N3TRAL:
I vehemently and unequivocally disassociate myself with the APC and the government of President Tinubu.

Any resident of Nigeria who denies that Nigerians are not suffering worse than they did in 2022 is a liar who doesn't partake in national discourse for the good of the country but for personal gains. The irony is that majority of the times, the "personal gain" of the primitive and timid supporters is the mere satisfaction that someone from the region of the country they love to hate will not lead the affairs of Nigeria.

the same tinubu you supported all throught the election and became a tribal lord with hate and bile for?? what changed bro??Nigeria will only grow when we manage our emotion maturely and make decision based on reality and logic

Politics / Re: KWASU VC TUSSLE: Ag. VC Illegal Recruitments And Displacement Of Emirate Staff by hegelian: 2:07pm On Jan 07
OwoFactual:
KWASU VC tussle: Uncovering The Igbomina Sinister Move and Plots Against Emirate Staff.

By: Onimago Abdulsalam.

After the unfortunate event of the death of the erstwhile Kwara State University VC, late, Prof. Muhammed Akanbi. (SAN) the Ag. VC started witch-haunting and removing the Staff of Ilorin Extraction from their Key position in the hierarchical structure of the University's management. He claimed that his actions were in the interest of reposting and as such, instead of filling the positions with Ilorin Emirate-born Staff, he replaced those removed with Staff who were of Kwara South extraction or even non-Kwarans. Hence this has led to the dominance of the key position formerly held by Ilorin Emirate Staff now held by the Kwara Southerners or non-Kwarans. Shouldn't it even be questionable if a VC in an acting capacity can carry out such repositioning that has led to great injustice to a section of the State and has portrayed the said reposition as lopsidedness?

Constitutionally, The VC has exceeded the mandatory six-month acting period and why he's not been relieved for a more qualified candidate to take up the responsibility speaks volumes of the current administration in accommodating illegality to reign at the expense of legality.

His illegally continued stay in office has led to his abuse of office and misuse of power by illegally recruiting more than 300 non-academic staff via the allocation of various slots to powerful people in government and authority that has served as backers and protectors of his illegality in a bid to confirm him as the substantive VC whilst there are numbers of Ilorin Emirate born Professors lining up to complete the tenure of the deceased VC.

The Acting VC and the Registrar are reported to have met Prof. Isiaq Oloyede at JAMB with a plan of getting her a federal appointment so she can resign her current appointment and pave the way for the Ag. VC to be confirmed.

We call on all stakeholders, the true sons and daughters of Ilorin, the IEDPU, and His Highness the Emir of Ilorin to prevail on this issue of the Anti-Ilorin Emirate agenda and make timely and necessary corrections before it's too late. And the information has it that the governor has always been an indifferent man on any matter concerning Ilorin. This is not politics and shouldn't be treated as such, the governor can not allow this injustice and illegality to see the light of the day.

It's our hope and prayers that necessary steps will be taken to avert this ugly occurrence and an agenda to remove Ilorin-worthy sons from the decision-making in the University.

End.

sir were.. i am from ilorin and all you wrote is stupidity... so its only ilorin emirate son that should be VC abi?? if an Ag VC deem it fit to resuffle position to reflect the tru diversity of the school, why not support him..why should only ilorin emirate poeple hold strong position in a school that belong to all citizen of the state.. its people like you that have made the state not to gorw..ilorin emirate always wanting to take everything... Gov Lawal (from ilorin emirate, west), Gov Bukola (from ilorin Emirate, west), fata (ilorin south, ifelodun), Gov Abdulrahman (from ilorin emirate, west again)... its ilorin only the people of the state?? and yet you keep crying everywhere

Let us make this clear to Nairalanders that do not understand what exactly is going on,
Here you have it....

This document we are talking about showed that the payment of the N585.198 million grant, meant for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun and Lagos states, was made into one Bridget Oniyelu’s account.
However, reacting to this the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister,
Rasheed Zubair said N585.198 million payment for the vulnerable group followed due process.

