HealthToilet Disease In Nigeria [causes & Cure] by Healinicblog(op): 5:23pm On Oct 16, 2016
Hey people, I will start by dismantling several widely spread in Nigeria myths. One of them is present in the very name of “toilet infection”. Certainly, this is not a medical term to be used. A better one would be “vaginal infections” or even STI (sexually transmitted infections). Also some people believe that the sexually transmitted infections can be likened to toilet diseases that are contacted through the toilet. This is wrong because STIs cannot be transmitted from toilet use because the viruses and bacteria causing STIs cannot survive without the human body. Thus, STIs are only contacted through unprotected sexual activities.

We are all prone to toilet diseases. Men, women, literates, illiterates, young and old make use of restrooms which expose us to infections if our hygiene is nothing to write home about. Women are more prone to these infections because most of them sit on these toilet seats. Toilet diseases are the infections one can contact through the use of the toilet in an unhygienic way or through using dirty public toilets. Toilet diseases can be contacted from dirty toilet, toilet door knobs and handles, by touching toilet surfaces with fingers or not washing hands after using the toilet. They are referred to as "faeco-oral" diseases. The usage of toilet by several people with different backgrounds, hygiene ideas and infections makes one contact toilet infections and those with poor hygiene are more susceptible to the diseases.

The use of public toilets and pit latrines in schools, markets, restaurants, supermarkets, airports, hotels, motels and in some houses predispose people more to toilet infections. Examples are the ecoli, noro virus, staphylococcus, streptococcus, shigella bacteria, gardnerella, trichhomoniasis, influenza, and all forms of microscopic germs found on toilet seats and inside the toilets/latrines. They are harmless when they do not come in contact with the mucous membrane, which are usually transferred from the hands into the mouth, ear, nose and body.

SYMPTOMS

This might all start with the symptoms. Some of them may include
vaginal discharge, foul smell, itching of private parts, redness, sense of discomfort in the lower part of the tammy, pain, etc. If you get one or several of these signs, the best thing to do is to see a gynecologist. It is highly advised for women to pay a visit to their physician at least once in 6 months. Do not try to deal away with the symptoms by taking pain killers or doing douching. What you can do is to end douching if you are doing it regularly. Few women know how harmful it can be. Stop using soap for the washing of the private body parts. Stop using any chemicals, wet napkins, odorants, etc. for the private hygiene.

TREATMENT

How can toilet infection be cured?

Generally, We cannot stop using public toilets, thus, the need to maintain good toilet hygiene. Toilets generally should be neat, hygienic, well ventilated and free of agents carrying diseases. They should be washed regularly with disinfectants. Wiping the toilet seat with tissues, saliva and water before sitting is very essential. Saliva contains enzymes capable of fight against bacteria and virus. The hands should be washed before and after cleaning up. The toilet seats should not be sat on directly. Tissues can be laid on, if possible, public toilets should be avoided. Students in academic hostels should take caution; personal potties should be used instead of the general toilets. Water, soaps and sanitizers should be supplied in the toilets so that people will not have the excuse of littering the rest rooms with faeces and urine. Proper flushing of the toilet and seats should be done before and after using them. Toilets at different homes should be private. Visitor’s toilets should be different from the ones for family use. More toilets should be provided by the school authorities and government for the students in universities and boarding schools and also for populace by the government. Toilets should also be gender-based. Body contact with the toilet seats, tubs, towels and all bathroom equipments in public houses should be avoided when possible. Pit latrines and public toilets should be avoided.

Fungal infection (Candida) These are treated with oral drugs or with vaginal suppositories or creams. Again, both sexual partners have to be treated, otherwise they would keep on infecting each other.

Viral vaginitis
One of the widely spread viruses is papilloma (HPV). There are the drug treatments for it and in some cases surgery is required.

Bacterial vaginitis
Caused by bacteria (small ogranisms) that enter your organs and lead to infection, inflammation and a range of problems. Always should be treated with antibiotics.

Lastly, Women should take caution because they are more vulnerable to toilet diseases than their male counterparts. Women are expected to clean up with tissue paper or clean water after urinating. The cleaning must be from the vagina to the anus and not vice versa. They should not sit or stand too close to a public toilet and avoid the splashing of the water in the toilet on the vagina. Vaginal lotions both herbal and modern medicinal products.

HealthMouth Odour In Nigeria,[ Causes & Treatments] by Healinicblog(op): 11:59am On Oct 15, 2016
Hey Guys, We are here again..Today we will be looking at BAD BREATH Popularly called or known as MOUTH ODOR.

