KUDOS TO IPOB, BUHARI HAS NO BUSINESS IN BIAFRALAND. |
Forty-two civil society organisations have called on the Federal Government and governors of Abia and Anambra states to initiate an independent investigation into allegations of serious human rights violations by security forces against supporters and activists of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other pro-Biafra agitators. The groups, in a joint statement yesterday said they were deeply concerned by revelations in Amnesty International’s recent report that highlighted a range of human rights violations committed by security forces led by the military in the South-East states of Abia, Anambra as well as South-South states of Delta and Rivers. They include NOPRIN Foundation, Centre for Human Rights & Peace Advocacy, Foundation For Environmental Rights, Advocacy & Development (FENRAD), Bauchi Human Rights Network, Centre For Human Rights and Citizen Advocacy and Centre For Human Rights, Social Justice & Anti- Torture Initiatives. Advertisement Others are: African Centre for Media & Information Literacy, Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative (Partners West Africa - Nigeria), Legal Defence and Assistance Project (LEDAP), Access To Justice, Human Rights, Social Development and Environmental Foundation (HURSDEF), CLEEN Foundation, Global Rights & Development International and Anambra Human Rights Forum. “We are therefore calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, conduct an independent and impartial investigation into these allegations, with a view to bringing the suspected perpetrators to justice in fair trials,” the civil society organisations said. Amnesty International Nigeria had on November 24, 2016, released a damning report cataloguing violations including extra-judicial executions, enforced disappearances, torture, unlawful arrest and detention of IPOB members and supporters across the country. Contacted on the development, Army Deputy Director of Public Relations, 82 Division Enugu, Col. Musa Sagir, said he would not like to join issues with the groups The organisation’s research concluded that between August 2015 and August 2016, Nigeria’s security forces led by the military killed at least 150 people. “The exact number is likely to be much higher,” the Amnesty International said. “We the undersigned are calling on the government of Nigeria to immediately end the involvement of the military in public order operations throughout Nigeria. The governors of Abia, Anambra, Delta and Rivers states should set up judicial commissions of inquiry to investigate the allegations documented in Amnesty International’s report,” the CSOs said in their statement. “We expected the Nigerian authorities to take the necessary steps to ensure that these allegations are vigorously investigated. We are however, disappointed that there have been no serious steps to hold suspected perpetrators into account,” the statement said. http://m.guardian.ng/news/42-rights-organisations-seek-probe-into-alleged-repression-of-pro-biafra-activists/ |
Buhari is an unwelcome guest in the SE, what we need is economic plan. Our region is secured enough. Buhari can take his security to sambisa or brown roof republic, we will develop our region by ourself. |

- Sixteen members of the European parliament have asked the European Union High Commission to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari on the detention of Nnamdi Kanu - The MEPs called for independent investigation into the alleged killing, torture and illegal arrest of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra by security operatives. 16 members of European parliament have asked EU high Comission to challenge President Buhari, DSS over Nnamdi Kanu's detention Some members of the European parliament (MEP) have risen in support of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu. The MEPs – 16 in number – in a joint letter have asked the European Union High Commission to take action on human rights abuses against members of the IPOB. The letter addressed to the High Representative and vice president of the EU high commission Federica Mogherini said the unlawful detention of Kanu and the violence against IPOB members by Nigerian government must be looked into. The letter which was dated Monday, December 19, said Kanu has been illegally imprisoned since October 14, 2015, despite being acquitted of all charges brought against him by the Department of State Services. It was signed by Julie Ward, Ana Gomes, Bart Staes, Beatriz Becerra, Brando Benifei, Catherine Stihler, Ernest Urtasun, Eva Joly and Hilde Vautmans. Others signatories to letter include: Jude Kirton-Darling, Kati Piri, Miapetra, Kumpula-Natri, Michèle Rivasi, Nessa Childers, Pascal Durand and Philippe Lamberts. The letter read in parts: “The authorities accused