What are the short term and long term plans of Ajebor Farmers?

Our short term goals are to consolidate on our successes, get more investors and technical experts, help more farmers, and make much more money by expanding our backward integration plans.

For our long term, we are seriously working towards a zero-waste in our farms and factories, this is our forward integration plan. It is really massive what we are currently working on and with your support I know we'd be able to achieve this vision.

Based on personal experience, what advice do you have for entrepreneurs and investors planning to partner with Ajebor Farmers?

Ours is the best place to invest. We have insurance coverage and our partners and investors are happy with what they have seen so far. We are eager to work with you to make an impact while creating an extra income.

How did you go about making this project a reality?

Someone said, "Until you wake up and work, your dreams can't become a reality." I had to wake up and work. Together with a team of very committed partners, we have been able to reach out to the Ajebors, which of course we are still doing. We've connected with a lot of individuals and organizations with the technical-know-how and our farmers. So it's all work and dedication to the vision.

What are your biggest challenges so far?

Access to finance. It is a major setback for every startup. Though the government has put in place several support programs for those in agriculture which we have also taken advantage of, I must say that the delay in processing the facilities takes a lot of time. But in all, we are doing our best to ensure that we get more Ajebor Farmers on board.

Are the government policies in Nigeria working for or against you?

The government policies and programs have been for our good. An example is the closure of the border. We are taking advantage of it to improve our rice value chain and ensure that our product meets international standards. The end game for us is to earn foreign exchange through agriculture.

What is the story behind the name Ajebor Farmers?

As young people, the majority of us abhor agriculture because of how crude it can be. Growing up as a young person, I never loved going to my parent's farm because the process was tedious and boring. So, I never in my life thought I'd be a farmer until I saw the opportunities it possessed.
At first, the opportunity was presented to me by my friend who is now my partner. He was fully into agriculture while I was busy with my consulting job.

After my interaction with him, I saw that we could achieve a lot of farming is done rightly. He spoke to me about the Ajebor farmer's idea but sincerely I couldn't really get the full picture.

My interest in farming became more solid when I worked with a state government in Nigeria to develop policies around its economic potentials. There, my eyes were open to the great and vast untapped potential each state in Nigeria had when it comes to agriculture.
We profiled the state and we discovered that if the state had the political will, the state could feed itself, and export commodities that can earn her a lot of money for her infrastructural development.

These untapped potentials in agriculture kept me thinking of ways to key into it. I started researching personally on what could be done and then I discovered two key issues: firstly, farmers who have taken the onerous task of doing the dirty job of farming lacked timely and adequate input supplies and technical support for them to have the required yield.

I sought to find out why there was little or no technical support to these farmers and I was shocked to know that most persons who are technically inclined were not adequately engaged. Extension workers were only available from development agencies like IITA and the likes.

Those who are not opportune to work in such organizations find themselves doing other jobs aside agriculture for which they have been trained. So my passion was to connect the farmers and the technical experts to work together to achieve a common goal. Secondly, is the huge finances involved in achieving this.

Having worked with highly placed Nigerians and those in power, I saw a great need. They needed a secure way to invest their money.
This crystallized what my friend had spoken to me about. It brought about setting up the Ajebor Farmers platform. The idea is to give these ever busy highly placed individuals a trusted platform that can ensure they had returned on investment and have their capital intact. The bigger idea is to connect these three together: the highly placed individuals, the technical experts, and the farmers to endure increased agricultural productivity and wealth creation.

These highly placed individuals are those we call the Ajebor farmers. This is because they have the money to deploy into farming but don't have the time to do it directly. So, our platform gives them the opportunity to do so conveniently.

According to data obtained by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), by the year 2050, the world population is expected to increase to 9 billion, which may lead to massive famine unless the global food production is increased by 70 percent.

At the same time, some of the factors affecting the agriculture industry are labor shortages, increasing costs of production food waste, and land management inefficiencies. Agtech startups around the world are developing innovative solutions to tackle these challenges and Africa is not left behind.

Ajebor Farmers, a leading AgTech startup in Nigeria is encouraging agro-investment using agricultural networking and sharing best practices to finance agriculture in Nigeria. Nigerian rural farmers seeking to scale and enlarge their farms are financed by Ajebor Farmers, who in turn get some percentage of the profit made at the end of the farming cycle. It is a win-win situation.

In a recent chat with the CEO of Ajebor Farmers https://ajeborfarmers.com, Victor Oyita, he spoke extensively on their business model, how they are financing agriculture and solving the food problem in Nigeria using technology.