Mouth Odor which is otherwise known as bad breath, or halitosis, is an unpleasant odor of the mouth. It can occur on occasion, or it can be a chronic condition. It may be caused by foods a person eats, poor oral hygiene, medical conditions, or other factors.
It could also be defined as the presence of a foul-smelling odor that seems to come from the mouth cavity. According to the Academy of General Dentistry, in more than 90% of cases, the odor originates in the mouth, throat, and tonsils. Although this is something everyone experiences at one time or another, if your case does not improve after brushing, flossing, and rinsing the mouth with an alcohol free mouthwash, it may be chronic.

Causes Of Mouth Odor

FOOD: Food is a primary source of bad odors that come from the mouth. Some foods, such as garlic, onions, spicy foods, exotic spices (such as curry), some cheeses, fish, Meats and acidic beverages such as coffee can leave a lingering smell. Most of the time the odor is for a short while. Other foods may get stuck in the teeth, promoting the growth of bacteria, which causes bad breath odor.

POOR HYGIENE : When a person does not brush regularly, food particles remaining in the mouth can rot and cause bad odors. Poor dental care can lead to a buildup of plaque in the mouth, which causes an odor of its own. Bacteria cause the formation of toxins to form, which irritate the gums. If gum disease continues untreated, it can damage the gums and jawbone.

HEALTH ISSUES: pneumonia, sore throat and other throat infections, tonsil stones ,thrush, diabetes, acid reflux, lactose intolerance, other stomach problems, and some liver diseases or kidney diseases may be associated with bad breath.

MORNING BREATH: Bad breath in the morning is very common. Saliva production nearly stops during sleep, allowing bacteria to grow, causing bad breath or mouth odor.
Also Long periods of speaking, smoking, drinking alcohol, and snoring are a few common underlying causes. Most people experience foul breath in the morning due to lack of saliva production while they sleep. For healthy individuals, food odors are temporary and normal salivary flow will eliminate them.

PREGNANCY: Being pregnant in itself does not cause bad breath, but the nausea and morning sickness common during pregnancy may cause bad breath. In addition, hormonal change, dehydration, and eating different foods due to cravings may also contribute to bad breath during pregnancy.thin several minutes.

SYMPTOMS OF MOUTH ODOR

1.Unpleasant or sour taste or changes in taste,
2. Dry mouth,
3. Coating on the tongue

TREATMENT OF MOUTH ODOR

1 Brush and floss teeth regularly. Remember to brush the tongue, too. This can help with bad breath caused by foods a person has eaten.

2 2 Try and See a dentist regularly to ensure dentures or braces are properly fitted and cleaned.

33 Quit smoking or using chewing tobacco.

4 Keep the mouth moist by drinking water and chewing sugarless gum or sugar-free hard candy to stimulate the production of saliva. Mouthwash may temporarily mask bad breath odors, but it may not treat the underlying cause.

Natural remedies to treat bad breath include chewing on mint or parsley.

If bad breath is due to a health problem such as a sinus infection, diabetes, acid reflux, etc., it needs to be treated appropriately.

But, If bad breath is a side effect of taking a medication, discuss with a doctor whether there are other options for medication that can be taken. Never stop taking a medication without first consulting your doctor..

HealthWhy Taking Agbo "Concotions" Is Harmful by Healinicblog(op): 4:33pm On Oct 13, 2016
Hey Guys, Today we would be discussing on the harmful effects of Concotions, Popularly known as “AGBO”
Please read along,
Around major motor parks, bus terminals and markets in the country, various hawkers of herbal concoctions make brisk sales among the generality of the people. But, as Oluwabusayo Adekoya writes,

what are the risks associated with these drinks?

When it comes to choices we make on various issues of life, we do what we think is best and therefore live with its consequences whichever way it turns out. But, when it comes to one's health, a second thought needs be given as to whatever decision we make, after all, “health is wealth”.
It is alarming the rate at which the local concoction popularly known
as Agbo jedi jedi or Sepe is hawked on the streets of Nigeria and the wide spread consumption of Herbal bitters, especially at motor parks. The questions that readily come to mind are; do people take it as a cheap means to get high on liquor? Is it more effective than drugs prescribed at a standard hospital or do they consume it because it is a cheaper and faster way to get treated rather than to go to a hospital?
Speaking with Iya Ijesa, one of the herbal concoction (Agbo) sellers at

