Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, gave the Federal and Ekiti State Government 48 hours to release a human rights lawyer, Dr. Dele Farotimi from remand or face mass protests.

Frank who made this call in a statement in reaction to the remand of Farotimi, called on Nigerians to occupy all police stations and formations in the country should the government fail to release the rights activist unconstitutionally within the stipulated time beginning from when he was remanded.

An Ekiti State Chief Magistrates Court, Ado Ekiti Division, had on Wednesday, ordered the remand of Farotimi, in the state’s correctional centre.

Farotimi was arraigned in court over alleged defamation of character following his book, ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’ where he alleged, among others, that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afe Babalola, had compromised the Supreme Court.

However, Frank said there is more to the arrest and remand of Farotimi than the alleged defamation alibi.

He said the remand was a way by the Federal Government to intimidate and harass Farotimi for often criticising the anti-people policies of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He condemned the arrest and remand of Farotimi even as he condemned the police and the judiciary for turning themselves into the oppressive arm of the present administration.

According to him Farotimi doesn’t deserve his current travails because he is a man who believes in and respects the rule of law.

“Farotimi is a man of truth, a man of principle and a defender of democracy. If they believe he has done anything inappropriate, they should have invited him peacefully and he honour their invitation rather than the way he was arrested and subsequently remanded on an alleged offence that is bailable under the Nigerian law.

“This shows clearly that it is not because of the petition from Afe Babalola that is making them to give Farotimi this highly dehumanizing experience. There is more to the arrest because Farotimi is known to be a vocal critic of the government.”

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, called on Nigerians to join in the fight to free Farotimi from remand and equally stop the government from using state institutions to oppress and suppress Nigerians speaking out against their dictatorial and hardship-inducing policies, saying, it is Farotimi today, it may be another Nigerian tomorrow.”

He quoted a German Pastor Martin Niemöller who said: “First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

Developmental planning through cloudy tribal lenses is the only reason NPA (Tinubu) will insist on locating most of our commercial ports in only 1 city.

Earlier today, news of an update regarding David Hundeyin's FOIA disclosure case on Tinubu was published by many news websites. As usual, Nigerians were quick to react to it by posting comments on several social media websites, I was privilaged to engage with several users of this platform on matter and I must say that some of the comments I read were shocking, I felt ashamed reading these comments because it is challenging to believe that educated people will reason or behave the way some users reacted to the issue.... What I learnt from Tinubu's CIA asset scandal is that many Nigerians have no moral compass left in them and will support Tinubu even if a video evidence is presented showing that he shot and killed a child in cold blood. Simply put, many Nigerians are willing to trade their life on the alter of tribalism to ensure that Tinubu remains the president irrespective of whatever evil act he does.....

US intelligence agency's response to the FOIA requests was a damning one that I believe no sane sovereign African country will treat with lavity. The reaction of many Nigerians and the Nigerian government to this issue led to me to my final conclusion that Nigeria is indeed not a sane country because if Nigeria is a sane country, the fact that Tinubu was implicated in a drug related case and has a damning file in the possession of a foreign government should be enough reason to impeach and remove him immediately.... Seeing Nigerians insulting and fighting each other instead of calling for his impeachment today was a shameful sight to behold....

It is hopeless to keep pretending that Nigeria can function as a sane country or attain any meaningful progress when a majority of it's citizens are deeply biased, sentimentally compromised towards holding their government accountable, when a majority of it's citizens are incapable of admitting the truth about a crime committed irrespectful of the tribe of the person involved due to deep rooted tribal hateful sentiments ..... Tinubu's shameful presidency lays credence to the fact that the APC propaganda machine have won and Nigeria's enemies are laughing at Nigerians....

Since majority of the people have become hopelessly lost to tribalism, religious bigotry corruption and dishonesty to the point they can longer tell themselves the truth or reason like normal human beings, Nigerians have only 2 options to choose if they want to salvage what is left of their country.

First option - Weaken the centralized government by decentralizing political and economic power structures to devolve to regions,/states.....

Second option - Divide the country so it's regions can go separate ways....

Anything short of these 2 options is a waste of time... Nigeria's unity is a scam, Nigeria's unity is a mirage..... it's a shame.....
