Sports / Re: Saleh To Messi: You Are Greedy, Shedding Crocodile Tears by HabgitoTillers: 8:43am On Aug 10, 2021
This old man is only ignorant of the rules in La Liga. There is a regulation that does not allow players to sign new contracts below 50% of the previous contract with a club. Messi was offered 50% cut in a new contract by Barcelona. He accepted. With the 50% cut, it was not enough to register him for the new season as a Barca player. The club failed him.

Agriculture / The Tractor Tiller: Revolutionizing Agriculture by HabgitoTillers: 1:56pm On Jul 27, 2018
Farmers have cried for subsidized prices on the tractor to enable them to purchase it, but even when it is granted, they most times form a group and contribute money individually to purchase a unit which they take turns to use. This may lead to dispute among the farmers and takes a long time to pay back the loan.

There is a solution to this problem, the tractor tiller which is cheaper than the tractor. It is a very efficient means of enhancing mechanized agriculture. The tractor tiller is a mechanized device which is used for preparing the soil for planting. It breaks off into the soil to create loose topsoil which is ready for planting with the use of the tilling blades. The tractor tiller comes with an adjustable plough which is used for making ridges and to clear weeds while the crops are growing. It also comes with a water pump attachment for irrigation.

The tractor tiller is a cheaper alternative to the tractor, as farmers can afford to get one tiller per farm and forget about the herculean task that comes with manual labor. It makes cultivating and preparing the farmlands very easy and fast. It is also highly adjustable depending on your tilling needs (i.e. to suit the needs for many different types of crops, cereals to tubers, vegetables to cotton, groundnuts etc.

In recent years, Habgito Nigeria Limited has been supplying tractor tillers to farmers in all parts of Nigeria. We have collaborated with NIRSAL, SWOFON, PROPCOM -MAKARFI to reach out to small-scale farmers in the north, supply tillers and train them on how to operate the machine. This way farmers can worry less about cultivating and preparing their farmlands (which is one of the difficult parts of farming), as the tiller can now prepare their lands for them easily.

Agriculture / Ten Safety Hacks For Farmers by HabgitoTillers: 9:43am On Apr 12, 2018
Farmers always make the mistake of believing that they are not susceptible to danger in their farms (especially farmers who have been active for 10-15 years), this belief has led to avoidable accidents that cost lives and damage equipment. There is an acclaimed formula for safety on farms, which is;

Safety = Good Working Equipment + Capable and Attentive Operators

Another instance is when farmers spend on new machines, they pay attention to learning the basic operational and servicing techniques and make the mistake of not building the mentality of the operators and also failing to educate them on safety drills also.
Accidents on farms happen many times, not because the machine malfunctions but because the operators are either tired, distracted or unprepared.

We highlighted ten safety hacks you should employ whenever you are on your farm;

1. Dress appropriately: This is one of the steps to ensuring your safety on your farms. Make sure you wear your complete farming gear and boots irrespective of your mode of farming (Manual or Mechanical). This goes a long way in avoiding injuries.

2. Be in your best mental state: Ensure that you are well rested and mentally balanced before going to your farm to work. Many farmers have collapsed because they never get full rest before embarking on their farms to work. Avoid distractions, stay focused on your current task till you finish.

3. Store all chemicals in a safe place: Storing your chemicals in safe areas helps to reduce the risk of poisoning and fire outbreak. Most of these chemicals are poisonous and combustible and if they aren’t stored properly, there might be hazardous consequences.

4. Check your machine before operating: Make sure that before you start operating your machine, you check fuel and oil levels, nuts and bolts if they are properly screwed. Don’t forget to make proper alterations to your farm equipment to ensure they are properly conditioned for the day’s work.

5. Follow Federal and State Laws: Laws and policies made by the government to guide and protect farmers must be followed to the end especially by farmers. Following laws will help you to avoid fines which in turn helps to maintain proper flow of revenue.

6. Get all your safety gears in place: Fire extinguishers, First Aid Box and other safety equipment should be made available and accessible whenever work is being done on the farm. Like they say, “A stitch in time saves nine”.

7. Keep equipment in order: Ensure that your rakes, shovels, hoes and other farm equipment with sharp edges are properly positioned. Do not leave them on the floor carelessly.

8. Educate young farmers: Children should be equipped with basic safety knowledge as well as amateur farmers you just employed. Make sure everyone working on the farm is properly educated on-farm risks and trained in first aid.

9. Protect your ear: When operating machines on the farm, there is usually a high level of noise emanating from these machines. Wearing earpads is very important to protect damage to your ear.

10. Draw up an emergency plan: An emergency plan is vital. Make sure that you drill your workers through safety routines and what to do in case of emergencies. Draw up a route to the nearest hospital and regularly drill your workers on what to do during emergencies.

Taking these steps will help you scale on the right path towards safety when working on your farm. Paying attention and practicing them regularly will help you form a habit.

A habit that will save you from accidents.

