He first answered a question about team news, reporting that David Luiz remains out injured because of a problem with his knee. Conte also explained that Kylian Hazard , Eden’s younger brother who trained with the first team this morning, is one of a number of younger players to have done so this season. A Spanish journalist in the room then wanted to know Conte’s thoughts on Alvaro Morata , who already has 10 goals to his name this season having joined us in the summer from Atleti’s great rivals Real. ‘Alvaro is very happy to play for Chelsea, and I am very happy to have a player like him,’ Conte said. ‘For Alvaro it is the first season to play with regularity, and he is showing he is a great striker. For me, he has a lot of room for improvement and to become one of the best strikers in the world. ‘I repeat: I am very happy that Morata is in our team.’ Morata ’s compatriot Cesc Fabregas had spoken to the media shortly before Conte, and the boss was asked how the midfielder had successfully forced his way into the team. ‘Cesc at the start of the last season didn’t play a lot, but I was very happy because through his work, he tried to change my mind, and it happened,’ Conte acknowledged. ‘In the second part of the last season he started to play with regularity, and he was very important for us to win the title last season. ‘This season he continued to work very hard. He showed me great commitment and great behaviour. The coach has to make the best decision for the team, because the coach wants to win in the same way as the players and fans do. ‘I tried to make the best decision. This season he is playing with regularity. He is performing well and I hope he can continue like this for a long time. ‘He is young,’ Conte added. ‘When you are 30 years old, you have at least five years to play football. ‘To play at this level you must have great desire and will, because this level is not simple. You have a lot of competition with other players, but Cesc has great ambition. He is a winner in his mind and his mentality. For this reason, he is very strong.’ Conte also had words of praise for his counterpart Diego Simeone, who he knows very well as an opponent on the pitch and in the dugout in Italy. Conte pointed out the fact there is a good chance Atletico won’t qualify is testament to the quality in our Champions League group, which we will top with victory tomorrow. ‘Atletico are always a strong team, before and now. They are in a good moment of form, but it’s the same for us. Tomorrow the game will be open because Atletico Madrid will try to win the game, and it’ll be the same for us. The only difference is that the final result for them is very important, and for us we have already qualified, but at the same time a great team has to play every game to try to win. ‘The most important thing was to qualify for the next round, because one of Atletico or Roma will go out of this tournament. We must be pleased with our path in this tournament, even if I maybe regret one game against Roma away. ‘We want to play a big game and try to win, that’s normal. If you see the other groups, you have the same risk if you arrive first or second. If you arrive first you can draw Real Madrid or Bayern Munich or Juventus. ‘We have to try to do our best tomorrow, and then we will see what happens in the draw.’ |

Cesc Fabregas has lifted the lid on the approach he took to earning a regular place in Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side, an achievement for which he is rightly satisfied. If our midfield playmaker is selected for the line-up tomorrow against Atletico Madrid then it will be his third start in a row, and this at a time when the manager is rotating players to negotiate a crowded fixture programme. Having been one of the mainstays of the Chelsea side that won the league three seasons ago, Fabregas was anything but a regular choice for Conte in the early month of the Italian’s first season in charge, but all that changed. ‘I was not playing and I was not really part of his [Conte’s] initial plans,’ Fabregas said. ‘At that point you can do two things; you can just give up and accept that you are not going to be part of the team or the club in the future, or you can do what I did and try to be humble, work hard, train hard every training session and show him what you can do, show him he is wrong, show that he can trust you and you can play in his team. And that is what I did. ‘Every time I had an opportunity I gave my all and I delivered and I think from there on in we started to create a relationship. I would say now that my relationship with the manager is fantastic. He trusts me, I trust him and I know what he wants from me and I know exactly what I can give to the team. I reacted very well and I am very proud of this and at the same time I am very happy because I am where I want to be and that is all down to belief, trust and hard work.’ Fabregas added that he is feeling the fittest he has done for several seasons and while understanding his manager’s philosophy, he has altered his game. ‘I have to adapt myself, especially defensively to a new role. It is not the biggest of my strengths but I still had to adapt. Last season I think the boss would never have trusted me to play in a 3-4-3 every game and I think he does now. That means he has seen something improving in me every day in training and during the games ‘I am 30, you never stop learning in football and this what I am doing. I am learning a lot under him and I am very proud of that and happy. Hopefully it is not the end and there is much more to come.’ Included in that could be a first Champions League trophy for a player who has won so many other major honours. ‘It will be fantastic if I can get it,’ he said, ‘but it is a difficult competition and I have been playing it for a long time. I have reached quite a few semi-finals, I lost the final in a very cruel way, but it is a competition you need to be lucky in, to be very consistent, very strong and hopefully it can be Chelsea’s year. We will try our best to be consistent enough to reach the final and hopefully win it.’ The bolded is what I mean when I talk about KDB's time at Chelsea. You don't run away from competition in a club like Chelsea while disrespecting the coach and then come to tell us that the coach hated you or played politics with you. |
The draw for the FA Cup third round has taken place this evening, with Chelsea handed an away tie against Championship side Norwich City. Having been beaten finalists last season, the Blues will be hoping to go one better this time around and secure the trophy for the eighth time in our history. We last met Norwich in the competition in 2007 when we won 4-0 at home in the fifth round before going on to lift the trophy. Our most recent third-round meeting came in 2002 when, after a goalless draw at Carrow Road, the Blues progressed courtesy of a 4-0 win in the replay, a night which is mostly remembered for Gianfranco Zola's stunning back-heeled volley. Ties are scheduled to be played between 5 and 7 January. Antonio Conte says Chelsea will go all out for the victory which will guarantee top spot in Champions League Group C when we take on Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. With 10 points to our name, the Blues have already qualified and will secure first place with a win or if Roma do not pick up three points from their home match against Qarabag. If Atletico are to have any chance of progressing, they must beat us while also relying on the Italian side failing to win. For Conte, the most important thing is maintaining our positive run of form, in which we have lost only once in our last 11 outings in all competitions, with eight of them ending in victories. ‘I think this game is important because we are playing against Atletico Madrid and they have shown in the past to be an important team in this tournament,’ he said. ‘Now there is a risk they will be eliminated, but we have to play a good game, to improve our confidence, and because we want to reach the first position in our group. ‘But if you arrive first, you could then get teams like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Juventus. It doesn’t change a lot if you arrive first or second. The most important thing is to reach the next stage, but for our mission and our confidence, it would be right to win and arrive first.’ Following last Friday’s World Cup draw, Conte has also spoken about the prospect of several of his players featuring when England play Belgium: ‘For sure I will support my players and for this reason, Belgium, England, Brazil and so on. I will try to watch the game and I think it will be great to see my players against each other. ‘For sure, the World Cup is a great tournament – the best in the world – and in this tournament you can show your ability and your skills, and that you are at the top of the players. I think this is a fantastic chance for every great player to show his ability. ‘I don’t think Eden Hazard is in the peak of his career. I think he has a lot of improvement. He is a young player and it is important for him to work, work, work and show dedication to improve himself. ‘You are at the top when you win the Ballon D’Or, when you win the Champions League, when you win the World Cup and so on. In that moment you are at the top, otherwise you are only a great player.’ http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/12/conte--an-important-game.html |
Eden Hazard’s current form is one of the talking points of football and his performance in the most recent game did nothing to quell that. His two goals scored against Newcastle, his favourite opposition in terms of finding the net, were the product of an attacking display that yielded nine shots from the Belgian in the match, six of which were on target which is the most in the Premier League by a player this season. Clearly, the way he is being asked to play is suiting our no.10, and Antonio Conte , speaking to Chelsea TV after the 3-1 win, talked about being able to utilise 3-4-3 or, like on Saturday, a 3-5-2 shape. ‘I have this opportunity to decide game by game the system it is better to play,’ said the boss. ‘For Cesc, to play as one of three midfielders is great as it gives him more freedom and he is very good with the penetration, but also because Eden can play as a second striker. To rotate two different systems is good because the opponent doesn’t know the way we are going to prepare the game. ‘Eden in this system has more freedom to move, and we try movements to stay very linked with Morata but he likes sometimes to receive the ball between the lines and like this, it is very difficult to stop him.’ 25 - Eden Hazard has scored more goals in all competitions for @ChelseaFC under Antonio Conte than any other player. Following the weekend game, he observed: ‘I can’t put into words how good he [Hazard] is. When he is on the ball, you don’t know what he is made of with his skills and the way he moves off the ball, and I am lucky to play with him.’ - Danny Drinkwater Hazard’s second goal and the team’s third owed plenty to the threat of Victor Moses who returned as right wing-back from the start of a game for the first time since injury six week earlier. As well as winning the penalty from which Hazard scored, it was a Moses cross that Alvaro Morata diverted in for the lead on Saturday and the team’s 50th goal of the season. In the second half he almost combined with the Spaniard again for another effort on goal after he was played behind the defence by a superb Andreas Christensen pass. Behind Hazard, Moses had the most attempts on the Newcastle goal. victormoses Follow 1 DAY AGO 36.5k likes 212 comments Great to be back playing yesterday to help the team get another big 3 points #CFC ‘We have big players here that can win us games,’ were words from Moses after the final whistle. ‘It is great for me to be back and I am pleased to be back on the pitch again. The most important thing is to enjoy your football and I am doing that at the moment.’ It looks like he is not the only one. |
A look at the figures from Saturday’s win reveals key contributions all over the pitch… We had 23 shots to Newcastle’s eight on Saturday, with nine of ours on target compared to two of theirs. Six of our efforts were blocked. Eden Hazard had by some distance the most attempts with nine, well above his league average of 1.8 per game. Victor Moses was next with four. Hazard embarked on 10 successful dribbles, at least twice as many as any other player. He was only stopped by a Newcastle player once. The Belgian’s two goals means he has now scored more Premier League goals against Newcastle than any other team. All six strikes have come at Stamford Bridge. We had a healthy 65.6 per cent share of possession, and in that time completed 647 of the 743 passes we attempted. Cesar Azpilicueta made the most successful passes with 120, and he had the highest pass completion rate of anyone who started the game (91 per cent). The Spaniard also had a game-high 143 touches. When it came to key passes, Cesc Fabregas’s four was a game-high figure, followed by Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante with three. Our overall pass success rate was 87 per cent. Andreas Christensen won a game-high five aerial duels with an impressive 83 per cent success rate. Overall we won twice as many aerial battles as our opponents (20 to 10). Both teams made 17 successful tackles, though our success rate was 74 per cent compared to the visitors’ 49 per cent. They were forced into 37 clearances. Our top tacklers were Victor Moses, Fabregas and Kante , all with three. Marcos Alonso made a joint game-high three interceptions. |
Mark Clattenburg says he allowed Tottenham to "self-destruct" in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea in May 2016, so that he could not be blamed for Leicester securing the Premier League title. Tottenham needed to beat the reigning champions at Stamford Bridge if they were to retain any hope of stopping Leicester lifting the trophy. In a fractious contest, the hosts came from 2-0 down to claim a point with nine Tottenham players and three Chelsea players booked by Clattenburg. However, Clattenburg says he could have taken much more draconian action during the match, but was happy to let Tottenham "self-destruct" instead. A brawl broke out at full-time between players and staff from both sides He told NBC's Men in Blazers podcast : "I allowed them to self-destruct so all the media, all the people in the world could go: 'Tottenham lost the title'. "If I sent three players off from Tottenham, what are the headlines? 'Clattenburg cost Tottenham the title'. It was pure theatre that Tottenham self-destructed against Chelsea and Leicester won the title. "Some referees would have played by the book, Tottenham would have been down to seven or eight players and they would've been looking for an excuse. Dembele was banned for six games after his confrontation with Diego Costa "But I didn't give them an excuse, because my gameplan was: 'Let them lose the title'." Chelsea and Tottenham received record fines following the game, while Tottenham's Mousa Dembele was banned for six games for violent conduct. Clattenburg added: "The physical contact that went on in the Premier League - that was the theatre, that's what people loved. They love a tackle, they don't want it punished." Clattenburg left his job as a Premier League official earlier this year to become head of referees in Saudi Arabia. No wonder. |
Will Manchester city continue with this struggle till may? They have already started struggling to win matches before January, what will happen in January then? |
