basilo101: This is a pan igbo forum. There is nothing divisive in the debate. Your monolithic claim is false and mischievous. Only nnewi north LGA is monolithic in Anambra state
So only Nnewi is Anambra, wat kind of thing is that?
Nnewi and Ihiala have very close relationship and alot of marriages, u know.
pazienza: Anambra and all other Igbo States are a creation of Nigeria. Nothing special about states in Nigeria. They only serve as conduits for national cake sharing. Ranging from representations in NASS to allocations, appointments and other forms of national cakes, nothing more and nothing less. An Awka man will never be more of brother to an Owelle Ezukala man, than an Isuochi Man who he speaks same dialect, eat same food, have same masquerade and have been neighbors with since the dawn of time.
I have been to Orumba parts of Anambra, and I know for sure that majority of their commoners don't have issue with Etiti state creation to reunite them with other Isu groups in Abia North, Imo North and Parts of Enugu. They( Orumba/Ihiala) people are the ones to decide if they want to reunite with those their neighbors, and not you or any of us from outside those areas.
Anambra will not be the center of Igboland, even if you add Anioma to SE. Go and take a look at the map of Igboland again.
You claim to be Biafran, yet you are buying the idea of states as created by Nigerian state as a meter of measurement of Igbo groups unity. You don't seem to understand the various groups and clans in Igboland, prior to Gowon state creations in 1967.
This is a very good write up as always, very knowledgeable.
However, I as a strategist, will always strategize.
I will always tilt in the direction that will favour my people, be it Biafra or Nigeria.
I will also prioritize my interest and as such, I arrived at the conclusion that in Nigeria, Adada is a necessary evil to get our Igbo people out of the middle-belt.
That way, we can know wen fulani harm, them.
With regards to the Igbo clan map, it is not a priority.
Wen we get all our people into the SE, naturally, these things will sort themselves out.
BrownRoofRep: Dude you are not making sense at all, do you even bother reading my post?
some people from the same village in Anambra state name their daughters Ebele while others name Ebere. It means nothing! Ebele and Ebere means the same thing in Anambra state.
We really need an Igbo institute to structure this Igbo language like English.
Past tense, present tense, Adjective, Verb, Proverb and the lot...
The end result will be us all speaking the same dialects.
NaijirianKing: You made some good points on state creation, but within the political realities of Nigeria, this is why more states are needed in the SE.
Here's why:
1. More states mean more from the Federal gov't in regards to appointments, such Ministerial appointments help shift and move policy 2. More states mean more people pushing your agenda in the House of Reps 3. More states mean more people pushing your agenda in the Senate 4. More states mean that you have more political power to leverage and bargain when relating to other regions 5. State creation in the current dispensation of the Nigerian system is not economically motivated, but politically motivated. This is why many states cannot economically survive without Federal allocations, so we have to focus on the politics and not economics of state creation in Nigeria.
Currently, the best move would be to do away with states and instead have 6 regions that are semi-autonomous - however, this is harder than merely adding an additional state to the SE, from within the SE as opposed to potentially bringing people who claim an alternate ethnic group into an ethno-harmonious region, this is not wise. The agitation for adding outside groups into the SE such shouldn't come from the SE Igbos, but should be grass roots from the areas that want to reconnect with the larger Igbo family.
Once an additional state is added the political power to push for a restructuring agenda is also strengthened.
pazienza: Anambra is not Monolithic. From parts of Aguata to Orumba South and North, land is called "Ala" and not "Ani" or "Ana". Go to Umuchukwu town, the home town of Dr Mmadu, all the way to Ogbunka, Umunze, Owelle Ezukala, Ezira, etc in Orumba South, land is "Ala" and their language is same as those of Isuochi people in Abia North.
All those areas are parts of ancient Isu stock of Igbo land. Their language and culture are same with very little variance. I have been to those places, and can tell you that they are not in any way culturally or linguistically related to Idemili than to their Isu brothers in Abia and Imo North areas. Let's stop deceiving ourselves and stop non useful discussions.
That is the beauty of Anambra state, the coming together of all Igbos to create a union of brotherhood.
Once Anioma is created, Anambra will be the center point for all Igbos.
BrownRoofRep: I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE AND WILL SAY IT AGAIN, ANYONE THAT WANT NEW STATES IN THE SOUTH EAST SHOULD LOOK TOWARDS GETTING IGBO COMMUNITIES IN BENUE AND SOME PART OF KOGI OR LOOK TOWARDS ANIOMA.
It doesn't make sense balkanizing the already tiny states in the South East.