Oshodi Motor Park, she said! "Agbo is a very good natural remedy with no artificial chemicals added." When asked about the ingredients and the health benefits of her herbal mixture she said, “Agbo is a mixture of herbs and roots which are soaked in either alcohol or pap water. They are roots and herbs our forefathers depended on before the introduction of modern drugs and they lived longer and healthier than us. These herbal mixtures are used to cure ailments such as malaria, typhoid, pile (hemorrhoid)."
According to her, its health implications aren’t as bad as people who don’t patronize them make them seem to be because of its pure alcohol content. When asked why the same customers patronize her almost every day, after all people don’t go to the hospital everyday once they are cured of the ailment that brought them there in the first place. Is it that the concoction is not a permanent cure but last for some hours and needs to be taken again every day? She couldn’t give a distinctive answer but said “everybody has their reasons for consuming it, and it could be for pleasure or other purposes”
Mr Segun Ogunrinde, a commercial bus driver who plies Abeoukuta-Lagos route, said his preference for Agbo over conventional drugs is that they are more effective and result-oriented. "I have been consuming Agbo for over 12 years that I have been driving and I have no reason to visit any hospital whatsoever over ill health. Agbo are herbs and roots handed down to us by our forefathers. Government should encourage their use because they are home-grown and their source can be ascertained," he said.

Other consumer’s testimonies on the concoction were almost the same as they were very explicit on the potency of the mixture which they believe should be given more prominence in order to provide a better care to the people.
Bosun, a civil servant testified to the effectiveness of Agbo and herbal bitters drink: "I use herbal bitters mostly because I experience body pains and weakness especially the stress of work and driving through traffic, and it also serves as an aphrodisiac which I must take every night because my wife might demand for sex and I don’t want to be caught off guard or less prepared. Although on days when I take Agbo, I ensure I have nothing planned out because I visit the toilet all day but feel very relieved afterwards."
Miss Cynthia Uwaje, who hawks these local concoctions corroborated the position of the consumers, even as she also solicits the support of government at all levels. She cited the case of pile which she said most doctors have little knowledge about, but has its solution in Agbo.
"Most times when you visit hospitals to lodge complaints for dysentery, some doctors don't know what prescription to give and in most cases it degenerates to pile which they might suggest you perform surgical operation as a remedy.
These surgical operations are not often successful as most patients die in the process. But you only need a little dose of Agbo to flush whatever is responsible for the illness in the first place without allowing it to degenerate to pile," Miss Cynthia stated.
A fruit seller at Ojuelegba Market, Mama Titi, said, “I take Agbo everyday to safeguard against any ailment because I cannot afford standard health care from the hospital”
But one of the major concerns medical experts give on Agbo consumption is that one cannot ascertain the dosage and expiration of the mixture. Both the hawkers and consumers differ on the required dosage for each ailment.Miss Cynthia said each mixture expires at the end of seven days, Iya Ijesha thinks three days should be the maximum as anything beyond that is no longer potent.
According to a medical doctor, Dr. Sakanmi Ibraheem of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, the locally made herbal concoction such as Agbo, Sepe and the likes are not purified or refined nor do they carry information on the active ingredients or the amount of such ingredients in them. "The health benefits are scientifically questionable because there is not known scientific evidence or studies to validate their widely claimed therapeutic or curative effect, which is a direct opposite to the practice of conventional medicines, where drugs used have been extensively studied and are shown to be safe within their regulated dosage regime," Ibraheem said.
He said further: "Concerning herbal bitters, it is a herbal alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink. It is not a form of treatment of any medical condition. What has been claimed by their manufacturers is that it cleanses bowels, relives body pain, and it’s more popular for its aphrodisiac qualities. Most people who consume these drinks are now addicted to it that they are so afraid that if they don’t drink it daily, they will not be able to perform the act of intimacy when they need to. The danger is that in old age the long term effects may begin to rear its ugly head, and this is what happens when people allow society’s unnatural expectation to distort what nature allows as normal.

"What consumers of these herbal mixtures especially 'Agbo' are not aware of is the appropriate dosage. Some might take too little or too much and excess of it can cause the liver to shut down or causes multi systemic complications that affects the kidney and liver which are the powerhouses of the body. Also, it might cause blood psychosis and other mild complications which include gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, aphasic anemia and in rare cases, affects the bone marrow."

According to the medical doctor, some of these adverse effects are due to the toxic substances or unprocessed materials used in the production of the concoction. "I believe what most people refer to as 'jedi jedi' is Hemorrhoid which is also called pile but as opposed to general belief, they are not caused by the consumption of refined sugar or sweet substances. The exact causes are still yet unknown, however, there are certain predisposing factors to it, and such factors include the consumption of low fiber diet, chronic constipation and also conditions that increase the intra-abdominal pressure such as a presence of an intra-abdominal mass or pregnancy."
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have so far tried to eliminate the selling of some of these concoctions in the market, because a vast number of Nigerians suffer from ailments that develop from continuous abuse of these drugs without them knowing it came from the drugs meant to cure them. However, till date, the sales and consumption have continued have continued unabated.
There are a few audacious ones that claims to be operating under NAFDAC certification and have gone ahead to use labels indicating that the regulatory agency has authorised their activities. Despite the claims however, NAFDAC frowns at advertisements of these products in the mass media and has consistently warned that such advertisers must obtain clearance from the Agency before going to press.

