However, the everyday experience of commuters across the country is that there has been no significant drop in transport fares.

The question then is why?

The reasons can be briefly summarized as follows:

* High conversion costs: In spite of the government’s incentives, the high cost of changing to CNG is still a barrier to mass adoption.
* Poor infrastructure: Insufficient CNG stations limits availability mainly to major cities like Abuja/Lagos.
* Low adoption rate: Only a small ratio of commercial vehicles use CNG so there is little impact on fares in general.
* Levies/extortion: Park and union levies plus illegal roadside extortion eat up drivers and owners’ profits from cheaper CNG fuel.
* Naija factor: Commercial drivers and vehicle owners consider the fuel savings as a way to survive general economic hardship, instead of passing on the savings to passengers.

What is the solution?

The solutions become self-evident from the identified causes of the extant high transport fares i.e.

Government needs to significantly lower the cost of CNG conversion, make CNG fueling stations available all over the country, stop illegal levies/extortion, etc.

My little baby was born on 12th May 2026. She's now at that stage where we're trying to teach her how to sit up on her own.

Now, instead of buying one of those expensive baby sitters or chairs, my family decided to go the "creative" route. We got a carton of Indomie noodles — you know, the big one — and we put her inside it. Just like a little nest! 😂

Why we did it:

· The carton provides support around her back and sides
· It keeps her from falling over
· And from my own understanding, she actually enjoys sitting in it! She smiles, plays with her toys, and doesn't cry to come out.

So far, it's working — but I know Nairalanders will have plenty to say! 🤣

· Is this a smart (cost-saving) idea or is it straight-up "village people" parenting?
