Dvdpity:Dictating how you want to be paid is more wise Wise enough to keep students at home for 5 months without caring? Nobody is approving UTAS! If you don't like IPPIS, resign ABEG! And stop messing with our life's No be do or die affair #EndASUU It won't be well with FG if they pay ASUU for all the months they are using to enjoy this endless vacation at home. (This is what has been promoting more strike over time) |
FG cannot keep dictating how they want to be paid while holding us as hostage!!!

Kwara1stson:Do you mean the man below me?
|
jacobs2015:Second of all, I am not a paid agent. I am a Unilag student in the department of ******* I am only angry at ASUU for keeping us at home for months because of UTAS. WHENEVER ASUU PRESIDENT MAKES A STATEMENT; HE MUST ALWAYS MAKE EMPHASIS ON UTAS. It's almost as if UTAS is No.1 How will an employer be dictating how theg want to be paid to their employee? Lastly, ASUU deserves 100% increase. Nobody will not say they are not trying. Some lecturers resume work as early as 7am while, some have sleepless nights while trying to prepare theirselves for the day ahead. I have personally seen some lecturers who take their time to study and prepare for lectures (I did not say all ooooooooo; we also have the lazy one's) Make ASUU shift ground small, and let us resume. We are tired! FG sef no serious. It's as if ASUU are using us as hostages, while FG are been careless with the whole thing. Do you know how this strike is affecting us psychologically and mentally? Do you even care? All you care about is NO UTAS! NO RESUMPTION |
jacobs2015:Let me start from where you said ASUU will shout and shout, and nobody will say anything! Do you realize the rigorous process of making laws, passing bills and other jargons they do in the government house? It takes time! It takes time for the government to modify changes to a current sector and implement it. ASUU does not have patience. Before we open eyes and close it, they have declared another strike (That is one reason why I can ASUU has not received other benefits that they deserve) For example, you are fighting for 50k increase in salary, and before the government implements that, you people will declare another strike. Now they will have to beg them to resume again, and make a different agreement that will take time to implement, and the circle continues. It takes common sense to see these things... A notable example was the ENDSARS protest, one of the key message of that protest was for government to increase the police salary, in other to reduce their rate of misbehaving. FG agreed to increase their salary, and did not implement that plan until after 2 years if I guess correctly. Now if it was impatient ASUU, they will have declared strike asking why they have not been given their entitlement. Talking about this thing just dey vex me Abeg |
Let me explain this IPPIS thing 1. IPPIS tracks earning persons. In the past, civil servants fraudulently created 100 "Kalus" and earned 100 salaries. IPPIS stopped this, now because "Kalu" is tracked; he can only earn one salary from the FGN 2. ASUU as lecturers work for one school but may be on "contract" to another school/ Kalu can work in UNN full-time but teach in ABSU part-time, but UNN and ASUU are paid by the FGN; thus, if Kalu registers with IPPIS, he can't get paid. This is what ASUU is fighting. 3. This is self-serving. ASUU is bringing up an "excuse" of fraud in IPPIS, great, but the central question is unanswered, UNN and ABSU are paid by the same employer, so Kalu earns from the FGN, twice. 4 Solution? A. ASUU should seek a waiver for Kalu. He registers with IPPIS but can earn from FGN twice of thrice B. ASUU self-funds Keeping kids at home over this is taking them hostage, and ASUU will be forced to justify this in future. no exceptions, ASUU MUST register with IPPIS #Copied

It is now obvious that ASUU president is happy with keeping his members off work. And we the students at home. We've seen ASUU slightly shift grounds the past few weeks of no meeting with FG! They've stopped clamouring for UTAS, and for better working conditions, ridiculous increase of salary (Where in the world will someone in his right mind be asking for over 100% of salary increase?) That aside, FG are set to use their as usual delay tactics to tackle ASUU and hopefully get to hear them be reasonable for once (Since the past 5 months; to me they've been unreasonable to the core) ASUU are meeting FG on Wednesday and here's what their president has to say... "The issue of IPPIS and UTAS has been put to rest. If the government agrees with us tomorrow, everything will be resolved". - ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke on Politics Today (Channels TV). With that been said, ASUU and his members do not wish us well. And for that reason it shall never be well with them! Because I don't understand why they keep priotizing this payment platform if they really don't have something up their sleeves! I have been at home for 5 months because of a payment platform you designed yourself... Let's be realistic here If ASUU approve UTAS make I bend? (That's if FG even plans on doing anything before they leave) #EndAsuu

lereinter:So we should wait at home for two years because you people don't want IPPIS! The same IPPIS that the doctors who save life's use The same IPPIS that the military uses; hope you realize that the arm forces of a nation is more important than every other sector? Why should the university have a different payment platform? Because you impact knowledge? If you are not medically okay, will there be any need to impact knowledge? Or will you be able to impact knowledge if there is an ongoing war? Please you are not better than other sectors. #EndASUU

