Efetobore1980: Pls stop quoting my messages. Go and advertise your Europe and Erasmus to your clients. I am in the position to lecture you about U.S. visa applications and policies.
At the end, you will lure inexperienced fresh graduates to Europe and Asia where they will eventually be stranded.
Pls keep all your wisdom and advertisements to yourself . None can even attract my attention. Erasmus getting stranded ? Lmaoo😂😂😂 . The most hilarious thing I’d hear on the internet today.. from the “all wise one”. Lol. It’s only one who is not too smart that’ll put all his/her eggs in one basket at this crucial time. This is the best time for any prospective to start thinking of alternatives. 1. Canada is a good alternative 2. Europe is a good alternative 3. Asia is a good alternative 4. New Zealand and Australia are also good alternatives. Cheers! |

What i think about it is that, it is still a proposal. Read my last messages very well. Whenever it is posted on the official U.S. embassy websites, then it turns to official announcement. Or do you book appointment on the white house website ? Do you pay visa fee on the white house website 😊 As it stands, every visa application procedures changed not.
Even. After official ratification or certification, visa application process will continue for those going for necessary activities ie Study. Medical, Business. Etc. I am also prophesying that total ban on Nigeria is 100% impossible. If you’re one of the folks who are waiting for Private Message from the Consulate or on US embassy website, Unfortunately, You will wait for donkey years ooo 🤣🤣. This is a decision as expected from Section 212(f) from the Consulate in Tokyo. POV: It’s not even January 2026!!! And the Effect is Stressed Out already.. If you have an Appointment as from 01/01/2026, don’t spoil your profile applying, focus on Europe, Asia and Erasmus. That’s your Best Bet. Regards..

[quote author=Efetobore1980 post=137042753]Why are you still on this visa thread if what you posted up 👆 there is true ? You are still coming to tap from the various genuine and empirical scenarios off the experts on Nairaland 😊
95% of those external groups including WhatsApp posts fake visa approvals in order to lure victims. Nairaland is still top-1 most reliable forum if not in the whole of Africa.
Me tap? Lol, not everyone on a thread here is seeking for a visa, Ask around — you must have heard about “Brown to green”, I won’t say more than that..
Apparently, I don’t expect you to say otherwise, neither I’m I here to banter with you.. It’s your opinion and you have right to it.
The statement stated “Nairaland is top 1 most reliable” is a fallacy of hasty generalization. Take it or leave it! Millions of people travel without even coming to Nairaland — It’s your choice to not accept, but that a stand point reality. NL might be helpful to some, ‘no doubt. Unfortunately you’re also on the same thread. |

Cityview12: True, but the level of visa denial last month is concerning. I belong to a ton of groups off Nairaland, and not one non-F1 applicant got approved, which is concerning. Do you know of any non-fully funded F1 approvals in the month of September? Do you know of any F2 or B1/B2 approvals in September? even if it's just one? Visa Approvals have moved from Nairaland since! It’s on WhatsApp.. |

que4: I feel it’s criminal for someone to pay for visa fee and only then do you see that the earliest date in Lagos (as of today) is October.
If people could see the dates, half of the applicants would do a double take and not proceed. This is wild sh*t to be honest.
If you are yet to pay, select Abuja. You can get dates there in October, next month. You’re funny sha — Is US your country of origin Or you’re the one to tell them how they should operate! Jokes |

Jack880: Please I need your suggestion.
I attended my F-1 interview in Lagos on June 23, 2035. I was placed on administrative processing for social media vetting. It's one month now, and my status has remained on "Application Received." My program starts in middle of August.
I sent an email to the Consulate, and got a response two weeks later that my case is still under administrative processing. I confused since it still shows "Application Received" instead of the traditional "Refused" or "Administrative Processing."
This is mentally stressful. I think disturbing them with mails will not solve your problem -- AP takes at least 60 days, some people are on 30 and more youre just in few weeks and youre already sending several mails. Please allow the process to take its due cause!! |

Pristineni: Good day everyone. I have a concern about my visa application. My uncle has been living in the US since 2016 and used my information and my siblings' information for his settlement process, possibly for permanent residency or citizenship. However, he's not sponsoring me. If I'm asked during an embassy interview whether I have any relatives in the US, what should I say? I'm unsure of his current status, but as of 2016, he was a permanent resident. You better call your uncle and ask questions - if your name is in the system and you say No! Thats instant denial oo. Better to know what youre facing. Ignorance is not an excuse |

As of now, the CEAC status still shows “refused,” and I have not received any further updates. My academic program is scheduled to begin in August as well. When the Dept of State is done with their vetting and they have an update for you, then you will see it on your portal. It may take 3, 6 weeks, maybe months too. AP is case by case. |

Poormanpikin: Thank you for your suggestion.
Given my financial constraints, I've made a strategic decision to focus on schools that align with my circumstances. Specifically, I'm from the far north, and the costs associated with traveling to cities like Lagos or Abuja to sit for standardized tests, coupled with accommodation expenses, are prohibitive for me. To circumvent this challenge, I've opted for universities that don't require standardized tests. Furthermore, since my bachelor's degree was earned in an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, I've also prioritized schools that waive English proficiency tests. Additionally, I've selected schools that accept unofficial transcripts and don't necessitate external evaluations, which simplifies the application process. I've identified eight universities that meet these criteria, and I'm currently working on saving up for application fees, as none of the schools I've contacted offer fee waivers for international students. I'm planning to apply to at least three schools initially. I'd appreciate any further guidance or insights that could support my application journey. FUNDING and Emotions are not the same. Requirements are there—it's left for the applicant to fulfill. |

