The Uyo Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, on Monday, October 14, 2019 arrested two staff of Communication Trend Limited, Prisca Isaac, Sales Representative and Nwosu Precious, Technician at 111 Atiku Abubakar Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for alleged illegal transmission of broadcast signals of Multichoice (Digital Satellite Television, DSTV) to Uyo and it's environs without authorisation. .

The company allegedly charges Three Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N3, 500.00) and Seven Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N7, 500.00) monthly as subscription fees to its customers using DSTV and other decoders without permission.

During the arrest, the following items were recovered: 2 DSTV Decoders, 1 GOTV Decoder, 28 Well-AV encoders, 3 Transmitters mode ADC Telecommunications, 3 Modulators, 2 UBS DTX 1008 Transmitters, 2 Startimes Decoders, 1 Omovo TV Decoder.

Others include; 1Trendy TV Decoder, 1 CTL N7, 500 Subscription Recharge Cards, 1 CTL N3, 500 Subscription Recharge Card, Tiger T1000 Decoder and 1 Starsat Decoder. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

If you could recall, Seyi Awolowo said to Thelma during their stay in the Big Brother Naija reality tv show house that her late brother has taken her glory with him to the grave but now he has finally issued a public apology over his outburst saying that was his ‘dark side’.

Speaking to Ebuka, during an interview on Monday evening, Seyi said it was the dark side of him that abused fellow housemates while on the show.

He said: “That was the dark side of me when I abused some housemates.

“I did not speak directly to Thelma but I apologize to Thelma for the insult and also to Frodd.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, on Monday, October 7, 2019, arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters among whom were five who claimed to be students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti. The suspects were arrested in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, following meticulous consideration of intelligence reports detailing their alleged involvement in internet fraud and other related offenses.

The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Comedian, Seyi Law wrote a poem dedicated to Big Brother Naija's Mike and when a follower called him out for it, he responded.

The poem spoke about Mike's qualities, compared him to ex BBN housemates, Thin Tall Tony and Dee One who didn't mention to other housemates that they were married. It also compared Mike to other men and found them wanting, then - strangely - took a turn to talk about Mike making love to his wife after his eviction in graphic details.

A follower who didn't approve of the poem called out the comedian, writing: "Can this epistolatory be written for Sowore who is fighting for his country. Misplaced priorities of the Nigerian youth.

And Seyi Law replied; "Go and write your own and leave me out of it. Thanks."

The police in Imo State have arrested eight undergraduates of various institutions in the state for involvement in cultism.

The state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, who paraded the suspects at the command headquarters in Owerri, said the Anti-Cultism Unit of the command had been charged to deal with issues of cultism.

He listed the suspects as Chinasa Nkwocha, 19; Chukwudi Ebendu, 25; Kelechi Anyaegbu, 33; Ikenna Amadi, 22; Chidiebube Emecheta, 26; Chibueze Unegbu, 23; Chiebube Anyanwu, 27; and Joseph Okereke, 26.

The CP said the suspects were members of the Confraternity, who were returning from an initiation at Awo-Omamma in the Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

Ladodo stated that one locally-made gun, one live cartridge, one machete and a wrap of substance suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the suspects.

The CP said, “While on a stop and search duty on the Ogbaku/Onishta Road, Owerri, operatives of the Police Mobile Force, Squadron 18, Owerri, stopped one commuter bus with number plate ACA 22 WZ conveying 18 male persons suspected to be cultists.

“On a thorough search, one locally-made short gun, one live cartridge, one machete and a wrap of substance suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the bus.

“After thorough investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were members of the Confraternity returning from a certain bush in Awo-Omamma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, where they initiated new members.”

The CP said further investigation revealed that the gun and machete were linked to the first suspect, Nkwocha, a student of the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri.

The Gombe State Police Command has paraded a group of suspected criminals for various offences ranging from homosexuality, rape, theft, armed robbery and murder.

Parading the suspects at the command headquarters on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mary Malum, said they were arrested in various parts of the state following useful information provided by members of the public.

According to her, policemen from the Dadin Kowa Division arrested three suspects, Suleiman Abdullahi, 20; Alhasan Mohammed, 20; and Umar Adamu, 20, all from Dadinkowa.

The police also apprehended Saminu Mohammed, 23, and Aminu Mohammed, 19, both of Kwadon, as well as Abdurrahman Garba, and launched a manhunt for one Mubarak, alias Fada, who are suspected members of an armed robbery gang.

Malum said the suspects were arrested in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and receiving stolen properties.

She stated, “The suspects were alleged to have criminally conspired, masked and armed themselves with cutlasses, knives and sticks, and went to the Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Dadin-Kowa, around 11.30pm and robbed the pupils of their valuables. Investigation revealed that some of the victims identified one of the suspects as Suleiman, an ex-pupil of the college.

“The police immediately swung into action in synergy with the school principal, who provided the police with the passport photographs of all ex-pupils of the school bearing the name Suleiman.

“This led to the arrest of the kingpin and other members of his gang, who all confessed to the crime, and they will soon be charged. Exhibits recovered from them included one machete, two knives and two school bags.”

In a related development, policemen attached to the Gombe Division arrested one Joshua Anthony, 35, of the Boshikiri Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State with respect to a case of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

The police spokesperson stated, “The suspect confessed that he was given a ride by a commercial motorcyclist, one Sini Danzaria, 27; from the Federal Low-cost Gombe to the Tumfure Quarter and that on getting to a point at the Rainbow roundabout, Gombe, he used a hammer to hit the motorcyclist on the head. Thinking that the victim was dead, he dragged him into a gutter and made away with his Bajaj motorcycle valued at N230,000 and two mobile telephones valued at N56,000.

“Further investigations revealed that the suspect gave one of the phones to his girlfriend, one Victoria Sabo, 30, of the Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State, and sold the motorcycle at the Garba Chede Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.

“The suspect was trailed through his girlfriend after tracking her phone, which led to his subsequent arrest at the Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State through the resilience of the crack operatives from the Gombe Division; the suspects will soon be charged.”

Also paraded were Nafi’u Ya’u , alias Nape, 20, of the Jeka-da-fari Quarter, Gombe, and one Umar Bello, alias Bappa, 18, of the same address, while others are at large in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

Malum noted that investigation revealed that the suspects criminally conspired and stabbed one Salihu Ibrahim, 27, of the same address, while attacking one Aminu Nuru, alias Gaye.

A 25-year-old man who raped a 13-year-old girl inside a school in Kontagora local government area of Niger state, has been arrested by the Niger state police command.

The suspect identified as Abdullahi Umar reportedly sent the girl to buy him satchet water before dragging her to an Islamic primary school located at Angwan Yamma where he raped her.

Confessing to the crime, Umar said he has always been infatuated with his victim that always ran errands for him and felt she would become his lover after the act.

“I was completely infatuated with her and I do not have any other option than to have sex with her.

“I had sex with her forcefully because that was the only opportunity I had and would not want to miss it at that point in time.

“That was why I dragged her to one Islamic primary school very close to my house to have my way,” he admitted.

The suspect who was arrested by a team of Policemen attached to B Division Kontagora following a tip-off, will be arraigned in court after investigation has been concluded.