Kanu and his two co-defendants, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, of trying to overthrow the Nigerian head of state by broadcasting secessionist propaganda on the underground media outlet Radio Biafra, which campaigns for the independence of Biafra from Nigeria. Kanu, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi deny all charges brought against them.” “On 19th October in Abuja, the Chief Magistrate, Honourable Shuaibu, discharged Kanu of all criminal charges including the allegation of managing and belonging to an unlawful society, criminal intimidation and of criminal conspiracy. Shuaibu granted Kanu bail, of which all the conditions were met, but the Department of State Services refused to release him,” the letter said. The MEPs said charges of criminal conspiracy, engaging in unlawful society and criminal intimidation were then withdrawn on December 16, 2015, but still Kanu, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi have not been released. “On 17th December 2015, Justice Adeniyi Ademola ordered the unconditional release of Kanu from the custody of the Department of State Security Services, but this was not enacted. “Kanu’s counsel has since appealed to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to help ensure his safe release, but to no avail. A court case on 5th October 2016 was later adjourned to 8th November, which has now been amended to 9th February 2017, due to the Nigeria Department of State Services failure to bring Kanu to court,” it said. It also accused the Nigerian government of sending warnings to the ECOWAS community court sitting in Abuja not to intervene in Kanu’s continued detention and trial. READ ALSO: JUST IN: Nnamdi Kanu's secret trial, judge under FIRE! “It is clear that the fundamental human rights of Kanu, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi are being grossly violated. Human Rights Watch have reported of the violation of the defendants’ rights, including their right to a fair trial. “What is more, the Nigerian Government is also reportedly violating the human rights of Biafran activists. Scores of Biafrans are in detention for attempting to hold or participate in peaceful assemblies,” the letter added. It further accused the Nigerian government and security forces of using excessive force against pro-Biafran activists who have embarked on peaceful protest in Nigeria. Referring to Amnesty International’s reports on cases of arrests, disappearance and torture of IPOB members by security operatives, the MEPs said, it is unfortunate that no investigations have been carried out. READ ALSO: PHOTO NEWS: Strange men who supported Nnamdi Kanu in court “The right to peaceful assembly and association, as well as the right of freedom of expression, is protected by the Nigerian constitution. International human rights standards also require that law enforcement officials must, as far as possible, apply nonviolent means. “It is clear that the Nigerian authorities are not operating with respect to the Nigerian constitution or the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights. The letter also said: “On behalf of the European Union, especially in respect to the EU-Nigeria partnership, the Nigeria EU Joint Way Forward, the developments of the 6th Nigeria-EU ministerial dialogue and the fact that Nigeria is a recipient of EU aid, we call upon you to: "Advocate for the immediate and safe release of Nnamdi Kanu and co-defendants Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi," READ ALSO: Secret trial: 5 things Nnamdi Kanu said about Buhari, number 2 sounds ABOMINABLE (video) They also called on the EU High Commission to challenge the actions of the President Muhammadu Buhari, and the DSS in regards to the detention of Kanu, Madubugwu and Nwawuisi. They called for an impartial investigation into the arrest, enforced disappearance, torture and killing of supporters and members of various pro-Biafran groups and denounce the unacceptable violence against Biafran supporters by Nigerian security forces. They also urged the EU to do more to push the Nigerian government to safeguard human rights in Nigeria by calling for guarantees on the freedom of expression of all Nigerian citizens, including their right to protest without harm, and the termination of violence towards Biafrans. https://www.naij.com/1078487-biafra-16-members-european-parliament-eu-challenge-buhari-dss.html |

