joeyfire:thanks, that reminds me, i didnt add that too we have names like Abasi while igbos have Obasi |
hmbassey1960:you are talking nonsense and contradicting yourself.I thought you said we dont have anything in common with the igbos? if our ancestors have settled in arochukwu and latter migrated, that means they not only have interacted but also would have learnt and exchanged values and culture You see how foolish you are? Nobody is forcing anybody here i only ask what do i have in common with you dumb benin, itshekiri and urobo people that you come and lump everybody into Nigerdelta gibberish like as if we are one people, culture and nation? |
hmbassey1960:yes the nsibidi was used by igbos, ibibios and efik......we dont have anything in common The picture i posted of former governor akpabio, on a good day if you dont know him and he is dressed like that and that is his traditional dress, where will you think he is from? .....we dont have anything in common The ekpo festival observed in some igbo communities was adopted from the efiks.........we dont have anything in common Abiriba people of abia state share a mixture of igbo and ibibio ancestry same as Arochukwu and Aro ekot ekpene.......we dont have anything in common Whats of religious pilgrimage to Arochukwu(which was like the Jerusalem of the old) observed by ijaw, ibibios, efiks and igbos? ..........we dont have anything in common. and by the way Ibibios are republican and individualistic in nature like the igbos its either you are not ibibio or you are plain ignorant of our history and culture?

Innocent question please to my so called south south people. what is Niger delta, what commonalities does an urhobo, a benin or an itshekiri have with an ibibio, ikwerre, efik or even ogoni over an igbo man, who is not only a direct neighbour but shares cultural similarities... For the records, Abiriba people in Abia state today are a mixture of Ibibio and igbos. Also to note Aro-Ndizuogu in Imo state, Aro-Chukwu in Abia state, Aro-Ikot ekpene in Akwa ibom and Aro-Echie in river state are of the same descendant of the biblical Aroli(younger brother to Eri in Anambra state) who are all the children of Gad who is also the first son of Jacob, that is why you see Arochukwu people and ikot ekpene people wear the same dress and their men tie wrapper. igbos and efiks shared the Nsibiri writings, the ekpo festival in some parts of igbo land originated from the efiks, the igbos, ijaws and ibibios all worship Amadioha and were always going for pilgrimage in Arochuwku all before the white man came and all through our history, there has never been a case of enslavement or fighting rather we traded with our neighbors, lived peacefully and intermarried ourselves. I want someone to tell me something similar that had happened like that in the so called identity crisis suffering Niger delta....An ibibio man jumped over the whole of igboland in southeast all the way down to benin, itshekiri, urhrobo and became Niger delta and one people..yeye dey smell.... I need answers
|
Xway:*blushing*. you cute too. |
koropotopoto:what is the meaning of koropotopoto? |
Curlieweed:lol...ibibio man or nothing. Our men are the most caring men.. |
SlayerForever:you are right,we don't believe in militancy because our people are productively engaged just like the igbos. |
yes na, My dad is the best in the world...every ladies dream. |
Amberon11:they were referred to as people of the riverine areas who live along the delta, it does not inculd the up land niger delta. the main deltans are lowland rivers, bayelsa and lowland delta...those of the up land, edo, anioma, akwa ibom, cross river are not in anyway deltan. we were made deltans because of OIL. |
irahub:that is why i believe its better we start identifying ourselves by ou ethnic groups and stop lumping everybody into Niger delta. Niger delta is not an ethnic group, neither is it one. it is made up of several nations and we are a different at that. most of those who carry that we ND rubbish on their head are usually the down south riverine tribes especially the ijaws and those west of the Niger. Have anyone hear or seen our people carry guns in the name of militancy? we are too busy, educated, hardworking and sophisticated just like the igbos for that. We focus on the real deal to which at the end obong victor attah is the real father of resource control together with ekwueme an igboman who suggested and fought for the 13% derivation we in the Niger delta are enjoying today...that is why i keep telling them, without the igbos , i pity us because we will be worse than the kurds in Iraq. The igbos have always been with us at critical times from resource control to jonathan, i wonder how our people develop short memories these days |
