Sjvictor21: It had always been difficult applying from ukraine. I made a call to the embassy while I was in school and i was told that as long as I have a Nigerian passport and i have never applied for a USA visa before. That it's better I apply from my home country for my first visa and consecutive visas can follow in any other country where I'm based. I already have my result and a letter from my university stating that I'm a student studying in their University. Besides, i really do not have any tie in ukraine. I only study there. Concerning the amount stated above, is it too small?
It's standard practice for an applicant to apply for a visa in their country of origin. This has nothing to do with holding a Nigerian passport: this has been required of our clients that are Indian, Filipino and even British. In all of my years in this business, I have yet so see where a visa process is initiated outside of the applicant's country of origin UNLESS they have legal authorization to reside within the country from which they lodge their application. If you're truly interested in getting a USA tourist visa, keep calm and don't force a square peg into a round hole: the advice you received was golden 'APPLY IN NIGERIA'! Either way, good luck.

extrovert6: As a graduate of Animal Science, and a masters holder, can I have a well paid job in TT
If you're looking for a job overseas, I'd suggest your try Brazil or (because of your qualifications) a country that has a Cargill office. Getting a visa for TT is very easy but unless you're going for rest and relaxation, think carefully about what you'll do once in country. Good luck!

It's always so sad to read about such behavior. OP, I hope you're able to get back up, dust yourself off and try again; maybe another country is meant for your! Visa consulting does work but you have to be careful when choosing your agent/agency. It takes time and effort to cultivate the relationship with your contact(s) AND with your client; asking for money (and even worse, providing it) upfront should always be a red flag.

Outside of the application fee that you pay to the Embassy/Consulate, the mobilisation should be the only amount leaving your pocket before you go for your interview. Always remember: asking for references or any other proof that your agent/agency has continued success is acceptable and nothing to cause concern between both parties. If your agent/agency refuses to be forthcoming on certain things RUN! Visa consulting is a business that is continuous and the services cost money but the resulting product can be worth it; no agent/agency worth their salt will cut corners or try and bully a client into parting with money before the appropriate time. Use sense and good luck!!
