Thanks guys!! I'm smiling as I am typing. I didn't know what to expect but I am overwhelmed. I have had 32 responses and counting in less than 24 hours. I'm the last person to engage in the toxic masculinity and the I-sabi-do-everything mentality that is so characteristic of the Nigerian male, but to be honest, I don't think you need a refresher course to change down from manual to automatic. It's more usually the other way round.

If you can drive a manual, your license already allows you to drive an automatic, and that's because the learning curve isn't steep at all. When I first bought and starting driving an automatic car in 2002 or so, after driving a manual for all my driving 'existence' up till then, I had no trouble at all adapting. I eventually got another manual and still drove both varieties in Lagos traffic, so you should be fine.

I'm thinking an hour or two just to get the feel of it, I don't want my manual reflexes kicking in in the middle of traffic.

Re buying a car, if you can get a cheapish loan from your bank at a good APR, try that. Regarding your desire to possibly sell too, keep an eye on the exit fees payable for paying off finance early.

So I could incur a bill for paying it off too early. That's interesting...

I need some advice. I'm looking to buy a car to be used mainly for commuting to work. I am not paying cash for it so which one of these methods of financing is advisable; CS, PCP, or HP. The car is just a means to an end and I might sell it at the earliest opportunity. My budget is less than £150 pounds monthly and less than £7,500 cash value.


Also can anyone recommend an automatic driving instructor in Birmingham for a refresher course (I've always driven manual. I'm looking to transition to automatic. I hate changing gears with my left hand). I live around King's Heath.
I'd appreciate any reasonable contribution.