These are some of the similarities between we are the igbos, let someone tell me the similarities between ibibios and urhobo, itshekiri, isoko, bini, afemai, and other western Niger delta. atleast we and the igbos together ran eastern nigeria together as partners.. [quote1. Just like certain Igbo groups salute "Igbo mmammanu", the Annang also have this salutation. The Annang salute: [Name of group]mmamma, Response: yo [Name of group] mma, Response: yo [Name of group] mmalee Response: yooo The Igbo salute: [Name of group] mmammanu Response: ei [Name of group] mmammanu Response: ei [Name of group] mmammanu Response: eeeh 2. The word oyoyo means 'dear' in both the Igbo and Efik languages. 3. Uwa means 'world' in both Igbo and Ibibio-Efik. Igbo would say 'Uwa mu' whereas the Ibibio-Efik would say 'Uwa mi'. 4. Obasi, meaning 'God' in certain Igbo dialects, is a corruption of the Ibibio-Efik Abasi. 5. The Ibibio-Annang masquerade genre known as Ekpo is practiced by Igbo groups in Abia and Imo states. 6. The Ekpe masquerade cult and the Iyamba (women's Ekpe cult) are both practiced by the Efik and certain Igbo groups in Abia and Ebonyi states. 7. Igbo town-naming traditions often place the prefix 'Umu-' before a towns name to denote descent. The Ibibio-Efik peoples also do the same. Their own version is 'Ikot-'. 8. The Efik and Igbo share market days. I'll post the names of the market days when I remember them. 9. Utazi (a vegetable) in Igbo is utasi in Efik. 10. Udele (vulture) in Igbo is utere in Efik. 11. The Igbo and the Ibibio-Annang both use leopard hats as indicators of membership in leopard societies and political cults. 12. The practice of sending an engaged maiden to a fattening house (known in Abia State as 'mgbede'), where she will be well-looked after and prepared for marital life, is observed by both the Igbo and Ibibio-Efik.quote] |
Still on the Niger delta question. I have watched the way many people claiming Niger Deltans have been shouting Nigerdelta republic lately and it makes me laugh at not only our delusion but also at our stupidity as a people. Whether those claiming Niger delta are really Niger deltans or not is not my problem. My problem is the way some people have carried this identity like as it is an identity given to them by God. Am of the opinion that its high time we started answering our ethnic name instead of hiding under the tag Niger delta to create confusion. Especially those edo, benin and itshekiri people who have no contribution to the Niger delta struggle as well as the greedy delusional ijaws. The only thing that makes us Niger delta is the oil. Outside oil, we are a different people. Now, i speak for myself and based on the conversation we have within my family(Ibibio father and Ogoni mother) Now this is it 1)The name Niger delta represents all the oil producing states with two states from the south east and ondo state from the south west and the six south south states. So if my people say we are going for a Niger delta republic, will it include the other states in the west and east? 2) if we then say just the south south states, what now happens if the igbos in the south south decide to join their people in the east leaving, efik, ibibio, ogoni, ijaw, urhobo, isoko, itshekiri, benin, esan, afemai, akoko edo and any other ethnic group in the delta. Again must we name it Niger delta republic which is an exploitative name given to us by the Nigerian state to enslave us and our resource and if we choose another, what will the name be? What will the flag be like? Where will be the capital (this is the one that will lead to total division if care is not taken) 3) within the delta, ijaws and itskekiri are bloody rivals, infact not just with itshekiri, they have always had expansionist agenda, they claim they are in akwaibom which is foolish anyways, that they own warri, recently they are claiming a part of edo state which has threatened war. Is the south south not going to be a perfect example of the south sudan other Nigerians try to use to blackmail Biafra? Ibibios too don’t like the ijaws anyways. We see them as greedy, lazy and having domineering tendencies. 4) Now as an ibibio, i usually ask myself what makes me similar to a bini and itshekiri who are more like yorubas, than igbos who are not just my direct neighbours whom we have lived and traded with for thousands of years without any form of domination, have had the highest inter tribal marriage rate with, share the same market dates, look similar both in looks, culture and value and worshipped Amadioha in Arochukwu together with the efiks and ijaws, not forgetting that Abiriba and arochukwu people in present day abia state are a mixture of ibibios and igbos and they share the same ancestry), also we share the nsibiri alphabet with them(igbos) together with the efiks 5) The igbos i know are very republican and industrious hence they don’t really depend on government or on one source to make a living, meaning they will most likely have the most diversified economy, can that be said of the south south where most of the youths especailly from the down south riverine states are so fixated on oil. i dont intend to brag but yes the ibibios and itshekiri are the only ethnic groups that are industrious like the igbos in the Niger delta but we are disadvantaged numerically. 6) If the igbos decide to do it alone and they eventually succeed and leave us behind, will we be able to unite and fight our battle? Knowing too well that we will become even more minor when the igbos are gone...for example if with the igbos we are 4 fighting the north and the west with a combined strength of 6. Assuming the igbos alone are 2.5 out of 4 and are gone leaving us with 1.5, will 1.5 be able to fight 6? 