It was in their bid to rubbish VVD's defensive prowess they shot themselves in the leg, that winning aerial duel is nothing.

Look at VVD here tracking back to nod away the ball from Kane winning it.

https://j.gifs.com/ROVVoz.gif

Similar aerial ball Boathand failed to nod away and Martinez capitalised on, to score here.

This is what is called, anticipation and game reading. It is only done by players with sense.

Same way goalkeepers are expected to make saves and strikers are expected to score goals. Does that mean we shouldn't praise players that excel at these things and do them better than others? VvD is the most dominant CB aerially in today's game and i don't see why we shouldn't give him props for that.
The bolded is as true as the gospel of Christ.

One doesn't even need to play pro before one uses sense to grab it when explained.

'Look over your shoulder', is what coaches always ask cbs, when they are strangely free in the box, when the opponents are with the ball in the flanks.

Ferdinand was mumu for that goal. They call it loss of concentration.
The funny thing is that, Ferdinand saw Messi clearly positioning himself for that cross, but either laziness or tiredness made him not to attempt to go closer to Messi to do the needful. Or maybe, he underestimated Messi.

Oga it was a perfect cross to Messi. Their is nothing Ferdinand can do at that instance. Absolutely nothing.
I did not play football professionally. I have not been following football for 100 years like you guys. But, if you have been following football for a long time and still think that there is nothing Ferdinand would have done there, then I can't help you.

He already lost Messi seconds.earlier by staring transfixed at the ball like an ode when Messi was making his run
that ball did not come with much speed like a kdb cross, so Ferdinand had enough time even after the cross left to challenge and unsettle Messi, at least. Since Messi is not very good in heading, he would have, at least, caused Messi to, maybe, head wide or over the bar.

People still look at inter and AC Milan today as juggernauts. Italy already has that aura of many top teams which just works to Juventus advantage in my opinion but you are right. They have had it easy as well.

Real Madrid were competing against arguably the greatest player in history and one of the greatest teams as well for most of that ten years. No other club would have fared better. They get a pass for their wooful league record.

I don't need you to tell me where Lampard played in his last years at Chelsea.

It is Chelsea's own stüpidity to push him deep prematurely for the useless shiny new toy of Oscar and yet Lampard was still outproducing Oscar and making key differences where it matters.

City allowed him the freedom to make the difference where he does it best, even in the last knockings of his career and he rewarded them with results.

What Lampard did in Chelsea, even as a DM was go on scoring runs to secure UCL qualification when needed and topping the Chelsea scoring charts in the process. Despite having the most impotent striker upfront, his goals were crucial to securing UCL qualification. You can check his scoring run under Benitez including the goals against Aston Villa that secured us qualification.

Take that Lampard despite another 2 years in his legs and put him infront of Fernandinho and Toure instead of dropping him in with the useless Mikel and Ramires, and what you get is 28 points from 10 starts.

Imagine trying to discredit Lampard saying his replacement with Fabregas is what won the league, when Lampard has been carrying Chelsea above their level for the last 2 years with the useless Torres and useless Ramires, Oscar and snail Mikel in midfield. If not for Lampard contribution that period of 2012 to 2014, na 7th or 8th position for sure pass. The introduction of Matic to knock out those 2 useless midfielders and the introduction of Costa to knockout the Spanish Eunuch were key pieces of development to winning the league, so stop creating story that removing Lampard for Fabregas was what won the league
.
I was only giving you a taste of your own medicine, since you like to make bogus conclusions.
So, whether you like it or not, Chelsea won the league after they chased Lampard away and Manchester City could not win again after they got Lampard. grin

Now, tell us, how many points did Lampard’s goal get from the 10 starts?

He plays deeper for City than for Belgium, leave formation.

He plays as an AM most times but likes to drop deeper to dictate the tempo of the game
where will kdb play AM in Belgium when they play two AMs in Hazard and Mertens?

Go and check again. He plays CM for both teams with much freedom. He used to play as RAM or Cam for Belgium until he started to play CM for Manchester City, then Martinez came to Belgium and gave him the same role and started the 3-4-3/3-4-2-1.

I've always said you don't know how to watch football.

I don't argue with results and the result speaks for itself which is that City collected 28 points from the 10 games Lampard started.

By the time Pellegrini drafted him into the team in September, they were already far behind Chelsea yet Lampard kept them in the hunt. They expected his loan to finish that December so they had to prioritise their main players not short term loan and that is where they started dropping points.