Agriculture / Creating An Online Presence For Your Farm’s Business by HabgitoTillers: 12:56pm On Mar 07, 2018
The popular belief amongst farmers especially in West Africa is that they need to focus only on their farms. It is often rare to find a farmer in West Africa who is trendy, well informed and adept with the workings of social media today. Social media is being overlooked and seen as a source of distraction to these farmers and yes, it can be. We, however, understand that when the right strings are pulled, it can be an incredible tool for business growth.

It is no longer understandable when farmers say they are too busy to handle social media because it is now very flexible and easy to operate. You can schedule posts and platforms such as Facebook have bots that reply messages from prospective customers when you can't access your phones and computers, this is very important for farmers in West Africa who sometimes lose network access whenever they get to their farms usually located outside the town.

The advantages of being on social media outweigh the disadvantages by a mile and half and farmers should consider using these platforms specifically for their business growth.

We will take you step by step on how to use Social Media to take your farm's business to another level. Let's make a stop at Facebook, the first social media platform we would be writing on.

Facebook is a community with a large number of user estimated to be about two billion, it runs an advertising network for businesses trying to reach their customers online. Farmers can make use of this platform and widen the potentials of their business if used effectively.

Let's go step by step on how to create a space for your business on Facebook

PHASE ONE:
The first step is opening a page for your business. You will need to have graphics ready because you will be asked for your logo and a cover picture (you can hire a graphic designer for this, it shouldn't cost much). The graphics are needed to make your page distinct and unique. After filling the basics such as your page name, page description, and others.

You can jump to Phase Two.

PHASE TWO:
This is the part that requires your attention. Look around your farm and identify your unique selling points (USPs). Your USPs is most definitely your products, the crops you plant, harvest and sell.

After identifying your USPs, you can create engaging contents from them. It is very easy, you can easily take a picture of your tomato vegetation and create a post like "Juicy Tomatoes comes from well-bred vegetations. Well-bred vegetations are our signature".

After creating and posting contents created from your Farm's USPs. You can move to Phase Three.

PHASE THREE:
This phase involves advertising your content. There are too many users on Facebook and expecting your post to gain traction organically is a hard task. Facebook created an advertising network for businesses that want their content to continually reach a wide range of people.

As a farmer who is looking to promote his business online, you will need to advertise. Create a budget that doesn't eat too much into your products and advertise for a specific period.

You can advertise your page to gain more followers and attraction (this is more expensive) or advertise posts on your page to reach a wider range. Any option you choose is very important.

PHASE FOUR:

Monitoring growth and maintaining a high response rate with potential customers is what makes up phase four. After taking the steps mentioned in the three phases above, you will begin to notice growth and leads on your page.

If you want to turn your leads (inquiries) to conversions (sales), you will need to create a strong reputation for your brand online because you will get leads from different locations and personalities.

Creating a strong reputation means you need to respond to orders and complaints on time, so you can always leave your number on your page so prospective customers can contact you when you aren't online too.

You see, it isn't entirely difficult to have an online presence for your farm's business. We will move to other networks as the series continues, however, take the steps mentioned above into proper consideration and weigh your pros and cons.

You'll see your business is going to be better when it goes online.

PS: We will move to other platforms on the next article.

Agriculture / Steps To Increasing Revenue For Farmers by HabgitoTillers: 11:59am On Feb 02, 2018
Many farmers have thought about strategies they can take to maximize revenue, especially when they feel they should be earning more than they have. They usually employ strategies such as working harder by maximizing labor force and spending on supplements for their crops. It is sad that after application of these strategies, some records increase while some do not. In essence, getting great revenue yield from your farms requires concentration and dedication.

We will be sharing some advice for farmers on how to increase their revenue without much spending.

1. RECOGNIZING YOUR PROFIT DRIVERS
Many farmers are very skilled in their craft but poor in managing their business. We understand that when farmers pay key attention to what yields return to their business and learn how the application of variation can influence the profit yield, they usually have control over their returns.
Many factors influence the success of a farm, i.e. changes in price, cost of production, employment costs. Proper management of these factors will influence whether there will be greater profit yield or a low return on investments.

2. MANAGING EMPLOYEES
Workers who are happy or satisfied with their job always ensure that they give their all to their job. This factor is very integral to farm owners because it ensures high profitability.
Farm owners who get to relate to their workers offer perks and rest days will notice that their farm work is being done more with precision because their workers are very happy. However, there are cases when workers misuse freedom and get complacent, farm owners/managers should also learn how to relate to these workers.

3. MANAGING PRODUCTION VOLUME
Farm owners understand that the more volume of farm produces, the more revenue gotten, therefore dedication should be placed in this area of the farm business. Factors like weather, pests, level of soil nutrients, lack of machines to work on farms etc.
To ensure that the production volume is increased, farmers should understand how certain factors influence the level of production that comes from their farms and learn how to prepare against them or work to ensure that they adopt new practices to work against these factors.

