hazard got tired early on in the second half, but he was not that bad looking at the way Burnley played. in all, he was still given the man of the match by whoscored https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1080714/Live/England-Premier-League-2016-2017-Burnley-Chelsea |
dyabman:good for him |
lordfalcao:i think Pedro has gotten a red card at Barcelona |
lordfalcao:hazard would have been on his way to being like this guys if not for that stupid swansea ball boy |
what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! did someone just call lukaku an ELITE FORWARD? |
diggz:costa is not even the ideal striker for this chelsea system. we all see how costa kills counter attacks with his foolishness of not passing the ball when he has to, but instead choosing to dribble even when he knows that is not also good at it. i have not really fancied costa, but i cannot call him a fraud because of the goals he keeps scoring. this goal come about from his fighting spirit, positioning and anticipation which he all has over lukaku. costa can still offer better for chelsea in this system than lukaku. atleast, costa will be able to pass the ball back to hazard successfully more times than lukaku will do. costa will detect a teammates run to give a pass or use the advantage of the run to create a goal for himself. costa can play a one two with a teammate. costa can make better key passes than lukaku. although you may argue that lukaku has more key passes than costa, but that is due to the fact that teams have the tendency to defend when they play against chelsea than when they play against everton. so, costa's attempted passes in the final third will often times blocked by the opponent. |
diggz:you think that it is only goals that is considered when you talk about a striker, fine. But, have you sat down to think of how productive a striker will be when he cannot play in a system that complements his attributes? lukaku has no technical intelligence to play in a club like chelsea. he cannot cope with the pressure of having to deliver week in week out. |
Lukaku again! Hmm. Okay, I think it has gotten to that point where I will say "I pray Chelsea signs lukaku so that we can all see what he has to offer Chelsea". This is exactly the type of prayer and made in 2015 when some people were clamoring for Buhari to become president. I thank God that my prayer was answered and now we can all see that Buhari has nothing to offer Nigeria and may soon go down as the worst ever Nigerian President.. Lukaku has nothing to offer a club like Chelsea. That guy is a fool!!!!!! Hmm, I don talk my own o. |
Wingback:why say that? |
No be me write am o. Hazard vs Messi - the stats showdown that proves Chelsea star deserves comparisons Feb 7, 2017 19:37:44 Premier League After the Chelsea winger was likened to the Argentine superstar by Roberto Martinez, Goal analyses whether the duo really are on the same levelANALYSIS The football world is running out of superlatives for Eden Hazard following his wonder-goal in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Arsenal at the weekend. This was proven when Belgium national team coach Roberto Martinez compared the pint-sized winger to Barcelona legend Lionel Messi. Boateng: Klopp is best coach in the world "What he does is quite unique," Martinez said in an interview with Goals on Sunday. "It's that acceleration and stopping and standing still. He reminds me a lot of Messi." "Not many players can control the moment and take the defenders where you want to take them. The way he uses the ball with his feet is sensational and what is surprising more than anything is his maturity." Messi, of course, is regarded as one of the best players of all time and has won the Ballon d'Or a record five times. Meanwhile, Hazard has been revitalised this term by club manager Antonio Conte after a miserable 2015-16 season, leading the club to the Premier League summit with a string of sensational displays. But can the former Lille man really be compared to the genius that is Messi, at least on a statistical level? With Chelsea out of Europe and an extra cup competition in England, only league football has been taken into consideration for this comparison. The baffling mystery of Thomas Muller In terms of goals scored, Messi is a comfortable winner having scored 16 times and Hazard 10. Leo also has more assists, setting up four goals to Hazard’s three – despite playing five fewer matches. However, it must be recognised that Hazard operates much more in wide areas than Messi does, and also has more defensive duties – and this naturally affects his ability to score and create. When it comes to official man of the match awards, Hazard is the victor. The 26-year-old has been the best player on the pitch eight times this term, one more time than Messi has. Hazard produces more crosses per game than Messi (1.38 crosses