At the bolded, when did you ever know Lampard to hold onto ball instead of passing quickly. I have told you, you don't know how to watch football, which is why you gravitate toward those who dance makossa on the ball unnecessarily. That same foolishness is what made you think Hazard is one of footballs greats to the point you lot were not far from comparing him with Messi and Ronaldo, when I have already told you 6 years ago that even KDB is better.

I have told you time without number that an AM job is to act quickly to exploit gaps not to control possession. Anywhere you like to check in this world, possession is controlled by the DM and CM. So definitely, there must be computer error in your brain if you are watching City expecting Lampard to hold ball instead of Fernandinho and Toure behind him. He did exactly what he came there to do which is make the difference at the right end of the pitch.
Are you the only one who does not know that Lampard began to play as a CM in the later years of his career?
He played CM for Chelsea for years until he left. Partnering either Ramires or Mikel.

Lampard scored 4 goals as a sub and 2 while starting. Now tell us, if going by your narrative, was Lampard more important as a sub or as a starter?

If Lampard was that good at that age to guarantee league win, why did he not win it for Chelsea that season that we were topping the league until Liverpool, and then Manchester City came to overtake us to win the league?

Like I said earlier, any manager starting Lampard in his team at that time, and hoping to win league with him is not only sick, but delusional.

For Belgium though, he plays better higher up the pitch than in midfield. That's why I said him playing in midfield at City is perfect for him because of Pep's style of play but any other coach might struggle to fit him in midfield.
leave formation that you see, kdb plays the same thing he plays for City at Belgium. He plays as a cm with freedom to roam all over the pitch.

Stop talking rubbish my friend. Because you refuse to engage your brain when watching football does not mean everyone is foolish when watching football.

Results speak for themselves and City won 9 and drew 1 of the 10 games Lampard started. Even the games he didn't start but was given decent minutes, he rescued points for City eg against Chelsea.

Every manager has right to prioritize the future of the club, but Pellegrini lost that league in the games he relegated Lampard to the periphery, not when Lampard was on the pitch.

There is a reason City fans adopted him as a club favourite despite only 1 season there in his twilight. If you don't have brain to watch football properly, just keep quiet and let those who know what they are watching summarise for you.
The way you bring narratives from no where baffles me.

Lampard was so good at that age that he could guarantee league win, yet Mourinho had to chase him away to America with Fabregas (which mourinho described as the last piece of his puzzle) so that Chelsea could win the league.

Thank God that Pellegrini knows that the first job of a CM is to control midfield play before anything goals. That is why he usually brought in Lampard when legs were tired to come get the goals, which was the only thing left in his arsenal at that time.

This your narrative of city losing the league because Lampard was benched is one of your worst narratives.

The same Lampard that always looked like trembling if the ball is passed to him. Nigga will always release the pass with the speed of light so that small boys will not come and meet him with the ball is the person that you want a manager to be starting as a midfield achor just because he still knows how to score goals.

No manager in his right senses, who is serious to win title will be starting Lampard at that time.

That's like saying Ronaldo will have to share goals if he goes to City.

In a team that scores more, Lampard will simply score more.

The only full season Lampard played under Ancelotti, he scored 27 goals and made 20 assists. Obinojazz estimate of 15 goals and 10 assists is GROSSLY underestimated. This is a man who went 7 years at Chelsea popping 20 goals each year. In City who are scoring more, Lampard will score more, excluding penalties.

Even at 35/36 years old, he still went to the same City and was scoring every 160 mins. Infact, if not for getting 10 mins here and there, his average would be much higher. There was one point he dragged City back into the title race earlier in the season, scoring back to back to back. Pellegrini made a mistake to bench him for the 2nd half of the season, and that's when City dropped off the title race.

On the original question, I will still take KDB over Lampard though. I feel KDB can score more goals than he does if he plays further up, and he will out-assist Lampard also.
which kind talk be this nah, oga Ibime. So, pelle should be starting a completely washed up Lampard just because he can pop up 1 or 2 goals by running to the front of goal?

Lampard that lost confidence and could not hold ball for 2 seconds. How will he run the midfield, then with young and energetic players against him. Nawao you o. This your Lampard love self.

15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

18 Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come. 19These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.
20But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit, and all of you know the truth. 21So I am writing to you not because you don’t know the truth but because you know the difference between truth and lies. 22And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.