In Concusion, However, from the doctor's expert views above, local herbal formulations do have issues of the dosage, expiry date and absence of clear research to reveal the active ingredients of the concoctions. For all its acclaimed effectiveness as the consumers have alluded, these and the long term effects might be the real drawbacks

Nice one OP.... smiley

Here's a few more....

Engage in good physical exercise: The role of a good physical exercise in natural "anti-aging" looks is so vital. Take that 20mins walk or 10mins Jog. Engage in certain sporting activities and you'll find that in the long run, you look fitter and younger than the sedentary humans.

Also, it will give you a sharper mind as if you're young compared to ones who don't engage in physical exercise. It has been shown in brain research the connection between physical exercise and one's brainpower. smiley

A scientist (whose name I can't recall) once said, "If Exercise were a pill, we would take it daily for the rest of our lives....." So yep, it is a big deal indeed

Laugh more I know you discussed "Be happy" but I wanna emphasize on laughter. Laughter being described as the best medicine have been scientifically proven true. When one is in a state of euphoria and laughter results, Certain "feel good" hormones and chemical substances like Endorphins and Oxytocin and released into the body's system and help provide "calm and relieves stress". In the limbic system of the brain, one also get to be triggered into being emotionally motivated and uplifted when one laughs "genuinely" often.

So this is just a few, I wanna add to your beautiful write-up. Thumbs up. smiley

And yes, Sleep.... I don't wanna go into much details on sleep but I'll say this.

There's a super reason why we scientists say, "Go get your 'beauty' sleep" wink

Sleep is just that. Keeps you young and enables the right and "time-specific" secretions of the hormones responsible for battling stress (Cortisol), regulating water content (Aldosterone), regulating sugar content (Glucagon, Insulin, Growth hormone), and much much more.

So plsss, get some good sleep.

Health10 Ways To Prevent Breast Cancer In Nigeria . by Healinicblog(op):
In Nigeria today, the rate of women being affected by breast cancer is on increase daily..generally, In Nigeria, about 10,000 cancer deaths are recorded annually while 250,000 new cases are recorded yearly.

No matter how conflicted we may be, breasts are part of our female identity, which may be why, for most of us, having breast cancer is our biggest fear. We're more afraid of it than we are of heart disease, which is 10 times more likely to be what sends us to the great beyond ,But there is a lot of good news about breast cancer these days. Treatments keep getting better, and we know more than ever about ways to prevent the disease.
Many factors over the course of a lifetime can influence your breast cancer risk. You can’t change some factors, such as getting older or your family history, but you can help lower your risk of breast cancer by taking care of your health.
Breast Cancer Prevention: How to Reduce The Risk

1. Know your family cancer history

About 5 to 10% of breast cancer is hereditary, passed from
one generation to the next via a variety of mutated genes. Your father's family counts as much as your mother's. And look at your family's history of other kinds of cancer, too. Men can carry some of the same aberrant genes, such as BRCA1 and 2, that up the risk of not only breast cancer but also ovarian cancer in women, pancreatic cancer in men and women, and early prostate and testicular cancers in men. Also, multiple diagnoses on either side of your family can be a clue to a hereditary link. You may be at high risk of breast cancer if you have a mother or sister who developed breast or ovarian cancer (especially at an early age) or if you have multiple
family members (including males) who developed breast, ovarian or prostate cancer. A doctor or genetic counselor can help you understand your family history of the disease.

2.Keep Weight in Check

It’s easy to tune out because it gets said so often, but maintaining a healthy weight is an important goal for everyone. Being overweight can increase the risk of many different cancers, including breast cancer, especially after menopause. This is especially true if obesity occurs later in life.

3. Avoid Radiation : Try as much as possible to Avoid exposure to radiation like x-ray and environmental pollution. Medical-imaging methods, such as computerized tomography, use high doses of radiation. While more studies are needed, some research suggests a link between breast cancer and radiation exposure. Reduce your exposure by having such tests only when absolutely necessary.

4. Breast-feed
. Breast-feeding might play a role in breast cancer prevention. The longer you breast-feed, the greater the protective effect.

5. Don't smoke. Accumulating evidence suggests a link between smoking and breast cancer risk, particularly in premenopausal women. In addition, not smoking is one of the best things you can do for your overall health

6. Alcohol intake : The more alcohol you drink, the greater your risk of developing breast cancer. The general recommendation — based on research on the effect of alcohol on breast cancer risk — is to limit yourself to less than 1 drink per day as even small amounts increase risk.

