An unidentified female member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, was reportedly raped by a gang of robbers in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. It was gathered that the hoodlums, who were engaged in house-to-house robbery at the Yenizuegene suburb of Yenagoa, attacked the corps member’s apartment located in the area in the early hours of Sunday.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed June 26 for the 2018 admission policy meeting to kick-start the next admission process into the nation’s tertiary institutions.
Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Media and Information, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.

Benjamin said, “The main reason for the meeting is to define all modalities for admission of qualified candidates into the nation’s tertiary institutions for the 2018/2019 academic session.

According to a report by Vanguard, three children, who were incarcerated by their father over allegations of witchcraft, have been rescued by a child rights group, Basic Child Rights Initiative, BCRI, after neighbours alerted them.
Their father said the eldest, aged 13, confessed to being the head of witches in the family and is responsible for his financial challenges.

The incident, Vanguard learned, occurred at Asabanka, Idundun in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State.

An eyewitness, Iniobong Ekpo, said: “Before the group came to the children’s rescue, we did not really know what was going on. We used to see them around sometimes whenever their father was not around.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Nasarawa state has arrested a mother, Mrs. Chika Okoye, her son, Samuel, and his friend, Dan Abah.
They arrested for examination malpractice. Abah was allegedly hired by Chika to write the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, in the state.

They were paraded in Lafia yesterday by the NSCDC commandant in the state, Mohammed Gidado-Fari.

Explaining her involvement in the crime, Chika said “We couldn’t get admission for many years so I became frustrated; he was also frustrated and nobody is helping us.

At least 10 Boko Haram fighters have been killed in an operation by the Nigerian Army at Ngelkona in Ngala local government area of Borno.
Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, Deputy Director Public Relations of the Nigerian Army’s Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, confirmed this on Saturday in Maiduguri.

He said that the operation was conducted by troops of 153 Task Battalion with support of the Cameroonian Defence Forces deployed in Operation Lafiya Dole at about 11:30 a.m.

An indictment was unsealed today charging three pharmacists, one doctor and two other individuals with conspiracy to illegally distribute prescription drugs, U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider announced today.
Charged in the indictment are: Nigerian pharmacists Enitan Sodiya-Ogundipe, 42, and Abiodun Fabode, 56, Pharmacist Amir Rafi, 49, Dr. Vasan Deshikachar, 50, Niesheia Tibu, 44, and Andrei Tibu, 30.
