Education / WAEC Gives Reasons There Is Mass Failure In 2018 May/june WASSCE Result by Gurusboi: 12:39pm On Jul 17, 2018

The Public Relations Officer of the West African Examination Council, WAEC, in Ghana, Agnes Teye Cudjoe, has revealed two factors responsible for mass failure in English in the 2018 WASSCE result.

She said the Chief Examiner’s Report attributed the massive failure to the use of Pidgin language and short-hand by students.

Provisional results released by WAEC showed that 99, 402 which represents (31%) obtained D7-E8 in the English Language, 94, 607 which represents (30. 09%) obtained D7-E 8 in Mathematics, and109, 069 which represents (34.72%) also obtained D7-E8 in Integrated Science.

68, 002, representing 21.61%, obtained F9 in English Language; 99 , 275 (31.58 %), obtained F9 in Mathematics; and 46, 367, representing 14. 76%, had F9 in Integrated Science.

Appearing on Ghanaian Atinka 104.7 FM yesterday, Agnes pointed out that although 2018 WASSCE saw an increase in the passes in Science compared to 2018, there was a total drop in passes in English and Maths.

She added that the 2018 Chief Examiners Report informed WAEC of a lack of vocabulary in the
scripts of most of the candidates.

The 2018 Chief Examiners Report has recommended extensive reading for the students to help students build their vocabulary.

“You would agree with me that these days, our candidates hardly read, everybody is busy doing WhatsApp and all that. If students spend more time reading very good books, textbooks, Literature and English book,s they will improve and have command of the English Language.

According to MadamTeye Cudjoe, the report also urged teachers to give students more exercises on spelling drills, comprehension and summary to help students improve their vocabulary.

“With respect to Mathematics, the 2018 Chief Examiners report revealed that the major challenge for the candidates was as a result of their inability to translate story problems into mathematical statements.

Politics / Fayemi’s Victory Shows Nigerians Still Love Buhari – GOGAN by Gurusboi: 1:58pm On Jul 16, 2018

As reactions continue to trail the just concluded governorship election in Ekiti State, the Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria, GOGAN, has described the outcome of the contest as an indication that Nigerians still love Buhari and would queue behind him in 2019.

The group said the victory of Fayemi Kayode of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the poll showed that 2019 would favour the ruling party.

DAILY POST reports that Fayemi floored his closest rival, Olusola Kolapo to win the keenly contested Guber election after polling 197,459 while the latter garnered 178,114 votes.

GOGAN described the victory as a triumph of the people’s will against propaganda and blackmail.

In a statement issued in Abuja, GOGAN Chairman/CEO, Chief Felix Idiga says the victory was a manifestation of the positive impact of the President Buhari-led administration at the grassroots.

Idiga noted that, the victory in Ekiti was a signal of President Buhari’s triumph in the 2019 general elections.

His words, “This is a sign that President Buhari is loved by Nigerians, he will win the 2019 Presidential elections with a landslide victory because the common Nigerians are fully with him”.

“Look at the result from the Ekiti governorship election, amidst all the drama, the APC cruise to victory, it is a sign of President Buhari’s victory.

“I enjoin all Nigerians to continue to keep faith with President Muhammad Buhari GCFR and his administration.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Dr Kayode Fayemi on his victory at the Ekiti State governorship election.

Reacting, Buhari in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Femi Adesina, commended INEC and all security agencies for a free and fair election.

Sports / World Cup 2018: Varane Makes History In France’s 4-2 Win Over Croatia by Gurusboi: 1:17pm On Jul 16, 2018

France defender, Raphael Varane on Sunday made history in his side’s 4-2 victory over Croatia in the 2018 World Cup final fixtures played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia.

Mario Mandzukic and Ivan Perisic goals were not enough as goals from Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe ensured that the Les Blues claimed their second World Cup trophy after winning their first in 1998 on home soil.

Varane, who was solid at the defence line for Didier Deschamps’ men, became the first player to start the World Cup final and the Champions League final and win both since Brazil legend, Roberto Carlos in 2002.

Recall that the 25-year-old won the Champions League with his club side, Real Madrid when the Spanish giants beat Liverpool 3-1 in the final in May this year.

Speaking after the game, Varane told reporters, “It’s been a great season for me. I don’t realise what I am living through. It is something enormous and fantastic.

“My career began spectacularly, and now at 25, I’ve won the World Cup. I have no words for what I feel. I hope this continues.”

Sports / World Cup 2018: Mourinho Slams Sterling On Performance For England by Gurusboi: 2:13pm On Jul 15, 2018

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has slammed Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling for his World Cup performances after England finished fourth in Russia.

Mourinho said Sterling did not have a good World Cup after the former Liverpool winger struggle in front of goal all through the tournament.

Sterling has scored just twice for England in 44 games, his last coming in October 2015.

The former Chelsea boss said other players would have been better options for manager Gareth Southgate’s side, on their run to the semi-finals.

Mourinho told Russia Today, “He didn’t have a good enough World Cup to be chosen for a match ahead of [Jamie] Vardy, [Danny] Welbeck, [Marcus] Rashford–people with probably better condition from a physical and psychological point of view.”

The Portugal gaffer’s comment come after England lost 2-0 to Belgium and finished fourth in Russia.

