Imo state banned okada during okorocha tenure but in the last few years okada has returned to Owerri as a major means of transportation. Cities of Onitsha, Enugu, Awka and even Abakaliki, Asaba, etc has banned okada and maintained it but the ban failed in imo state due to rise in poverty and lack basic infrastructures .

That Owerri don gulp all capital devt funds of Imo state and federal govts funds since 1976. No other town in Imo was allowed to see devt. Strange: 11 federal and state housings in Imo all in Owerri.
