ollah2:mou's Chelsea never lost to psg at home. |
Jose Mourinho is Chelsea's No 1 and should have been shown more respect by fans, Ray Wilkins said on Premier League Daily. The Stamford Bridge crowd jeered Mourinho during Manchester United's 1-0 defeat at the hands of his former club in the FA Cup quarter-final on Monday, with fans unhappy as the 54-year-old had to be separated from Antonio Conte on the touchline. Mourinho held three fingers up to Chelsea fans to signify how many Premier League titles he won with the club Mourinho lifted three fingers towards the home supporters to signify the number of Premier League trophies he won with the club, and former assistant manager Wilkins says the former Porto and Real Madrid boss should have been afforded more respect. "I just wish our Chelsea supporters, and I'm a Chelsea supporter, showed a little bit more class to Jose Mourinho," said Wilkins. PL Daily: Leicester's adventure Leicester, Man City & Man Utd discussed on PL Daily podcast "People will naturally be thinking: 'Hang on a second he was demonstrating stuff on the touchline against Chelsea'. Well yes he was but now he's employed by Manchester United. Chelsea relieved him of his post. "If we actually remember what he's done for our club, and I say our club because I've been a Chelsea man since I was 10 and a half, he's worked miracles there. Antonio Conte (right) has got under Mourinho's skin, says Andy Walker "He's a good bloke but he's a football man, he wants his club to win. I just thought the other night against Manchester United they didn't show him the respect he merits." Asked if Mourinho should have shown more respect to Conte, Wilkins said: "When you've got two coaches on the sideline that have so much passion then you're going to have a little [confrontation]. "You could have said Conte was disrespectful to Jose. It was just a conflict of interests, they just had a row and these things happen." Conte was unhappy with the number of fouls Manchester United committed during the game Mourinho labelled himself "Judas" after the game, but maintained he is still the No 1 at the club until another manager proves otherwise. Wilkins agrees with the United boss' assessment and thinks Chelsea supporters do too. "I think they [Chelsea fans] do if they're thinking about it logically and sensibly, there's no one that can touch him at the moment," said Wilkins. "Jose will be number one until somebody wins as many trophies as Jose." www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/10802743/jose-mourinho-owed-more-respect-from-chelsea-fans-says-ray-wilkins |

BARCELONA VS PSG REFEREE FACING UEFA DEMOTION Reports in Spain suggest Deniz Aytekin may be removed from Champions League duty after making controversial calls in a 6-1 thriller at Camp Nou The man at the centre of Barcelona’s remarkable comeback against Paris Saint- Germain, Deniz Aytekin, may have taken charge of his last Champions League game this season, according to Marca . The German referee made a controversial late call at Camp Nou on Wednesday which allowed Barca to complete their stunning 6-1 fightback. Mathieu: PSG showed no respect Luis Enrique’s side had entered the second leg of their last 16 encounter trailing 4-0 on aggregate, but hit back in style to book their place in the quarter-finals. After edging their way back into the game, the tie looked to be over for Barca when Edinson Cavani grabbed an away goal for PSG. There was, however, to be thrilling finish to the encounter that delivered three goals in the final seven minutes. Of those, it was Aytekin’s awarding of a stoppage-time penalty which sparked outrage within the PSG ranks – having previously waved Angel Di Maria to his feet after tangling with Javier Mascherano. Luis Suarez, who had already been booked for diving, went down in the box late on under minimal contact, with the match officials eventually coming to the conclusion that a spot-kick should be awarded. 'Barca will haunt PSG for generations' Neymar converted and Sergi Roberto snatched a last-gasp sixth for Barca as they edged their way through. While the celebrations in Catalonia promise to drag on for some time, Aytekin is facing up to the prospect of seeing his 2016-17 Champions League campaign brought to a close. Marca report that UEFA’s head of refereeing, Pierluigi Collina, is considering taking the 38-year-old out of the firing line. When is the Champions League draw? The Spanish publication says: “UEFA sources have confirmed to Marca that it is Collina's way of cutting mistakes out from his team of officials. “However the body won't strictly punish the German official, although he could find himself demoted to lesser profile games for the time being or simply removed from action for a specific period.” PLAY Fifa president Gianni Infantino has, however, backed UEFA’s group of officials and their ability to make big decisions. He said: "Whether that particular case was an injustice or not, we can leave it to the judgement of the referee. PSG panic revealed by shocking stat "We saw was an incredible football match, whatever the result would have been at the end. This shows that football is really a fantastic game. When you feel you have seen everything, something else comes along. It's just amazing and incredible. "We have to really be careful in the International Football Association Board if we want to touch the rules, because football is such an incredible game. "In this case, I don't know if it was a clear mistake or not. But in future, when there are clear mistakes, this will be corrected by the video assistant referee so we can make sure decisive matches are not decided by mistakes made in good faith by the referee." www.m.goal.com/s/en-ng/news/4055/main/2017/03/11/33518292/barcelona-vs-psg-referee-facing-uefa-demotion |

Pep Guardiola accepts his first season at Manchester City will be considered a failure if he does not win a trophy. Guardiola had huge expectations placed on him when he arrived at City last summer because of his past successes with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. His hopes of winning the Premier League this season seem remote with City trailing leaders Chelsea by 10 points with 11 games remaining. Man City 0-0 Stoke However, Manchester City are still involved in the FA Cup and Champions League and, even though Guardiola is prioritising team improvement, he realises the importance of silverware. "If I have no silverware, I will not be here for a long time," he said. "No silverware - it will not be a good season. I knew that in August. Being a manager depends on results. "I know how my standard is in the past about the titles and I know what is on my shoulders and I have to handle that. Man City vs Liverpool March 19, 2017, 4:00pm Live on Get Sky Sports Get a Sky Sports pass "But I always believe deep in my heart that results depend on the way you play. That's why I need to be convinced that we're playing better every day. "I would like to see my team playing better at the end of the season than at the beginning. It is good that the players in the last month have shown how close they are and what good team spirit they have. Pep Guardiola's side are still in the FA Cup and Champions League "But I know we will be judged on the titles we have won. My period in Munich was judged like a disaster because we were not able to win the Champions League. "I won three leagues in a row, we won two cups from three, we arrived every time in the semi-finals and finals, (but) it was (judged) a disaster. "I have to handle that but what I can say is try to play better, better, better than the previous month. That's what I want to see for the next year - be better." www.skysports.com/football/news/11679/10797636/pep-guardiola-says-manchester-citys-season-a-failure-without-a-trophy |
