Crime › Re: Nigerian Woman 'Runs Mad’ After Allegedly Confessing To K!lling Her Friend by guidelight: 6:16am On May 03 |
Nwaikpe: This is how events in Africa unfold: 1. A random thing happens to someone, and he blames it on another by making something happen to that person. 2. The victim now sees what happens and tries to fight back, 3. The circle continues until one or both go down.
Betwixt: What of the person who harmed the fried (if at all she was harmed), had as part of the package, "a friend confessing and running mad?"
It is only in Africa, Nigeria specifically, that people run mad for confessing, rather than being set free by it. The real culprit is surely by the side. You have a good power of observation. So apt! |

I read Kperogie's post on INEC Chairman and also read your post here but I cannot decipher how Kperogie is a jaundiced writer as posited by OP. Please kindly point to facts to support your view on Kperogie's writings. If you had read the article, you would have seen that he supported his postulations about Amupitan with specific facts. Begging you OP to do the same.
NB : Kperogie is from Niger State not Kwara. |

That's why a Prussian Soldier's Helmet is more appropriate for a chief thug. |

pocohantas: I always thought dowry is what is paid for the groom, as in India. But going by your explanation - dowry in my place is what we call IDU ULO. It is a compulsory gift from the bride's family to the bride and the standard is kitchen wares and baby items. If the bride's family has a lot of money, then you can see items like refrigerator, big gas cooker and oven...etc.
In the past my mum said they were always given sewing machines. So I guess the items are modified to meet the times.
I am surprised people are casting aspersions on Southern women because many places in Igboland practise this. I wouldn't know why it doesn't get as much noise as the marriage list. You are right , it's practiced in Igboland. However Dowry does not attract much noise like the marriage list because it has no village or community standard. It's according to individual family discretion or financial capacity. The bride's family determines what is suitable according to their means . |