Explorerx:Think about the animla kingdom. Why are some animals more superior? Have you seen how some animals attack their preys ruthlessly? Consider why we humans feed on domestic animals that are harmless and helpless? God created the animals and gave them the same breath as us. We were supposed to live a perfect life until Adam and Eve disobeyed God, and we are currently paying for their sins. However, there's hope for a better life after death. And you yourself can make plans to improve your current situation. For example, if you lack Money (Work) If it seems the work is not bringing in enough money. Work harder. Peace be unto you. I pray you find solace |

"Even in ASUU, this is the worst leadership I have seen in 25 years"- Professor Adamu Haruna. Professor Ahmed Isah Haruna is a university professor in Bauchi state and he has this to say about the ASUU association and endless strike. His words were: Both government and ASUU are not sincere on university education in Nigeria. I have not seen any intellectualism in the attitude of both government and ASUU. I will touch little things that doesn't make sense; why is ASUU on strike now? It is because of IPPIS and after losing out on that they shifted the goalpost to "revitalization of universities" which is very unrealistic. Why would a sensible person declare strike during coronavirus global confusion? Where is the much acclaimed knowledge? This strike was never voted for at individual branches as usual but truncated by the ASUU NEC. It never happened this way before. The IPPIS unveiled an unbelievable number of ghost workers in the university payroll whole the former gifmis payroll that ASUU preferred accommodated all those ghost workers. So the complain about IPPIS is baseless and unfounded. Why would a professor be allow to visit more than two universities in a month? How would he cover the contact hours and quality delivery to students if he has to visit three, four, five and etc universities? All for money. Who are then killing the university education from within? Why would this malpractice be allow simply because it is ASUU. Respect should be earn through honesty. What is revitalization? Who will source over N1 trillion naira and throw it to universities for unspecified projects and look the other way? This will never happen. How many universities judiciously utilized the money given by President Goodluck Jonathan for Needs Assessment Projects? Infact you will see better projects in State Universities than federal universities. Why is ASUU silent about this? Who actually benefits from major projects? University Management and Union officials as supervisors but not lecturers. TETFUND is doing good in their intervention projects in all universities, so why this revitalization again? Why is ASUU drifting away from sourcing welfare of its members and targeting revitalization? Are they fighting for it's member of the University Management? As it is now, majority of ASUU member have gone to Abuja and enrolled for the IPPIS because the deception is too much. No government in the history of Nigeria is interested in education, so only sincerity of purpose, honesty and transparency in side of ASUU would defeat them and not stupid pride and propaganda. If Nigerian Universities are winning research grants and do the research, they would have solve their problems and earn more respect. Does it take new laboratory or office to put up an application for a good research? If ASUU had being encouraging good research, things would not have being this bad. You cannot help politicians to rig elections and expect them to respect you. In my opinion as the writer,I believe the association is full of greedy people feeding fat and not fighting for the interest of the students as they claim. And the government in turn doesn't care because most of their children are schooling abroad or in private universities. This democracy sucks!..I think the next line of protest should be to end the association (ASUU). Maybe this would bring them back to their senses. Thank you for reading

Adonis69:I am a student of one of the best universities in Nigeria. Yes we are angry, and frustrated. How can you people say we should be patient at home for two years? You people claim you're fighting for better working conditions, improved pay, revisitation of the varsities. But that's not what I read in the news headline everyday... I have said this before, and I will say it again. [s]The main reason why ASUU is on this endless strike is because of UTAS.[/s] HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO BE SMILING WHEN YOUR UNION IS SAYING WE SHOULD WAIT AT HOME FOR TWO YEARS BECAUSE OF A PAYMENT PLATFORM THAT YOU DESIGNED YOURSELF? How do you expect me to be smiling when my mates are rounding up an academic session while I am stuck In a present level? Please I don't want to misuse words... Please resign if you don't want IPPIS. A worker dictating how he wants to be paid shows he is no longer interested in working #ENDASUUMADNESS #EndASUU

michlins:Let me answer you using my own words. The only reason why politicians send their children abroad is because they can afford it. 90% of rich men and women in Nigeria prefer to send their kids abroad because they can afford it. Ask yourself this. How many rich man allows his son or daughter attend public primary schools let alone secondary schools? The fact is this, public schools are for the masses and are often overcrowded with children with different behavior. #EndASUU

michlins:As an organization, ASUU has a sense of entitlement that borders on criminality #EndASUU
|
michlins:It claims to be fighting for education in the country while being completely silent on primary school education. It hardly joins students’ struggles but feeds off the adulation and support of the Organised Labour. #EndASUU We have political kkds attending Unilorin, Unilag and more
|
michlins:How can a union be more powerful than its employers and the government and hold the society down perpetually? It is a fact that ASUU members are far more dictatorial than the politicians they habitually harangue. #EndASUU