THE Nigerian military yesterday said that its exercise python dance is not targeted at the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualization for Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) as being speculated. In a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Awka and signed by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Colonel Sagir Musa, the army said the fear being expressed by some people about the development was unfounded. Musa said that similar operations had earlier been launched in other parts of the country. He added that the exercise was launched based on recent security challenges, not only in Igbo land, but the entire country. The statement from the army read in part: “Exercise PYTHON DANCE is not targeted at any individual or group of people. “It is purely a Command Post and Field Training Exercises, as a way of enhancing troops preparedness across spectrum of contemporary security challenges peculiar to the South East Region. “For emphasis and clarity, Exercise PYTHON DANCE is not targeted at MOSSOB/IPOB or any individual or group” “It is only a Field Training Exercise that is designed to where necessary dovetail into real time activities, such as anti- kidnapping drills, patrols, raids, cordon and search, check points, road locks and show of force. “This is with the aim of checkmating anticipated rising wave of crimes usually prevalent during the Yuletide period. “Recall that similar exercises were successfully conducted in different regions of Nigeria. For instance, Ex SHIRIN HARBI was conducted from 17 – 19 April 2016 in 3 Division Area of Responsibility (AOR) to take care of the insurgency, cattle rustling and other Sunday crimes in the North East region. Similarly, Ex HARBIN KUNAMA was held in 1 Division AOR from 9 – 15 July 2016 to rid the North West region of banditry, insurgency and Cattle rustling among other menaces. “Also, Ex CROCODILE SMILE was conducted from 5 – 10 September 2016 in the Niger Delta region with an overarching aim of reducing incidences of illegal bunkering, oil theft, sea piracy and other peculiar criminalities across the entire region. These exercises were in all standards successful.” The statement also said that “In the same vein, Ex PYTHON DANCE has been planned for the South East region from 27 November – 27 December 2016. The prevalent security issues, such as armed robbery, banditry, kidnappings, herdsmen – farmers clashes, communal clashes and violent secessionist attacks among other security threats in the Region would be targeted.” It enjoined members of the public to disregard the unfounded fear and allegations orchestrated by ill-meaning individuals and groups that the exercise is ‘ a plot to kill IPOB members. “This assertion is not only insidious and mischievous, but is also devious and bunkum and should be disregarded please,” the statement read. TheEastActivist:Thank you dear! I don't even know whats wrong with all this afonjas. The hate in them has totally blinded their eyes from the truth. My prayer for them is that they will be denied justice when their own time comes. Amen |
Israeljones:Typical of afonja! |
Israeljones:If you cann't comprehend when the court has taken a final decision on an issue, how will you understand the rule of law. The case of wheter to allow secret trial or not has been adjorned to Dec. 13 and you are here talking rubbish. Please, tear away joor. Because I won't have time to reply you again. |
Israeljones:I think you are the one that need to be schooled on this issue. Let me dissect the lies you peddle one by one: 1) What are those facts tabled against him that justified his arrest? Was he armed? 2) For your information Nnamdi Kanu was granted bail twice and not once as you claimed. 3) He was never bailed and rearrested rather he was denied bail against his fundermental right. 4) For your information the judge has not rule on the issue of masking witness but adjorn the hearing to Dec. 13. Next time always get your facts before commenting. . . |
I think I cann't just keep quiet why injustice is meted out on my fellow human being because, nobody knows whose turn it will be next. Nnamdi Kanu was arrested by DSS last year when he arrived Nigeria from London . Having been extrajudicially detained for more than 24hrs, he was later brought before a court in Abuja that granted him bail (under stringent condition). He fulfilled the bail term and was not released by DSS because he -Nnamdi Kanu- REFUSED TO DENY BIAFRA. This denial of Nnamdi Kanu bail after fulfilling the bail condition lead to peaceful protest by IPOB in the Eastern Region in which the military opened fire on them. This lead to the death of a good number of them. MAY THEIR SOUL REST IN PEACE. AMEN After spending further months extrajudicially in DSS custody, he was later sued before the Federal High Court in Abuja for terrorism. The judge - Justice Ademola- later granted him unconditional bail for his release and quash all the charges against him. Yet, the DSS denied him bail because 'HE ONCE AGAIN REFUSED TO DENY BIAFRA. This lead Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer to file a case against Nigeria at ECOWAS court. Now supprisingly to everyone, rather than for the DSS to obey biding court order, they went to another court and file a case aginst Nnamdi Kanu bodering on treasonable felony. Having realised how they have been sorely defeated in open court the DSS is now requesting for SECRET TRIAL AND MASKING OF WITNESS in a despirate bid to jail Nnamdi Kanu. Having described the ealier sceranio in Nnamdi Kanu's trail. I therefore, state the following reasons while Nnamdi Kanu should NOT be secretly tried: 1) IPOB is not a armed group. IPOB is registered in over 100 countries of the world and likewise under UN and uptill now no country has ban IPOB or sees them as a treat excerpt Nigeria, who in a failed bid has tried to tarnish IPOB'S image unsuccessfully. 