7. Regular Exercise : Exercise is as close to a silver bullet for good health as there is, and women who are physically active for at least 30 minutes a day have a lower risk of breast cancer. Regular exercise is also one of the best ways to help keep weight in check..

8. Eat Your Fruits & Vegetables

A healthy diet can help lower the risk of breast cancer. Try to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, Research continues to produce promising evidence that what you eat can affect your risk. For example, Harvard researchers recently found that women who had the highest carotenoid levels in their blood had a 19% lower risk of breast cancer than those with the lowest levels. Carotenoids are found in fruits and vegetables such as leafy greens, carrots, and red peppers. Women who consumed more carotenoids had an even lower risk of developing estrogen-receptor-negative breast cancer.

9. Avoid Birth Control Pills, Particularly After Age 35 or If You Smoke
Birth control pills have both risks and benefits. The younger a woman is, the lower the risks are. While women are taking birth control pills, they have a slightly increased risk of breast cancer. This risk goes away quickly, though, after stopping the pill. The risk of stroke and heart attack is also increased while on the pill – particularly if a woman smokes. However, long-term use can also have important benefits, like lowering the risk of ovarian cancer, colon cancer and uterine cancer – not to mention unwanted pregnancy – so there’s also a lot in its favor. If you’re very concerned about breast cancer, avoiding birth control pills is one option to lower risk.

10. Regular Screening : Try as much as possible to go for checkups and screening regularly, Despite some controversy, studies show that breast cancer screening with mammography saves lives. It doesn’t help prevent cancer, but it can help find cancer early when it’s most treatable. For most women, regular mammograms can begin at age 40, but specific recommendations vary by age and risk.

If you are age 40 – 44:
You can choose to begin yearly mammograms. It is important to talk to a doctor about the risk and benefits of mammograms at these ages.

If you are age 45 – 54:
Mammograms are recommended every year.
If you are age 55 or over:
Mammograms are recommended every other year. You can choose to continue to have them every year.

Clinical breast exams and self-exams are not recommended. But you should be familiar with your breasts and tell a health care provider right away if you notice any changes in how your breasts look or feel.

Hey People ! How Can You Prevent Old age looks and even at 70s you wil still look fresh and young.. please read below..

Be happy : The physical damage caused to your body by stress has only recently become appreciated by the scientific community. Fill your life with happiness and things you love and get rid of almost everything else. Practice stress relieving activities like meditation and exercise, and learn to appreciate joy when you find it. Happiness does a body good.

Eat vegetables : There is good evidence that oxidative damage caused by toxins and metabolism contributes to the aging process at a cellular level. Foods (but not supplements) high in antioxidants seem to protect us from oxidative stress and thereby making us look younger.

Avoid sugar : Try as much as possible to avoid excess sugar, as Sugar is a direct cause of aging and significantly reduces lifespan in organisms from yeast to primates. Not by a small amount either.

Moisturize :The appearance of your skin is largely dependent upon moisture. Help it out by using moisturizers to keep your skin soft and hydrated. Work with a professional to determine what type is best for you and quality enough.

Don’t raise your eyebrows : Credit my mother for teaching me this one, it has been a lifesaver. As a kid she used to warn me about raising my eyebrows, saying it would give me wrinkles and I’d regret it. I thought she was crazy, but still learned to express myself without much forehead crinkling. As a result I have far fewer forehead lines than some people years younger than me.

Sleep Well :For me the most important determinant of how I look (and feel) on a given day is how much sleep I get. Seven hours is my ideal, but everyone is different.

Eat fish : Some evidence suggests that the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish are particularly beneficial to the skin.

Wear sunscreen : Try as much as possible to avoid sun rays, but cases where you have to, never walk out the door without sunscreen on the face. UV radiation from the sun damages your skin and promotes aging.

Don’t smoke : Smoking is one of the easiest ways to look older than you really are and shorten your life at the same time. Avoid both primary and secondary smoke like the plague. For people already smoking try and quite if you really want to look young and healthier.

No foundation or powder makeup : Generally avoid putting any makeup directly onto the skin, but skipping the makeup does help maintain your skin’s hydration and elasticity. For ladies, wear makeup occasionally, maybe once or twice per week. But in general I will recommend mascara and lip gloss are enough for most situations..

Others Include Eat fruits, Takes Vitamin D, Eat Nuts,Beans etc..

HealthFACTS : Too Much Eggs Causes Heart Disease [READ] by Healinicblog(op): 1:04pm On Oct 11, 2016
Hey Guys,!Today at HEALINIC BLOG We will be looking at the Negative Effects of Taking Eggs Daily or Too Much Intake of Eggs.