From all of us at MANNA, this is our take on this issue,
Personal money shall in no circumstances be paid into a government bank account, nor shall any public money be paid into a private bank account. An officer who pays public money into a private account is deemed to have done so with fraudulent intention.
This is what Obi Pandora did in Anambra State that we are against.
Stealing the state money and transferring it to his family account.
He frittered away their state treasury to fund his family business as revealed in Pandora papers.
Being caught with 250 million in cash!
We say no to FRAUD in all ramifications.

This is not about marry little girls, Nwoko needs to STFU.

A brief look through the stringent requirements already shows that the bill is NOT for the masses.

Also of the 100 civilians murdered in Plateau, probably less than 2 of them would qualify for firearms under the proposed bill.

The massacre is evidence of government failure.

This bill is should be dubbed "Blame-shifting Act 2024". It's dumb and not well-thought.

US, a country that works, is battling with unprecedented levels of gun violence and this fool is proposing a Gun Bill in a shithole like Nigeria.

Do your jobs or the GTFO!

You can abuse as much as u want but the truth remains that there is already plenty illegal arms in the country and those that should have it already have it plenty whether license or no license, so why not allow responsible people a fighting chance

Politics / Re: Coming Generations Will Have To Pay Nigeria’s Current Debts – Obasanjo by hegelian: 9:11am On Jan 04
seunmsg:

The national debt is inclusive of debt owed by sub national entities. This year alone, Abia state planned to borrow N200b local debt and N200 foreign debt. That makes it N400b debt this year alone. The state has about N200b debt already from previous administration and the projected revenue is less than N150b.

So you see, Buhari and Tinubu are not the only problem. Governors like Alex Otti, Mbah of Enugu etc with outrageous budget deficit plan are part of the problem.

The SE is really a threat to you people.. The only way you can rationalize or justify anything now is to compare with SE.. Are they really that a threat to you guys... Omo igbos dey live rent free for una head sha

PressMyButton:
Niger state is the biggest state in Nigeria, it is three times the size of the whole SE, a LG is almost the size of Abia state. The terrain of the North is as complex as the creeks in the Nigerdelta. The size of the north with its porous borders makes it extremely difficult in comparison to the number of soldiers per sq km. I suggest a more robust grassroot synergy, a strong determination by both traditional and religious leaders in the fight against banditary. The defence HQ should also scale up the use of drones and advanced tech inorder to bridge any lapses. If you think the Army ain't doing enough, let's withdraw the troops for 48 hours and see if you'd sleep in your house talking trash behind your keyboard.

everything is always compared to the southeast and when they respond you tag it anything.. why compare everything to SE, why not say niger state is big

Politics / Re: Ban Sports Betting Apps: Reno Omokri Tells FG by hegelian: 2:36pm On Jan 03
love201:
President Tinubu can immediately improve the economic conditions of most Nigerians and make the Naira grow by issuing an Executive Order authorising the Nigerian Communications Commission to ban sports betting apps from the App Store of any GSM Internet Service Provider in Nigeria and revoking the licenses of any physical sports betting operators in Nigeria. It makes better sense than Buhari's draconian #TwitterBan.

Reno Omokri on his Facebook page wrote 'There is such an epidemic of gambling in Nigeria and it is destroying Nigerian youths. $1 billion is spent on gambling daily in Nigeria, according to the National Lottery Trust Fund. Please fact-check me. The average Nigerian spends $15 daily on sports betting and other types of gambling, with the vast majority of that amount leaving our economy and going to places like Russia, South Africa, and Europe. The Naira can never sustain its rally under such circumstances.

This is scary. How much is our GDP that we are pissing it away like that? More money is leaving Nigeria through gambling than is coming in. Buhari was thoroughly useless in that he was an anti-intellectual who was led by the nose by his former recharge card seller turned overnight billionaire nephew, Tunde Sabiu. But Tinubu is an accountant. He must know that this parasitic economic sabotage will destroy Nigeria if left unchecked.

A lot of the petty crime in Nigeria is caused by youths seeking money, by any means, to fund their gambling habit. It would be irresponsible for a first-class accountant like Tinubu not to act on such a matter as threatening to our national security as this gambling epidemic.