Poormanpikin: I'm planning ahead, and I'll be applying to schools in the States for Fall 2027. According to my school calendar, my final transcript will be ready by February 2027, so I'm preparing in advance to ensure a smooth application process. I've been in touch with several schools, and more than five have responded positively, indicating that they can offer me admission with my current transcript while I complete my degree program. Only one school wasn't receptive to my inquiry. I'm appreciative of the responses I've received so far, and I'm looking forward to continuing my preparations for the application process. What you should focus now is Acing GRE - Transcripts is the smallest thing |

A VERY CRUCIAL TIP TO SAVE YOUR LIFE ♊️🇺🇸
When it comes to filling DS 160 for your Job Roles towards applying for a Visa — Learn how to Appropriately structure your statements. If you struggle to make connecting statements, here is a tip for you.
1. Learn how to use AI tools (e.g Chat GPT) to structure words together and provide an Insight for you - rather than writing statements like an High school level student.
2. When you’re being asked ”What a Program would do for you” - A program should be a SOLUTION to a Problem that is very peculiar to you / you’re currently facing at your Place of Work or in your Research activities. Discourage yourself of always saying _“I will come back to take a senior role”_ When you come back - would they sack the person occupying the position because you just returned from the US??
3. When you’re Refused a Visa - Your DS 160 Should clearly explain the reasons behind the refusal and state what has significantly changed at the time of a new Application ➡️What’s is refused based on Inadequate funding? ➡️What is based on Unclear Study plans? ➡️What’s is based on Poor home ties?
➡️You must significantly provide answers to these questions - especially in your DS 160.
BEST OF LUCK!

charlyduru: Got U.S. C1/D Visa Before, But Denied B1/B2 3 Times + F1 Recently – Need Advice
Hello Nairalanders,
Please I need honest and constructive advice on my U.S. visa journey.
So far, I’ve been denied the U.S. visa 4 times, and I’ve been approved once.
Here’s a breakdown:
I was granted a C1/D visa (transit/crew visa) earlier in my career. ( which i used to go across several Us cites for work and to the Caribbeans also)
I’ve applied 3 times for the B1/B2 visa (visitor/tourist) before getting the job that requires the C1/D1 and was denied each time.
Most recently, I applied for an F1 student visa, and for masters degree program to further my career prospects and that was also denied.
I’m now planning to apply again for the F1 visa and I’m trying to understand what I may be doing wrong, and how best to approach the interview this time.
What can I do to show my genuine intentions ?
Please, I’d appreciate advice on:
What are visa officers looking for when it comes to F1 visas?
Could my past B1/B2 denials affect my current chances?
How can I show strong ties to Nigeria even though my mother lives in the U.S.?
How can I answer my family ties and mum in the US question?
Should I wait before reapplying or go ahead and try again soon?
Any tips on how to explain my past visa history without looking suspicious?
If anyone has been in a similar situation or has worked with agents/lawyers that helped, feel free to share as well.
I’m serious about doing this the right way and would be grateful for any help or guidance.
Thanks and God bless. Did you over stay your VISA? |

Sorry your uncle won't be able to retrieve his travel passport until after 8 weeks (normal processing time for IW) or any time the embassy clears the passport as done with and you won't be able to retrieve his passport during that time . ** They won't reply to your retrieval email . This applies only to IW.. 👍 Its funny reading that People book PAID RESERVATIONS for visa purposes, when your passport is yet to get to you. OkoyeIfechukwu: Hello,
Please guys, I am preparing for another student visa interview, after being previously denied. I want to share my full details and seek advice from experts here. I really want to weigh my chances and get guidance on what to do better this time. Please find my information below:
My interview Transcript Unsuccessful Application. Abuja. Visa denial under section 214b
Which program are you going for? I am going for my Master of science in Information Technology with a concentration in IT systems and management at washington university of science and technology in Alexandria city, Virginia.
Why this Program? I choose this program because it aligns perfectly with my role as a Cloud Security Engineer at …...an organization that supports young women in tech. This course will strengthen my technical and leadership skills in managing complex IT infrastructures and allow me advance in my Career and to contribute more effectively to my organization’s mission.
Who is your sponsor? I was given a tuition assistance of 1,188 dollars and the rest of my tuition fees as well as my living expenses will be covered by My elder sister, ... in the UK, she earns between 48000 - 50000 dollars yearly, Plus, she doesn’t have kids or any major financial commitments, so she’s in a great position to fully fund my Education. I also have $10,000 in savings to supplement her support.
Have you been to the USA before? No, I havent had any reason to do so.
Current Profile: Have Bsc in Computer Sci Program: Master’s in Information Technology I’m a Cloud Security Engineer (1 yr work experience here), with 3 years of work experience in the tech field. COA: $22,500 Tuition assistance from school: $1,188 My elder sister is my sponsor (my I-20 states “Family”), and I will contribute $10,000 from my personal savings to it (I have proof of this). I have no international travel history.
Note: In my previous I-20, my personal contribution of $10,000 was not included because the school felt my sponsor’s funds were enough. Its now included in my current 1-20. 1. Write GRE 2. Your profile is already stained with your sister being a tie in the uk 3. Secure Funding, that helps you clean your profile. 4. F1 is like a Triangle, wider at the Base and it gets so thinner every time you get it wrong. 5. There are no emotions ooo !! |