Nutritionally, eggs are a very good source of protein and the trace mineral selenium, a good source of phosphorus, riboflavin and vitamin B12 and high in nutrients important for the eyes and brain, but high in saturated fat and very high in cholesterol.
In fact, a single medium-sized egg contains 62 per cent of the recommended maximum daily intake.
Eggs are high in calories, fat and cholesterol. Consuming eggs every day can put you at risk for heart disease by increasing your blood-cholesterol levels. The high caloric content may lead to weight gain if you eat too many. As a healthier alternative, swap whole eggs for egg whites or egg-product replacers to reduce calories, fat and cholesterol.
What are possible Effects Of Eggs?

Excessive Calories

Firstly,Large eggs provide approximately 75 calories each. Filling your breakfast plate with three scrambled eggs packs about 225 calories, just from
the eggs. The high number of calories you consume from eggs may lead to weight gain over time. Do you know that It takes an excess of 3,500 calories to pack on 1 pound of body weight ?, explains the National Institutes of Health. Eating three eggs per day can lead to as much as 1 pound of weight gain in less than three weeks..

High Cholesterol

Secondly, human Consuming eggs on a daily basis adds an excessive amount of cholesterol to your diet. Cholesterol is a fatty, waxy substance that builds up on arterial walls when you have too much in your blood. As it builds up in your arteries, it makes them hard and stiff and causes blood clots to form. Your heart has to work harder to push blood through, increasing your blood pressure. These harmful effects of cholesterol boost your risk of heart attack and heart disease. Keep your daily cholesterol intake to less than 300 milligrams or under 200 milligrams if you already have high blood cholesterol.

Fat Content

Eating eggs on a daily basis drastically increases your fat intake. You need some fat in your diet to absorb fat-soluble vitamins, produce certain hormones and perform other functions. Too much fat, particularly saturated fat from eggs, can be harmful and increase your risk of heart disease. You need between 20 to 35 percent calories from fat, following the report from Dietary Guidelines for Americans in 2010. Based on a 2,000-calorie diet, you can have 44 to 77 daily grams of fat. Large eggs provide nearly 5 grams of fat per egg. For a 2,000-calorie diet, three scrambled eggs at breakfast take up as much as 35 percent of your calories for the entire day..

Other Considerations and Possible solution

All of the fat and cholesterol in eggs comes directly from the yolk. Opt for plain egg whites in a carton or separate egg yolks from the whites before cooking. Egg-replacer products are derived from egg whites and are another option for fat-free, cholesterol-free eggs. These healthier alternatives drastically cut calories and fat. Three scrambled egg whites provide less than 60 calories and no cholesterol and or fat -- far less than three scrambled whole eggs, which have 225 calories, 555 milligrams of cholesterol and 15 grams of fat.

Hey Guys! Today we would be looking at the cause of Catarrh,Effects,Prevention and possible cure.. Just like other viral diseases, Catarrh is majorly caused by influenza which is a viral disease, more like this..it dont actually go away permanently when treated. it comes back as soon as it is reactivated due to unfavourable conditons..

Please read more below :

Doctors usually define catarrh as an excess of thick mucus in one of the airways or cavities of the body.
This most commonly occurs in the sinuses at the front of the face either side of the nose, but can also occur in the throat, ears or chest.
Although catarrh is not a condition in itself, it's often a symptom of other conditions such as a cold, hay fever or other types of allergy-triggered problem, or nasal polyps (fleshy swellings inside the nose).

What causes catarrh?

Catarrh is caused by
the body's natural defences – the immune system – reacting to an infection or irritation.
When your immune system reacts to infective agents such as virus or the bacteria or irritants in the atmosphere which are inhaled, it releases white blood cells to fight the infection and the irritants. As a result white blood cells cause inflammation of the inner lining of the nose and the throat and produce mucus, a thick viscid fluid to trap the germs and its entry into the body. Due to inflammation, the nasal passage becomes narrow and you get a feeling of congested nose. Some of the triggers which cause catarrh are;

Viral infection such as influenza and common cold virus.

Bacteria infecting the tonsils and throat.
Allergy to pollen and dust mites or food.
Nasal polyps.
Smoking.
Air pollution.
Changes in weather.
Eating Spicy food.
Alcohol.

For reasons that are unknown, some people have abnormally sensitive blood vessels that react to environmental triggers, such as cigarette smoke and pollution.

Natural Remedies For Catarrh

There are many catarrh natural remedies with proven efficacy to reduce your suffering, without causing any harm to your body.

1. To start with avoid food preparations which you are sensitive to. Sugar, dairy products, bread prepared from white flour and processed foods for initial few days have to be avoided.
2. Drink enough of water and eat fruits and vegetables, fruit juice and soups and herbal teas for one day. The next day eat rice and vegetables with little quantity of chicken or other protein food preparations. Add garlic, onion, while preparing food as they are natural decongestants.
3. Take vitamin C and zinc supplements. Lemon juice or orange juice once or twice in a day is very useful natural catarrh remedy.