to 0.28) and he is also better at winning back the ball, recovering possession 4.87 times a game - compared to Messi’s 2.44. Chelsea play in a 3-4-3 formation that has freed up Hazard more but he is still required, like all Chelsea players under Conte, to defend. The Blues also operate on the counter-attack much more than the possession and territory-obsessed Barcelona. It is also fair to argue that the Premier League is a far more competitive and physical league than La Liga – with Barcelona more likely to dominate their local opponents than Chelsea are theirs. This naturally benefits Messi. Hazard out-performs Messi in pass completion stats, but as Messi is playing further up the pitch and is more focused on decisive actions that lead to goals, this is perhaps to be expected. Barcelona have scored four more goals than Chelsea so far this term and see their system built around their academy product, despite having both Luiz Suarez and Neymar in their team. A look into the dribbling stats of both players is perhaps the most insightful and surprising element of this analysis. Hazard defeats Messi both in attempted dribbles and successful dribbles. Perfect timing for Lacazette to leave So far this season, Hazard's dribbles-per-game are at 5.96, while his dribble success rate is at 73.72%, compared to Messi's 5.83 and 55.24%, respectively. Hazard is also the first player in Europe's top-five leagues to complete 100 dribbles following the match against Arsenal. Clearly, there are similarities in the way Hazard and Messi both move and dribble on the pitch. Their exciting styles of play make them two of the most popular and marketable players in the world. THAT goal from Eden Hazard against Arsenal #cfc #afc #chelsea #chelseafc #hazard pic.twitter.com/WqTLZ6MVqM— Goal (@goal) February 5, 2017 All in all, these statistics prove that Hazard deserves to be compared with Messi based on his form this season. Goals and assists will always be the most decisive areas when comparing two attackers, and Messi is superior than the Belgian in these aspects. He remains the standard-bearer in world football, along with Cristiano Ronaldo. But in terms of his overall contribution to the team, Hazard outperforms the Argentine in numerous areas. And if there is one thing in particular he can be proud of, it is that he is a better dribbler than Messi right now! http://m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/4071/premier-league/2017/02/07/32431252/hazard-vs-messi-the-stats-showdown-that-proves-chelsea-star |
SIRcumalot:oga, i am sorry. Hazard will still perform against utd, more than he did in the first leg. |
If i dy see "lukaku" for here, e dy itch me. I hate that name. You guys should stop mentioning that name here. |
SIRcumalot:if i say hazard, my conscience will continue to trouble me. You knw i like that guy. Costa is the man for me. |
raumdeuter:not that, he has won more man of the match than every other player in europe top five league |
"There were players who know Hazard well and know very well that you don't let him get up a head of speed and we were very naive." www.m.goal.com/s/en/news/1862/premier-league/2017/02/06/32380402/hurt-wenger-says-chelsea-drubbing-was-difficult-to-watch |
WENGER'S TACTICS ARE MADNESS - IT'S TIME FOR HIM TO STEP DOWN, CLAIMS ADAM The Stoke City midfielder gave a startlingly honest assessment of how easily he believes Arsenal can be beaten under their current manager Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has claimed Arsenal are too easily outfought and labelled their attacking style of play "madness". Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is once again coming under fire after his side's 3-1 defeat at Chelsea virtually eliminated them from the Premier League title race. Neville slams 'embarrassing' Arsenal fans And Adam believes their inability to end a drought without a league championship that stretches back to the 2003-04 season is a result of the lack of balance between defence and attack in their approach. "The thing for Arsenal, I think it’s the front six want to just go and win the game, and they let the four defenders defend, and that's it, that's how it becomes," Adam told BBC Radio Five Live. "If you can get the ball back and get up the pitch quick you're straight into their back four, and that's the problem they've got. "They are missing [Granit] Xhaka at the moment, but people like [Francis] Coquelin sitting in there, they want to go forward, they've got the intention to go forward, and it leaves them so wide open. "At the weekend, [Eden] Hazard runs the ball 60, 70 yards, throws Coquelin out of the way and he finishes it. "That's the way Arsenal play, and at the moment, it's not happening for them, they are struggling. For an opposing team, that’s how we feel we can affect them. "They are great going forward, The front six can cause anybody problems, but