I have invested in over 30 digital farms and they pay me. Some pay Monthly 10% while others pay every 4months 18-30% o

This is very good. But the issue now is we need a telegram group for discussing it and showing people which is legit.

You're indeed a risk taker. How did you verify the authenticity of all these farms before investing in them?

Before investing in any digital farm at least pay a visit to their office. Personally, I'll never give my money to any digital farm. If I can't farm it myself, then no need.

I agree with you. Some are genuine even when they don't have a physical office. Others are not.

You prefer to farm yourself?

Agriculture / How Do You Know The RIGHT Digital Farms To Invest In Nigeria? by hergists(f): 3:53pm On Feb 06, 2020
I will keep this short and simple. The emergence of digital farms is one of the reigning things in Nigeria. As with all "new" things in Nigeria, it has its good sides and its bad sides.

One of the good sides obviously is that you get some massive returns on your capital when you invest in some good digital farms.

The bad side? Fraud, scams, and "audio farms" are some of the risks involved when investing in digital agriculture in Nigeria. Based on research, some of these digital agriculture investment platforms are not genuine.

This brings the question: how do you know the right digital farms to invest in Nigeria?

Is this investment option fair on farmers and investors alike?

Let's discuss this.

I submitted a letter in FIRS and the letter was torn by a lady at TPS all because the have a replica of that letter in their file and she is already stamped it and can't release it cos her signature is in it. When I asked her to just cancel her signature and return my letter she insisted on it being destroyed sat on the waiting chair waiting for her to make up her mind all of a sudden she tore the letter right to my face... I left there and came back the following day with a letter copying the regional office the head office the chairman and to whom it may concern within a second all the people in FIRS came including her and was begging me but I didn't bulge I submitted it and emailed the rest... I heard she has been sacked from FIRS.... Its good to know ur onion

Risky move. In as much as I don't support her attitude, don't you think that you went to the extreme in dealing with her?

I'll go first.

I had to collect an envelope from NIPOST. Met with the woman in charge and she had this air of importance all around her.

At first, she checked my receipt and delayed me for about 20 minutes at the counter without telling me where she is going to. She just left me there. I didn't talk. I waited.

Then, she asked me to write my name and address at the back of the envelope. And left me for another 10 minutes or so.

Then, she came back to tell me to sign at the front of the envelope. I did that too. But I wondered why she didn't ask me to do this at a go.

All in all, I spent almost 30 minutes to collect an envelope that shouldn't take up to 5 minutes.

If Nigeria is to move forward and progress, the reform should start from these government agencies.

Your turn,

Career / 5 Things Every Employee Expects From The Management by hergists(f): 8:13am On May 28, 2019
Half of the people who quit their job decide to do so because of the management issues, even if they are fully satisfied with their salary and love the job they are doing.

Just how widespread this problem is can be acknowledged from a recent Gallups survey, claiming that companies fail to choose the right candidate for the management role in 82 percent of the time, causing great financial loses as well as much higher employee turnover rates.

The only way to prevent such failures is by actually listening to what the employees have to say.

So what are the expectations most people have of their managers?

1. Cultivate good communication

Communication is a two-way street, even when it comes to management, and when the road is rocky, damages occur.

On the other hand, when built on mutual respect and trust, good communication is in any given context a firm foundation of a meaningful relationship.

2. Praise not a raise

According to Entrepreneur, 65 percent of employees would be happier at work if their manager gave them recognition for their work. As only 35 percent would opt for a raise instead.

Praise and recognition are indeed one of the most important motivators and determinators of employees’ engagement.

3. Focus on strengths

Best employees want their managers to be able to be their mentors and give them some additional support, as well as help them in reaching their career goals.

They want to be able to grow, and the only way to do so is if their individuality is appreciated. Thus making focusing on employees’ strengths and not their weaknesses one of the main characteristics of good management.

4. Don’t ignore conflicts

Conflicts are a part of our workplace reality, and when they happen, the worst thing a manager can do is simply ignore them.

Existing conflict not only influences involved parties, but it also creates a negative atmosphere in the office, causing your other employees to suffer too.

5. Don’t micromanage

Employees need a certain level of decision-making authority, as well as their autonomy to choose how and when they will work on their tasks.

They hate being micromanaged, as this style of management implies a lot of things. Such as the possibility that their manager doesn’t have faith in employees, doesn’t trust them, or craves control. This is a message no one wants to receive.
