I am sorry, I can't remember the reason why you are particular about Manitoba province, but don't be rigid about the university or province. You will be surprised at the number of opportunities available out there. Some courses/program wouldn't require a GMAT or TOEFL.

Also, if there is a particular program you intend applying to and may seem you're not qualified for based on your current degree - then i will suggest you try Ontario Graduate Certificate Programs that can eventually make it easier for you to apply to your desired program in Manitoba. You can also use same to apply for your PR before your Masters.

All the best!

Hello everyone,

My undergraduate background has nothing to do with technology, but I am currently working as an IT support specialist in Germany and I would like to continue my studies in Canada, but this time I would like to take an IT course.

Please, is this possible for me.

I have also applied to some colleges in Ontario but my status is "no decision".

I would also appreciate if someone could add me to a whatsapp group.

Hi Omoboriowo,
Straight to the point - No Decision simply means the College hasn't decided yet.

The waiting period feels the longest and I know exactly how it feels.

Since you're currently working in the IT industry, then I think you're in the right direction.

However, your SOP must reflect how your current work experience has influenced your decision to pursue the program. Also, you've to link it to what you intend doing after the program (i cannot exhaust the points in this comment).

My advices -
1) Apply to more than one school (maybe a university and college)
2) If possible apply to programs that has a co-op/practicum
3) Prepare a strong graduate cv and sop

There's an Ontario based Educational Firm (email: contact@1grad.ca) that offers free services except if you need their assistance in statement of purpose and graduate cv write-ups.

Wishing you the best!

Hi Bro,
Give consideration to the following before making the choices
- Can I get a co-op/practicum during the program?
- Can I get a job after this program?
- If it it is difficult to get a job, will the program make it easy for me to switch/pivot within months into a Management/Consulting/Community related jobs etc?
- Are there abundant job offers related to the program in the province?

Check out the following courses:

- Adult Education and Human Resource Development (AHRD) - University of Regina
- MA in Leadership Studies - University of Victoria, British Columbia

However, since you are willing to pivot - then I will be inclined to ask which area of study would you consider (Management, Business etc). This will guide appropriately in the choice program, statement of purpose and visa application process.

Your statement of purpose has to be carefully written (that is your biggest joker to appeal to the admission committee). Appeal in this context doesn't mean "beg."
You have to craft it in a way to mention your low grade but without excuse. You have to display that you were faced with some dauting issues and yet you pulled through. You have to own it and display courage to go into the future with the lessons you have learnt in the past. You have to write about your passion without using the word passion in itself.

An Ontario based Educational Partner assisted a friend too (email : contact@1grad.ca). Surprisingly, they didn't ask for a dime (they offer free services) except you want them to re-write your graduate cv and statement of purpose. They even gave out free samples of sop, cv and templates.

Wishing you the best bro.... reach out if you need more guidance.

Hi Bola01234,
You can consider some programs such as:
MSc Supply Chain Management - University of Manitoba - September intake (colder province)

Masters of Management Logistics and Supply Chain Management - University of Windsor - September and January intake (laidback town)

International Business Management - Ontario College Graduate Certificate (1Year and can be used to apply for your Permanent Residency) -
https://www.mohawkcollege.ca/programs/graduate-studies/international-business-management-116 (highly competitive province + opportunities)

However, there're other questions that would have guided me more appropriately .... such as
When did you obtain your HND?
Are you well prepared to write a convincing SOP (no excuses in your write-up, projecting your motivations, pitch your profile e.t.c.?
Primary purpose of a graduate study (permanent residency-japa e.t.c.)

A friend of mine used an Educational Firm in Canada (email: contact@1grad.ca) and it was a positive experience. They actually offered all the process for free, except when he wanted someone in the firm to write his Statement of Purpose for him.

Most of my contributions are a mixed of the material shared from the firm and personal experiences too - (https://www.1grad.ca/post/5-major-considerations-for-selecting-the-right-master-s-degree-program-in-canada-2022)

Hi Adeniyi02,
1) I'll advise you apply to Management/Business related courses
2) apply for Management programs with Co-op/Practicum/experiential/internship
3) check universitystudy.ca or 1grad.ca ( they have the programs listed out by province, co-op opportunities e.t.c)
4) prepare for graduate interview
5) write a strong statement of purpose and professional graduate cv

For me, PG Cert in a College is a non-starter based on your years of experience.

Hi @ Elmemeoflagos,
You can apply to a number of masters program without a 2.1cgpa.

However, I've read some comments that suggested that you should apply for PG in a College. It is a nice advise, but certainly not the only way.

I had 2.89cgpa in my first degree and got admitted to the almighty Queen's University in Canada for my Master's degree.

The following steps could help:
1, are you willing to pivot into a different career/field?
2, what was your previous degree(s)?
3, in what field/industry have you been working?

With the above questions answered, I will be able to guide you to about 3 programs you can apply to.

There're far many factors that can make your applications competitive beyond an "ordinary cgpa".

I've walked your path and will advise you based on personal experience.
