candygosh: Questions women are likely to ask before or after mastectomy :
* who will marry me with one breast? An understanding man, a man who understands and is well aware of all breast cancer entails. You very own true love and a man who love you for who you are and knows that you situation is very unfortunate and could happen to anyone
*will I find a fulfilling partner? Of course! I believe there is someone out there made just for you and has most of the things every woman wants in a good man
* how do I cope with one breast or none? Think about it some ladies have an exceptional tiny breast (no offence ) and we're born that way and coped through life . What makes you any different? Besides there are other people with abnormalities are worse than yours. About coping, buy a breast prosthesis if you can't afford a reconstruction and besides if you can afford a prosthesis make one yourself (I did the same thing). A breast prosthetic is about 30, 000.
*do I keep my health status away from prospective suitors. NO. I personally don't believe in a relationship with lies as foundation so being honest is more like it. Although, I personally think this should be done after two to three dates when such person have shown interest, you don't want to kill the fire just too soon. It's then entirely up to the person to decide if you are worth being with or not(my opinion)
Anyway, once the questions keep rolling I keep updating.
Any other contributions apart from mine is totally welcomed. Hundred heads are better than one. kudos for this write up, at one point in time, every breast cancer survivor has been bothered by these questions |

Tashamania: Hi babe and everyone
in addition to all you have said, may I also add that any painful or painless lumpiness under the arm is also another common symptom of cancer although a vast majority of it has nothing to do with cancer but then, it calls for special attention as to when we notice this.
Cancerous cells have affinity for lymphnodes esp under the arm (axillary lymphnode) or around collarbone and because they are malignant tumours have tendencies to migrate from there to other parts of the body where they develop to full blown cancer as you may have it.
It is always advisable to examine the brea.sts soon after your menstrual period ends, because your breas.ts will not be as tender and swollen as during your period. This makes it easier to detect any unusual changes. If you have stopped menstruating, schedule the yearly exam with your doctor or yourself on any day that best suits you and you can always remember.
Goodluck to us great post, early detection is the key to survival |

xcelsia: Aww thanks love, see I'm blushing, my zodiac is cancer (July 3rd) and I'm a true moon child lol
Wow so you cut your hair too, God this is like a dream, two people so far apart yet alike. Her name is Chinyere but I call her baby girl, a very close and dear friend to me. She said she'll rock a low cut if her hair grows back, meeeen I'm really inspired just following this thread, I feel like my problems are suddenly sooo insignificant.
So sorry you're having to cut your hair candy, gosh I wish I could give you all of mine, you ladies are so strong. I'm here with you and for you, I'm not going anywhere, I just wish more girls can understand that there's strength in numbers.
Hephzi hun, congrats love!! I see you're making progress, I'm sending a thousand hugs your way Lots of love to you ladies, we're all in this together, Chinyere sends warm wishes as well xoxoxo lol, thx love. |

I'm really happy for you. Stay strong , keep fighting. We love you! lol, I would argue with d nurses why I didn't have to take d drugs. I stopped tramadol third day after surgery cos it was making me sleep too much. |

Hello xcelsia, how is ur friend doing today? Thr is this book 'Halleluyah diet' I read wen I was still in denial, lol. I recommend that she reads, I found some of the information in it really helpful but I wouldnt advice her to go as extreme as prescribed in d book else she'll starve. Chemotherapy destroys both healthy and cancer cells, her best bet is to improve her diet so as to help her healthy cells recover very quickly thereby boosting her immunity |