Anioma is not more important than the Igbo in the middle belt.
It is a matter of emergency to remove them from there becos, if fulani kill them, we wont get to hear of it.
basilo101: "Ala" is Imo dialect eg Aladinma in Owerri. Anambra equivalent is "ana" eg Anaocha LGA. Ihiala people are of Imo stock. Anambra lack large sub groups. Nsukka is the largest monolithic people in igboland followed by Ngwa
There is nothing like Imo or Anambra or Rivers or Ika.
Wat we have is present tense and past tense.(past participle, verb, proverb etc)
Wen we build an Igbo institute, all this dialects claims will be resolved.
basilo101: Anambra is the most pieces state in the east. I am agitating a nee state to com from there. Just pointing out that it a mere geographical expression contrary to monolithic claims. It will interest yoi to know that my ihiala friend is onyekwere not onyekwelu
There are onyekwelu in Ihiala too depending.
Further, this eneregy will be better spent on facing the enemies without rather than perceived enemies within, that are suffering alongside u.
Igbo people need to be intelligent in everything they do. (Above average)
Okorocha is gradually turning into a national disgrace with wat have been going on.
I mean, is this how he intends to be President? Mind u, Peter Obi is no better.
Imo APC crisis: How I was offered private Jet, $2m to rig primary election – Gulak Published on November 3, 2018 By John Owen Nwachukwu
The Chairman of the Imo State governorship primaries of the party which produced Senator Hope Uzodinma as the governorship candidate of the party, Ahmed Gulak, has revealed that he rejected to be flown on private jet and $2m as bribe to rig the primaries.
Gulak stated this when he addressed reporters in Abuja, adding that even though the offer was so tempting, he rejected it in order to do the right thing.
According to him, he had to persuade the parties that he was going to do the needful and conduct a free and fair primary.
He said he was happy because the party had vindicated him by insisted on the outcome of the primaries his panel held.
”Naturally, even before I went to Imo State, I was offered a private jet to take me to Imo state but I refused because I didn’t want to be compromised.
”I refused the private jet and even the tempting offer made to me, very tempting, we are talking about two million dollars here, which I refused.
”Although, I tried to persuade them that I was going to do what is needful, free and fair primaries. Every stakeholder must be involved.
”Immediately we landed at the airport, that was where the problem started. They wanted to kidnap every member and only God knows where they wanted to take us to, which I refused.
”And to say the least, I pity the Imo people but they have to take their destiny in their own hands and elect who they feel will represent them well. I am not from Imo state but I am a Nigerian.
”There is equality and there is equity. Some of our governors, I am sorry to say this, they take state resources as their personal resources and we know that power is transient.
After four or eight years you are out of power and the system will get you.
”But having said that, I am happy that the party has vindicated me and I know it is the best decision for the people of Imo state.”
Oshiomhole Faults Imo APC Primary, Dissolves Gulak Committee
No Aboki or Afonja should be coming to any state in Ala Igbo to conduct primaries if we know wat we are doing in Igboland.
Imo APC primary: I narrowly escaped being kidnapped, Gulak alleges Published October 2, 2018 Ahmed Gulak
John Alechenu, Abuja
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Imo State Governorship Primary Committee, Ahmed Gulak, has alleged that he narrowly escaped being kidnapped in the state.
Gulak said this in an interview with reporters in Abuja, on Tuesday.
He explained that he and other committee members conducted a peaceful exercise which produced Senator Hope Uzodinma as the party’s standard bearer for the 2019 governorship election for Imo State.
He said Uzodinma won after securing “423,895 votes to defeat eight other aspirants, including Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son in-law, Uche Nwosu.”
Gulak alleged that about nine out of the 12-member committee were “kidnapped,” by persons he described as “agents of the governor” who were led by a team of policemen to the hotel where the committee members were lodged.
He alleged to have left Owerri “under the cover of darkness at about 4:00 A.M.” to make his way to Abuja.
Gulak said, “Myself, Col. Igbanor and Hon Bernard Miko were the only three doing this job, as others disappeared, and we learnt that they were at the Government House.
“So, when we sensed that something was fishy, by 4.00 A.M., we left Owerri after concluding the entry of the results.
“I was informed and the AIG Zone 9 called to inform me that they went for investigations and discovered that the governor himself and some policemen came and rounded up those members and took them to the Government House and until now, they have not been released and anything could have happened to them.
“The election was held, results generated and a winner emerged and the winner is Senator Hope Uzodinma.
