazy oil money during that time was one of the reason they all abandoned other critical areas of the economy for oil. They took the easy way and we are suffering it today. They didn't foresee that the oil mania will end, or perhaps, they saw but didn't care because they knew they won't be the ones to deal with the problem. Nigerians just don't think, that's the issue. So far any 10 IQ president can subsidize their PMS and dollars, they think all is well and won't give a f*uck about their own future or that of the next generation.

All you want is government handouts in the form subsidies then you later cry that the country is retrogressing in economic and infrastructural development. One idiot even asked me to mention one third world country that isn't subsidizing their citizens. Oponu, must Nigeria remain a third world country for life, even after 60 years since independence? This is the kind of imbeciles that sell all they have and secure loans to japa to sane countries where nothing is free. Ode!

The country using 96% of our revenue to service loan; shouldn't that be a concern for any right thinking citizen? Instead of asking past governments how and why we got to this point, the average Nigeria won't so far you give them subsidies as if they are orphans. And before you say dogshit, OBJ didn't have to borrow because of massive oil revenue. We started borrowing after the oil boom was over. And mind you, we shouldn't have borrowed to the extent where almost all our revenue is used to service loans if OBJ diversified our economy from the start with the massive influx of income Nigeria earned during his time. He should have been the person to lay our economic blueprint and like I've said, he took the easy route and avoided the hard work.

What happens to your business when 100% of the money you make per month is used to repay loans and the situation is even worse that you are still sourcing for more loans to make your business stay afloat? If you can't answer that, keep shut whenever the Nigeria economy is being discussed.

Zero agriculture, terrible gas economy, no other economy sector, zero manufacturing + production just subsidies, vibes and inshallah plus crazy level of importation, and you, OBJ, is now complaining that our youths are redundant. Thunder fire you, sir.
All said and done.
Let Tinubu government take a decisive action on domesticating oil and gas exploration and production.
If we as people of Nigeria can not understand the working environment and be able to provide the technical knowledge to enable us be in control of our natural resources after 60 years, then, we will remain in colonial shackle as we are now.
Tinubu should work on making naira a strong currency.
The floating of naira without a solid policy to back it up is the worst policy that falls Tinubu administration.
Let the economic management team of Tinubu administration take a serious step towards selling crude oil to local refineries in naira.
This policy will help the situation around the country for better.
God help us

Tinubu is the one that allows the people to start the protest by his not having feelings for the masses.
By his not having another alternative to his excruciating policy