7) The Niger delta cannot deny that we are even more divided than the igbos, yes. The igbos just had a successful sit at home protest. Can the Niger delta have such, knowing too well that having a central leader that will be acceptable to all will be the most difficult thing? We have had Asari dokunbo, tompolo who even though where fighting for the ijaw interest claimed to be fighting for the Niger delta. ok, let’s assume they were fighting for the Niger delta, Ayiri mami who is also a Niger deltan and also has cult following among the itshekiri was busy sabotaging their efforts for his own personal gain and contract from Abuja in the name of itshekiri agenda. There by subverting the struggle. Let’s not forget that itshekiri shows more allegiance to the yorubas than any other ethnic group in the delta. Again we can’t forget the NDDC and amnesty programme where the ijaws cornered most the allocations to themselves which forced other groups to protest... The Niger delta also have the most greedy, selfish and corrupt leaders, second only to northern leaders. yes... it is always easy to talk about Aba in abia state, but have we taken time to look at delta and bayelsa states which are one of the richest states based on allocation but cannot pay salaries. Bayelsa is even worse because the people are not enterprising. Remove the igbos there, yenegoa will be grounded economically. The governor once said it. Now all the so call Niger delta struggle from NDPVF, to MEND to NDA where are they now and where have they all ended? I guess we can ask the Edwin clarks, the james iboris, the alameysia, the uduagans, the tomopolos, the Ayiris mamis and other Niger delta warlords and Politian’s whose way of living can only be rivalled by the princes of Arab..9) What will happen to bakassi? Will the Niger delta be able to get bakassi back alone? Knowing to well we are also divided. To the bini man or the isoko man or itshekiri man, it is not his business and he cares less. He will not feel it the way an efik and ibibio will feel it. On the diplomatic front, can we rally ourselves to muster a worldwide diplomatic campaign the way the igbos through ipob are doing to the envy of Nigeria. Nigerians never believe igbos could unite and rally themselves for a course. Infact by virtue of their spread round the world, if they play their cards well diplomatically, they have a better chance of having biafra faster and in the case of war, they can use their connections round the world to get arms.. 10) Finally...I am ibibio and yes i have my reservations about igbos as a people (nobody is perfect anyways) but they have a better side which is more beneficial and I still prefer the Niger delta with the igbos in biafra because the minorities can use the igbos as a uniting factor because left alone, we the south south are not united. At worse, let us have a written and signed agreement as to how we will live with them. The igbos can never be as bad as the hausa fulanis. The igbos contribute more economically to everywhere they find themselves. infact in Biafra, am very confident that once a sea port is built in uyo and it is linked to Aba through train, i see uyo being the fastest growing economies in Africa courtesy the igbos and I see aba closing up with portharcourt to form a megapolis and yes i shared more with the igbos than i share with any deltan west of river Niger and if others are not willing to go with the biafra, me and my family will go with biafra(This are words from my dad).. In conclusion, instead of dancing naked all over the internet because of biafra, igbos and oil, I rather we focus our energy on how to partner with the igbos, have an agreement with them and fight this struggle together. We should avoid the mistakes the igbos and yorubas make. Instead of them uniting together and leading the southern front against the north, the pretend not to be concerned when it doesn’t affect them.. just as ipob is doing, imagine the yorubas have a group like ipob also agitating, am sure the north by now will be panicking, but as it is, the yorubas are acting like the agitation is an igbo thing, all they do is sit down in their room and issue statements on restructuring but no action has be taken to put pressure on the government. Rather they through the media blackmail the igbos, Nnamdi kanu and try to water down the efforts of Ipob. If the igbos tomorrow abandon Biafra for restructuring and restructuring is eventually granted, the same yorubas will come out to claim they fought for restructuring...yet at the end, it is the igbo blood that has liberated all of us. So please my people from the delta, i don’t want us to make the same mistake the yorubas and igbos are making. It’s high time to united with the igbos to form a formidable force to liberate us all. These are the same igbos that stood with Jonathan till the end and they are paying for it even till today under buhari's government(95%/5%). If we miss this opportunity, we may have ourselves to blame. For every drop of division thrown between we and the igbos, the North is more empowered and emboldened.... In the words of attorney generalofthe federation, "Forget about Restructuring" for how long are we going to continue like this? |

maybe this will help to understand the igbos better. i also think it is as a result of their experience in Nigeria. having the feeling that their neighbours hate or envy them dealt alot to their psychology and made the always feeling insecured. hence, they are usually reactional and emotional about issues...My opinion

Migos on an interview on a tv, they agreed that it was Lagos, Nigeria, was the most awe-inspiring place they've performed together, as the energy was crazy and the show was sold out. But according to one of them, Nigerians knew the lyrics of their songs word for word, even though their "English wasn't even that good". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IyDAK4Phfo below is the crazy Lagos performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvpcv092edg 9ja 4 lyf |