“My secretary disappeared around 2.00 A.M. In fact, the case of Sadiq Bello is most pathetic because he doesn’t know anywhere in Owerri.
“He called a while ago that he has not eaten and has no money on him. That is the price and hazard of this job.”
However, the party’s National Working Committee, in a statement signed by the acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, said the exercise in “Imo has been suspended indefinitely.”
I have said a change in strategy is seriously required. I am sure the DSS have compromised NK in their asymmetrical warfare tactics against Ndigbo. I truly don't trust NK any longer.
If there is a credible opportunity for Atiku to unseat Buhari then to hell with Kanu election boycott.
However, if there is no chance of Atiku unseating Buhari, then sorry is our name in the SE.
The SE will see and feel Buhari hate and disgust towards them.
As u can see Okorocha is already being dealt with in APC and similarly Ngige.
Oshiomole main goal is to enthrone the SW as President come 2023.
It was this same Oshiomole that brought SW party to the SS. (ACN)
My people greatest problem is never planning ahead.
murphyibiam15: @ the emboldened, ..I don't trade insults in my discussions.. only a senseless person resort to tantrums when they're defenseless
Look, we know there are some Afonja here out to cause mischief, so I apologize if that was not your intention.
I just got tired of repeating myself and the unintelligent response.
Notice, i repeated myself several times about y Adada was the preferred option.
Ndiigbo have no room for mistakes and everything we do have to be strategic for our collective survival in Nigeria.
Ala Igbo dont need anymore state.
The reason we are pushing for state creation at this stage is to capture Igbo people outside the southeast and to be on equal footing with other regions in Nigeria.
murphyibiam15: @ the emboldened is the reason we need Etiti state and not Adada, we need to add to what we already have, if Etiti is created the federal government will have to site a federal university there just as the new federal university in Ebonyi which the region is already benefitting from due to the new state, that's what I think.
Wat state are u from?
Becos, i want to know if wat Ndi Anambra have been saying, that they dont want any part of their state touched, have been falling on deaf ears.
Osagyefo98: That decision has been made a long time ago.... The issue is how committed and I must quickly remind u that if the proposed adada state falls beyond nsukka annd benue axis...is an issue.
Adada state aims to capture Ndiigbo in the middlebelt.
That is the principal justification for Adada.
Others are secondary.
The State already has a Federal University of Nigeria
murphyibiam15: Ekweremmadu is from Aninri LGA and not Awgu even though most people mix it up..Ekweremmadu I think won't have such powers he has now during the next senate
Either way, state creation is a topic that should be on igbo agenda.
We need minimum of one state and maximum of two.
Adada state capturing the middle belt igbo is a priority.
Obi1kenobi: Not anytime soon. And even if the SE get another state, other regions have been lobbying hard too for new states. They're not going to create an extra state in the SE, and leave the states at 37. I can't remember who said that at the last Confab, 50-something states or so were proposed. There will never be states equity because some geopolitical zones deserve more states than others. It's that simple really. The SE fails to make a case on 3 basis: the cultural homogeneity (the SE is the most culturally homogeneous zone in the country by far); the population; and the landmass. On all 3 counts, it is the least deserving region of having another state.
Yeah!
We did not stop dem from creating states in other region.
We insist on equal number of states for every region.
Since SE is on a deficit, they create one first for the SE and then extra states for everybody including the SE.
murphyibiam15: the igbos in Benue can join Ebonyi, those in kogi should join Enugu and Anambra states.
Etiti state is the fairest consideration...IMHO
No, Igbo as a people dont need any more state. Any move geared towards state creation should be strategically focused on retrieving our people delibrately cut off from us.
This is y i need guys here that have access to Peter Obi or Ik Ekweremadu.
Adada is the least contentous one and must capture Igbo people in the middlebelt.
murphyibiam15: I prefer Etiti state that will involve all the whole SE states than only Adada for Nsukka axis, after all Ngwa people also needs Aba state
The best state for now is Adada, so we can removeour Igbo people from teh middlebelt.
Obi1kenobi: Putting it bluntly, the SE doesn't deserve a 6th state. The "equality" you're demanding is unrealistic given the tiny size, population, and cultural homogeneity of the SE compared to other regions. Unless the 6th state is added from another region to the SE, it's a fruitless exercise to chop up what already have. Nigeria has more than enough states as it is and don't need farther chopping up. We could have 100 states in Nigeria and somebody will still be whining about marginalisation. Let us work with what we already have and make it work.
Whether u put it blunt or sharp, the SE are going to get a 6th state to be on par with other regions.