Biafra, has turned out to be that proverbial bee that has perches at the Nigeria’s scrotum. Allow the bee,it stings the hell out of the scrotum and kill the bee, it hurts the scrotum. This is the position of Biafra . Orchestrated by the “new kid ” in the block , Nnamdi Kanu. Biafra also has presented a case how the negroid or black man will govern himself without resorting to brute. Some analyst say that Biafra will display the level of logicality in the average Blackman’s mind. Nigeria noted to be the biggest black country globally, Biafra will present to the global community how the Blackman reasons either with his gun or with his brains. And the Blackman has sufficiently demonstrated to the world that he prefers reasoning with latter than the former. ” We will kill everything that walks ” quoted Benjamin Adekunle, during the first Biafra war about half a century ago. And he did exactly that, killed many and he was given badge if honours, decorated and a Street named after him in Lagos. Though he later died a sad and unfulfilled man. That’s how the Blackman has come to reason. Then came Nnamdi Kanu, ignored by former adminstration and made popular and a legend by present administration. An international report but it this way. “Until recently, Kanu was politely ignored by the outside world. To many Igbos, he was at best an expat dreamer, at worst a rabble- rousing shock jock. Then, after years in which nobody took him seriously, the Nigerian government did just that. During a visit to Nigeria 15 months ago, he was arrested by its feared Department of State Security at a hotel in Lagos,” The Telegraph London. This new emergence of Biafra ( not as if the ideology died, it didn’t die ) can be attributed to a culmination of isolationist acts Nigeria has dished (full course) to the Igbo which can be seen from political , infrastructural to and otherwise. Today’s Biafrans must have studied the methodology that their fathers used and improved upon it. And this methods seems to be working and the world have taken notice of it. “Angered by the massacre of tens of thousands of Igbos in the Muslim-dominated north, Biafra formed its own army, produced its own currency, and declared independence. The Igbos, who often describe themselves as the ‘Jews of Africa’, wanted their own Israel. They got something closer to holocaust.” The Telegraph London In the words of international observer ,Colin Freeman he captured the essence of Biafra and Nnamdi Kanu road to legend and martyrdom. Presently even deified by the Nigeria government,he said “It has been nearly 50 years since Biafra’s bitter independence struggle, the inspiration for Frederick Forsyth’s bestselling The Dogs of War. Now a south London DJ currently imprisoned in Nigeria has taken up the battle, and Biafrans are once again fighting – and dying – for the dream of their own country” The new found love for Biafra by the people of Igbo descent and their southern cousin in Nigeria Delta States have reached a crescendo that the Nigerians federal government can’t afford to ignore and at the same time must find a lasting solution. The lasting solution has always been within their grips but they prefer looking for it on the mountain top. A clear case of not thinking outside the box. One of the characteristics of the African leadership. Just like how the average carpenter view every problem solution through a hammer the African government solves everything with brute and force. There can be a clear departure from this and the Biafra issue can be solved seamlessly and simply via economic means . Well, rumours have been peddled that the Nigerian government is thinking of of allowing the five Igbo states go, though not ascertained . But, if the this is to be true! Then it will be a mistake. The Igbo are knowns to have this “igwe bu Ike mentality ” a principle of carry your brother along. I don’t think that the anioma Igbo man will be okay staying on his own kniwing that he has about 40 million if his brothers across the river or will be comfortable with another tribe rather than his own siblings the Igbo. The same goes with the Rivers state Igbo. So the solution isn’t this. Nigeria as a country has solutions and there is no need to be petrified or develop phobia for Biafra . Biafra is hinged on our ability as a race to solve our internal problem maturedly. Though, we must agreed that African countries with exception of Ethiopia are white man creations. We lacked the capacity then to either form our countries or govern ourselves . We were created and colonised by the whites but today Nigeria must use this biafr to demonstrate that African man has evolved. Nigeria must demonstrate that African man can solve some political issues without killing. Nigeria must demonstrate that Biafra agitation can be solved via dialogue and not on battle Field. The whole world is looking at Nigeria. The whole world is asking , why is the Blackman like this ? Nigeria shouldn’t give the world the answers they want. Economic model that can be used to settle the agitation is simple. It boils down to what has been said all these while. Regionalism! It’s as simple as that. Let the Igbo and the whole Igbo speaking tribes come together and have their region where a greater degree if autonomy is given to them. Something akin to confederation or full federation. They will decide in their own type of democratic process, their own flag, anthem, even police . The education and judiciary system can be decided by the region. They will run their own internal affairs to a greater degree and pay a stipend to government at centre but will use Nigerian passport and be defended by the Nigerian army. Most of the united countries of the world like the UAE, USA, Canada and even Malaysia run this system. They allow the regions to take their decision and have their internal control mechanism intact. This same goes to every region . Regions should be created