2) No one has ever been attacked talkless of been killed for speaking against IPOB, BIAFRA OR NNAMDI KANU. There are alot of people from SE, SS and some high ranking politicians, businessmen, pastors, actors (e.g Iwuayanwu, Kenneth Okonkwo and Ohaneze ndigbo etc ) that have all spoken against IPOB and none of them has been killed. So I wonder how the DSS witness will be singled out and hunted down, while no such incidence had ever occured in the past. 3) The Fg has all the state security apparatus like the military, airforce, navy, police, civil defence at her disposal and can guarantee absolute security to any of there witnesses. Even if they like they can hire foreign mercenery from SAUDI ARABIA. 4) Buhari has openly said in the last media chat that people like Nnamdi Kanu and Dasuki dose not deserve bail. This statement is enough to suggest some siniter motive about secret trial. In conclussion, I think for justice to prevail all witnessess must be made public and not masked. |
May God bless #BIAFRA and strengthen #NNAMDI_KANU. |

By Emman Ovuakporie & Johnbosco Agbakwuru ABUJA—THE absence of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB; Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the authorities of the Nigerian Army, yesterday, stalled the public hearing on the murder of unarmed youths suspected to be members of IPOB during the pro-Biafra commemoration of events in Onitsha, Anambra State. This is as the burial of the late Lt. Col. Abu Ali, who was recently ambushed and killed by Boko Haram insurgents alongside four other soldiers, also made the House Committee on Army postpone hearings on the killing in Ogoniland. Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has stated that the hearing was meant to allow for greater interrogation and analysis of the issues and clarification of matters so that the House would be able to take further legislative action. Dogara, who was represented by the Deputy Chief Whip, Pally Iriase, said: “Legislative public or investigative hearings are not intended to witch-hunt anyone. They are essentially meant to bring out the truth, the facts beyond the posturing and propaganda.” Recall that the House had in a resolution mandated its Committees on Human Rights, National Security and Intelligence to investigate the alleged killing of protesting members of IPOB and MASSOB by security personnel. At the commencement of the investigative hearing yesterday, Chairman, House Committee on Army, Rep Rimamande Shawulu, announced that IPOB and MASSOB had informed the Committee that the letter inviting them to the public hearing got to them late and pleaded that they should be given one week’s notice. www.vanguardngr.com/2016/11/massob-ipobs-absence-stall-reps-hearing-killing-civilians/ |
Biafra is moving forward. Shame to all haters! |
The Nigerian government and security forces should respect pro-Biafrans' right to hold peaceful protests, a rights group has claimed. Pro-Biafrans are calling for the independence of contested Biafran territories forcibly annexed to Nigeria during British colonisation. Human Rights Watch (HRW) called on Nigeria to allow possible protests and marches on 14 October, which marks the first anniversary since the arrest of pro-Biafran leader Nnamdi Kanu. "The supporters of Nnamdi Kanu are likely to mark the anniversary of his arrest with protests. Nigerian authorities, rather than invoking the heavy-handed tactics they have used on pro- Biafra protesters in the past, should protect their right to peaceful protest," HRW said in a statement. Gradually we are getting there. |
