Since PSG spent so much money should't they have had the french title wrapped up with like 10 games to spare because in your opinion they spent a lot more on players than Montpelier. |

I bet if chelsea has singed an experienced international like podolski u will say he is a great signing. Maybe u are talking like this becos both signings are not 30 million pounds and above. You should not measure a player's quality by the amount he cost. 2 Likes |

Im sick of the Arsenal haters.. We are the model club.. Chelsea City and United are just clubs on steroids!!!! Until any of your clubs build a stadium, then I will love to see how much money you are spending in transfers!!! We are ahead of the game. Imagine that money was spent on players instead of the stadium, do you not think we would have won the league? We have been around the top of the table in March in a few of the previous seasons, we have been to cup finals... Having spend no money. I think the most we have been in debt is 6 million. 10 Likes |
Programming / Re: Difference Between Developer And Programmer. Interview Question by harryobas: 5:18pm On Jun 21, 2012 |
A programmer is nothing but a coder , He just codes accordingly to the specification or design . Whereas a developer developes the software/module from understanding the requirement, then design the solution, code it and then test the same. All developers are programmers but not all programmers are developers. |
Programming / Re: Are You A Real Programmer? Can You Code With Notepad? by harryobas: 10:24pm On Jun 19, 2012 |
I believe working with an IDE makes u more productive because an IDE will usually integrate many different tools such as a compiler, an editor, a debugger etc in one place. |

lordZOUGA: First of all am not here to teach, and even if i wanted to teach you have to first of all tell me what u already know about software architecture so i know where to start from. If it happens that u know nothing at all then i would have to probably email u some beginner materials on software architecture to get u up to speed. |
Programming / Re: Software Architecture by harryobas: 9:33am On Jun 18, 2012 |
lordZOUGA: I have not quoted a textbook for your information. I only defined architecture using the generally accepted definition for architecture, if you are interested in knowing more about architecture just say so. |

doncigalo: @harryobas Well said, your on point ...dont know where you're going with your post though... Well the purpose of the post is to highlight and create an awareness of the importance of software architecture. Especially for developers that don't appreciate or understand why architecture is important. |
Programming / Re: Software Architecture by harryobas: 1:13am On Jun 18, 2012 |
lojik: Is this a question, an information, a poem or court proceeding? Well sorry if you don't fancy the way i started. Maybe i decided to start like that because i have come across quite a few developers (especially agile developers) who do not appreciate architecture because they feel architecture introduces unnecessary bureaucracy to the development process. |
Programming / Software Architecture by harryobas: 9:32pm On Jun 17, 2012 |
I am one of those developers with an interest in software architecture. According to bass et al the architecture of a software intensive system refers to the structure or structures of the system which comprise software elements, the externally visible properties of those elements and the relationship among them. Most software process models such as waterfall, incremental model, spiral model and agile processes like xp and scrum do not explicitly specify an architecture activity but that does not mean that architecture is not important enough to warrant its own distinct activity in the software development lifecycle. Infact architecture is the primary carrier of quality attributes such as availability, performance, modifiability etc. While requirements activity usually considers only concerns of user stakeholders architecture on the other hand usually considers the concerns of other stakeholders such as developers, architects, testers, acquirers, system administrators etc. It should be noted that software systems are not just used they are built, tested, maintained and of course they have to be paid for. 2 Likes |
Programming / Website Vs Web Application. The Difference. by harryobas: 4:13pm On Jun 10, 2012 |
When I tell people that I develop web applications, specifically administrative web applications, they immediately assume that I develop web sites, and they cannot understand it when I tell them that they are not the same. Most people know the difference between a desktop application and a web site, so it is sometimes easier to understand if I say that a web application is equivalent to a desktop application with a web interface. As a web site does not have an equivalent desktop version it should therefore follow that there are differences.I sometimes refer to a web site as the Front Office or Showroom software and the web application as the Back Office software. Other people may use Front End and Back End. The front office is where visitors come in to browse and sometimes make a purchase. The back office is there to provide support services for the front office, such as processing customer orders and maintaining, issuing and replenishing inventory. While the front office is open to anyone, access to the back office is restricted to authorised personnel only. While the front office software is web only, the back office software can be either desktop or web, or a mixture of the two. It is possible for a web site (front end) to have a companion web application. A back office application is not necessarily the same as a Content Management System (CMS) as it does much more than simply maintain the information that is displayed on the web site. It is possible for a web application to exist without a companion web site. For example, an organisation may have a web application which allows employees to enter their timesheets and expenses, but this application does not have a web site which is open to casual visitors. The only similarity between a web site and a web application is that they both access HTML documents using the HTTP protocol over an internet or intranet connection. The fact that there is a difference between the two is not apparent to most of today's script kiddies who manage to cobble together what passes for a web site for an organisation, then, when asked to build a back office application to support what is used by the front office they continue with the "this is a website" mentality. |
Programming / Re: What Is A Software Component? by harryobas: 9:03pm On May 31, 2012 |
ekt_bear: In Ruby, modules and libraries, basically. I would not consider a class as a component either because from c#/.net standpoint, a complied class(.netmodule) on its own is not depolyable it must be part of an assembly(.dll) to be deployable. |
Programming / Re: What Is A Software Component? by harryobas: 8:44pm On May 31, 2012 |
okeyxyz: I don't really think so, i say this because some say that a component must conform to a component model such as com, ejb, .net, corba etc. 1 Like |
Programming / What Is A Software Component? by harryobas: 9:10pm On May 30, 2012 |
The term component is a very much overloaded term in modern software engineering. The most generic definition is basically a piece of software that is somehow reusable or somehow deployable. So my fellow nairalanders what would you consider to be a component in your programming language of choice. |
Programming / Re: There Is More To Software Development Than Programming by harryobas: 12:20pm On May 29, 2012 |
Ajafik: Coding which is equivalent to programming, testing, maintaining, documentation of artifacts, good User experience and interface, data integrity, are all embedded in the act of good software development. But of course we have many coders and little software developers out there. To most clients the standard is not the issue but for the solution architect to deliver. Standard may not be the issue depending on the domain of the solution. For some domains, quality attributes such as reliability, performance or modifiability could be more important than functionality. |
Programming / Re: There Is More To Software Development Than Programming by harryobas: 10:38pm On May 28, 2012 |
mkwayisi: I totally understand your point. Programming is the most important, expensive and resource consuming activity of software development and certainly deserve a lot of attention. But it needs to be guided by good design techniques and development best practices because programming is where we can achieve important quality attributes such as testability, maintainability and reusability. |
