Tinubuadvocate:
So all the way from east you can't find a legitimate work but to stealing people properties they should deport them back to where they are from.

They are many. Kudos to Nigerian police officer.

It is not a matter of opinion here. There is a clear difference between having an opinion and having only negative comments and insults to offer. It is giving bad belle, learn to stop it. "Essential travel" maybe there is still covid-19 travel restrictions where you are, because I do not understand what you mean essential. So if I am travelling for a wedding, it is up to you or another person to deem it essential? Please don't comment on what you do not know next time and don't insult others. Thank you
Solatium:
What a myopic reasoning, accounts should be banned because the opinion does not align with your myopic reasoning? Some of you will be worse that all the dictators of these world if you have a fraction of those power's they posses.
Since comprehension is your Problem,i will say it for the last time.
Essential travel is the key word here may be that can sink into your numb skull.

Thank you for your kind response and advise. I definitely believe that it is either some serious backlog like you say or maybe an error as I have just received an email to check my junk (nothing in there yet) so I am remaining hopeful.

Sadly some people only care to be the bearer of bad news. If it is good news then they are uninterested and move on to other topics that they can freely spew their negativity. It is a very sad mindset to have.

Thanks again.

Hi @Greenhold, kindly ignore this fellow and his mentality. One of the biggest advice I've been given is to make use of my SA study visa and travel round the world, get my passport stamped. I am working on it. My friend here has been to at least 4 countries including the US and Europe on her SA study visa.
I am very sure that it's the normal visa backlog, and your visa will be out soon. Welcome to South Africa (in advance..lol)

Meanwhile, that daddy guy and pufframmy, is it impossible to ban them from this visa thread? They never have any help to render or any thing good to say, always insulting SA and mocking people with Visa troubles.

Students travel all the time for a million reasons you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. It is unfair to spread misinformation with so much confidence.

Junketing around the globe and drug route. You must be joking. People like you should never be seen near any embassy looking for work.
Solatium:
Obviously you don't get it,as a student you are expected to sit back and study not junketting around the globe, even when you are travelling it has to be an essential travel and not to DRUG ROUTE like South Africa

I had my flight ticket and hotel booked already which I attached with my application. I was also only planning to stay there for 4 days maximum and my bank statement showed that I had the means to pay for my trip and my stay there for that time. The lady at the embassy confirmed that this account balance was very okay.

By all means they can do a thorough research but I don’t believe finances should be the issue. How long can the research possibly take. They do say that people from Uk should have a balance of £600 at least and I had more than that.

You are currently a student and want to fly to SA from UK, a journey of well over 11hrs that might cost you over £1k? who is financing your trip?
You have given them every reason to hold your passport and conduct a thorough background check on you and your host.
Even if Visa approved you still need to be very careful of such Travel.

Currently going through this and I share your pain. I applied on the 3rd of this month, the lady that attended to me at the vfs office in London assured me that I will get it by the 17th or 18th as short stay visit from UK wouldn't take long to process. Today is 25th and nothing. What I am meant to be travelling for takes place on the 2nd of April. I was planning to travel on the 29th but at thus rate i do not believe it will be possible again. I have tracked and tracked. Sent emails. No useful information other than "wait" it is very unfortunate
AGMAMA:
Meanwhile it’s already 2months since I applied for tourist visit. No update at all
VFS are clueless
Meanwhile they should have notified people on their website that it will take this long so we don’t have to bother if we can’t wait
This is very unfair and frustrating
Will they now used expired hotel booking and flight reservation after their delay
It’s becoming so unfair
No update email, just silence
Na wa o!

Please did you end up getting the visa?
WrathJustified:
I just sent a mail. But do those mails go to the embassy. I think it just goes to the intermediaries not to the embassy guys direct. Anyway, I have sent the mail
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Greenhold:
Good day everyone. I am a Nigerian passport holder, however I am currently a resident in UK under student/ graduate route visa. I applied for the short stay tourist south African visa here in London on the 3rd of March. My original intended date of travel is 29th of March and it is for a cousins wedding ceremony to take place on the 2nd of April. To leave SA on the following day 3rd of April.

I was assured by the lady who attended to me at the Vfs embassy that I should be expecting my visa around the 17th or 18th as it normally does not take more than 2 weeks or 15 days to get a response for this kind of visa. She asked me not to worry about getting it on time as I have more than enough time (i explained to her why i was applying just 4 weeks before intended departure)

Today is Friday the 25th of march and I am yet to get any information concerning my passport or visa. The tracking code given to me only shows "Your application is received and under assessment at the Embassy/Consulate General of South Africa." Their phone number never goes through. I even emailed them and they could not give me additional information apart from to wait till they get back to me. I am worried now and wanted to know if anyone here has any other options I could take or what I should be expecting at this point. Kindly advise.