A catholic priest of Ahiara Diocese in Imo state, Rev. Fr. Ben Ogu, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is “involved with the greatest corruption with the lives of the people” for staying aloof while the lives of the people he is supposed to protest are being maimed and massacred. Ogu lamented the massacre, kidnap and killings of innocent people of Nimbo and Attakwu in Enugu state , and the kidnap of a Catholic priest in Anambra, stressing that the continued menace of Fulani herdsmen particularly across Enugu and Anambra states is as a result of the lack of focus and seriousness of the President and governors of the South East. He also noted that church leaders from the zone do not show enough commitment to the protection of the lives of the people. In an interview with ThisDay, the cleric blamed President Buhari for not taking serious action against the armed herdsmen over the killings of innocent people over time. He said, “Prosecuting them would give Nigerians some measure of trust on their president, instead of his avowed chasing of non-violent Biafra agitators and Avengers who are only fighting for their rights. “I’m also shocked that the President of the nation has not prosecuted anybody yet he is busy pursuing the non-violent agitators of Biafra and the Avengers who are agitating for their rights. It therefore shows that if nothing is done about the whole issue, the people in question have the right to defend themselves and their religion.” Condemning the action of Catholic Bishops and other church leaders who frequent Aso Rock Villa, Fr. Ogu said, “I expect the church leaders to speak out and follow up by condemning the way their people are being kidnapped and killed by religious jihadist who masked as armed herdsmen. “Let them stop going to Abuja to congratulate Buhari on the way he is fighting corruption; even when he is involved with the greatest corruption with the lives of the people. They should tell Buhari that it is enough that people are decimated and he is not putting any law or measure across to stop the herdsmen menace. “I see our religious leaders, both catholic bishops and pastors as people who are so comfortable and conscious of their lives that they seem to think that everything is alright when people are suffering on daily basis. They have not spoken enough. In fact they should show some anger. “Also, the South East governors are not free from any complicity as their people are massacred and they are comfortable doing nothing about it. They are not fit to stay on seat and watch their people being killed and maimed. The youths of the zone have the right to question their governors and leaders of what they are doing about the situation. “The security agencies are also to blame as they seem to also taken sides with the herdsmen by closing their eyes and allowing the people to be killed and kidnapped with reckless abandon. I am charging them to show that everybody is so important and needs protection,” he stated. http//:www.dailypost.ng/2016/10/02/stop-chasing-non-violent-biafra-agitators-prosecute-fulani-herdsmen-catholic-priest-tells-buhari/ |

NNAMDI KANU SACKS LAWYERS FOR SPEAKING AGAINST NIGER DELTA AVENGERS AND MISLEADING THE PUBLIC OVER NEGOTIATIONS WITH GOVERNMENT Following the press conference earlier today by our legal team, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Worldwide has been reliably and incontrovertibly informed that some of the utterances of their defence lawyers were made without consultation. These utterances border on negotiations and some were against the Niger Delta Avengers. As as a result of this unsolicited and unguarded utterances, the defence team has been sacked and will be replaced. The IPOB leader wishes to state categorically that the only thing we are open to is negotiations that will lead to modalities and processes to restore Biafra and avert further hardships on the people of Nigeria who have been under bondage since his kidnapping and illegal detention. The Niger Delta Avengers arose because of the inherent injustice in Nigeria as manifested in the disregard to the rule of law when Buhari refused to obey court order to unconditionally release our leader, Nnamdi Kanu. We spoke the mind of our leader when we stated for record purposes that IPOB and Niger Delta Avengers share the same ideology of freedom for Biafra. Anybody publicly dissociating IPOB from Niger Delta Avengers is a mortal enemy of IPOB family worldwide under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu. Let it be known that as long as Buhari and Daura continue to tamper with Nnamdi Kanu‘s defence team through bribery, inducements and intimidation, IPOB will keep on changing the team. For the records, the press conference by the now-sacked legal team was about bringing to public knowledge the foolishness of the Department of State Services (DSS) in bringing treasonable felony charges against our leader and the lack of evidence thereof. The press conference was NEVER about negotiations because should negotiations start, IPOB will notify the world about it. Right now, we are not negotiating and will not negotiate until existing court orders ordering the release of Nnamdi Kanu are obeyed. In the interim, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor will continue to act as lead counsel until other counsels are appointed who will not sell their souls to the devil. Biafra or death!!!