4. To clear the nasal passage, inhale steam. You can add few drops of eucalyptus oil in water before inhaling the steam.
5. The herb goldenseal has natural properties to relive catarrh symptoms. You can take capsules of powdered goldenseal once in a day when suffering from nasal catarrh.
6. Gargle warm salt water when your throat and tonsils are inflamed. Salt has anti-bacterial properties.
7. To get relief from nasal block, use nasal saline spray or nasal saline drops.

Hey Guys! Today on your Number one Health Blog "HEALINIC" We will be discussing why fishes is much more healthier than Meat..red meat precisely,

You’ve already read about three important types of low-fat foods: fruits, veggies and whole grains. What about meats?

When you look at the healthy protein benefits of eating fish vs. eating meat, though, you wonder why fish and meat are in the same food group. You can maximize your chances of living a long, healthy life by eating the right meat, but fish in general is significantly healthier than meat

Why Are Chicken, Fish and Beans Better Than Red Meat?

In general, red meats (beef, pork and lamb) have more cholesterol
and saturated (bad) fat than chicken, fish and vegetable proteins such as beans. Cholesterol and saturated fat can raise yo
ur blood cholesterol and make heart disease worse. Chicken and fish have less saturated fat than most red meat. The unsaturated fats in fish, such as salmon, actually have health benefits. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish and some plant sources, may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Fish has significantly less saturated fat than meat, reports the Demand Media article “Seafood vs. Meat.” Saturated fat increases your chances of getting heart disease. A 3-ounce piece of sirloin has more than 3 grams of saturated fat, while 3-ounce pieces of salmon and shrimp each have less than 1 gram of saturated fat. It has significantly more of what health experts call “good fats.” Certain types of unsaturated fats reduce your chances of getting heart disease. About 80 percent of the fat in salmon is unsaturated vs. about 50 percent of the fat in beef sirloin.

One of its unsaturated fats is omega-3 fatty acid. People who eat foods high in omega-3 have reduced how much triglycerides, a fat, they have in their blood by about 30 percent, reports the Harvard Health Publications’ report “Should you worry about high triglycerides?” High levels of triglycerides are a major risk factor in heart disease. Herring, mackerel, salmon, sardines, trout, and tuna all have a lot of omega-3 fatty acid.

Its omega-3 also reduces your risk of depression, arthritis, and asthma, and might reduce your risk of dementia, according to the CNN report “The benefits of eating fish” and the WebMD report “The Facts on Omega-3 Fatty Acids.”

It contains selenium, which reduces your risk of cancer. People who ate fish were about 40 percent less likely to have prostate cancer than people who did not, the CNN report says.

Tips for People Who Like Meat

It’s OK to eat red meat as long as you limit the amount. The American Heart Association recommends that people limit lean meat, skinless chicken and fish to less than six ounces per day, total. Fish (3.5 oz./serving) should be eaten at least twice per week, preferably fish high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, trout and herring.

Use the tips below to lower the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol you get when you eat meat.

One portion of meat is about the size of a deck of cards or three ounces.

Choose lean cuts of meat. Lean cuts usually contain the words “round,” “loin” or “sirloin” on the package.

Trim off as much fat as you can before cooking, and pour off the melted fat after cooking.

Use healthier cooking methods: bake, broil, stew and grill.

Note: Eating a lot of meat is not a healthy way to lose weight, especially if you have heart disease. See the “5 Goals to Losing Weight” for better ways to lose weight.

Hey Everyone,Lets talk about Typhoid Fever

What is typhoid fever?
Typhoid fever is an acute illness associated with fever caused by the Salmonella typhi bacteria. It can also be caused by Salmonella paratyphi, a related bacterium that usually causes a less severe illness. The bacteria are deposited in water or food by a human carrier and are then spread to other people in the area. Typhoid fever affects more than 21 million people annually, with about 200,000 people dying from the disease. In Nigeria precisely, most people mistook thyphoid as malaria and thereby not getting the required and specific treatment to eliminate in totally.

How Do People Get Typhoid Fever?

Typhoid fever is contracted by drinking or eating the bacteria in contaminated food or water. People with acute illness can contaminate the surrounding water supply through stool, which contains a high concentration of the bacteria. Contamination of the water supply can, in turn, taint the food supply. The bacteria can survive for weeks in water or dried sewage.
About 3%-5% of people become carriers of the bacteria after the acute illness. Others suffer a very mild illness that goes unrecognized. These people may become long-term carriers of the bacteria -- even though they have no symptoms -- and be the source of new outbreaks of typhoid fever for many years.