when you get beyond that and straight at the back four, it can end up six versus four or five versus four, and you've got to punish them." Asked if they ever change or tailor their approach to a match, Adam replied: "No, never. It's the same way, no matter if they are playing Stoke, Bayern Munich or Chelsea, they always try the same way. "It is madness. I think that comes from a personal pride. Mourinho gets stick earlier in the season, but he goes to Liverpool, shuts up shop, he's happy with a point. PLAY "I don’t think Arsenal are happy with that. They think they have to win every game." Scotland international Adam also believes that criticism Arsenal receive for lacking mental and physical toughness is legitimate. "That's one of the things that's been labelled at Arsenal for a number of years," he noted. "I don’t feel that they've got that drive, they just accept at Arsenal that it's another game. Llorente opens up on Chelsea move "Back in the day with Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn't be having that, he wanted to win everything, every trophy, and that's why he stayed in the game so long, and that's why he was a champion. "I think Arsene Wenger as a person must sit down at the end of the season and say: 'I think [we've] gone as far as we can.' There is an opportunity for someone else in there." www.m.goal.com/s/en-ng/news/4071/premier-league/2017/02/07/32404492/wengers-tactics-are-madness-its-time-for-him-to-step-down-claims- |
'TO BE GOOD IN COUNTER ATTACK IS SUDDENLY ART' - MOURINHO IN SLY DIG AT CONTE PLAUDITS The Manchester United manager claims he used to face criticism for being 'ruthless', but is now seeing Chelsea hailed for taking the same approach Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has seemingly aimed a dig at Chelsea counterpart Antonio Conte, suggesting that the Italian is earning praise for an approach he used to be criticised for. The Red Devils boss forged a reputation for being “ruthless” in his approach, with his sides at Stamford Bridge, Inter Milan and Real Madrid famed for their defensive strength. He was happy for his teams to operate on the counter-attack and accumulate positive results and trophies by any means necessary. Ibra: I haven't hit goals target His methods were not always well received, however, and the Portuguese has altered his ways since arriving at Old Trafford, having been made aware of the expectation at United to play attractive football. While doing so, Mourinho has seen his permanent successor at Chelsea earn plenty of plaudits for tightening up the Blues at the back and making them a threat on the break. Clearly frustrated, Mourinho said of the change of mentality in English football: “My team is playing very well but for many, many years in my career, especially in this country, when my teams were ruthless and phenomenal defensively, and very good in the counter attack, I listen week after week that it was not enough in spite of winning the title three times. Mou vows to keep up top-four fight “It looks like this season to be phenomenal defensively and good in counter attack is art, so it was a big change in England. “But my Manchester United, I don’t want to change the profile of our play, this is the way the fans want us to play, this is the way the club wants us to play. PLAY “But I also don’t want to be a manager of a team who plays very well, creates a lot of chances and doesn’t win matches. We need to score goals.” Mourinho was speaking after seeing his United side sweep past reigning Premier League champions Leicester City 3-0 at the King Power Stadium. Mkhi showing Martial the way The Red Devils are now 15 games unbeaten in the English top-flight, a run which stretches back to a 4-0 reversal at Chelsea in October 2016. They continue to occupy sixth spot in the standings, but are now just two points adrift of the Champions League places. www.m.goal.com/s/en/news/8/main/2017/02/06/32377042/to-be-good-in-counter-attack-is-suddenly-art-mourinho-in-sly-dig-?ICID=HP_HN_1 |

How did Matic perform? Eden Hazard reaching a landmark figure was among the notable statistics to come out of Saturday’s derby victory… The Belgian attempted and completed all 10 of his take-ons against the Gunners, at least twice as many as any other player at the Bridge. In doing so he became the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to manage 100 successful take-ons this season. His brilliant goal included three successful take-ons, two past Laurent Koscielny and one past Francis Coquelin in between. We had 13 shots to Arsenal’s nine, with six to their five on target. We created nine chances overall, Arsenal seven. Pedro created a game-high four opportunities. Marcos Alonso scored with one of his three efforts on goal, as many as anyone on the pitch attempted. The Spaniard also won three of his four attacking aerial duels, one of which