according to cultural and ideological beliefs. Then make the centre very weak. The presidency should be rotated and also made powerless . The role of the presidency should be ceremonial while power rest on the region. The presidency ,though ceremonial must be rotated amongst the few regions. This would have been the best bet for the country ,but will the love of oil and the docility if the North allow the country to take this common sense approach? Time will tell. Another harsh option is dissolution. It takes guts to do this but shows maturity. The country can have a bilateral trade agreement between the seceding state. The Biafra can be a client state of Nigeria the way Costa Rica is to USA and Hong Kong to China or Gilbertar to Britain. An arrangement if this kind can be put in place . Agreement will be in visa systems, work and business permits and others. When such agreement are made, there is no need to fret over the issue of Biafra. Because, t just simply means a change of name but not a change of brotherhood or friendship. The agitating and the administrating parties must also look at this options. Ireland isn’t a part of the Britain doesn’t make Irish enemies bro English. They still maintain that oneness and brotherliness. Nigeria must learn from their colonial masters . The Biafra issue, to me isn’t what should give Nigeria headache unless she sees it as so. There is always a way out of seemingly quagmire only if people can look within and factor a way out. The emergence of Biafra or not shouldn’t be seen as a do or die venture. But should be see as an evolutionary trend in the way Blackman reasons. He(Biafran) wants to define his destiny and this must be encouraged. One of the argument that the Biafrans are putting is to redraw the map of Africa that was drawn for African without their consent. And a cursory look at this narrative, they shouldn’t be faulted but negotiated. https://etimes.com.ng/why-biafra-we-can-use-economic-solution-for-lasting-economic-solution/ https://www.boredpanda.com/biafra-can-we-use-an-economic-solution-to-make-them-stay/ |

Eden Hazard tells Antonio Conte not to deny him a hat-trick in future Chelsea games December 2, 2017 Antonio Eden Hazard has urged Antonio Conte to allow him to complete his hat-trick in future games following Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday. The Belgium international was the star man at Stamford Bridge as he found the net twice against Rafa Benitez’s men. But Hazard was denied the chance to score his third as Conte decided to replace him with Willian with 12 minutes remaining. Asked if he was disappointed to be brought off by the Chelsea manager, Hazard told Sky Sports: ‘No, I think all the players want to play. ‘We play on Tuesday, so rest sometimes is good. But of course, when I score two, I want to score a hat-trick. ‘But I’ll let the other boys score, no problem.’ Jamie Redknapp reacts to Eden Hazard’s display in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Newcastle Jamie Redknapp heaped praise on Eden Hazard’s brilliant performance in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon. The visitors made the breakthrough in the first half when Dwight Gayle broke the deadlock in the 12th minute following the English forward’s goal at Old Trafford a fortnight ago. Chelsea were level eight minutes later when Hazard pounced on the loose ball and fired past Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow to score his fourth Premier League goal of the season. Alvaro Morata handed the home side the lead when Alvaro Morata connected with Victor Moses’ cross to take his tally to 10 goals following a summer move from Real Madrid. The Belgium international made it 3-1 thanks to Hazard’s chipped finish from the penalty spot following a foul on Moses with 13 minutes remaining at Stamford Bridge. Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Redknapp hailed Hazard’s performance in a 3-1 win over Newcastle. “The form he is in – he was sensational,” Redknapp told Sky Sports. “His feet were so quick. He was in great form.” Hazard scored 16 times in their title-winning campaign under Conte last season to get his hands on his second Premier League crown in three seasons. Chelsea moved to within eight points of Premier League leaders Manchester City ahead of the Citizens’ clash against West Ham United. |
If madrid have this kind of season they are having now in the epl, they will be almost exactly the same position Chelsea was in this time in 2015/2016 season. Every club go just come collect bonanza. |
raumdeuter:yes. Your goalkeeper make saves is also a great tactics. You think say you go fit come turn amala anyhow. Abeg, i no get your strength. |
diggz:did you miss the red for kolselny? Officiating has really been poor in the EPL this season. |
raumdeuter:you know Sterling has scored three late goals this season. Is that part of Pep's tactics too? |
One thing is certain, after this match today, the journalists will start writing articles in support of Mourinho tactics. The fact is that, no tactics is better than the other, as long as they can be used to win matches and titles, because all tactics have their flaws. |
There is nothing anybody will tell me now against de gea being the best goalkeeper in the world now. When you say that a goalkeeper will win 15 points, it is de gea |
Manchester United, go there. Do it. Keep up the pressure on city. |