THE CHOSEN ONE {the beast of GEVAUDAN} . . . . . . …..Episode 2….. . . . . . . ……… I was losing consciousness little by little, I could hear all the metal and every lock inside the tomb unlocking, after losing hope, my palm released from the palm shape keyhole. Before I could take a step away from there, I fell down and everything blacked out. when I opened my eye, I was on a bed, I was surprised how a cemetery turned to a bed, I checked by my side and saw my mom sleeping beside me, I looked around and saw that I was inside an hospital, how did I got here was the first question that I asked myself, I saw my mom waking up and quickly tried to close my eye but it was too late as she has already know that have woken up, she called my name gently as she always do anytime she is worried about me, I answered with guilt in my heart, I knew that she will be damned worried about me. MOM : welcome around Ben (trying to hide the tear drop trying to drop from her eye ) ME : I couldn’t say anything, I just nodded my head to show that am listening to her. MOM : it has been up to a week that you have been admitted here when we came to pick you from the cemetery ME : what the hell, (i almost screamed ) I couldn’t believe what am hearing, how did you know that I was there (i asked faintly ) MOM : Victor called me and I in turn called the ambulance because he said you passed out ME : am sorry mum, it was unintentional,i didn’t mean to put you through this MOM : it’s okay son, we will talk it out when we get home ME : what of dad? MOM : you know he is on a mission in another country, but have called him and he promised to come home soon ME : on a mission (i exclaimed) on a mission or he is in the midst of his mistresses dining and wining with them (I said to myself, tho my dad is a private investigator and most of the time, he is always away, but am very sure that he has a lot of mistress, because that what can explain him leaving me and my mom sometimes for two months and sometimes more than that, I don’t even miss him ,he is just like a non existing person to me, as long as i gat my mom, I care for nothing less ) okay mom MOM : I will go and inform the doctor that you are now awake so that he can perform some test on you which he insist you must be awake before he can do so. ME : okay mom MUM : (she pecked me on my forehead and head out of my ward ) The memory of that day came flooding my memory, what was that about, i asked myself, i remembered the bite on my hand and checked it, I saw that nothing appeared on it but I felt something moving inside my body, I felt the urge to vomit and quickly head into the restroom inside my Ward, I opened the closet and vomit something undescribable inside it, I felt as if my stomach is on fire as I was vomiting it, it was not stopping and I couldn’t control it, after some time, it stopped and i felt a little bit relieved, I washed my mouth and tried to flush the closet, but to my utmost surprise, nothing was inside it. Was I hallucinating, or could it be the effect of what happened at the cemetery, I stand up and tried to move out of the restroom, just then, my eye caught the mirror placed on the wall of the restroom, my eye, my eye, my eye has different colour, it was reddishly dark, I tried to put my hands on my face, that was when I noticed that my finger nails is now trice of it size and sharper, I don’t know how but I was able to hear the voice of my mom walking towards my ward with the voice of a man which I conclude must be the doctor, as the footstep and voice was getting nearer, I quickly shut the door of the restroom. not wanting to be discovered in my new form. I checked the mirror again to be sure if it is not that am hallucinating, but my eye was still like that and my finger nails is now longer again, what is happening to me, I was not able to answer my question when I heard a knock on the door MOM : Ben are you alright? ME : (trying to sound normal ) yes mum (but it was like a little roaring ) MOM : (panicking ) are you sure you are alright son?? ME :

Sports / Drogba Reacts To Cristiano Ronaldo’s Move From Real Madrid To Juventus by Gurusboi: 1:05pm On Jul 15, 2018
Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba has reacted to Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo’s move from Real Madrid to Juventus.

Ronaldo is set to join the Serie A champions, after they agreed a stunning €112million deal with Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Juventus have announced that Ronaldo will be officially unveiled as their player on Monday.

However, Drogba has described Ronaldo’s move from La Liga to Serie A as exciting and perfect.

In an interview with La Stampa, Drogba said: “Amazed by Ronaldo’s transition from Real Madrid to Juventus? Not even a bit. It is perfect, exciting, so right that I was going to do it. ”

“I was a step away from Italy: I already thought I was there, the details were missing and then everything was evaporated and you’re not asking me the team, it’s useless to reopen the chapter.

“Even there was more than an offer and I was very interested so I understand perfectly Ronaldo.

“Will the transition from the La Liga to Serie A be brutal? Many say he should have stayed where he was and maybe for any other 33-year-old champion it would make sense.”

“Real is a giant team, with ambitions always at the highest levels, but he is one that feeds on motivations and above all at that age new challenges are needed.”

Politics / Ekiti Election: How APC Reacted To Fayemi’s Victory by Gurusboi: 12:43pm On Jul 15, 2018
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Dr. Kayode Fayemi on his election as the Governor of Ekiti State.

The party’s reaction was contained in a statement by Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary.

The Party noted that Dr. Fayemi ran an effective and positive campaign focused on his agenda of rebuilding the economy of the state and returning its lost values of integrity, prudence and decency.

APC commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, local and international observers, as well as other stakeholders, for their admirable role in making the Ekiti gubernatorial election one in which the people’s will has prevailed.

It added: “We thank the Ekiti electorate for voting en masse for our Party’s candidate. This is a demonstration of their trust and confidence in Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s ability to deliver on his campaign promises and a rejection of the crude and pedestrian politics of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We assure the people of Ekiti, and indeed all Nigerians, that our Party is best placed to move the country forward and resolve the seemingly intractable problems that have held us back.”