Just imagine millions of able-bodied youths waking up daily not to do any productive work but to waste away their lives online and offline at sports betting shops. And we have a government in place led by a first-class graduate in economics?'

Healthcare expenditure per capital in KSA is $1291, while the figure is $69 (debatable) in Nigeria.

Also I’m curious about the real figures of demand and supply, (from MDAs, commercial banks etc). Please anyone who has this should share the link.
I’ve requested this from bankers but all I ever get is ‘it’s a lot’ and looked at the CBN website, the only figures there is NFEM
https://www.cbn.gov.ng/rates/exchratebycurrency.asp

As I mentioned earlier, we may not be as rich as KSA, but we have no business being this poor. Nigerians should know that our present quagmire is nothing short of government stealing.

you and i know there is no way our per capital healthcare expenditure will be 69$ when our minimum wage is less than 30$ and the true minimum wage in the SMEs is far less than 20$...the 69$ is just a figment of FG and research group immgination...

agreed we have no problem being poor but we can never be compared to KSA under all metrics (KSA aint our mate bro).. we are poor because we have wrong people in right places and the wrong people give bad leadership which inturn make the followers rotten and it goes down the hill from there...we dont take responsibilities, we rationalize all failures and we refuse to learn from history (bros do you know history is not even thought in any school??) no nation grow without acknowledging its history, learning from it, and growing from it.. we have refused to own our historical mistakes and make amends instead we hide and cover it up....growth and development is natural upshoot of several factors not just what you make and how you spend it....

A lot of foreign certificates Nigerians are carrying about are fake. In fact, there is a Ph.D racket in Abuja where just anybody can pick up a Ph.D without writing a single examination. In my office, a lot of people have procured this fake certificate from very funny foreign universities.

The investigation should not be limited to Togo and Benin republic. They should extend it to all certificates issued by most of the unranked foreign universities.

It's funny how you people use one mouth to defend certificate forger for political reasons and turn around to blame others for doing same.. Tinubu claimed to finish from a secondary that never existed to study at a university in the US, the same Tinubu filled invisible skools in his onec form for governship election and no justice on him for it instead people like you defended him.. You have no moral right to blame anyone for doing what the president of the country did.. You people are the real enemy of the country..

Good day nairalanders

I have listened to a couple of preachers both secular and religious on the issue of what is prime in a relationship and they revolve around these three which are romance, finance and purpose.
Some said romance is important, while others finance and yet some others purpose.

Which is more important.
I think it's purpose.

What do you think.
None of the 3 is important if not rich people won't divorce, religious and spiritual people won't divorce.. What could keep people is understanding the ephemeral natural of life and the futility of it then maybe partners can begin to rationale it out and just live

Omoawoke:
This is an interesting question

Southwest is the capital of economic activity and center of migration of Nigeria so it’s not a surprise that others are beginning to adopt the culture of the Yorubas in dressing and language.

One major contributor is the Afro-beats that originated from the Yorubas and being dominated by Yorubas. All the way to Canada, Uk, US etc. you hear even foreigners singing in yoruba slangs.

Popular songs like Buga oo, Peru, Lonely at the top was played and loved in several countries across the world. You will see a foreigner singing “wan ni won wa mi…..”

What of the great Fela, king sunny Ade. They created an influence too.

What of the slangs, most slangs are born in Lagos. And travels through the rest of Nigeria, slangs like Idan, Japa or the new Japa-da

Movies too contribute to it, Yorubas being the giant in the nollywood industry. With soap operas like Super story, This life, Papa Ajasco, to current movies like king of boys, wedding party

The Yorubas in Brazil, and other South American countries too contribute. In case you don’t know, the greatest of all time, Michael Jackson was wearing a shirt in his hit song “They don’t really care about us”

And the words written on the shirt is a Yoruba word “Olodumare” written as “Olodum”

Abeg what do you stand to gain with all this dick measuring?? Why do u always want be happy seeing others sad!? Grow up bro new year is coming.. Yoruba this, igbo that, haisa this and still all of us are suffering the same fate of bad government, bad economy, bad security and several others.. Grow up rbo