4. MANAGING PRICE OF PRODUCE
Another effective method to ensure profit growth is to manage the price of farm produce. There are usually periods where the price of certain crops increases or decreases, farm owners should always monitor the market to take advantage of the best time to sell your product.
Farmers should create a marketing plan that will work with any change in price or demand of their produce, and to ensure this, proper monitoring of the market is integral.

5. IMPROVING FARM MACHINERY
Acquiring new farm equipment will help a farmer acquire more crop yield and ensure that there is no need to spend for a while. Farmers who invest in new machinery can save up costs incurred by the maintenance of old equipment and also spend less on fuel.

Practicing the methods mentioned above will offer improvements in revenue generation for farmers, so we advise that the points are taken into serious consideration.

Agriculture / Ten Things Farmers Should Do In The New Year by HabgitoTillers: 2:29pm On Jan 04, 2018
Happy New Year! We are excited about the prospect of working with you again this year to achieve great success and help meet your goals. We hope you enjoyed the festive period and spent time with family and friends.

We are sure that you have made resolutions for the New Year on improving on the past year and planned new goals, and we want to share some advice on what you should do in the New Year.

New Year resolutions are always made with great intentions to ensure that they are met, but most times these intentions are short-lived because they are very difficult to compromise on bad habits and stick to new behavior.

You can, however, make a difference this year, and because we are very concerned about our farmers, we created a list of what farmers should do in 2018 that will make a positive difference.

1. EAT HEALTHIER:
As farmers, we learnt that it is not totally easy to stick to diet because you are always surrounded by food and most times livestock. Sticking to a specific diet is very important as it will ensure that you are healthier and smart in any season. We implore that you control eating without caution and make research on how you can create a diet from what you have around you.

2. ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN:
Farmers always have plenty to do due to the nature of the job. Most times, the results gotten from a particular farming season are not encouraging because farmers tend to go all traditional and do what they know best without making a plan. Making a plan on how to go through a farming season is very important, it ensures that time is well spent and results are very encouraging.

3. SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY:
Farms are sometimes located far from home during the farming season for a period. In 2018, you should spend more time with family and make plans on how to mix work and family time as it serves as a motivational hack.

4. CREATE ANOTHER INCOME STREAM:
Farmers have diverse opportunities to create other income streams. Some examples are investing in livestock, working on a new plantation and so on. Do not be overwhelmed by the thought of creating a new income stream. Start small and get the right people and resources, you will eventually get used to it.

5. READ MORE:
Farmers sometimes are poor readers, because they are apparently always busy. Take time to read this year, if you can’t read a book, you can start with anecdotes, articles.
Knowledge is key, there is no limit to what you can learn.

6. CREATE A FINANCIAL PLAN:
The difference between the rich and poor is that one knows how to be financially savvy and the other does not. Create a financial plan that will help you save and invest wisely, this will help to increase overall income and sustenance of wealth.

7. MEET NEW PEOPLE:
In 2018, farmers should ensure that they create a network that encourages discussion, plans and sharing ideas. Farmers should not be stuck on their farms with problems when the solution is several yards away in a neighboring farm. Meeting new people is very helpful. It increases mental strength and confidence.

8. IMPROVE RELATIONSHIP WITH CUSTOMERS:
This is very important when you have direct customers. Learn to relate to your customers in a very polite way and listen to them carefully. You should also learn more about your crops so that you are not taken aback by some questions. Make them laugh, offer discounts and make them want to come back again.

9. COMMITMENT TO SAFETY:
Farming is not the easiest or safest job, however taking precautionary measures will help farmers to avoid hazards. Train workers to use machines properly and fix every technical issue.

10. TAKE MARKETING SERIOUS:
Most times, farmers record incredible crop yield but poor profit returns. This is due to lack of a proper marketing plan. So ensure you connect with the best market for your product through meeting people or other forms of marketing.

There we go! We hope that we have been able to help with some ideas on how to achieve greatness this year. We want to also work with you, so you can connect with us anytime to ask questions about the tractor tiller.

Happy New Year. Thanks for being part of our network.

Agriculture / Tractor Tillers: Transforming Nigeria’s Agriculture by HabgitoTillers: 1:17pm On Oct 02, 2017
One quagmire that is accustomed with small scale farming in Nigeria is the lack of cheap and effective machines for small scale farmers.

These farmers cannot afford the basic tractor to solve this situation. They resort to renting tractors from large scale farmers to cultivate or prepare their farmlands for a certain price. Those who find this service very expensive resort to manual labour.

This results to constraints in their farm operations, as these small-scale farmers find it difficult to maximize their profits and record a downturn on their production irrespective of the farm land potential.

Farmers have cried for subsidized prices on the tractor to enable them to purchase it, but even when it is granted, they most times form a group and contribute money individually to purchase a unit which they take turns to use. This may lead to dispute among the farmers and takes a long time to pay back the loan.

Food security will be enhanced in Nigeria if the small-scale farmers are provided with tools and incentives to aid them. With the tractor tillers, these farmers have a machine that will be affordable, easy to use and maintain.