found the net. He also won all three of his defensive aerial duels. We had a 42 per cent share of possession and made 326 successful passes. Nemanja Matic completed 43 passes, the most of any Chelsea player. He was closely followed by Cesar Azpilicueta (40), Pedro (38), N’Golo Kante (36) and Hazard (35). Nacho Monreal was the game’s top passer overall with 57. Hazard completed 22 of his 27 attacking- third passes, second only to Mesut Ozil. Hazard to Pedro and Victor Moses to Azpilicueta were our most frequent pass combinations. In terms of territory the teams were very evenly matched, with Chelsea having 49.2 per cent. Kante made a game-high 11 ball recoveries, Hazard next with nine. Kante and Matic won four tackles apiece, while Azpilicueta made four interceptions. Diego Costa made a game-high five clearances, showing his worth defensively, the same number as Gary Cahill . Overall we completed more take-ons (17) and clearances (26) than Arsenal, made more ball recoveries (59) and interceptions (17), and won more aerial duels (seven) and corners (six). It was our fifth consecutive home win over the north London side with an aggregate score of 15-2. www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/02/the-data-day--chelsea-v-arsenal.html |

Griffon:ask him. The same aguero that played a key role in Manchester city winning Barcelona despite not scoring on the day. |
diggz:let us just leave this argument for now. I am already tired of typing. Time will tell, but I still hold my stand. |
SIRcumalot:na lie. The point is that you neglect the difficult circumstances that he had to overcome to score that goal. There was no teammate in sight to help him draw away defenders. |
Chelsea wants to sign Aguero |
Ibime:Batshuayi has 94 minutes for Chelsea in the epl across 15 substitute apps yet he has a goal and an assist. Even before mou, Lukaku had already played 158 minutes for Chelsea in the league spread across 7 subs and 1 start, yet he showed no reason why he should be given another start. Lukaku is just good for the likes of Everton. If he were better than that, he should be one of the most sought after players in Europe given the numbers he has. Yet, it is not the case. |
diggz:oga, this issue of lukaku not playing as a striker for Chelsea has already been dealt with. During Mourinho's time, all his appearances were as a striker. You keep saying that he is only good as a striker forgetting that mou is a manager that is so much in love with the target man type of striker and yet lukaku could not make it under mou. |
Ibime:sturridge did nt get a sniff of d no. 9 shirt, yet he was making impacts in the game whenever he was brought in. If you believe he did nt fail at chelsea, then i believe he was given the chance to show that he can score more than 17 goals for chelsea d way he did for westbrom. The manager does nt just need a goal, bt just a sign that he can help the team to win. Maybe the goals will come later, bt no, he showed no sign. |
diggz:like i said b4, those goals are scored for average clubs like westbrom and everton. Do you remember that lukaku scored more than 17 goals for westbrom b4 mou came. Bt, whenever mou brought him into the pitch, you wl neva see the signs of a player that scored such number of goals in westbrom. No intelligent runs, no positioning, poor passes and link up play. Lukaku cannot withstand the demand of having to score in every match in a club like chelsea. Chelsea is nt everton where lukaku is free to score whenever he wants and nt when the club wants. Lukaku's level is the evertons where he is their best player. |
Ibime:so, after torres took 14 matches to score for us, did we call him a good striker? |
Ibime:at least lukaku played as a number nine for 23 minutes for chelsea. http://m.bbc.com/sport/football/23877992 mark my word, lukaku will neva make it any day in plays in a club that is nt average like everton. He is a fraud. Is it nt the same lukaku that flopped at the world cup until the manager had to bring in origi and mertens to start scoring goals for belgium. He and his rasta brothers sent belguim out of the last euros. He can't make it in a big club, cus he can't stand the pressure and the demand of playing for a big club. He shld keep playing for everton. |
Ibime:yet, sturridge was scoring and playing reasonably whenever he was brought in. Let us take the case of Gabriel Jesus. We all saw his performance against tottenham. That was all he needed to make the manager bench a proven striker for him to play. Look at iheanacho. Chelsea is a big club, and first impression matters in a big club. Also, there is no second chance for first impression. If lukaku is as good as u guys say, he shld be able make something out of the few chances he got. Even if it is nt to score or assist, he shld at least make movements, passes etc that will show that he is capable to play 4 a big team. |