How Is Typhoid Fever Detected?
After the ingestion of contaminated food or water, the bacteria gets into the small intestine and enter the bloodstream temporarily. The bacteria are carried by white blood cells in the liver, spleen, and bone marrow, where they multiply and reenter the bloodstream. People develop symptoms, including fever, at this point. Bacteria invade the gallbladder, biliary system, and the lymphatic tissue of the bowel. Here, they multiply in high numbers. The bacteria pass into the intestinal tract and can be identified in stool samples. If a test result isn't clear, blood samples will be taken to make a diagnosis..
What Are the Symptoms of Typhoid Fever?
The breeding period is usually 1-2 weeks, and the duration of the illness is about 3-4 weeks. Symptoms include:

Poor appetite
Headaches
Generalized aches and pains
Fever as high as 104 degrees Farenheit
Lethargy
Diarrhea
and abdominal pain and discomfort are common. The fever becomes constant. Improvement occurs in the third and fourth week in those without complications.

How Is Typhoid Fever Treated?

Typhoid fever is treated with antibiotics which kill the Salmonella bacteria. Prior to the use of antibiotics, Several antibiotics are effective for the treatment of typhoid fever. Chloramphenicol was the original drug of choice for many years. Because of rare serious side effects, chloramphenicol has been replaced by other effective antibiotics.

Commonly prescribed antibiotics

Ciprofloxacin (Cipro). In the United States, doctors often prescribe this for nonpregnant adults.
Ceftriaxone (Rocephin). This injectable antibiotic is an alternative for people who may not be candidates for ciprofloxacin, such as children,

In Nigeria, Drugs like Amoxil Beecham is one of the major drugs used for this defect. Drugs also includes
Amoxicillin (Trimox, Amoxil, Biomox)
Trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim DS, Septra)
Ciprofloxacin (Cipro)
Azithromycin (Zithromax)
Ceftriaxone (Rocephin)
Ofloxacin (Floxin)
Levofloxacin (Levaquin)

Health3 Natural Ways To Protect Against Stretch Marks-healinicblog by Healinicblog(op): 10:31pm On Oct 08, 2016
Hey Guys, Lets Discuss about Stretch Marks and the natural ways to prevent it.

Please read below ;

Stretch marks which is natural ,most people have them…nobody likes them. Known to dermatologists as striae, stretch marks are scars that develop when your skin has to accommodate rapid growth. Often first appearing as reddish or purple lines on your thighs, hips, or belly, stretch marks fade over time but, like any scar, may never disappear completely.

Why do we get stretch marks?
Your skin stays supple thanks to the proteins elastin and collagen, but when it becomes
overstretched during puberty, pregnancy, or times of sudden weight gain and hormonal imbalance, the dermis layer of your skin tears and stretch marks form. Women are particularly prone, but stretch marks also commonly plague obese people of both genders. Your personal susceptibility to developing stretch marks is mostly genetic, and unfortunately, there’s no way to completely prevent them. Don’t waste your hopes or money on lotions and creams; stretch marks form from within and nothing you apply topically can counteract the process (if only that weren’t true!).

Hey,The good news is that you can boost your defenses against stretch marks by eating foods and leading a lifestyle that help the skin to maintain its elasticity. Even better, these measures are excellent for all other aspects of your health, too!

Eat foods that boost collagen production: Enjoy foods rich in vitamins C, B, and E, all of which contribute to collagen formation. Good (and delicious) options include citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, and nuts and seeds. Check out the other foods you should eat for your skin this summer!

Get plenty of exercise: Regular physical activity improves circulation and promotes the elasticity of skin. New research shows that a regular exercise routine even can undo signs of aging!

Stay well hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is one of the best things you can do to strengthen and renew your skin. Plus, staying well hydrated boosts your immune system, energizes muscles, and improves digestion.

Once you have stretch marks, the most common ways to reduce their appearance are decidedly unnatural—both laser treatments and applying topical retinoids stimulate collagen growth and speed up cell turnover.

However, exciting research also points to the effectiveness of mixing onion extract and hyaluronic acid, a carbohydrate that is naturally found throughout the human body. Some people also swear by the topical application of vitamin E, though it’s unsupported by research.

Finally, perhaps the most important point to keep in mind is that although your stretch marks may never magically change, your outlook on them can. Try to accept them and even embrace them! Think of it this way: your body is your vehicle through life, and as time passes, it leaves physical marks as mementos of the experiences you’ve had, places you’ve gone, and people you’ve loved. Some women value their pregnancy stretch marks as badges of motherhood and a symbol of their love and sacrifice for their children. And never forget the old cliché—true beauty comes from within!
