Officers of the Nigerian Police Force have arrested a suspected pedophile for allegedly raping a 3 year-old girl around Ganaja Junction in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

The suspect, Daniel Dankulubi, allegedly raped the victim at a bakery, Our Lover’s Bread, on Monday where he works.

It was gathered that the suspect, married to a yet to be identified Police officer, is a notorious pedophile in the community as he had reportedly raped his own daughter.

Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday, mother of the victim, Amina Abdulazeez said upon getting home from work on Tuesday, the girl told her that her private part was paining her, saying “Brother Dankulubi” penetrated her female genital organ with his penis and told her not to tell anyone.


According to her, she immediately went to the bakery to look for the suspect and was told that he stepped out.

She noted that upon his return, she approached him and asked what he did to her daughter whom he denied and attempted to escape but she held his clothes firmly while her husband tried to beat the suspect before people around prevented him.

Amina pointed out that an angry mob immediately descended on the suspect but was rescued by the Chairman of the Community who pleaded that they allow law enforcement agencies do their job.

She stated that the matter was reported to the Police, who immediately came to whisk him away to Zone C Divisional Police Office in Lokongoma Lokoja.

The victim’s mother appealed to human rights activists, government and security agencies to come to the aid of the girl and ensure that the matter is not swept under the carpet.

Speaking with newsmen, the Founder of Rehoboth Children’s Home Initiative, Chief Modupe Awoniyi condemned the incident, describing it as barbaric and traumatic for any mother and the victim in particular.

Chief Awoniyi, a retired broadcaster with the State Broadcasting Corporation, urged every responsible mother to rise up and condemn the act, noting that the suspect must be made to face the full wrath of the law.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya told newsmen that the case will be transferred to the Command headquarters for further investigations.
